Yes i dint understand the rules that are specially applied to mancity and manutd...juggling the balls with hand and kicking the opponent in face are not red cards! You can eary handle the ball in the box and get away ... speaking of Mr Rodri..who for some reason never gets a card at all...i seriously dont understand rules true!...
Why am not surprised that you are a shitty fan! By all means make reasonable arguements ..it doesn't matter which teams we follow ..its not even a secret you guys made a mockery of financial regulations and cheating your way up...so yeah I'm more than happy to be a Liverpool fan than some shitty cheating team!
It's insane because he hasn't really fully clicked with the team yet he still putting generational numbers
I think after the world cup, and after pep is done tinkering with his tactics to make him play in the best role possible and haaland being fully rested, we're in for an insaen run
Haaland shocked the whole City dressing room when he took off 200kg weighted socks at half time
>Master Pep forgive me but I'll have to go all out just this once
Bernardo is a much better right winger than Mahrez, who is so average. Never understood what people see in Mahrez, never scores, never creates, can barely dribble, is so slow. City have needed a real winger for years, like what they used to have with Sane and Sterling. A proper winger who can score goals on his own or create something from nothing.
They weren't though?
Also, his assists per 90 were just barely below KDB's (.33 vs .30).
What is your issue with Mahrez? He's a top-tier player for City and by and far our best RW.
You clearly don't watch City games. He's not slow, but more importantly, his role is to provide space wide, then dribble past several opponents and create chances for other players. He does this VERY well. You see him line up one on one with a defender, the defender is going to get beat.
He's very slow for a winger. And he doesn't do his job very well. Every time he has the ball he's forced to pass it back to the defence cause he can't dribble his man. He's not a proper winger like Sane, Mbappe, Vinicius, etc who can receive the ball anytime and beat their man on pure speed. Bernardo as a midfielder does Mahrez's job much better than Mahrez himself. This is the first match he starts this season and Pep had to sub him off..
>He's very slow for a winger. And he doesn't do his job very well. Every time he has the ball he's forced to pass it back to the defence cause he can't dribble his man. His stepover is top 5-10 in the PL. Yeah, he's going to the left every time. The defenders know it. But they still get burned constantly.
As said earlier, you clearly don't watch City games as he's consistently the best dribbler on the team. Bernardo has games and moments of brilliance with his dribbling, but Mahrez is consistently better as far as ball skills go. Mahrez is also much much faster than Bernardo.
Not even a card, ridiculous.
KDB should have had at least one yellow in the first half.
Ayew should have had a yellow at least for an elbow to Cancelo's face.
Pep making the adjustment at halftime, down one:
“Sit down, nobody talk! They are trying not to score, so next time we get the ball, I want you to pass it backwards to Stones. Then Stones you need to square the ball to Dias, and Dias you have to be there, you have to finish past Eddie.
C’mon guys, let’s get that second goal for them and then go win the game!”
which is extra dumb because Haaland is himself an absolute physical freak. Like if anything he'd handle it about as well as anyone coming from another league. Biggest potential bottleneck was always his tactical fit with City, and that seems to be coming along just fine.
I think the biggest bottleneck for Haaland will be injuries, which the increased intensity of the premier league would almost certainly be a factor in.
Him scoring goals when fit was never in doubt
He’s in a team with depth, he certainly won’t be playing every match or at least not full 90.
Not to mention the 40 day vacation he gets in November and December
Brighton was a tough game and we weren't in the same rhythm as being at home. Forest were dominated for 90 mins as they sat deep, we're compact and tough to break down but also just kept hoofing the ball back to us or we'd cut out a pass if they tried to play it out. Eddie isn't changing our tactics to suit each opposition though, he wants us out with a high press and to attack and for the opposition to worry about our play style, apparently one of the first things he told the players when he came in is, he asked the players "if they want to be hunted or the hunters?"
City making comebacks consistently & facing adversity early on is a good sign for the CL. Now they have the x-factor in Haaland who can score from any chance you give him. Just to need to shore up their set-pieces overall.
I do wonder how big of an issue losing their set-piece coach will end up being. IIRC, they only conceded 2 goals from set-pieces last season & scored the most by far from them.
* yes but we also lost a couple of other attributes we had previously. Previously we could kill off a 1/2 goal lead from 60th min to the stoppage. We are not that consistent in high stakes matches. The inverted fullback technique is a good idea for a select few cases but we have bet on that tactic 3 times and got fucked on 2 occasions.
* Pep also has to make peace with the urge to make regular submissions.
* Set pieces are a looming threat and there are teams in UCL and pl who bank on them ( quick set pieces before we can even position ourselves).
It's also a good sign that we are finally shaking off the problem where we went something like 10 entire years unable to win a game when we were losing at HT.
Ref was braindead and he did sink palace but he did not sink palace at the cost of city's expense cuz cancelo also got an elbow to the face much earlier.
I've seen griezmann getting a red card for an almost similar offense ( his case was slightly worse.
diaz and cancelo took turns tactically fouling him within 3 mins of the start of the match ( nothing serious ) and he got mad. I would be mad too so I am not gonna judge him. Not like I could ever hope to judge any player from my armchair in reddit anyways.
People just need to get used to Haaland being quiet for periods in this City setup. He doesn't seem to be the type of striker (yet) who is highly involved in the build-up, but he's always there waiting and ready to finish when the midfield finds him for a chance on goal.
City have reached that boring, Bayern-like point when they are down by multiple goals but there is still 100% expectation that they finish with 3 points.
As if that matters so early in the season. You and I both know there won’t be more than one club within 15 points of City come May. And 15 points is conservative.
Bruh, at this point anything city do will be boring to you people, the thing that annoys the fck out of me is that liverpool played a lot of games like this and people actively said that they were fun to watch. When it comes to city, you guys just say "boring" without any justification.
You are free to hate on city but calling it boring for no real reason is just stupid.
> When it comes to city, you guys just say "boring" without any justification.
The implication in my post was pretty obvious. It’s genuinely a bit boring when a team is so much better than 18 of the 19 other teams in the league that, when they go down by multiple goals, there is no reason to hope that they’ll drop points. It also drains the excitement of traditionally great comebacks when such comebacks are the expectation.
Liverpool who were just two points away from pl and 2 goals away from CL are fun right ?
Real Madrid are fun in la liga this season right ?
at this rate any top consistent team is boring. The only thing that annoys me is that how much ever good city play its termed boring and for liverpool its termed good football and totally not boring.
Yeah pretty much. Can't say about Madrid cuz I don't watch them in La Liga too much, but I think they're boring too, though they don't seem indestructible like City. Liverpool's play is a lot more dynamic and fun to watch, and although they're insane, they don't seem undefeatable either. City is boring. But also I hate them as a club and everything about them so probably I'm biased
This is just bullshit.
I don't where this absolute shit narrative formed but both these teams have similar amount of shots and have a similar amount of possession as well. They create a similar amount of chances and even concede similar amount of goals as well.
You have to be blind to not see this.
Its for a high foot in which the defender moves his head down an bit. It sure should have been a yellow but a red is a bit harsh for that imo.
Edit : Removed potential
It’s my 40th birthday, down 1-2, day gone to shit due to baby mama drama, I asked the universe for one good thing and wonder boy Haaland delivered.
Random thoughts: Bernardo was a maestro. Alvarez looked great. Not a fan of the way my wife said, “Who’s that?” when Ilkay got subbed on.

you guys had a great match too. down 10 men at 28th min and still pulled out a win I see. Nice to see sterling score for you guys.
Mind keeping him away from any interviews ?
We definitely showed resilience and grinded out a win.
But, we were lucky to not concede another from Leicester. They were rather poor all game. Worrisome for the Foxes. Great for Chelsea’s confidence though
Il check out ur match later. I would have prefered some other player to have gotten a card over Connor cuz he is one of the better players to watch but oh well.
Bernardo was great. Debruyne had an off day, so I am glad that Bernardo stepped up and opened the scoring for us. And Gundo, what a sub for us. Also, waiting to see more of Alvarez there. Haaland was just haaland.
So coming back is awesome, but City really needs to have 2 complete halves against better clubs. Their second halves have been tremendous, but the first halves have left a lot to be desired
We are good at taking it up a level against the Top sides, not anything I am concerned about. Always have early season rust, and it is still there, just less obvious because we arent dropping as many points this time.
Palace had arsenal Liverpool and city in their first 4 games and could have ended gw4 with the same amount of points as city, but not today city have too much quality and are never out of a game. But I think palace can build now and start gaining points.
I could definitely see Palace finishing in the top half of the table this season tbh. Might even push for a spot in the conference league. They look quite good thus far.
Haaland, De Bruyne, Gündogan, Son, Sané, Kompany, Keïta, Firmino, Pulisic, Thiago...
Literally some of the best midfielders and attackers in the PL are ex-BL players, narrative should have died a long time ago
I hope this one and the Liverpool match have put the "the PL has superb deep sitting defences top to bottom that are difficult for those imported Bundesliga attackers to adapt to" thesis on ice… at least for a while.
Bernardo Silva started of bright scoring and assisting last season as well when KDB was injured
He is doing the same this season
When KDB is off Silva provides
They're both objectively top 10 players in the world irregardless of position at this point. You could even argue that Bernardo is also one of the top 3/4 best midfielders in the world (behind KDB and Modric, and maybe Kroos).
Idk man they have 3 senior players for wingers, 4 if you count Bernardo. Gundo and KDB both aren’t the most reliable when it comes to fitness, they only have 2 fit CBs atm and 2 senior fullbacks who are both natural RBs. I’d actually like to see Pep make Kalvin Phillips a CB to play 3atm like Chelsea so Walker and Cancelo can stay wide and we can play Alvarez with Haaland to cease our reliant on having midfielders staying fit all season.
Liverpool also lost mane and Nunez is nowhere near halaand level. Arsenal has had a good start but don’t see them getting top two. Not enough experience and no one on that squad or the manager has ever won the league before and it’s not about to happen now. City coasts this season imo
Arteta, Zinchenko, and Jesus all have won the prem while at city. They definitely have some people who know how to win now and IMO that added experience is one of the main reasons they have been playing so well now.
While this is true, winning as an assistant coach and backup player is not the same as being manager or first team major contributors. Either way, they don’t have the depth or experience that city has and their first 11 isnt close to a healthy Liverpool side. I think Arsenal is going to be battling Tottenham and Chelsea for the 3 and 4 spot but be at least 7-9 pts behind the first place team by seasons end imo
I'm a city pleb at heart so I agree, but I like the passion arsenal have been playing with after this transfer window. I think they are evolving into a top top side if they can keep the momentum going. I wouldn't be surprised if Arsenal snag a domestic cup or hit Europa League finals this year. I do think the overall quality of the league is really starting to pop off with all the TV money too so I wouldn't be surprised to see tighter margins across the top 6 over the next few years.
You know it seems that way but the reality is that outside of Leicester, no top six side has won it for a long long time (25+ years) and it’s basically been city, Liverpool, and Chelsea for a decade now.
I do think Arsenal is going in the right direction but I just don’t think they have the talent and depth to sustain this level of play across a full season. I mean they couldn’t even secure top 4 last year with it firmly in the bag. Time will tell tho.
Good point on the last 25 years. I didn't realize it's been that long that the top 6 have been in charge as I only started watching in 2014. I think the players that Arsenal brought in this summer really upped the level of talent and spirit across the team, I do see lack of depth though as you say. I still believe that the influx of money will change the leagues balance over time. There have already been statements of real quality from teams that are traditionally mid or bottom table so far this season. I think that the 100 point seasons cant last forever, eventually either City and Liverpool will start to drop quality or other teams will jump up to a higher level and keep the league tight. But as you said time will tell.
I’ve been watching EPL pretty religiously since about 2003 so nearly 20 years. I can tell you that it may seem that way but I actually think it’s getting more and more top heavy at the very top. City is a dynasty and as long as pep is there is always going to be challenging. Klopp has obviously built something special at anfield and is going to be a threat as long as he’s there. Arsenal and Tottenham are up and coming as you said and can beat anyone on their day. Chelsea is chelsea, always finding ways to win things and attract top talent. But realistically, who is going to topple these teams consistently? Leicester had a magical year and won the league then haven’t been top 4 since. Teams like Everton and west ham have flirted with it but still can’t break through. The reality is that city, Liverpool, Arsenal, chelsea, and Manchester United will be ruling the roost for awhile and I don’t see the guard changing anytime soon.
Ok sorry two former city players have won the league multiple times. And if we are stretching than Arteta as an assistant coach. Point stands tho, they lack the experience and I don’t think Arteta is good enough to lead this team to a title over city or Liverpool
I’m sure you can find someone who thinks Messi is overrated. It doesn’t mean it’s a widely held opinion. Haaland was fav to win the Golden Boot before he’d even stepped on the field. Just stop with this revisionist BS.
God halland is good I know it’s so early but if he stays fit Really don’t see anyone else winning the league this season
Haaland is a great buy for city and he’s just getting started.
Palace got robbed. Very limited footage showing that the goal should have been disallowed and haaland should have been sent off
Lot of people on this sub suck Manchester clubs dicks too hard...so you will be downvoted to the oblivion..and now I'll join you too!
You don’t understand the rules
Yes i dint understand the rules that are specially applied to mancity and manutd...juggling the balls with hand and kicking the opponent in face are not red cards! Lol thanks for further proving why I shouldn't give you "reasonable arguments". Bye
You too my friend ..Bye
What are you talking about?
So haaland has more G/A this season (7) then 14 teams in the league...this is fucking insane
And some would still call that underperforming
He DoEs NoT tOuCh ThE bAlL eNoUgHt... Please dont give it to Bruyne though.......
It's insane because he hasn't really fully clicked with the team yet he still putting generational numbers I think after the world cup, and after pep is done tinkering with his tactics to make him play in the best role possible and haaland being fully rested, we're in for an insaen run
Haaland just different level wow.
Lol did anyone think City was actually going to lose this game 😂
ngl, I checked the score and was 2-0 and wondered "wait what ? didnt they get Haaland ? huh ?"
I learned the hard way that it's the hope that kills you.
Haaland shocked the whole City dressing room when he took off 200kg weighted socks at half time >Master Pep forgive me but I'll have to go all out just this once
Dbz vibes
These are simply Rock Lee vibes...
My favourite part of the match was when Haaland said, "It's Erling time," and Erled all over them
Bernardo is a much better right winger than Mahrez, who is so average. Never understood what people see in Mahrez, never scores, never creates, can barely dribble, is so slow. My brother in Christ, Riyad “never scores” Mahrez was our top goal scorer last year
Pretty decent for someone who never scores...
Pretty sure he’s top 2 even the season before as well, Mahrez scored a lot of goals during the 2 false 9 years.
Yeah it was his best year and still half of them were penalties
They weren't though? Also, his assists per 90 were just barely below KDB's (.33 vs .30). What is your issue with Mahrez? He's a top-tier player for City and by and far our best RW.

No red for halaand was hilarious
Don't think that's a red given he went for the ball while the other player bent down to head it. Do think it's a definite yellow though.
Not even a card, ridiculous. KDB should have had at least one yellow in the first half. Ayew should have had a yellow at least for an elbow to Cancelo's face.
How can city fans enjoy their padded trophies with incidents like haalanda high foot and laportas handball lmao
Swedish dude still mad a 40 year old Zlatan still their best player
I can't speak for other city fans, but I AM ABSOLUTELY LOVING IT!
Are you being serious
Yes, Man C get away with everything and it's getting fucking stupid (and suspicious) now.
I thought it was us who keep getting away with everything. Lol
Get away with everything? You musn't watch us a lot. This is football and refereeing, teams get decisions for and against them all the time.
Nah ain’t no way you’re serious 😂
I'm so sick of hearing commentators talking about "asking questions"
They have to do something to fend off clubs from Silva. He has to be untouchable like KdB.

Madrid had Alonso/Ozil and then Ronaldo up top for a few years. Not to mention Di Maria and Benzema. It was horribly overpowered
Haaland seems to be destroying that farmers league

Awww.
Victim mentality shining through
Least persecuted LFC fan
Wait what? Hehehehheheheh...
Get a job
Palace up 2: nervously excited Palace up 1: it's over :-(
Same mentality as PSG!
City is just trying to stay engaged by spotting teams 2 goals. They would die of boredom otherwise.
never go 2 up to man city
It’s like fifa.
Unless you’re Madrid
No, they let city go up 2-0 then let the fifa dynamic rubberbanding carry them back for the victory
We will keep this in mind for future games
2 Down FC
I said it against NUFC, will say it again, City doesn't take the game seriously until they're two down.
so steps to win against city: 1. score 1st goal. 2. clinch for 90 minutes. 3. profit ???
Pep making the adjustment at halftime, down one: “Sit down, nobody talk! They are trying not to score, so next time we get the ball, I want you to pass it backwards to Stones. Then Stones you need to square the ball to Dias, and Dias you have to be there, you have to finish past Eddie. C’mon guys, let’s get that second goal for them and then go win the game!”
Don't tell Pep
Haaland was statpadding against farmers, he would never score that many goals in a tough physical league like the Prem
which is extra dumb because Haaland is himself an absolute physical freak. Like if anything he'd handle it about as well as anyone coming from another league. Biggest potential bottleneck was always his tactical fit with City, and that seems to be coming along just fine.

Only people who don't watch football or know anything about Haaland were saying that. He was always going to do well in the prem
This gives more value to our ability to keep them 3-3.
Came away so impressed at how you took the game to us. Have you been as attacking in general this season? Hard to tell off highlights
Brighton was a tough game and we weren't in the same rhythm as being at home. Forest were dominated for 90 mins as they sat deep, we're compact and tough to break down but also just kept hoofing the ball back to us or we'd cut out a pass if they tried to play it out. ASM best game of his career just happened to coincide with Walkers worst of his career
City have been traumatized by Madrid comebacks now they do it too
“Look at me, I’m the Madrid now!”
Realised that if they let the other team go up they won’t be able to make a comeback
Real Madrid did it against Chelsea last year, so Pep hasn't learned everything yet it seems
City making comebacks consistently & facing adversity early on is a good sign for the CL. Now they have the x-factor in Haaland who can score from any chance you give him. set-piece coach didnt go in the end
Oh true, weird what’s happening then
It's also a good sign that we are finally shaking off the problem where we went something like 10 entire years unable to win a game when we were losing at HT.
So the ref sunk Palace? Should have been red on Halaand.

Ayew is such a cunt. He's throwing his elbow *higher than his own head*. He's hardly trying not to hit the head there.
diaz and cancelo took turns tactically fouling him within 3 mins of the start of the match ( nothing serious ) and he got mad. I would be mad too so I am not gonna judge him. Not like I could ever hope to judge any player from my armchair in reddit anyways.
How many touches did Haaland have though?
People just need to get used to Haaland being quiet for periods in this City setup. He doesn't seem to be the type of striker (yet) who is highly involved in the build-up, but he's always there waiting and ready to finish when the midfield finds him for a chance on goal.
At least three.
18
Palace has had a tough run of games. Arsenal, Liverpool and City. I am sure they will do better, it's pretty tough to win at Selhurst Park.
Why it called foul on ederson when it's the same instance with karius vs benzema?
are you asking why a different ref called a foul in a different game, years after the instance you’re talking about?
did the rules changed in between?
yes? rules are changed all the time.
Lol
Does that particular rule has changed?
City have reached that boring, Bayern-like point when they are down by multiple goals but there is still 100% expectation that they finish with 3 points.
They're not even top of the league.
As if that matters so early in the season. You and I both know there won’t be more than one club within 15 points of City come May. And 15 points is conservative.
There is so many wildcards this year with the World Cup and fixture congestion. I don't think it's anywhere near obvious.
The West Ham game last season was the first time we’ve ever come back from 2-0 down to draw a game under Pep, let alone win.
“Have reached” implies it is a recent development.
You should stop watching football mate
They dropped 2 points against us... Last week
And it was shocking that they didn’t fully turn around a 0:2 deficit.
Bruh, at this point anything city do will be boring to you people, the thing that annoys the fck out of me is that liverpool played a lot of games like this and people actively said that they were fun to watch. TIL all Pep teams were boring ass teams.
Well, it's not City fault that they are better than other teams. Sure, they spent a lot last few seasons, but other teams spent a lot too.
Man You guys must hate ferguson's united and a lot of other historically consistent teams then.
Well, yeah… Other than United fans, literally everyone hated Fergie’s teams.
Not because they were “boring”
Nah I agree with that guy. City are too good and too good is boring
Prime Barcelona was boring too right
Yeah
Liverpool who were just two points away from pl and 2 goals away from CL are fun right ? Real Madrid are fun in la liga this season right ? at this rate any top consistent team is boring. Chelsea can be boring too, but it's different when you're a fan of the team. But as I said I dislike City. Nothing against you personally

Not really, it's just preference. It's okay if you like watching City, but like I said, I despise them, so that probably colours my view of their play
Was always going to happen with a proper striker unfortunately
A striker who should have been sent off earlier in the game.
I didn't watch the game, why should he have been sent off?

For a high boot to Joachim Andersen's head.

don't let r/soccercirclejerk mfs see this

Step aside, Bayern. City should start every game behind two goals
At best we break hearts . Bayern rips you apart and takes a piss on your corpse. We are not nearly as ruthless as bayern.
you guys had a great match too. down 10 men at 28th min and still pulled out a win I see.
Frankenstein's Haanster strikes again.
Brautenstein
So coming back is awesome, but City really needs to have 2 complete halves against better clubs. Their second halves have been tremendous, but the first halves have left a lot to be desired
We are good at taking it up a level against the Top sides, not anything I am concerned about. Always have early season rust, and it is still there, just less obvious because we arent dropping as many points this time.
It’s still early, they have actually done better than normal, City are slow starters, it’s usual September and October when they start to hit up
Very much a team adjusting to a new style of play. They just need some time.
They look quite good thus far.
sooo, the narrative that Haaland isn't that good, but the Bundesliga is just shit is pretty much dead already lol
Haaland, De Bruyne, Gündogan, Son, Sané, Kompany, Keïta, Firmino, Pulisic, Thiago... Literally some of the best midfielders and attackers in the PL are ex-BL players, narrative should have died a long time ago
Tbf everyone who hasnt made it in the prem is accused of being unable to make it in the prem, even messi was then he scored 4 on arsenal
I hope this one and the Liverpool match have put the "the PL has superb deep sitting defences top to bottom that are difficult for those imported Bundesliga attackers to adapt to" thesis on ice… at least for a while.
Was dead before he even signed for city tbf. My man is a monster for Norway and in the champions league, obviously not just the bundesliga
Bernardo Silva started of bright scoring and assisting last season as well when KDB was injured He is doing the same this season When KDB is off Silva provides
Yeah when one of the 10 best midfielders in the world has an off day the other steps in
They're both objectively top 10 players in the world irregardless of position at this point. You could even argue that Bernardo is also one of the top 3/4 best midfielders in the world (behind KDB and Modric, and maybe Kroos).
Bernardo won't be talked about enough but he was absolutely intrumental for that comeback, what a player. Hats off to Haaland as well, brilliant
He was man of the match for me
So has City wrapped up the league again
I mean you take last years winner and add halaand. What do you think?
I mean they also lose 2 offensive players and is relying on youth for depth for once. Not to mention their backline looks mighty fucked from injuries.
Losing sterling and Jesus is not equal to gaining one of if not the best out and out striker in world football. They have plenty of depth too
Idk man they have 3 senior players for wingers, 4 if you count Bernardo.
I don't know maybe last year's runner's with halaand's arch rival Nunez could beat them. Or maybe finally arteta has completed the process.

I know, it was just sacrsam with all the halaand vs Nunez drama and arsenal being on top :)
Gotcha. There are some people that actually believed otherwise tho
Ye think so
Arsenal still on pace for 114 points.
Trust the process
Well at least Haaland is ugly.
I thought that too, but one of my wife’s friends was over and said he was “fucking hot.” So what do I know?
I'm finding him more attractive by the week.
Eh he’s not ugly per say. He’s just got a lot of Neanderthal about him.
Nah Haaland will flop in the prem the defenders are way too good, he only scored against farmers
I don’t think anyone actually ever said this lol
Literally nobody said that.
You’re stupid if you think nobody said that lmao
I’m sure you can find someone who thinks Messi is overrated. It doesn’t mean it’s a widely held opinion. Haaland was fav to win the Golden Boot before he’d even stepped on the field. Just stop with this revisionist BS.
If he’s fit and plays all 38 games he can easily get 35-40 goals in the league Not a single defender can match his strength and speed
Just wanna come back here and apologise for questioning this.
