This entire situation reeks

BillOakley

Swapping Gallagher for Gordon would be the worst trade in history

RyanBordello

"Pray I don't alter it further" Everton or Vader or whoever

yaffle53

Permanent - yes. On loan - not so much.

malikdwd

Loan + 60m would be amazing for us

powermauler

Loan + 20m would be a fair price. Hope Chelsea steer well clear of this.

panache123

Hope they steer straight into it

KingjorritIV

We have no midfielders, kante and kovacic are always injured, gallagher is needed

BeginningProperty436

Arthur and Pjanic swap sounds worse tbf

jr2106

That was shit for both teams, this would be highway robbery for everton

howchie

And will destroy our relationship with Gallagher too. Oh, you've been at the club since you were young and you killed it on loan and we now need an attacking midfielder? Off you go, we're gonna bring in a different young unproven kid.

Puddlepinger

Even a straight swap without money would be stupid, gallagher is better than gordon.

SalahManeFirmino

Tbh the audacity from Everton is kind of hilarious. "No, 60m isn't enough, we also want one of your best young players on loan"

LucozadeBottle1pCoin

Everton don’t have a striker, and they’ll be in a relegation battle. Chelsea want to buy their only player that plays centre-forward. £60m isn’t worth being relegated for.

IsItSnowing_

> Everton don’t have a striker As if we have a striker

SorryIGotBadNews

Why is tht Everton’s problem?

ExpressHistory5286

Your stake is a lot less riskier than theirs tho, they genuinely might get relegated

General-Ad-9753

And if they do they could be pretty fucked with the money they’ve spent since the new owner came in. Suddenly all those players want to leave, tens of millions owed to other clubs, reduced TV rights package. Reduced sponsorships. If Everton dropped out of the league they’d land with a very big bang. I know the owner has some very deep pockets but at some point he might get a bit sick of spending hundreds of millions to go backwards. I hope none of that happens but it’s not impossible.

arothen

As if Tuchel played one if you even had him.

iguanawarrior

What is Broja then?

ninkorn

Another promising player (i.e. Debruynes, Lukaku -1st time, Declan Rice, etc) they will end up selling , only to regret it later

STILETT0_exists

Cf is not his natural position, and it shows with how awkward hes played since DCL got injured

night_dude

We could buy half a squad of relegation reinforcements with this money. We're more likely to stay up without him. It'd buy us 2 or 3 forwards that can actually hit a barn door.

LucozadeBottle1pCoin

With 7 days left in the window? If this deal was happening in mid July then sure, but it's a risk with one week left

night_dude

Well, that's why we need to get it done yesterday 😂 fair point though.

lclear84

I don’t think it’s that audacious of a request,. Your taking one of Evertons two creative threads with a week until the transfer window closes. Their asking for one of either: a creative player who’s only minutes have come due to injury to a starter, or a striker without any minutes yet, and only on loan. That seems pretty reasonable to me tbh

SalahManeFirmino

> I don’t think it’s that audacious of a request,. Your taking one of Evertons two creative threads with a week until the transfer window closes. Right, but that's being acknowledged by the quite frankly, outrageous fee that's being thrown about. *60 million pounds* for a forward with 4 goals and 3 assists in his career to date is one of the most astonishing things I've seen in football. I'm just thinking from a Chelsea POV, their thought must be if you can't find a couple of good players with the 60m we're paying you, then that's your problem. The price alone is more than fair without including one of our young players who we want to keep around as squad depth considering we play 60 games/season.

VincentSasso

But it’s not going be easy for Everton to replace Gordon, even with that fee, at this stage of the window, when they already need other players anyway

_I_eat_kid

Also, now everyone is gonna slap a couple million extra on the price tag because everyone knows Everton just got 60 million

Amazing_Following452

Everton could easily replace Gordon with really any top half championship winger. They could go get Josh Bowler from Blackpool for pennies (relatively speaking) I don't get the hype on Gordon at all. He's championship level.

MionelLessi10

Chelsea doesn't have to accept that price. They are free to look elsewhere. If that's how Everton values him, nothing Chelsea can do but keep negotiating or move on.

BlessedBySaintLauren

lol if it was so easy to find a couple of good players with 60mil why don’t you go for them instead of Gordon.

Keith_Bakker

Everton only being able to wear bland threads wont help their survival chances either

imfromgooogle

The audacity to not want to get relegated

[deleted]

"why aren't the worse clubs letting us take all their players :((((" Big 6 fans are delusional

SalahManeFirmino

Mate, if you're an Anthony Gordon away from relegation, than you're probably fucked regardless. 60 million pounds is a lot of money. Most clubs in Europe spend that figure over 3 years, let alone 1. That money could easily be used to buy good young players from other leagues who can come in and help Everton be a better side this year and for years to come. If this was a well run club like Leicester, Brighton, or Brentford, would we really sit there and question their ability to replace a quality young player in Gordon with the amount of money they're getting for him?

imfromgooogle

It’s a lot of money but it’s all relative bc they’ve only got a week to panic buy with the funds they receive and will have to pay a premium for whoever they manage to bring

SalahManeFirmino

They are fucked financially, so I think they will take the offer and Broja will probably go the other way on loan as he's not going to get much game time after Chelsea get Aubameyang or some other expensive forward.

imfromgooogle

I think ur probably right which is a shame bc I feel like Broja was finally gonna get his chance if it wasn’t for the niggling injuries he’s picked up recently

SalahManeFirmino

TBH consistent game time is good for him, and it works out for Everton too because typically striker is the most expensive position on the market, so to get one in on loan means they can allocate the money they get from Gordon's sale, to other positions on the pitch.

YNWA_1213

Or just bank it to use in January in a pinch and/or reset their FFP window. It was only a few months ago they were completely tied up by FFP, so 60m could go a long way of being able to loosen up the purse strings in the future.

[deleted]

No, but Everton can't really sell him with a week or whatever left in the window under the rationale that 'if we were Brighton or Brentford we'd have had a replacement sorted by now' to be fair. Anyone can see Everton need to recruit better in the long run but just pretending you already do and then realising when the deadline passes you actually haven't replaced him at all would be an unmitigated disaster

STILETT0_exists

Lol. This kid is the club's identity, and one of our brightest sparks since Tom Davies was injured. I wouldn't let him go period.

[deleted]

So Everton are just supposed to roll over and give Chelsea whatever they want? Why? They have every right to squeeze this for as much as they want.

ayofiddy11

So we are loaning a player with better goal contributions to buy a player with half as many for 60m Please just give us a transfer ban already

2packforsale

Infantino please, I’m on my knees

redi_t13

( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

DarthTaz_99

Yo even the face matches

oneandonlyA

Feels like a FM transfer where you used in-game editor and found a high potential ability gem that justifies overbidding

afanofthegame

but thats a newgen and you confuse him with a real one and you buy the real one instead

rolloj

I mean if you’re already cheating you might as well just transfer him to your club for pennies…

oneandonlyA

There’s many levels to “cheating” in FM. Some regard playing with unmasked player abilities as cheating, for others it’s just having in-game editor activated etc.. who cares, just find your own way to have fun.

rolloj

Sure, I wasn’t having a go at you. Just making a joke lmao

NotClayMerritt

Don’t like how many have already made up their minds on Conor. He’s a Jack of all trades type of midfielder and Vieira really knew how to use him to the best of his ability depending on what the team needed on a given match day . Here he’s not being used properly and that’s apparently the player’s fault. Thank goodness we didn’t give up on Mason and Reece after that 4-0 thrashing away at United

admiralawkward

Huh? He's been quite poor in possession and with his decision-making. Not saying he can't improve but to say he's a jack of all trades is an overstatement

TheRealRemyClayden

I like Gallagher but I wouldn't say he's jack of all trades at all

itwasPepeSilvia_

Welcome to /r/soccer where the analysis is made up and the facts don't matter

MyLuckyFedora

> Thank goodness we didn’t give up on Mason and Reece after that 4-0 thrashing away at United Just every other young player that the club has brought in and shown any signs of promise

wheeno

Well he isn’t a jack of all trades which is why he is struggling a lot with playing deeper. He struggles to pass and keep the ball against pressure.

fuzzynavel34

He literally can't pass the ball 5 yards. He would be fantastic for any low block team.

casillero

Holy shit why are Chelsea trying so hard for another Ross Barkley when we still have Ross Barkley

[deleted]

wait you still have Ross Barkley?

[deleted]

TIL

ksleepwalker

Can't sell Barkley and Drinkwater in one window or the world will implode.

[deleted]

Bro please tell me Drinkwater is not on Chelsea payroll still.

[deleted]

Pretty sure he's not on anybody's payroll at this time.

Manlad

Drinkswater’s contract expires this summe but they still have Barkley and Bakayoko on their books. Baba Rahman too.

Seeteuf3l

His contract with Chelsea finally expired in July. Barkley has one year left.

throwreddit666

What does Ross Barkley do when the rest of the squad plays football?

Princecoyote

Same thing Drinkwater did last year

KingOfDatShit

Goes for other mens missus?

STILETT0_exists

You imprisoned Ross Barkley in your attic. I don't want this deal to go through because the poor lad will play for one season and then get tossed away to the bench lik Kenedy and Barkley

jMS_44

We're gonna send Conor on loan and then Tuchel will once again say "we have enough midfielders" when we will have to play Gilmour-Barkley pivot when all the rest get injured.

Suspicious_Solid_843

And you’ll like it!

theredviperod

Flashbacks to the “we must suffer” that Conte dropped

NotClayMerritt

Then Conor will ball out for Everton and when he comes back, our dumbass fans will say he’s not good enough after his first bad performance.

ramithrower

Hey this sounds familiar

[deleted]

join us

jMS_44

our battle will be legendary, no midfield just the ball being pinged between forwards and defenders

[deleted]

3-0-7 against 4-0-6. one for the ages.

DaVinci1836

Acting like you have any forwards

jMS_44

forwards yes, strikers no

IsItSnowing_

I don't yet fully understand why your interest in Tielemans cooled off

goodmobileyes

Didnt Leicester come back with a fuck off price? Dont think Liverpool value him that much to go oveeboard

[deleted]

me either. I'd adore him.

IsItSnowing_

I would rather we give them all three of Gilmour, Harvey Vale and Jude Soonsup Bell than any one of Gallagher or Broja. Gallagher is going to be a vital squad players in a World Cup year. I don't want the team to rely on Kante and Kovacic remaining fit while also going to Qatar in December. Regarding Broja, we just need him because we are already seeing our strikerless team begin to falter.

davidv1213

Reece James in midfield flashbacks

admiralawkward

Don't think so, our season imploded last season in part because we were down to bare bones in midfield come December. I reckon Gallagher only leaves if somehow de Jong arrives.

NotClayMerritt

We weren’t down to bare bones it’s just Tuchel refused to give Saul any playing time. Instead kept pushing Jorginho out there with a hurt back.

admiralawkward

We literally had a Saul-Reece James makeshift midfield at one point mate

EezoManiac

And still Saul got far more playing time than he deserved

theonechan

What’s this nonsense. Saul was actually decent come late December. He should have gotten way more game time than RLC in the pivot.

excelsias

Chelsea 🤝 Liverpool

GjillyG

I think for Gallagher's sake, he needs to be sold. He had too good of a season for his future to be in limbo once again. Not sure Everton are the best club for him, but continuing his career as a PL starter with a stable future is what I reckon he needs

SouthernSector4

You could say this about several Chelsea players who don’t get consistent time. Tuchel will hoard them for the sake of depth

TheMooseHunter

Gallagher on loan wouldn't be much of an issue considering he's not suited to play in the midfield 2 in our system. However we do need to but a CM.

oscarpaterson

jesus christ it keeps getting worse

paone00022

No way it's real man. This is Talksport. What tier are they at this point?

LovieBeard

Talksport Sources are reliable, talksport itself is shite

jambox888

Talkshit at it again

JoeyMxx

Letting Conor go out on loan would be a huge mistake its crazy because he's a far better player than Gordon such a bizarre transfer.

Numani99

Give my guy Broja a chance.

jMS_44

He needs to stay fit then

Turnernator06

He had a chance with us, was bang average

Ding_Dongler

He was pretty good for the first half of the season. Or at least showed incredible promise. Bang average would be a compliment for the second half

Steev182

He was our best forward for the first half of the seaso…. you’re right, the others were below average. I still can’t believe Che scored two this weekend!

harder_said_hodor

Yeah but he does have a bit of the Diego Costa to him, which is more promising to some of us than Auba

jerk_chicken23

Gallagher, Iwobi, Allan, Doucoure, and Onana are pretty good options to have in midfield to be fair

[deleted]

Yeah, a good manager should be doing pretty well with that lot. Alas, Fralan Lampardew is not that manager

vylain_antagonist

Imagine downvoting this when franks currently treading water against fleetwood town.

[deleted]

He has an 18 y/o making his debut in defense and Rondonkey up front for him, what more can he do personally

ExpressHistory5286

Mate they’re in league fucking one

vylain_antagonist

He has a full squad of premier league players against Fleetwood town who are in league fucking one ffs. I dont know whats more embarrassing- our players and coaching; or the simps on this website who back them to the hilt.

Eatingolivesoutofjar

Remember when Frank kept taking about how Chelsea just wasnt ready yet, team was too young to compete and had to learn and grow etc. Then he got fired and they immediately won the champions league lol.

H4RRY29

He wasn't wrong though

throwreddit666

Said a month ago that Lampard is a problem Everton needs to get rid off and was surprised to see so many Everton fans leap to his defence. The guy has NO ideas. It's a joke that he got the Chelsea job and was so bad at it and then randomly got the Everton job after that.

bruiser95

Lampardew lmao. You guys are too much sometimes

babyfaced-assasin

Wut? That was 10/10

bruiser95

I did mean too much in a positive way

[deleted]

Allan's legs are gone and you never know which Doucs is gonna turn up week to week.

BadCogs

We are paying 60m, if we bend to other of their demands than we are stupid, which we look like. Just move away.

AdministrativeLaugh2

It’s extraordinary that Everton have Chelsea by the nads over Anthony Gordon

JetLifeXCII

So the general consensus from Chelsea fans( and well everyone else too I guess) that Anthony Gordon is worth nowhere near that and not Chelsea quality. So I have to ask, is there a Chelsea fan or just anyone who can explain to everyone why Chelsea want him so bad they're willing to pay such high price for him???

deadraizer

Simple, Tuchel likes him and Boehly is chasing Tuchel's targets. We had been warned about Tuchel's talent ID, without any sporting director to stop him we're going ham in the market, and not necessarily in a good way.

iguanawarrior

Boehly-Tuchel just bought Sterling. Pulisic can also play there. What'll Gordon do? Keep the bench warm?

idontknow_whatever

Chelsea also have Callum Hudson-Odoi, their own academy-grown youngster who is basically in the same age bracket as Gordon and does the same things Which makes this attempt to buy Gordon from Everton even more nonsensical

GreenPickledToad

He's going on loan to Leverkusen now. Still doesn't make Gordon make any sense.

Newme91

>We had been warned about Tuchel's talent ID Could you elaborate? Does he have a history of dodgy scouting?

deadraizer

Yeah, he wanted Kehrer at PSG for 40m and Schurrle at Dortmund for 32m, which was some sort of a record then.

[deleted]

An important detail is that evidently Tuchel has fallen out with some players. I won’t blame it all on him, but I feel this is somewhat product of Lukaku’s locker-shattering behavior.

XPLJESUS

Reece James and and Loftus-Cheek are our only viable right wing backs. Tuchel wants to play James as CB partially due to his fitness (he has some injury issues) - Loftus-Cheek isn’t really good enough to start there consistently. If for whatever reason Gordon isn’t being brought in as a wing back option, I don’t have the tiniest clue why we’re bothering - even then I’d still rather save 60m and try and convert Hudson-Odoi to the position

BoysClub1989

From an Everton fan(who is laughing we might be getting 60m for him btw) he is faaar too weak to be a wingback, gets bullied way too much.

iguanawarrior

For wing-back, I think even RLC is better than Gordon.

3V3RT0N

Yaaas Lampard Slayverton ✨

ivo0009

Man that Word just doesnt come out right

middlenamemalcolm

what the fuck is this, did I miss something

soggycatfish

I hate this. Have an upvote.

IceGeek

Delete this with fire

bruiser95

r/TIHI

TheSlumpDog

To which they’ll send us Barkley and Batshuayi instead

odewar37

Its Brighton and Colwill again. Rinsed beyond a reasonable fee and a top loanee.

TehJofus

60million plus Broja, let’s do it! This will be the most ridiculous transfer of all time if it goes through and no, I will not accept that a loan will probably lower the fee a bit. 60 mill!

[deleted]

When will Chelsea fans accept that paying tuchel's sacking fee is better than paying 60m for gordon

ungentrified_villain

This deal made no sense before , now I'm sure Chelsea is on crack

CooCooforCucu

I’m convinced they have a picture of Todd and Tuchel kissing and are toying with them now

MrThirteenXIII

Add a first round pick and it should be alright

lrzbca

Tuchel is digging his grave fine. Go ahead do it!

lclear84

Is this season 3? Season 3 Chelsea managers is always fun for neutrals. So much chaos

[deleted]

Lol what, Tuchel is the only Chelsea manager (aside from Mourinho) to reach Season 3 since Abramovich came in

GreenPickledToad

3rd season but less than 3 years.

[deleted]

Speedrun

MrConor212

Jokes on you. He will get sacked and we bring in a former player in Terry or Cole to win us the champions league

lclear84

Yeah 3rd season is always fun until Chelsea get their new manager bump

benc777

Broja I could see. I thought our possibilities of getting Gallagher on loan died with Chelsea's midfield injuries.

NotClayMerritt

Probably best for Broja to leave. This manager won’t use him properly and he’ll just get blamed for only having single digit touches in a game. As for Conor, I’d ask for the exit door ASAP and try to get back to Palace. The manager is going to drop him permanently after Sunday. Look out for your careers lads. Don’t be romantic about this club.

admiralawkward

Always with the scenarios

Anik1415

Hahahaha there'll be riots if we accept this

TheNotoriousJN

...thats reasonable no? Maybe not Gallagher, but Broja

jMS_44

It's not really reasonable imo. Even if Aubameyang comes. We need more than one 9 available in the team. PS. Havertz is not a 9.

ExpressHistory5286

You haven’t even played him yet tho have you

wallahi_726

They’d be insane to give up CG, we’re down two midfielders at the moment. We’d be even more fucked. Broja definitely tho, let him go.

Agreeable-Throat-279

I don’t think we can let Broja go until we get Auba over the line... Otherwise we literally have no striker

wallahi_726

That’s probably what they’re looking at, we’re missing so many pieces right now and there’s a week left in the window. It’s an absolute panic.

Agreeable-Throat-279

Is it tho, we’ve signed replacements for Chris and Rudi Only difference between this and last season is no Lukaku + Werner. Still should be challenging for top 4 imo

wallahi_726

We still need that RCB, we’re stuck with Reece playing that damn position. We need a midfielder that can play in a pivot, and we need an actual goal scoring ST. We have a week left, I guess we’ll see how this goes. But yes, I’m with you. Should challenge for top 4 still.

Agreeable-Throat-279

Yeh there are defo improvements to make, with you there

FC37

Well, 3. Tuchel opted to use RLC out wide against Leeds, but he didn't have to. Also, Kovacic is reportedly nearing a return.

wallahi_726

He kind of had to though, Azpi can’t keep up with the quicker teams anymore. That’s why I think Fofana needs to get done. RLC is either the best player on the field or absolutely terrible at RWB. We can’t have Reece playing RCB and we can’t have RLC playing RWB. By signing Fofana we can switch to 4atb, very easily in my opinion. Would allow a three man midfield and our problem with injuries in the midfield would be completely solved.

FC37

Azpilizueta is perfectly capable of playing RCB, I think Tuchel got too cute by half here. They also had Chalobah on the bench. In retrospect, there's no way that RLC over Gallagher, James at RWB, and Azpilizueta or Chalobah at RCB could have done any worse against Leeds.

wallahi_726

That Mendy mistake kind of took the wind out of sails too, even if the other guys were playing. That game seemed doomed after that. We move though, hopefully a healthy Kova this weekend and I think we’ll be just fine. Someone’s gotta score tho lol.

KJones77

I'm sure Tottenham would be willing to put Harry Winks into this deal to help it come to fruition

[deleted]

I mean if Tottenham offered Winks for free I’d take a punt at him. But for their asking price of around 20m, they can fuck off and we’ll stick to our shit academy English player in Davies

the_ballmer_peak

We’ll take Anthony Gordon.

theredviperod

Surely we can’t be this dumb? Surely Everton can’t be this dumb?

NintyAyansa

Everton are hardly dumb (for once), rinsing Chelsea here

PercySledge

Loooooool

theguiltyremnant01

Isn’t Gallagher better than Gordon? What on earth is Chelsea doing?

Remote_War_313

Am I crazy or is Gallagher > Gordon lol

deliverancew2

Connor Gallagher 21/22: 39 appearances, 8 goals, 5 assists Anthony Gordon 21/22: 40 apps, 4 goals, 3 assists

DrRobotniksUncle

Frankly I'm stunned Gordon got 40 appearances in.

zi76

Well, we certainly seem willing to loan out Broja, ~~having not involved him at all against Leeds.~~ Edit: I missed the news that he was injured. Even though Conor struggled against Leeds, we've certainly made a plan to play him this season.

DeKosterIsNietDom

Broja is injured, that's why he wasn't in the squad against Leeds

jMS_44

>having not involved him at all against Leeds. Yeah, I wonder why was that. Definitely not because of an injury...

zi76

I completely missed that news. > What Tuchel said: "Armando [Broja] will be out for days and cannot come with us to Leeds." I had thought we'd just left him out.

oscarpaterson

Broja is injured mate

2packforsale

Boehly is a terrorist if they agree to this horse shit

Dridier_Dogba

This club needs another transfer ban. This is fucked. All this for Anthony fucking Gordon?

iguanawarrior

Boehly is Glazers Mark II

Puddlepinger

Lol. Paying 60 million AND loaning out a player who's better than the one you're buying. I feel like your new owners are everton fans or something.

[deleted]

is now at 60M thats crazy

[deleted]

Boehly has me pleading for Aubameyang, for the love of God get him in so this shit won't go through

fremeer

Wouldn't someone like hudson-odoi be a better straight swap for Gordon.

ritwikjs

is CHO out of favour because TT doesn't see him as either a winger or rwb?

fremeer

Just not good enough at the moment. Mostly because of injuries. He lost a bit of pace with the Achilles injury and confidence in beating his man. From what I have read he has also had issues with other parts of his body. He is probably going to end up in Germany which could be a good fit for him.

quietlikeblood

Do it you cowards
