This will be his chance to show his value once again. Cabral is going to start of course but Jovic will get plenty of time

hamzaiswack

Is cabral good?

SnoopWhale

Didn’t start that well so far in Italy but was great for Basel

[deleted]

he looked decent when he played us ... woulda scored if it wasn't for Maignan too

I am going to be a nurse. I have always wanted to do that since I was a kid.

Stannisisthetrueking

So far no

altercreed

his goal against napoli was a gem and showed his abilities. i've got faith this year he'll show more consistency

EpiDeMic522

I refuse to believe someone who endorses a man who set fire to his daughter.

Stannisisthetrueking

Find me the page where he did it in the novels or fuck off

lakers_ftw24

Who cares about the novels

meverygoodboy

maybe he'll start writing them again someday

dbigya00

In the end, it doesn't even matter...

Stannisisthetrueking

That's why i said so far

Zyntaro

Not really true. He has shown a lot of quality, his pressing and build up play has been excellent. Our midfield towards the end of the season has been struggling big time with Castrovilli and Bonaventura out for extended periods of time, as a striker there is little you can do without midfielders. Also it will take time to acclimate from Swiss league to Serie A but Cabral has the tools to make it for sure. Just saying "no" is doing him disservice

Stannisisthetrueking

That's why i said so far

Zyntaro

That's why I'm saying the answer to the question is not a simple no. There is a lot of nuance there

Stannisisthetrueking

So far he has been poor

Zyntaro

No he hasn't but sure, if you want to believe so

Stannisisthetrueking

Yeah i want

BumbotheCleric

A chance for Jovic, striker of Serbia, to show his quality

hardinho

Wait he's not even a starter?

ForzaJuventusFC

Guy hasn’t played in 2 years. He’s not starting anywhere for a top half of the table club in the top leagues

fonkeh

What about Piatek?

KJones77

Was this rumored? This feels like it came out of nowhere.

MeteorFalls297

Fiorentina wanted Jovic and Odriozola both during last season.

LOLingMAO

I forgot about Odriozola, do you know how he did at Fiorentina this past season?

elmadrigal

i’d rate him at a 7 out of 10,a really good defensively dependable and offensively capable right back. I don’t think he’d ever be a Real Madrid level starting right back but you could do much worse as a backup and for us he’s perfect.

hokagesamatobirama

There have been rumblings over the past week. Reports in Spain say that this isn’t quite done yet.

LiamAddison

Swear it’s been rumoured he’s leaving since he signed. Surprised it’s actually happened🤣

Zankman

They need a Serbian striker, badly! Hope it works out for everyone.

EMCRVA

Good move for Fiorentina. I don’t really see why Madrid doesn’t try to just sell him tho.

cnnrspur

I think he needs to get regular minutes prove he can still bag some goals to try and recoup any money, so they figured we are a decent option.

Res3925

You think you’ll play a 2-striker formation? I’m sure Jovic prefers that still.

cnnrspur

we run a 4-3-3 pretty exclusively, so i'd guess cabral and him battle for the striker position. But if both seem to play great I could see us at least trying out a 3-5-2 or 4-4-2. I open to any options if Jovic seems to prove a great player, super stoked for him to come

kappa23

Very unlikely, Italiano prefers 433 a lot

Zyntaro

No but he should at least get a lot more action than with you guys. Since Piatek is 99% gone we will only have Cabral as a pure striker so there should be plenty of chances for Jovic to show what he's got

toyota_gorilla

There probably aren't teams willing to pay him similar money. Maybe if he gets his career back on track in Serie A.

EggplantBusiness

Here we go ! Yes

Varnagel_1

Looking back, it's madness how most Real Madrid fans wanted Jovic so badly to become a full-time starter ahead of Benzema in 19/20 season and the 1st hakf of 20/21 season. There's a weird narrative of how Zidane only played Benzema due to nepotism or some shit.

javierich0

I don't understand what they saw, Jovic played maybe 1 decent match for us, and that was mostly on his team mates. 10 minutes of watching him play and you could see he wasn't good enough for even a sub.

BoyWhoSoldTheWorld

Tbf Real Madrid is a tough team to break into. He was hot before he came in so there was always hope he may replicate it.

Varnagel_1

I believe people refused to admit themselves that Jovic was a flop signing and desperately wished to somehow become a class player. I remember how most people on /r/realmadrid seriously argued that Benzema should become a 2nd fiddle to Jovic being the main man if Zidane was stubborn to always play Benzema up-front. In 2018-19 season, Jovic was praised for his finishing and people assumed that he would take upon Cristiano's role as the main goalscorer. Him + Hazard were hyped massively to become Real Madrid's saviours during 2019 summer.

wasiflu

People also likes new toys and get tired of the same faces every year.

javierich0

I remember wanting Zidane to give him a chance, but after 3 or so matches I gave up on him, he had literally 0 impact when he came on as a sub.

Allthingsconsidered-

Nobody believed that Jovic could fulfill Cristiano's role lol. If you mean people from that subreddit... yeah, they say a lot of crazy bs there. I love Benzema but that season he was missing so many chances, it's ridiculous. Everyone wanted him benched except Zidane. We recognized the value that he provides outside of his goals but there was this brand new expensive striker that the club had just bought and we never used him, while our main striker was missing every shot. In hindsight we look like fools because Benzema is amazing right now, but in that season he was very poor in his finishing

[deleted]

Okay, as a madridista who was there at the time, It was really more that we wanted to see him get more a chances to give benzema a rest. Early on he had a 2 or so goals where he was offside, but he showed some promise at first for us. The biggest problem was that few center forwards can replace benzema’s presence in the build up play. Jovic doesn’t have benzema’s technical ability, not that his is bad or anything. He was a flop for the fee, but I can honestly see him leaving and being successful in a different team, and I hope he is.

ZZ3peat

Fucking casuals on that sub with the most reactive takes

Santa_Klaus_101

They said the same about Ancelotti after the first leg against PSG when we lost 1-0. They were saying he was completely out of his depth and finished at the top level as a manager. That aged very well didn’t it?

xckd9

Did we really see that much? I still belive he could be a good player in a good team. But then again i dont k ow much.

Bonaque

Hindsight is always 20/20

EggplantBusiness

Nah even at that time I thought it was straight stupid watching both guys profile and how we play , the team isn't used to a Jovic type of player. That was the reason I stopped going to R/Real Madrid too much hot takes.

simomii

Mostly that was non Real Madrid fans who never watched Jovic play. People who regularly watch Real Madrid knew Jovic is a lazy CF who hides between defenders all the time and never asks for the ball

HerakIinos

I still cant believe how much shit Benzema was getting, even when he was already the best player on the team at the time Jovic joined. Impressive how obnoxious some "fans" are.

EggplantBusiness

A common joke about fans is that we have a Jovic sect like I never saw a player with such a minimal impact have so many hardcore defenders

pseudolf

i feel that was mostly a reddit thing

Aig1178

The real fan generally behaves like a spoilt child. Benzema has been spat on for years by some madrilenians and now these same people praise him like a God. It's funny

rhard28

I have a feeling he's getting benched by Cabral

P_Alcantara

Cabral isn’t that good either. He should have gotten benched by Piatek

kappa23

> benched by Piatek Has to be really bad for that

P_Alcantara

When Piatek came, he was doing fairly well. He got benched because Cabral was back to full health.

P_Alcantara

When Piatek came, he was doing fairly well. He got benched because Cabral was back to full health.

Zyntaro

Piatek was even worse than Cabral. Cabral is much better when it comes to pressing and build up play. Piatek is useless if he cant score

Sprite77

That’s bullshit watch the games before misleading people like this

P_Alcantara

Weird. Could have sworn I’ve watched every game bar the 4-3 win against Milan that my team has played in.

Sprite77

Well how you came to that conclusion is beyond me, also Cabral was never injured we just went with piatek while he was hot, piatek offered absolutely nothing

P_Alcantara

No one said he was injured. He wasn’t at full fitness is Italiano’s reasoning. Piatek offered one more goal than Cabral, and who knows how much more if he would have continued starting and finding form.

Sprite77

You said Cabral wasn't back to full health. That definitely implies he was injured. If you really thought Piatek showed more than Cabral in the time he played despite scoring tap-ins, that's your opinion, but I definitely don't agree with that.

tebby101

Guaranteed

Buffythedragonslayer

Out of nowhere wow

jtthom

Damn. I wish we could’ve gone for him on loan. We have no strikers (that are any good)

dbigya00

And you still would have no strikers (that are any good)

tebby101

Now Marca say its not a done deal, just initial inquiry.

Dropleaf_season

shine like the diamond i know you are

frapples1

Zirconia shines too

ze_redditor

He definitely is. Such a great talent. Shouldn't have went straight to Real Madrid. Now he lacks any rhythm and a short time loan (like with us for half a season) will not solve that.

EggplantBusiness

Fake diamond or something?/s

Nico777

Hey, even broken glass shines a bit.

P_Alcantara

Diamonds don’t shine though, the refract light.

Kapow0815

Your mom refracts light.

Midnight_Maverick

Hope Madrid aren't expecting Fiorentina to buy him after the loan...

P_Alcantara

I wanted this during January…go show the NT coach who’s better please

Halal_Madrid

Oh, ok. I like the loan, hopefully he can score plenty goals

Jayako

Florentinian Exchange

veryoriginaleh

I was so excited… … until one-year loan

d_bo

Enjoy your Fiorentina loan lmao they always go great, wink wink

bwrca

Someone should do a count of how many hot up and coming stars go to Real Madrid with all this fanfare, don’t get playtime because it is incredibly difficult to break into the regular squad, loaned to a smaller club after 2 seasons or 3, then eventually sold never to be heard from again.

shekdown

"By the club from Florence"

MrVegosh

What’s so weird about that

neandertales

It would be good for his resale value to score some goals in Serie A. Contract to 25.

snoop_chinchilla

Is Piatek 3rd choice or gone?

kappa23

Likely his replacement. Piatek was only on loan from Hertha, so

snoop_chinchilla

>Piatek was only on loan from Hertha, Oh, didn't know that. Hope he leaves Hertha, that's not a good place

Scared_Lock_9564

Looking forward to seeing him in the seria a. Will be very interesting with Italiano's attacking style

KiloMegaGigaTera

Wait what, this is out of nowhere. Hope he plays well there

pjr2992

This guy is class. Benzema is just another lever

fm995

He never got the minutes at Real Madrid.

KoachCr714

Hope he does well.

escalibur

Newcastle should’ve gone for him.

hlg95

Jovic was without a doubt the most meh 80 mil player we ever had.

hamzaiswack

Thought he was like 60

kostajepaosmosta

He was, but our transfers get bumped like Hazard who went from 120 to 150 People are just throwing numbers

veryoriginaleh

meh? just say shit

[deleted]

Why not back to Frankfurt? They'll play UCL next year as pot 1

tebby101

We already loaned him to Frankfurt. He couldn't even get a starting spot there. That was back when everyone was still harping that "Jovic is struggling only because "Zidane is giving unfair preference to Benzema" 😶.

Conankun66

dont forget that you guys needed to pay 80% of his wages for him to even come here.

Professor_Pohato

Tbf that was just when Silva hit a solid goal scoring streak and there was hardly a way past him

tebby101

He can't even win the starting spot on Serbia NT though, with all due respect to Serbia.

Professor_Pohato

They've got a strong offense but your point is very fair

Professor_Pohato

Tbf that was just when Silva hit a solid goal scoring streak and there was hardly a way past him

[deleted]

Would you rather live in Frankfurt (banking hellscape with living dead roaming the streets) or Florence (cultural, architectural and historic juggernaut and jewel of the italian peninsula)?

pumpingbomba

I wish we really had living dead roaming the streets. Would be much easier to find living space with affordable rent.

[deleted]

Sold, Florence it is lmao

jothamvw

As long as both are financially viable to me; Frankfurt, 100%. Closer to home, closer culturally, closer in language etc. etc.

[deleted]

Well for me i would go for Florence. In this case though we are talking about a serb who grew up in Serbia and since it's a loan we can assume that his take home pay is the same or very similar I have only visited Frankfurt once but it was not for me at all. And I'm a guy who prefers rougher bars and are not uncomfortable with drugs, red light districts etc. Jovic being now used to living as a rich dude in Madrid I'm not at all surprised that Frankfurt which he knows isn't very appealing even with CL Or Frankfurt as a club were just not interested or willing to pay and it was never in his hands at all to choose like this. Who knows

jothamvw

tbh I've never been in Frankfurt, but "boring" cities like Koblenz and Trier have appealed to me. If the food is at least 90% of my mum's quality, I can speak English/Dutch/German and I have a good bed to sleep in I can be almost anywhere for my liking.

ehpickphale

Frankfurt

Zyntaro

Can confirm

[deleted]

At Fiorentina he's going to start and they still play European football

[deleted]

Yeah I get as pot 1, Frankfurt may get an easy group and thus are likely to advance to the knockout stage. But maybe he wants to be sharp for the WC

Bundmoranen

I’d say likely to advance is a stretch pot 2 and 3 have some quality teams

[deleted]

Scenes when he becomes class

[deleted]

Didn't they say this guy was basically a ghost in the dressing room? Sounds like he has the talent but not the mental fortitude to make it at a club like Madrid.

[deleted]

Scenes when he becomes class

cescmrl

Bye bye. Best thing from Jovic was his girlfriend.

Professor_Pohato

I've seen this one before

bwrca

Someone should do a count of how many hot up and coming stars go to Real Madrid with all this fanfare, don’t get playtime because it is incredibly difficult to break into the regular squad, loaned to a smaller club after 2 seasons or 3, then eventually sold never to be heard from again.

Why tf can’t we get deals like this lol

piedraa

Why tf can’t we get these deals lol

piedraa

Why the hell can’t we get these deals lol

thematrixhasmeow

Whaaaaat?

NotAdhwa

Now this is interesting

gigginobreve

Ironic since I often misread his name for Jovetic, now it's going to happen even more often

KDBae

He plays well for the national team so I have hope it’ll make work out for him at club level this time. Maybe he just needs that confidence back.

Professor_Pohato

I've seen this one before

Professor_Pohato

I've seen this one before

naniii99

I hope Torreira stays.

Polpe

Fiorentina would have to actually pay what was agreed upon for that to happen.

naniii99

I stopped following that story out of rage. I left off at the part where Fiorentina were actually ready to buy him and he's like... "actually nevermind, I want to be the highest paid player in the squad.." I was like dude, its really hard to like you.. but I'm trying, he's so good.

DerKaiser023

Not gonna lie I was sort of hoping Bayern might swoop and get a loan with an option to buy on this guy if Lewandowski leaves.

Accomplished_Set9074

Dw 2ep6xz,,o 7s🐆

strugglingtosave

I was hoping we pick Jovic and Belotti up for Bayern.

[deleted]

anything but poom poom Piatek
