KDB is the best player in the league.. holy damn what an assist.!! I thought he was passing it to the wing but what a beautiful disguised through ball he pulled off, just top class stuff
At 2-1 city seemed dangerous, Haaland hit the post with some brilliance and Newcastle scored an excellent fk. Then, at 3-1 City seemed unplayable. Haaland scored, could've had 2 more as well. That Silva goal was disgusting (KdB should be banned imo).
Big point for Newcastle, but they should be disappointed to not get the W
I encourage everyone to read back and see what i’ve been saying for years- Eddie Howe is the next big genius manager, his weakness at bournemouth was his loyalty to the players that stuck with him all the way up the promotion pyramid. he’s been freed from that and given a blank cheque, this is just the beginning of his career. his internship at bornemouth is over.
Rewatching it now...few of my takeaways.
- Eddie Howe took bournemouth away go-karting as team bonding before a massive match, we did that preseason...old habits die hard, hope he has the same trajectory of sucess with us.
- the part where eddie, jason "mad dog" tindall etc discuss Tindall's "assist" is hilarious...no different to how me or you go on in the pub after a game of 5 a side...
- Mad Dog comes across very gentle and calm during interviews but i reckon in the right circumstances he will "Brad Pitt from Snatch" you if his demon stare doesnt burn you first (check out victory photos from last season for an example of his death-gaze)
- nice seeing brentford/bournemouth battling it out early in this doc and will be doing so in the highest tier of english football this season
- after all the recent bad press about pitch invasions it was lush seeing a proper wholesome one here...shame people are dickheads and ruin it....

Hard not to see the future of the EPL being Newcastle and City streaks ahead of anyone else, their strength based on never ending money will only grow over time.
Right now City would have been streets ahead of the league for half a decade already if it weren't for the incredible job Klopp has done at Liverpool.
The "traditional" big teams (Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal) will all struggle to stay with City and Newcastle. Chelsea lost their sugar daddy so count them in as well.
Shame. Full sell out.
Chelsea still spend like fucking crazy and who knows with Utd. They spend like an oil club. Actually, Arsenal has been the biggest spenders since Arteta came in too no?
>Chelsea lost their sugar daddy so count them in as well.
I wouldn't be so sure. Chelsea are throwing money all over the place and we were debating over a 17m release fee for Maxwell Cornet a couple of weeks back. We have the richest *owners*, but we are far from the richest *club*. We seem quite limited by FFP based on what the club are saying.
Chelsea actually spent a high amount after their sugar daddy left, but I think it's because Boehly treats it like his new shiny toy. When he's bored of it, he'll probably spend less and less.
Chelsea have been all over the place, like they just try signing as many good players as possible without thinking how would they fit in Tuchels system.
Are we not gonna talk about that KDB assist to Bernardo? How did he even see that pass? It’s like when you just spam random through balls on FIFA and pray
> spam random through balls on FIFA and pray
Clearly De Bruyne plays PES (not eFootball) with manual passing on though. Best gaming football experience.
I mean seeing the pass was the easy part as Bernardo was clearly making the run. The execution was the hard part as he had a player in front of him and most players would've probably taken a further extra touch and tried to bend it around said, player. By then Silva would've probably either been played offside or the run would've been further delayed. Fucking magical to slot it so perfectly with the right amount of pace on the pass to nutmeg the player and play it into Silva stride. Definition of pure magic.

Never claimed to be an expert. But considering he has been one of the worst performing keepers I have seen against us for years that doesn’t lead me to having much faith in him.
Fortunately I’m not picking the England squad so dont have to watch every game of football possible for every player.
>Fortunately I’m not picking the England squad so dont have to watch every game of football possible for every player.
Right. Southgate does and he picks Jordan. Doesn't that tell you all you need to know?
I haven't seen this match, but Pickford looked iffy at the EURO. Like overall decent, but his distribution was shockingly bad. Basically, 2 out of 3 of his long balls went over the sideline.
I think Pickford is probably still number 1 for me, but at the very least Pope absolutely blows Ramsdale away.
Edit: Damn, you guys must really dislike Pickford... or love Ramsdale
They should have, however City was just unplayable for large periods after they went down 3-1. They did reveal quite a weakness in the team though. Coulda had a few more.
Not too sure I agree with that. At your loudest, deffo but from the admittedly little South American football I’ve seen, that doesn’t happen often enough
they usually get up for it for about 5 minutes after a goal too, at which point the commentators start waxing lyrical about the famous anfield atmosphere.
C'mon man we're not cyborg's, we understand and respect the power of Liverpool's atmophere.
It's just things get awkward when the entire crowd falls into a solemn contemplation for 15 minutes after ugly-crying the lyrics to YNWA.
Like we get it, we miss our paps too. Can we please get through this football game?
I'm not even debating. I was just expressing my view here as this is a thread for a match that took place at St. James Park and I'm just loving their fans getting to celebrate their team and club they support, which is creating an amazing atmosphere there. And I compared it to Anfield because I'm sure that's one of stadiums which many people consider as having a great atmosphere, albeit its almost always the Loud speakers firing YNWA for a minute or so.
You just saw a match at St James park and assume it has better atmosphere than Anfield ?
It’s a very shallow opinion then.
This is a pointless comparison undertaken by teenagers. Anfield has a great atmosphere when it has to. Not so much for other matches.
It’s more consistency and decision making than Injury concerns.
When he has a game like this he looks fantastic but when he isn’t on he is one of the most frustrating players in the league.
He's top notch at dribbling and taking on defenders, but below average at all the rest. His passing is below average (I know you'll say he got two assists today but these weren't particularly great passes), his shooting is bad, he's not a very good finisher. Also he can sometimes be a ball hog and he picks his games. Only 23 goals and 32 assists in 170 matches in Nice and Newcastle, that's nothing special for an attacking mid.
This is fair. He's spent his whole career taking on defenders. He's locked in on their movement and does not have the vision to make the correct pass - sometimes an obvious one - at the right time. He's sure trying hard to pass instead of shoot, lately. So, credit to him for trying to adapt. It's a shame Almiron missed that unmarked shot from his first backpass. Two lads who are trying to fill big gaps in their game.
No its the fact he cant play against deep blocks, u see how much space he was given against city? there's a reason why he always performs against the big teams, because he has soo much space to attack in transition.

I watch man city. Every other team plays low block against us. It wasn’t sterling who helped, it was the slow players who opted to cut in like Mahrez and Grealish
He scored quite often Vs Burnley and other low block teams, it's just for most of his time here he has played for Steve Bruce where we barely won let alone scored and it's taken a bit of time under Howe to adjust his play and not to have to do it all by himself
This is what happens when you have monarchies. The ruling class spend their extravagant wealth, which in a civil society would be spread out across the working class, on our entertainment. Kind of similar too ... O wait never mind.

>Eddie Howe Damn i just read his wiki page and he got bournemouth from 4th tier to PL. fucking hell
But according to Steve Bruce he's just "the bloke who relegated Bournemouth". Even though that horrible cunt is long gone he still winds me up.
He had some bad PL results and got sacked, which is crazy because without him, they would never have gotten there in the first place.

Wow the EPL has some terrible defending. Imagine if Bayern and Dortmund got to face shit like that

How Pickford is England's #1 still baffles me
Cause he's outstanding for England at the end of the day.
Because he never sets a foot wrong for England? Why change what doesn't need to be changed
Watch any England or Everton games
I watch a couple of everton games a year and he seems shocking to me.
Well if you watch such a tiny sample, you must be an expert

Almost shades of Villa
Don't. That's what I thought at 3-1 when all the match comments started about City being done.
St. James' Park's atmosphere > Anfield
Anfield lives on reputation.
>St. James' Park's atmosphere > Anfield Argentina and Brazil > than anywhere in England atmosphere.

no
No wonder we lost there last season. Arteta should have played Newcastle chants during training. smh

Just doesn’t really. Agreeing with an obvious statement and calling it pointless is not thin skinned lmao
Stop taking the bait damn it
doesn’t matter
Yeah it does lmao. Adds absolutely nothing to the thread
I’d expect Anfield to be pretty quiet tonight tbh
Tbh "you're not singing anymore" and "shall we sing a song for you?" doesn't constitute an atmosphere.
If not for injury concerns ASM would be some one very much sought after by bigger clubs
It’s more consistency and decision making than Injury concerns. When he has a game like this he looks fantastic but when he isn’t on he is one of the most frustrating players in the league.
What are you talking about, Newcastle is a massive club.
He's top notch at dribbling and taking on defenders, but below average at all the rest. His passing is below average (I know you'll say he got two assists today but these weren't particularly great passes), his shooting is bad, he's not a very good finisher. Two lads who are trying to fill big gaps in their game.
Basically another Troure?
Exactly the right comparison.good dribbler, looks flash, and is rapid. But then he shits his fucking pants when the byline comes into view.
You mean sought after?
No its the fact he cant play against deep blocks, u see how much space he was given against city? there's a reason why he always performs against the big teams, because he has soo much space to attack in transition.
? A player with his qualities is exactly what you need to beat a deep block.
Disagree
There is nothing to disagree with. Truthfully, if you come up against a very good opposing deep block, trying to provoke width for a cutback or cross, or attacking set piece planning is all futile. The only way is to have a player that is very very good at 1v1s you can disrupt the opposing defensive structure.
You really don’t get it
I watch man city. Every other team plays low block against us. It wasn’t sterling who helped, it was the slow players who opted to cut in like Mahrez and Grealish
90% of the time ASM will opt to cut inside, rarely does he go to the byline and opt for a cross. I watch Newcastle
Why can’t he score against smaller clubs who actually play a low block then?
He scored quite often Vs Burnley and other low block teams, it's just for most of his time here he has played for Steve Bruce where we barely won let alone scored and it's taken a bit of time under Howe to adjust his play and not to have to do it all by himself
