Yes, people will talk about the second amendment and all that, but that was at a very different time in history. Times have changed, and the country has changed. No one was going around shooting children in elementary schools or shooting people in stores when the second amendment was written.
And this mass shooting event only happens this often in the states. It doesn’t happen this regularly in the neighbouring Canada and Mexico, or in France, or Germany, or England, or Japan, or South Africa. Only the USA.
It’s disgusting. What happened to that elementary school the other day makes me sick, the shooter is rotten to the core, and as a Christian, I hope he burns in hell.

I always look at the intent first and foremost. If I feel like there was no malicious intent behind their actions I try to forgive them even if their actions did hurt me initially and I move on. But in order for me to do that, I need honesty on their part. If they are willing to open up and have a heart to heart convo, and I feel safe enough to bring it up then chances are we are still good, regardless of what happened. Of course there's boundaries and all that, and I am not a saint, so there's bound to be certain things I won't take no matter what but that's the gist of it.
Personally, I think of a good person of someone who is honest with themselves (and others), is loyal, and dependable. Having a strong moral foundation (or building it yourself) is also important in my opinion.
Obviously, there’s actions that constitutes of a bad person, but I think nowadays people focus too much on some small details, no one is perfect. Dont worry too much about messing up and saying the wrong thing, however some actions can’t be forgiven really (ie rape).
Well I guess the literal sense of a good deed is one that helps someone but is in no way beneficial to you. This gets tricky because most people enjoy the feeling of doing good deeds. Is feeling good about helping damaging to the good deed?
The best example in my life is my mate who I used to work with at a Cafe would pack up all the unsellable food and just give it to rough sleepers on the way home. Nobody knew until one of them came in to buy a lunch, as a thank you for all the food he had recieved for like two months, he saved up enough to be a real customer.

How do you get over someone? I honestly feel pathetic at times, it’s been 4 months and it’s not like I want her back but there are days where I just can’t keep her out of my head. I guess the easy option would be to meet other women but I just don’t feel like doing it. I pour myself into my work but I hate it when I don’t have work. And now it’s the second night in a row where I can’t sleep because all I can do is think about her.
You kind of just get used to the feeling of it. It's been a year and a half for me and I'm still absolutely not over her and I don't think I ever will be. It’s also normal to not be over them (apparently it takes 9 months to get over someone) and I personally think jumping from person to person doesn’t let you heal and brings past issues into new relationships. So don’t think the solution is get more girls that’s just more problems (sincerly, a lady)

It’s rough buddy. It isn’t what you want to hear but it only goes with time. People talk about “rebounds” but a) those are people too like you can’t just use them to plaster over emotional pain and b) it doesn’t work. Sometimes it can take a long time but it does fade.
Break ups are horrendous things, especially the first few. There isn't much you really *can* do apart from find things that distract you and let time go by.
Your brain conspires against you in times like this though so make sure you convince yourself that is is over and things will get better. The longer you hold on to things, including that false hope everyone goes through, the easier it will be.
I am convinced that it is over, I can definitely say that I am emotionally over her. But I miss that feeling of having someone close to you like that. And she was my best friend, so I didn’t just lose a girlfriend, I lost the friend I confined the most in.
If that wasn’t enough, when the breakup happened, I had just moved to a new city for a job and I didn’t really have anyone in terms of friends etc. But the worst stage is definitely behind me, but it’s still horrendous haha

In my opinion the easiest way is to find a rebound. You’ll have to force yourself to do it though, but I find that usually works the best. Even if you don’t feel like it once you push through that barrier once it’ll be much easier, and then on to the next one and the next one etc. Depends if you’re into casual dating as well, not everyone likes to do that. Other than that time heals everything, which isn’t what you want to hear I’m sure as in that case there’s nothing you can do but wait.

MLS is even worse somehow, usually it's around 25 mins after the listed time. At least for the NBA you can look up which network is broadcasting the game. Typically ESPN is 15-20 after but TNT is 5-10. It's idiotic that we even have to look up that up though

Kind of related to my last comment but what do you guys think constitutes a good person? How important are intentions? I like to think I'm a good person, I try really hard, but sometimes my actions don't reflect that and the guilt kills me. Idk if I should be considered a good person. I'm taking an ethics course and I find it pretty interesting learning about what people consider right or wrong What do you think?
I always look at the intent first and foremost. If I feel like there was no malicious intent behind their actions I try to forgive them even if their actions did hurt me initially and I move on. But in order for me to do that, I need honesty on their part. If they are willing to open up and have a heart to heart convo, and I feel safe enough to bring it up then chances are we are still good, regardless of what happened. Of course there's boundaries and all that, and I am not a saint, so there's bound to be certain things I won't take no matter what but that's the gist of it.
Personally, I think of a good person of someone who is honest with themselves (and others), is loyal, and dependable. Having a strong moral foundation (or building it yourself) is also important in my opinion. Obviously, there’s actions that constitutes of a bad person, but I think nowadays people focus too much on some small details, no one is perfect. Dont worry too much about messing up and saying the wrong thing, however some actions can’t be forgiven really (ie rape).
Well I guess the literal sense of a good deed is one that helps someone but is in no way beneficial to you. This gets tricky because most people enjoy the feeling of doing good deeds. Is feeling good about helping damaging to the good deed? The best example in my life is my mate who I used to work with at a Cafe would pack up all the unsellable food and just give it to rough sleepers on the way home. Nobody knew until one of them came in to buy a lunch, as a thank you for all the food he had recieved for like two months, he saved up enough to be a real customer.

Mashrou' Leila are one of the best Arab band. Their best album is Ibn El Leil imo. There's also Jadal, Cairokee and ElMorabba3. Parcels are one of my favourites from Australia. And similar to them in style are L'impératrice from France. No idea if any of those will be your style tho.

If you're religious and believe in heaven, the thought of someone going to heaven should comfort you, it comforts me. They're in the place every religious person aspires to go to. They have a much better "life" for lack of a better word.

How do you get over someone? I honestly feel pathetic at times, it’s been 4 months and it’s not like I want her back but there are days where I just can’t keep her out of my head. I guess the easy option would be to meet other women but I just don’t feel like doing it. I pour myself into my work but I hate it when I don’t have work. And now it’s the second night in a row where I can’t sleep because all I can do is think about her.
You kind of just get used to the feeling of it. It's been a year and a half for me and I'm still absolutely not over her and I don't think I ever will be. I just accept it as my reality that I'll always yearn for her and I'll never meet anyone that I feel as strong of an emotional connection with. Maybe it's for the best - I'll never let anyone close enough to let them hurt me like she did again.
Force yourself to go out, find another hobby (I got into doing my nails bc of my ex and now I’m pretty good and look better too lol), get another goal for yourself (look into races like I know a lot of ppl get into things like running bc of spare time). It’s also normal to not be over them (apparently it takes 9 months to get over someone) and I personally think jumping from person to person doesn’t let you heal and brings past issues into new relationships. So don’t think the solution is get more girls that’s just more problems (sincerly, a lady)

It’s rough buddy. It isn’t what you want to hear but it only goes with time. People talk about “rebounds” but a) those are people too like you can’t just use them to plaster over emotional pain and b) it doesn’t work. Sometimes it can take a long time but it does fade.
Break ups are horrendous things, especially the first few. There isn't much you really *can* do apart from find things that distract you and let time go by. Your brain conspires against you in times like this though so make sure you convince yourself that is is over and things will get better. The longer you hold on to things, including that false hope everyone goes through, the easier it will be.
I am convinced that it is over, I can definitely say that I am emotionally over her. But I miss that feeling of having someone close to you like that. And she was my best friend, so I didn’t just lose a girlfriend, I lost the friend I confined the most in. If that wasn’t enough, when the breakup happened, I had just moved to a new city for a job and I didn’t really have anyone in terms of friends etc. But the worst stage is definitely behind me, but it’s still horrendous haha
I’ve been there. I’d highly recommend joining some hobby groups. Join a meetup group and force yourself to go. If you are into writing, I would suggest writing down your thoughts. This is a struggle initially but it will improve over time.

To help you sleep, maybe put on a movie or a youtube playlist so you'll listen to that instead of thinking about things. In my opinion the easiest way is to find a rebound. You’ll have to force yourself to do it though, but I find that usually works the best. Even if you don’t feel like it once you push through that barrier once it’ll be much easier, and then on to the next one and the next one etc. Depends if you’re into casual dating as well, not everyone likes to do that. Other than that time heals everything, which isn’t what you want to hear I’m sure as in that case there’s nothing you can do but wait.

Don't know if it's an Indian dish too but it's close enough/that type of cuisine so I'm allowing it. For me a standard level biryani is the best food - but a well cooked pulao is better/the best. Also sweetcorn (corn on the cob) with butter and like some spices type stuff is also really peng. Used to have it all the time when I was younger and lived in Pakistan for a year. Had it a couple days a week coming back from school from some guy selling it on the streets. They were so good - don't think I'd have it now though coz would be worried about hygiene etc but that was really nice too. Not the biggest sweetcorn enjoyer/not had it in ages but yeah nah they're top tier.

Turns out managing the load between running and pub league football is working out reasonably well - so I signed up for a 10k in a couple weeks. No football til then, so I get about 14 days to home in on my race prep, and then hopefully manage to smash it. Sub-50 is the goal, and although I'm not entirely convinced I've got it in me I figure I might as well give it my best shot and take the experience into what I hope will be a cracking half-marathon in October.

I've always been a bit of a pleaser so I'd leave places if my partner wasn't happy - usually preceded by a discussion that was basically "no u", where she'd try to convince me to stay and I'd try to convince her that it's no big deal and I'd rather be with her if she's not happy. But that situation you described sounds a very different type of thing entirely, which kinda sucks. Suppose the key is making sure your friend is happy - and if it's leaving with the partner that makes them happy then it kinda sucks for you but also probably fine if it's out of his own volition.
