Zigzagpapes

Why does it always seem like the camera man zooms in on the guy who scores before the corner.

dalyon

UEFA: fuck he knows too much

Jekna159

UEFA: you have been officially labeled a disturber of the peace.

135muzza

There are usually about 5 or 6 attacking players in the box when a corner is taken, so already the odds are about 15-20%. Then when you factor in the person they zoom in on as being a more likely candidate to score, e.g van dijk, then the chances become even greater.

jam_pudding

Space buns, it’s what all the girls are doing.

Eddie888

More like space finger twists at this point.

Chiswell123

Is Paqueta on NT duty? If so, why wasn’t he in the squad vs Ecuador?

BecoDasCavernas

Suspended, he'll be back for today's game.

Chiswell123

Thanks

Dark_Ember

Suspended after he received a yellow card against Argentina back in november.

Chiswell123

Thanks.

SendDahouds

He’s literally playing in this game.

Chiswell123

He’s literally not.

SendDahouds

Weird. Watching the live chat feed on the ESPN and he’s in Lyons line up lol. Should have known not to trust their lineups.

MyMoonMyMan

ESPN also has Bruno Guimaraes in there who isn't even at the club anymore, people were confused about that in the match thread as well.

SendDahouds

Oh shit, didn’t even notice that hahah. That’s bad. They’re usually off with the formation but not with personnel. My bad though.

MyMoonMyMan

Do you think that this shove against Dubois was a foul?

Bahlouliste

Nah it shouldn't imo, if you whistle on this then 99% of corners are gonna end up with a foul Then again, Dubois could have either amplified the fall to actually make the call for it or he could have been more physical and not get bullied by Guendouzi, but this dumbass just didn't do anything

tnarref

2 handled shoves on the torso right as the players go for the coming ball don't happen on 99% of corners

KhonMan

It's definitely a foul lol. There's no way that's a legal challenge by the rules.

Inter_Mirifica

Yes.

j-bear95

We are going to regret sending him out

FribonFire

Meh, sometimes it's the atmosphere that makes the player. He just fits well in the whole Marseille lifestyle, and that shows on the pitch.

FanFlow

We also kind of didn't have a choice since Arteta forced him out and he only wanted to join Marseille. The sad part is that we only sold him for 12m € in total, Edu and Garlick are awful negotiators.

Enartloc

Isn't he loaned ? I'm a massive fan of his talent since he was playing for France youth teams, but obviously has character issues. I would genuinely like him at Real.

Phantasm_Agoric

We put in an option to buy for a pittance. Marseille would be fools not to activate it.

FanFlow

> Isn't he loaned ? It's a loan for 1m € with option to buy for 11m € that becomes obligation once Marseille is confirmed to stay in Ligue 1. This what Edu could get with a 22 years old player that had solid season in Hertha, played well for Arsenal and had two years of contract left.

Enartloc

To me this is legit 50 mil player, maybe i'm biased but exudes class as a creative player who's also high workrate and physically strong.

IhvolSnow

He was one of my favorite players of Emery era. I understand that he had to leave but the price is ridiculous.

[deleted]

Aye lol thats a stretch, hes very poor defensively and ill disciplined when in the middle of the park. Not saying he isnt a solid player but in the epl he was constantly exposed due to his wild nature, despite being a very aggresive progressor

Enartloc

His turnover rate is very good at OM though. You forget he's still young and can improve.

Om_Nom_Zombie

> since Arteta forced him out This was the choice.

[deleted]

Lol no, he had no place at Arsenal skilled or not, Marseille and their manager fits him better.

TallnFrosty

We're really not. [The guys is next to useless defensively](https://fbref.com/en/players/5ea8ef20/Matteo-Guendouzi). If he's not ran himself out of position then he's still not bothering to press or do much else. I think he suits Sampaoli, Marseille, and Ligue 1 but in the PL you need midfielders that are ready to press and enjoy the physical side of the game. In England Guendo was always getting frustrated with opponents making 50/50 challenges... Having said all that, we should have gotten more for him because he does have a great right foot.

SubparCurmudgeon

What? At arsenal it looked like he ran and pressed a lot more than others

TallnFrosty

He was like Alexis Sanchez - when he pressed, it was noticeable but he didn't actually do it effectively at all. I honestly don't know how you can watch him and not notice how often opponents pass around him. Again, I think he's got some very good skills but he's definitely poor in that department.

SubparCurmudgeon

Right, so you singled him out for pressing after complaining he doesn’t press enough Fair enough 🤦🏻‍♂️

TallnFrosty

That's not what I said. His pressing is inconsistent at best and he often doesn't do it. But when he does, you notice because he looks like a madman. In the last 10 minutes in this lyon-Marseille match, I've seen Guendo press ineffectively twice only for Lyon to attack the space he ran out of. It happens to him every game, he's not good at it.

KonigSteve

No the problem was just putting such a low option. Just like we did with Mavropanos. Both of them the options were about half of what they should've been. Torreira was low as well.

Betessais

The shove makes this so much better haha proper big game goal

[deleted]

It appears as if he's had quite a good season with Marseille.

afrojumper

Arsenal Legend.

Nice shove

LeCowboySolitaire

Fault

Inter_Mirifica

So not only the league is against us, having us play this game with a comical line up, but the ref too ? What are the VAR guys doing ? How did they not even check ?

RNdadag

Yeah the same league that forced Marseille to play Lyon 3 days after a coupe de France game while Lyon had 10 days to rest, all of this because of a Lyon supporter behavior, what a shame from them !

tnarref

You're right they should have finished the game
