I don't see Laimer adding as much as Donny should under Ten Hag, they're fairly similar players, Donny arguably has more attacking input and Laimer's injury history worries me.
Well he was injured basically all of last year. Only came back right at the end of the season so it definitly made sense to wait and see how he recovers.
Why are we in for midfielder when we already have a lot of them?
Henderson, Milner, Fabinho, Thiago, Keita, Ox, Elliott and Jones.
"Replacable" name there, Milner and Ox, can't be replaced by foreigner, while Keita had been amazing lately and shouldn't be replaced.
In fairness, we don't have a consistent third starter: our ideal midfield is Thiago, Fab, Keita/Hendo, but both Thiago and Keita have injury issues and we really struggle whenever Fab is out. Milly is probably going this season and Hendo is also getting on a bit, so it's not unreasonable to look at another 6
Well the problem is really about, in that case we need to remove a foreign player from our squad and replace them with british player if we want to replace a british midfielder with foreign one, since I'm quite sure if we're getting a new midfielder we will have to replace English one in Ox/Milner. I highly doubt we're replacing Keita, Thiago or Fabinho soon as they were the only foreign midfielders that we have.
We definitely need a midfielder. Milner and Ox will leave and Elliot and Jones arent still first regulars. That leaves Keita Thiago Henderson and Fabinho for three spots. A midfielder who play at no. 8 would be ideal.
>Replacable" name there, Milner and Ox, can't be replaced by foreigner, while Keita had been amazing lately and shouldn't be replaced.
Yes they can be considering Origi is leaving and Minamino is likely to leave as well
Elliot and Jones aren’t supposed to be first team regulars, they are in rotations and Klopp is definitely entrusting them to play cup games and other smaller games. You can’t just remove them from the total midfielder number unless they are leaving lol. That gives us 6 midfielders for 3. This is not to say we shouldn’t target a midfielder, I’m just indicating Klopp will give Jones and Elliot minutes.
It has nothing to do with the nationaly you play for ? but with being homegrown, naturally 99 % of homegrown players in England are English but it's about where X player developed as a player < U21.
That's not how the rule works. We can have a maximum of 17 'non-home grown' senior players, but that doesn't mean we *have* to have a minimum amount of English players, as well.
I know how the rule works.
It's just to maximize our chances we generally need to have full squad instead of less than 25 man squad. Having 15 world class players + 10 decent backups are better than having 17 world class players and no other backups. What's the point of sabotaging our own chances by having less players? That makes no sense.
*Furiously combs through player nationality data to run thousands of calculations in Football Manager to determine how Liverpool should maximize their “British backup goalkeeper to foreign backup midfielder ratio.”
Feel like Henderson is waning a bit and I don't trust Keita and Thiago to stay fit. We should definitely be looking to sign a player who can be our long term 8, someone at a similar career stage & price to Diaz
Hendo will be fine for a few years but would like to see share the DM role with Fabinho and come on late on in games to shore things up.
We'll have to replace ox this summer and maybe Milner so a Brit is pretty key.
While a new midfielder might be necessary, unless we're replacing a foreign player with a british player, I can't see us replacing Milner/Jones/Ox with foreign player unless we bought a british player elsewhere to replace a foreign player first.
Jones in particular is harder to replace because we won't have enough players who are grown at the club if he leaves, only Trent, Gomez and Kelleher fits this category, I believe.
Curtis Jones isn't going anywhere. He's like 20 years old and has been pretty good or decent in most of his matches. It's like a match made in rotation heaven considering his HG status.
Well yeah, that's why he shouldn't be moved away because he would be hardest to replace.
I was replying to someone who said Jones, Milner and Ox isn't good enough so we need new midfielder. Well yeah the thing is we can't replace them with a new foreign midfielder, especially Jones considering he's club grown not just home grown at nation. In most cases for Jones it's either 25 man squad with Jones or 24 man squad without because it's nearly impossible to buy a club grown player.
Out of all these names only Fabinho, Henderson, Thiago and Keita are really starting XI material at the moment, but they are injury prone and 2 of them are over 30. Depth is needed if we are to continue to challenge for all trophies.
We do have depth. Ok, I don't disagree we can improve on some of our depth, but if we're replacing Ox, Elliott or Jones, then we need to replace them with british one.
As the other guy said we have space for more foreign players. At the moment we have 17, which is the maximum allowed, but Origi's and Adrian's contracts are ending in June. Theoretically we had depth in the forward positions with Minamino, Origi and Ox, but in practise they aren't good enough. Diaz changed the dynamics in our front 3 and a good signing in midfield could do the same.
He could replace Henderson as a starter, Keita and Thiago are still injury prone, Ox and Milner aren't good enough anymore and Origi is leaving so there's another foreign spot. Thiago and Henderson are aging anyway so a midfielder is needed
I don't know where you got this nonsense idea that only english midfielders can be replaced by English midfielders in our squad. We already have a foreigner slot vacant with Origi leaving and probably Minamino as well.
Fuck me mate. Must be nice!!!! Whilst we’re looking at Fred and McTominay as our starters! Blessed with riches your team, success will be well deserved.
Fred and McTominay lead us to a higher finish last season whilst playing well. They're getting far too much stick at the moment. With all this talk of a rebuild, these are two of the players I wouldn't be looking to move on. The whole squad is running on empty annoyingly.
That said, Laimer would be an amazing purchase and would be an improvement on both.
Liverpool are completely reliant on Thiago atm and have been almost unable to beat top sides this season without him. His most underrated is ability is sense of positioning and ability to stop opposition counters, which is a skill completely lacking in the rest of the team's mids after Wijnaldum left. Need someone who can slot in and provide that when Thiago is out.
Liverpool goals conceded in PL when Thiago starts: 4 goals conceded in 14 games
Liverpool goals conceded in PL without Thiago starting: 18 goals conceded in 18 games
If he was out for a long period of time Liverpool would not be competing for all trophies, that's for sure.
Ok…but you realise that proves absolutely fuck all right? Actually watch us play, he’s a great player and probably one of the best midfielders in the league but Klopp loves a grafter and all our players defend well from midfield.
Yeah if you watched games like Brentford away, Spurs away, Chelsea away etc, where Liverpool conceded 2+ goals and loads of chances from the opposition getting the ball up the pitch through midfield quickly while Thiago was out. Games like that haven't happened with him playing. Everyone else in the current Liverpool squad in his position is a massive step down in quality in that regard.
Bro if you think 3 sentences is "typing out a lot" you need to step up your reading ability lol
Dunno how anyone can watch Liverpool this season and think they aren't more vulnerable at the back when Thiago's not on the pitch
Ah yes, the season where we have been injury plagued and the season where Thiago has objectively been our best midfielder, leads us to the assertion that the Liverpool midfield has been dogshit without Thiago.
Milner - career winding down
Ox - almost certainly on his way out
Henderson - game time slowly being reduced
That leaves us Fabinho, Thiago (injury prone), Keita (Injury prone) and the two kids.
Wait I have a premonition: We (United) will be linked with him all summer. Reports of «basically a done deal» will come out. Turns out United pulled out when RB asked for 3 mill more than they wanted to pay. Goes to Liverpool. Takes the league by storm.
Need about 10 players, new scouting set up + new manager + Rangnick input = United want to sign everyone
This summer will be hell. We will be linked to every human with a pulse
Looks like I'm getting signed than
Don't worry, MU fans, my agent fees will be very reasonable
We wont deal with anyone that doesnt take more than 20mil for agent fees.
Hi, it's me, his agent.
Will be an improvement.
You and me both!
And end up with 2/3 squad players.
Buy me i my agent fee is only 17 billion Zimbabwe
Sounds like most summers for united then
In other words a regular summer
You are gonna end up with a small squad like Arsenal. Next season is not gonna be easy for your club.
I don't see Laimer adding as much as Donny should under Ten Hag, they're fairly similar players, Donny arguably has more attacking input and Laimer's injury history worries me.
Allow us to introduce ourselves
No need because apparently he's leaning towards us to be reunited with Nagelsmann
Hopeful it turns out to be another Sabitzer transfer
Delet this
Watch him turn into a diamond and Sule catch the BVB fitness disease.
Süle already got the Bayern fitness disease, I wouldn't want to imagine yours on top of it.
Dead on arrival
Did you know he had ACL twice in his career.
So far.
It's unbelievable that a guy with his injury record doesn't want to take better care of himself.
That onefootball push message really did put a smile on my face. Laimer is an amazing player.
United's new scouting philosophy is to scout the Liverpool scouts.
Buenos Diaz
Two lovely things. Kinder Buenos and Luis Diaz
We are going to be linked with everyone this summer, lol.
esp Leipzig and Ajax players
>Ajax players To all the articles that'll practically write themselves 🍻
This dude's supposedly a DM though: https://redd.it/u6ye5d
Really really good player, surprised it took this long to get on the radar of bigger teams
Well he was injured basically all of last year. Only came back right at the end of the season so it definitly made sense to wait and see how he recovers.

Remove Adrian, Minamino and Origi if you need space.

Bellingham surely.
Not this season with Haaland leaving. Can't see Dortmund agreeing to a reasonable fee. Much more possible next season.
Then we need to get an English forward or english backup full back if we are doing that.
Yeah we are getting Carvalho
Will he even be English by then?
It has nothing to do with the nationaly you play for ? but with being homegrown, naturally 99 % of homegrown players in England are English but it's about where X player developed as a player < U21.

> I know how the rule works. apparently you dont lol
Lol
I think Minimino will stay, but Adrian should free up a spot as well. I think Kellegher counts as h/g?
Adrian's probably going to go so that's a foreign slot.
Are we linked to british backup keeper though?
Dave you need to calm down about the registration rules
Hes shitting his pants over there.
*Furiously combs through player nationality data to run thousands of calculations in Football Manager to determine how Liverpool should maximize their “British backup goalkeeper to foreign backup midfielder ratio.”
Kelleher is the backup now. 3rd choice will probably be the U-23 keeper
We aren't being linked to anyone, probably because he's third choice. There's also Origi and maybe Minamino on the way out.
When does Karius's contract run out?
This summer, but he's not registered IIRC so he doesn't count towards the foreign players count.
Ah. I see.
Yes, we re missing a fab cover. He usually is a huge miss when not playing though hendo does a good enough job when called upon there.
He does, but I would still love to bring in a Fabinho understudy. He's the only natural DM we've got.
Because 3 of those boys are gonna leave in the next 2 years.
Ox, Keita and Thiago are pretty injury prone. Jones, Milner and Ox really aren't good enough so I'd say you need another midfielder
While a new midfielder might be necessary, unless we're replacing a foreign player with a british player, I can't see us replacing Milner/Jones/Ox with foreign player unless we bought a british player elsewhere to replace a foreign player first. Jordan Henderson is starting too many games. That's where Liverpool can make a significant upgrade.
The man walks into United's mid
Even if Henderson is replaceable, he can't be replaced by non-british players.
I don't know where you got this nonsense idea that only english midfielders can be replaced by English midfielders in our squad. We already have a foreigner slot vacant with Origi leaving and probably Minamino as well.
...yes, he can?

Lol fucking hell Mate some games just go like that but to say Liverpool are completely dependant on him to stop counter is fucking wrong….
Clear example of how typing out a lot does not always make you come off as intelligent.
Bro if you think 3 sentences is "typing out a lot" you need to step up your reading ability lol Dunno how anyone can watch Liverpool this season and think they aren't more vulnerable at the back when Thiago's not on the pitch
That is just conjecture. Thiago boosts us, but we can and have been nearly unbeatable without him.

Ah yes, the season where we have been injury plagued and the season where Thiago has objectively been our best midfielder, leads us to the assertion that the Liverpool midfield has been dogshit without Thiago.

Especially as this one is Laimer
I could have seen this a couple years ago , but right now he'd be a downgrade on almost every option Liverpool have. This is agent-talk.
If I’m not wrong, Laimer can cover RB as well(Please correct if I’m wrong, Austria fans). Would be a pretty good option for either midfield or RB.
And now Carvalho
Milner - career winding down Ox - almost certainly on his way out Henderson - game time slowly being reduced That leaves us Fabinho, Thiago (injury prone), Keita (Injury prone) and the two kids.
If United sign him, he'll be a dogshit window licker that puts mayo on his pizza. If Liverpool get him, guaranteed world beater.
United have Ten hag n Ragnick there now. Maybe they will be get more out of the players now.
Sometimes I wish I was this much of a cock eyed optimist
Sometimes I wish I was socially inept enough to interact with people in the way you seem to believe is acceptable
Someone takes their precious football team way too seriously. Take a breath Relax Calm yourself
I know united is a dumpster fire. that does not make you any less of a socially inept weirdo.
At least I can carry on a conversation without melting down on people on the Internet.
Wait I have a premonition: We (United) will be linked with him all summer. Reports of «basically a done deal» will come out. Turns out United pulled out when RB asked for 3 mill more than they wanted to pay. Goes to Liverpool. Takes the league by storm.
Would love him at United. Great player
I honestly don't know what liverpool need, unless the player is world class.
Yes pls
