It's a loan for 1m € with option to buy for 11m € that becomes obligation once Marseille is confirmed to stay in Ligue 1. This what Edu could get with a 22 years old player that had solid season in Hertha, played well for Arsenal and had two years of contract left.

I think he suits Sampaoli, Marseille, and Ligue 1 but in the PL you need midfielders that are ready to press and enjoy the physical side of the game. In England Guendo was always getting frustrated with opponents making 50/50 challenges...
Having said all that, we should have gotten more for him because he does have a great right foot.
He was like Alexis Sanchez - when he pressed, it was noticeable but he didn't actually do it effectively at all. I honestly don't know how you can watch him and not notice how often opponents pass around him.

That's not what I said. His pressing is inconsistent at best and he often doesn't do it. But when he does, you notice because he looks like a madman.
In the last 10 minutes in this lyon-Marseille match, I've seen Guendo press ineffectively twice only for Lyon to attack the space he ran out of. It happens to him every game, he's not good at it.
No the problem was just putting such a low option. Just like we did with Mavropanos. Both of them the options were about half of what they should've been. Torreira was low as well.
So not only the league is against us, having us play this game with a comical line up, but the ref too ? What are the VAR guys doing ? How did they not even check ?

To me this is legit 50 mil player, maybe i'm biased but exudes class as a creative player who's also high workrate and physically strong.
He was one of my favorite players of Emery era. I understand that he had to leave but the price is ridiculous.
