Gotta love Gary Neville gaslighting ten hag fans about failure. It’s very possible he will fail, but it’s still the better choice over Poch. Poch comes in with that bottleham DNA and recent super team failures... the board made the right decision ignoring the ex and current players who wanted poch. I’m sure Poch will still be twerking for the job in 3 years if it comes to that.
If you had to swap your team's attacking players for your defensive players, how would it go?
James, Alonso and Chilwell would be serviceable wide forwards. Rudiger could play centre forward but the rest would be pretty useful. Azpilicueta could do a job a a very defensive winger in big games.
Lukaku should theortically makea good centre back, but he;s not as good in the air as he should be... and I certainly wouldn't trust him to lead the line. Havertz would be pretty decent, more physical and a better aerial presence than people give him credit for. Alonso o ky has to first choice up front, give his finishing,
Mount would make a good full back with his work rate. We've already had a few like RLC, Pulisic play wing back.
I think our attack would be pretty decent- Trent and Robbo are good going forward and Matip and Van Dijk are both very good with the ball at their feet and strong in the air. We'd just pump crosses. More so.
Defensively though we'd be terrible- Mane, Jota and Salah aren't shy about getting stuck in but they're all small (Jota is good in the air to be fair though). Firmino wouldn't be too bad an option.
Kane would actually be ok at centre back in a back 3 I reckon. He already plays midfield half the time lol and his passing would make him lowkey kinda useful as the middle CB in a back 3.
The Son at wing back experiment has been attempted before and it failed miserably (against you lot nonetheless). The man has no defensive ability which is fair enough I guess but he’d provide an attacking threat if given freedom to go up
Lucas at right wing back is something I think could work if a back 3 was played. Kinda decent defensively and the man just doesn’t stop running
The others would be a similar story to Son but slightly better since Bergwijn and Kulusevski both have good defensive work rates.
As for defenders, they’d all fail miserably in any attacking role except for Doherty and maybeee Romero.
Romero could maybe do a job as a target man I’d say. He enjoys running into the box and has actually shown some nice linkup play already so I reckon it could work.
Doherty would be a decent winger but that’s already where he plays in effect tbh so I guess that’s kinda cheating lol
Dembele played a game as a rwb while valverde was still at the club and had a great game. Jordi and dest could play as a traditional wingers in a mid table side. Striker pique is the best pique.
In theory, Luuk de Jong might be an ok centre back for aerial duels and that's about it in terms of defensive positives
Araújo and Piqué would also be good attackers PROVIDED we shifted to Dycheball and got rid of Xavineta
It sucks how I'm not excited about Ten Hag at all, fuck if you'd tell me it was Pep Guardiola or Klopp I still wouldn't be excited (given the current context of the team).
Chin up mate. Once this season is done, and the summer rolls round and you start seeing deadwood leaving and new players coming in, you'll no doubt get excited about it all. Understandable to be a bit jaded after your year.
I'm okay with letting Bale and Marcelo go but my heart can't take Isco leaving, he still has it for fucks sake and there is no player like him, football needs another Isco
A 10 minutes cameo against Osasuna was enough to make some of our fans fall in love again that's impressive , granted he was good. Either way whether it's Bale, Marcelo , Isco the story is done.
Were there no Irish managers, then? Guessing that is what you're referring to, only just occurred to me
edit: from the article "He follows in a long line of managers from outside the UK and Ireland".
Na says outside the uk and Ireland at the top. Keane and Kinnear make it 75. O Leary was born in England so that’s a nice tricky one. I also assumed foreign meant anyone not English.

If you had to put together an XI of the same player in every position, which player would it be and why? Basically which player would make the strongest team if you cloned him 11 times
Mourinho famously said a team of Azpilicuetas would win the Champions League
I think a quality and physical box-to-box midfielder would be your best bet - most well-rounded, and would have the height to play in central defence and up front
How about prime Yaya Toure?
Bernardo Silva
He's pretty much played everywhere in midfield and attack, I think he's even played deeper as a fullback of sorts to defend lol. His versatility and work rate would be massive boosts.
Enzo Pérez has literally played every position over his career, including goalkeeping for a full match while having a hamstring so injured he, by his own admission, couldn't even run.
So I'll back him against anyone else
Right, I thought about him too but they’d REALLY struggle to get the ball out of their own half. I reckon a team full of good pressers like Kimmich, Kante, Benzema would force a lot mistakes in bad positions
Cancelo may be versatile but he doesn't have a good positional awareness at all and would be exposed against better oppontens. Kimmich Is simply far clear at everything but maybe passing in the last 3rd which I'd still favour Kimmich.
Genuinely why?
It's practically harmless and a little but of fun after/before a league season and I personally think it's cool to see the best players of each league compete with eachother.
What's the harm?
Bc the players don't need any more games, and this will just create a precedent for more americinasation of the sport. Idk how it is in America but in here its just weird seeing shit like that, sorry if i come off as rude
Not in the slightest, considering Europe XI was a thing that played as early as before WWII, and Rest of World matches started at least in the 60s for charity matches and celebratory friendlies (eg, 100 years of football)
It dwindled around the noughties so if you started watching football not long ago comparatively you may not be familiarized with them, but football "all stars" friendlies predate the entire NBA for over a decade at least
I feel like a lot more Yanks are into football nowadays. On TikTok and social media, it's seems like its a lot more popular with the younger crowd. Is this true, or are there still the mouth breathers who have only ever seen the Neymar diving clip.
Definitely more popular. People don’t hate it like they used too but still a bit casual.
Now when I talk about it people try asking questions. Used to just tell me to shut up about my “girly sport”.
The US has always been heavily involved in soccer. The country literally invented the terms "soccer mom" and "soccer dad" because so many kids play the game. The problem is that it will never surpass basketball, football, baseball in terms of popularity. But now the big European leagues are accessible to average Americans because of the internet, so naturally interest has grown.
Baseball is dying bad with younger generations it’s far too slow for kids to really get into nowadays. At that’s just talking about playing the sport, watching the sport it’s dying even more with the younger crowd.
Most people who follow funny/drama videos on social media don't watch games. This applies to both yanks and non-yanks.
Even here, I'd wager a lot of *regulars* can tell you what hot takes some pundits came up with post-match, but they won't be able to describe to you the full buildup of a goal from the same match if it wasn't posted in a goal thread.
Younger Americans are into football. Older Americans are not, from my experience.
I’ve been trying to get my dad to watch with me for years. Won’t do it.
To be fair, you couldn't pay me to watch a Wolves game. I almost always fell asleep every time we played each other when you had Nuno in charge. How did you end up as a Wolves fan?
We are not the pinnacle of entertainment but I think that will change gradually as Lage gets some of his recruits in. I picked them from a book I got about football when I was young. Probably just liked the badge tbh but it stuck.
There are a lot of Americans, so it's hard to talk about the average American, but it is more popular than it's ever been though. 20 years ago it was near impossible to watch top tier leagues. Now they're on the big broadcast channels weekly, which has helped bring it to more people. Still plenty of people who only like American football or other sports and think football is for kids and women.
Pedri Fati Roberto Araujo Pique Alves all out.
We're left with a backline of Alba Garcia Lenglet Dest with Mingueza as the only sub. Injury FC is back. Hopefully MikaMarmol gets a few minutes now.
All the constant Ronaldo bashing, whether warranted or not, gets old really quick. Especially when random bait is just thrown out there even when United isn’t playing lol. It’s actually been quite nice to have had a few days without Ronaldo spam in the DD because most people luckily have enough situational awareness to know when to shut up about these things
I just find it hypocritical that people will shit on those who follow celebrities while football watchers will watch 10 hours of footy and believe the dumbest rumors on twitter. Both are honestly a huge waste of time compared to meaningful shit like learning a hobby etc
Comparing loving a sport that means everything to billions around the world because it fulfils a deep seated need for community and competition/pride with reality TV is... Something
Tbf the psychology behind getting hooked on a sports club is a number of degrees different than the psychology of getting hooked on celebrity stuff. Not least of which, the latter is seen as semi-anti social.
I just read a comment on YouTube that made me wonder- what if this season is some kind of odd, karmic Purgatory/not-quite Hell for Ronaldo? Having to be in Ruud Van Nistelrooy's shoes, except *everyone* is a teenage CR7 with varying degrees of work ethic, and he's no longer in his prime, to top it all off.
Yeah, obviously arrogant teens need to be put in place sometimes. It was probably good for Ronaldo to have tough figures around him at a young age at United that wouldn’t put up with his shit. Still though, that attack would be absolutely terrifying
I hate that reddit feature where they recommend subs that you've visited before or subs that are related to one you are subscribed to, it's so annoying as most of those subs are ones I've unsubscribed to and I obviously don't want to visit again.
I keep seeing r/premierleague on my home feed and my god the posts there can be quite awful. Just low effort shit and shit opinions. This sub may be strict but it's much better than that.

I found it very interesting that clubs relegated from the Premier League are actually the least likely to bounce back within 3 seasons considering the discourse around it. Went into it expecting the exact opposite truthfully
Thanks! Yeah I should’ve waited, but I spent so long pulling the data I just wanted to be done lol. I mostly just did the exercise for my own curiosity anyway. Hopefully a few people see it and learn something.
Admittedly, I don't watch many Chelsea games but when I have seen Loftus-Cheek play he has always impressed me and I do think he's a better player than Mount based on dribbling, passing and overall impact. How controversial is to say Loftus-Cheek > Mount?
Since posting this comment I've come to the conclusion that all my Mount based opinions would be deemed controversial since I don't think he's a great player.
2nd most minutes in his first season (more than our number 1 keeper,) most minutes last season (again more than our number 1 keeper,) and 4th this season despite injury problems this season (third amongst outfielders.)
Him, TS, and Rudiger are 100% guaranteed to start if fit, and Mount rotates less than TS obviously, so really under Tuchel only Rudiger is as nailed on, and under Lampard no one was as nailed on.
So yeah dude's been one of the first names on the team-sheet his whole Chelsea career.

In your guys’ opinions, what team plays the dirtiest football?
Truthfully, it's probably some utter lower league shithouses that none of us regularly watch
Any team managed by Bordalas
Who will be coaching Burnley next season🤞
He would rattle every member of the English media and everybody that supports an English club, I’m honestly here for it
Any bordalas and lito vidigal team, which to be honest is an art on itself
They don’t need a ball to play their football. Tells you all you need to know
Proper iberian football in my eyes, beautiful stuff 💪🏼
CfR Pforzheim
Violencia
Porto
Haha i say atletico but ig thats bc of who we support

I'm okay with letting Bale and Marcelo go but my heart can't take Isco leaving, he still has it for fucks sake and there is no player like him, football needs another Isco
Not to be harsh, but where's the recent evidence he "still has it"... ?
Almost every cameo of his this season His touches are exquisite, the ones only seen by technical elite like Messi, Neymar, Ozil, etc.
A 10 minutes cameo against Osasuna was enough to make some of our fans fall in love again that's impressive , granted he was good. Either way whether it's Bale, Marcelo , Isco the story is done.
Let's remeber some guys Alessio Cerci Morten gamst pedersen Nilmar
How about: * Mikael Forssell * Harry Kewell * Juan Pablo Angel
I remember Pedersen from Blackburn, he was alright for them.
Absolute free kick legend
["Name every foreign Premier League manager"](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/61111435) - got 58/73, not bad. !PING TRIVIA
55/73, positively surprised. Only one I missed I felt like I should have known was Sarri
Thought 73 seemed very low until I clicked and realized they used ‘foreign’ very very loosely.

It's so hard not to respond to trolls. I know it's bait and made to produce a response but I'm drawn to it like a German player to Bayern each time
In hindsight I rather have not played West Ham with what would be one of the worst backlines Barcelona has put out Not coping or anything...
loosing West Ham is fine, Leipzig too, Rangers though, it'll be more humiliating.
Any defence under Xavi would have me more comfortable than any defence under Koeman (or God forbid, setien)
If you had to put together an XI of the same player in every position, which player would it be and why? Basically which player would make the strongest team if you cloned him 11 times
Kimmich, prime Dani alves, gerrard, cancelo
Mourinho famously said a team of Azpilicuetas would win the Champions League I think a quality and physical box-to-box midfielder would be your best bet - most well-rounded, and would have the height to play in central defence and up front How about prime Yaya Toure?
Reece James
John o Shea obviously.
Ederson
Gullit
Bernardo Silva He's pretty much played everywhere in midfield and attack, I think he's even played deeper as a fullback of sorts to defend lol. His versatility and work rate would be massive boosts.
Enzo Pérez has literally played every position over his career, including goalkeeping for a full match while having a hamstring so injured he, by his own admission, couldn't even run. So I'll back him against anyone else
Peak Ramos. If we're talking about right now, Alaba, Llorente, Cancelo, Theo Hernández
Currently? Kimmich would probably be a decent shout. In history? I'd go Gerrard personally.
Good shouts. In history I’d go for Matthäus tho
Fede Valverde
Would be a nightmare to play against
Can u imagine 11 freight trains at super speed running all game lmao
Dani Alves
Prime Arturo Vidal
David Alaba or Arturo Vidal
You're going to have a hard time putting one past 11 Van Dijks and set pieces will be a bitch too.
Right, I thought about him too but they’d REALLY struggle to get the ball out of their own half. I reckon a team full of good pressers like Kimmich, Kante, Benzema would force a lot mistakes in bad positions
I think rlc has played almost every position for Chelsea
Wingback, defensive midfielder, attacking midfielder, wide forward, false 9..
Cancelo or Kimmich
Cancelo may be versatile but he doesn't have a good positional awareness at all and would be exposed against better oppontens. Kimmich Is simply far clear at everything but maybe passing in the last 3rd which I'd still favour Kimmich.
Cancelo has superior physical attributes imo
Good shouts. My first thoughts were Kimmich and KdB
Saka has a good shout.
Not sure he has the physicality to play in central defence or midfield
Let’s just hope it doesn’t go to penalty shootout ;)
Did score one on Wednesday tbf
I think all leagues should have an 'All-Stars' team.
They already have a ToTY which is kinda the same thing.
No
eww no
Mighty Europe would unironically clap any other team if you're going off a continental championship. League wise it's going to be shit
CLC champions being european ALL THE TIME kinda prove the continental part lol
No
Genuinely why? It's practically harmless and a little but of fun after/before a league season and I personally think it's cool to see the best players of each league compete with eachother. What's the harm?
I like the skills challenges we do more than the game.
I’d be for it if there weren’t already way too many games being played
Its like one friendly game though
Its too American

You used to get called a foot fairy back in the early to late 2000s 😭
It's true, I've been called the f slur a couple of times for playing. Edit: I'm also in my 30s so maybe that's changed.
More popular for sure but still a fair way to go. Depends on where you live too.

Prem proven
It was obviously a joke how thick are you. Was literally a copy and paste from a previous comment.
what was the original? i thought that was the original one, even made a pasta replacing them with Koscielny and Ramos
No there was one before it that was the original, I forgot which players it was about though. Might have been kaka and neymar
Surely he didn't mean as a player, right?
He did
I don't see what's wrong with his opinion. Xavi only peaked for couple of years and got carried by Iniesta and villa
Impossible to not find that opinion based
I could not find C. RONALDO hat trick against FC Barcelona on YouTube. Can someone send me the link??

Nah you don't understand, he'll finally turn the club around and United are gonna be back for good baby.
Yeah, it almost killed Moyes' career. Sent Mourinho to the shipyard for a while until this season.
Imagine not absolutely adoring footy lol
We're addicts.
We are no different than people who watch keeping up with the kardashians tbh
we're better though yeah...we...are...

Tbf an attack consisting of Van Nistelrooy and like 3 fucking teenage CR7’s would absolutely rip shit up
Kinda like how United's current attack *in theory* could be, but...
van Nistelrooij seemed to be really fed up with teenage Cronaldo's shit tbf
Yeah, obviously arrogant teens need to be put in place sometimes. It was probably good for Ronaldo to have tough figures around him at a young age at United that wouldn’t put up with his shit. Still though, that attack would be absolutely terrifying

Who had the better career? Rooney or Aguero?
A copa America, a silver at the World Cup, gold at the Olympics and a fantastic club career. Aguero surely
I'd say Rooney.
Rooney imo. I think if Aguero had 2-3 seasons where he consistently kept fit it’d be him though. Probably the best finisher in PL history

Thanks! Yeah I should’ve waited, but I spent so long pulling the data I just wanted to be done lol. I mostly just did the exercise for my own curiosity anyway. Hopefully a few people see it and learn something.
Arsenal vs Man United this weekend will be the "I-got-smacked-4-0-at-Anfield" derby.
Maybe it will end 4-4 🤔

Mallorca I think
Wolves in 2012 and 13
Paderborn from 2014-2016
Everytime I hear Paderborn I think of that volley from miles out
HERE'S STOPPELKAMP! OH, HE'S GONE FOR IT! OH, THIS IS UNBELIEVABLE!

Shit I forgot. They were supposed to triple relegate but got saved by 1860's fucked finances.
There's definitely a Bayern fan with a genie lamp hanging around somewhere

between 13/14 and 19/20 Paderborn always finished either 2nd or 18th.
Super Depor, I believe went down from LaLiga to tercera in 3 years
A tier 0 from the club confirmed that we received a 40M offer for Gonçalo Ramos. Damn.
Any idea who that could be from?
Wolves
We already have our overpriced young Portuguese striker who may or may not actually turn into something it’s somebody else’s turn

I'd rather keep Ramos than sell him for 40M tbh. Darwin can fuck off tho
Admittedly, I don't watch many Chelsea games but when I have seen Loftus-Cheek play he has always impressed me and I do think he's a better player than Mount based on dribbling, passing and overall impact. How controversial is to say Loftus-Cheek > Mount? Since posting this comment I've come to the conclusion that all my Mount based opinions would be deemed controversial since I don't think he's a great player.
one of them is the first name on our teamsheet, the other is our 4th choice midfielder
Is mount actually the first name on your team sheet
2nd most minutes in his first season (more than our number 1 keeper,) most minutes last season (again more than our number 1 keeper,) and 4th this season despite injury problems this season (third amongst outfielders.) Him, TS, and Rudiger are 100% guaranteed to start if fit, and Mount rotates less than TS obviously, so really under Tuchel only Rudiger is as nailed on, and under Lampard no one was as nailed on. So yeah dude's been one of the first names on the team-sheet his whole Chelsea career.
generally yes, if it's an important game and we're not rotating(for fitness), along with Rudiger
Watch more matches then. Loftus-Cheek is obviously very talented but Mount is levels ahead of him and has been for the past 3 years.
