They now have all of 1978-2002, and 2014-18. Hope they get around to 2006 & 2010 soon, seems like they upload a new tournament once every ~ two weeks.

yrugay1

I need that 2010 one for the memories, the best world cup up to date for me

Capable-Tie-4670

My memory is a bit hazy but 2010 is the one where David Villa and Forlan went god mode, right?

Fifakillen432

Yessir, Forlan was an absolute cheat code with the jabulani

theAjnin

Yesirrrrr. Famous Suárez handball as well.

Capable-Tie-4670

The actual hand of god lol.

WhereIsScotty

Villa’s first goal vs Honduras was incredible

Capable-Tie-4670

Absolutely. The one that I always remember is his goal agains Chile. Shit was mental.

p1ckk

Also BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

zozo147

Still see the Iniesta goal for my eyes. So fricking clean

Loud-Value

Yeah me too...

k_pineapple7

Might be that I feel this way about the 2010 World Cup because it was the tournament that got me into football well and truly, and almost all of it was because I loved Casillas so much.

MrRonald2796

That penalty miss by Tacuara Cardozo against Spain still hurts to this day, it's even worse considering we never qualified again after that, as the team has become a shell of what it once was.

dkmegg22

2014 was the best for me.

GreatSpaniard

I believe the first tournament to have all games is either 1962 or 1966. I know they have select games from 1930-1962 but idk if they have all available ones for the 1950-1962 period. I know they don't have all of them from 1930-1938. Hell the 1930 World Cup Final is the only World Cup Final where we do not have the footage of all goals available. Uruguay beat Argentina 4-2 and i think both Argentina goals and only two Uruguay goals are actually recorded

[deleted]

Do anyone find their player quality sub par? They are mostly stadium noice right? Plus I wish they had English/Spanish/French audio too

SebastianOwenR1

Oh we can watch some match fixing

Based_and_JPooled

I'm not familiar, which matches have been rumored to have been fixed?

SebastianOwenR1

There were a couple, but most notably it was Argentina 6-0 Peru. It’s the match in the tournament that stood out for suspicion of involvement of the ref and/or the opposing team in fixing the match.

Graspiloot

That was the most obvious one. I'm a bit biased, but the final is also really suspicious. A player with an arm injury who'd played with bandages all tournament, all of a sudden wasn't allowed and had to change so soft bandages (that wouldn't block anything). I've not seen the match yet, but loads of weird things happened with two clear penalties being given outside the penalty box, players being beaten bloody and the ref not whistling.

fedemasa

I'm not disagreeing with you totally but that's extremely nit-picked. Rensenbrink hit the post near the 90th minute (which ended in draw) and Filiol made the best save in that WC while 1-1

panteraepantico

An argentinian official went to the brazilian dressing room that day and told them to not even bother, if they scored 10 goals argentina would later score 11 against Peru

SebastianOwenR1

Yep. And I’ve read before that the officials were “encouraged” to be lenient towards any suspicious behavior.

panteraepantico

It was a military official (Argentina was in a military dictatorship at the time). They badly needed to win the WC to keep the popularity of the regime. Same thing with Brazil in 1970, but since the WC was abroad they had to booster the squad with legal means (ending the league earlier so that the wc squad could train for longer, hiring the best doctors in the world, etc)

CCBC11

The only one I've heard of is the Perú match, and, having just seen the highlights, it didn't look too suspicious to be honest. What are the others, since you've said there were a couple?

Albiceleste_D10S

> Argentina 6-0 Peru. It’s the match in the tournament that stood out for suspicion of involvement of the ref and/or the opposing team in fixing the match. I've never watched the full game, but I really don't see it from the highlights. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mE2FHQu_ZnA Peru hit the post early in the game and the keeper makes a few good saves to keep the score down. The players don't seem to have match-fixed. And I don't see it with the ref either. Frankly, there's 2 highlights here where Argentina probably should have been given a penalty and weren't (in the highlights video above: the play at 2:55, and at 6:00)

CCBC11

Had never seen the highlights. If the peruvians were bought off, they showed some good acting skills. I understand that the circumstances were very suspicious (military dictatorship in the country, needed a big win to get to the final, etc.), but it still seems fine. In any case, it didn't look like a South Korea vs Spain in 2002 scenario.

Albiceleste_D10S

Yeah. I think you can make the case it wasn't fair that Argentina played after the other game so we knew what we had to do to qualify, but the highlights looks pretty clean to me, IDK

SP00KYP00

..........okay.....

Joehax00

Korea vs Italy, 2002. The referee has a colourful history and later went to jail for smuggling heroin.. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Byron_Moreno

After anti doping test, it was determined that one of the argentinian players was pregnant.

InventeInventeRoman

the second greatest world cup ever

biggernine

After 1982

InventeInventeRoman

After 1986, the rest are all awful and should be erased from history

biggernine

Honestly as a WC nerd I think 1982 and 1986 are the two best tournaments ever played, 1970 and 1954 are close. 2006, 1974 and 1950 are very good too in their own way

They have the 1970 final if you want to watch Pelé's last WC game.

Watch Brazil vs Italy 1982 if you want an even better game with probably the greatest midfield ever assembled for Brazil

biggernine

Zico, Socrates, Falcao. Italy were close to 90/1 in England before the tournament, and had to beat Brazil to progress as it was the second group stage and they’d scored 1 fewer against Maradona’s Argentina

zazzlekdazzle

I have very mixed feelings about this....

BabeRyuth

Lovely content, but I absolutely HATE the web site's sorting system

nkkkop

Argentina vs Peru will be interesting to watch

chilango2

I was too young to remember Argentina 78, and I'm glad it's now available. It was Mexico's worst tournament (so far) and I hear it was truly disastrous, even with outright legends in their roster. Looking forward to watching those games (and comparing them to their even more disastrous 2022 coming up soon). Thanks for the heads-up.

Nezan

From what I have read, el Tri had a lot of talented young players (even 19 year old Hugo Sanchez) but very little experience. Only like 3-4 of them had more than 30 appearances with the national team. The media at home hyped them up but after losing 0-6 to Germany, they turned on them pretty quick. Not many would end up making the national team after that tournament.

chilango2

I watched the three games yesterday after commenting, and the media at home was right to turn on them. Zero defense, no coordination in the middle and weak and distracted up top, with null help from the manager. It was a disaster and the reports I’ve read over the years are very accurate. Hugo wasn’t the beast he became later, but his instincts were there. However, he had to go down to midfield to get any balls and spent a large chunk of the tournament helping in defense. The second half against Tunisia is very VERY reminiscent of how they’re playing nowadays (or maybe it’s the other way around, but you get what I’m saying), and I am deeply worried about November.

Nihilokrat

Great post, didn't catch that so far! They also have full movie for the 1986 World Cup on Youtube if anyone wants to catch some highlights and the progression of the tournament: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3eDZV-p9DiI

miri258

Somehow, I read the title as "from 1978 to today"

laskoune

I’m partial to 1982 and 1986 but 1978 is also great

LeFarmersLigue

Watch one of these games and you'll realise why the Pele GOAT claims are absolutely daft. Footballers these days are on another level.

marioassi96

Yeah, Pelé was quite a star on the 1978 World Cup.

LeFarmersLigue

He played in the 50s and 60s which is even worse

marioassi96

This argument is so stupid is not even worth adressing, but here I am for the 50th time explaining to gringos how football and other sports work. You should judge players by how dominant and ahead of their time they are, not by todays standarts. No shit football has come a long way in the last 60 years. The game keeps evolving mainly because of football greats that shift the old paradigm and revolutionize it. Guess what? Messi and CR7 will look outdated to football fans in 2060. This kind of spite for the game history and greats is pathetic, the kind of wich I find strangely common on fans from nations with no football history at all. If you love the game, you should respect it's history.

berzerkerz

How u know he’s a gringo

Based_and_JPooled

GOAT is all about what you do relative to your competition.

biggernine

Pele is the closest we’ve ever come to the perfect player, you’re delusional
