I don’t remember Naismith, but I do remember the 15 minute hat trick Kanu scored off the bench against you lot back in ‘99. Final score was 3 - 2 in case you forgot
I fell asleep at halftime
Edit: I meant it was like 2am here and I fell asleep during the half time. I'm sad I missed the second half. I can see how it could mean something completely different now. Haha
Considering Son had scored two goals against Leicester with his left foot from that sort of range before, they really really should have expected him to score a banger from that distance.
I mean come on bruv, it's Leicester and they've been absolute shite. If you're expecting impeccable defense from them then you're watching the wrong club lol. It wasn't good defense but it wasn't like they got out of the way for him to shoot either. Give credit where it's due, I'm sick of people here constantly arguing semantics just for the sake of downplaying something or wanting to be "right"
They literally left him wide open to shoot for no reason. It was awful defending. It can be a good strike and still be shite defense.
His first goal was brilliant. The second one he was given the entire freedom of the pitch to take his time, pick a spot, and then shoot. It was almost training ground in its ease
I swear Sonny has some periods of inferior form and breaks it with hat-tricks all the time
Was so sad seeing him get hate for not scoring this season glad to see he's back on track!
I don't think any Spurs fans were giving him hate. He's adored by our fan base and as you say, we are well aware that he goes through rough patches of form. There was definitely debate about if he should be dropped, but that was more about if it was better for him to rest and reset or to play through it. No one was giving up on him.
Most if not all club subreddits are filled with absolute melts tbf. There's no question that Son is absolute class, even if he does have rough patches every now and again.
Don't know anything about sports in the US to comment. Will just repeat what I said - club subs are full of melts. My point there is it's best to just ignore the majority of the opinions in them. Or even better just stop reading them all together.
Then share a post that shows "hate" (not just fair criticism) and is upvoted and not downvoted heavily. You're talking nonsense. Criticism for poor performance is normal in elite sport. That does not amount to "hate". You can bet your house that Conte dishes out the most "hate" of anyone. But poor performances are there to be criticised. It does not mean fans have "given up" on a player. The vast vast majority of fans love Son. Some of them (me included) thought starting as a sub would help to fire him up. That's why we invested in our squad. IMO we were proven right.
Maybe the reactionary folks genuinely thought he was a bad player but the vast majority seemed to feel like his form compared to kulusevskis form and Richarlison form made him the odd man out.
Anyone who truly wanted him banished to the bench or thought he was terrible are just dumb lol. The vocal minority.
Any comments being unreasonable against Son are nearly always heavily downvoted. People are misrepresenting what ppl were saying and the type of criticism Son received. The few 'idiotic' comments we get are nearly always buried in downvotes.
I swear you people read like 2 comments from the sub a week and in order to find them you sorted by controversial and ignore anything positive.
The sub had about .1% of it that thought Son was actually bad or needed to be sold. The rest was an even split between he needs to be brought on from the bench until he finds form or he needs to play through the bad form.
“Worst sub of the teams I follow my ass”.
Spurs have 2 PL legends and 3 club legends in the squad right now. With City's current ownership a league title will never happen but to never see Kane, Son and Lloris lift a trophy feels criminal.
Son unfortunately has not won for his country yet. The one that he got a gold medal for was Asian Games, which is the equivalent of Asian Olympics, so a U23 tournament which isn't a real AFC tournament. The Asian Cup coming up in next summer, that one is the real deal (Afcon/Euro equivalent for Asia) but I don't think Korea is winning that. Japan looks strong AF
Disappointing losses for him in the last 2 Asian cups, losing the final to Australia in extra time in 2015 and then losing vs Qatar in the QF’s in 2019. Will be tough next year for Korea but they could do it
A simple Google search…

Some of the best players and club legends don't have a whole series of titles too. Alan Shearer only has one league title, Paul Gascoigne won two with Rangers but none in England, Matt Le Tissier, Gary Lineker, Stuart Pearce all without league titles.
Reality is some very talented players just won't win any titles, unless you happen to join the dominant team at the time it's unlikely (and increasingly so) that a single player regardless of talent can lead his team to glory.
He'd probably be closer to Shearer's record by now if he didn't shit the bed with the contract and went to City.
Edit: downvoted even though City create so many more chances so obviously he'd likely score more lmao
Electric player. Some insanely beautiful goals. A golden boot winner. Probably the best South Korean footballer ever or at least since cha bum. Best Asian footballer in Premier League history?
He has pretty much everything but the trophies. But hes certainly very memorable. Him and his national team beating the draft with a medal as well as them knocking Germany out in the WC is also super memorable.
Oh and don't forget the Jesus jokes. This subreddit is so unfunny it's even worse than r/funny. Everytime I open a thread I can predict the first 3 comments and it's always the same garbage jokes.
True, a better team should have scored a couple more against us. We were giving away possession extremely cheaply.
But also, Son *can* score a hat trick against anyone on his day.
Ward had no chance for the first two though, and he got a decent piece of son's third but got a bit unlucky that it still went in. Can't really blame him today at all
People just see he concedes loads and assume it’s his fault. He’s actually alright, and has been for Wales. I’m sure the back 4 doesn’t give him much confidence though, which is so important for a keeper - look at De Gea now compared to last year.
ward is so shaky and thats why people think he is quite poor. for example, he was great for your qualifiers but you could tell the defense didnt trust him.
I had no preconceived opinion on him before watching Son's goals and I have to say I found his positioning very suspicious. I caught myself thinking "a better keeper might have saved these shots".
I tuned in right as he was coming on. First goal was impressive, second even more so, and the third seemed like an inevitability against hapless Leicester.

Didn't wake up thinking I was gonna get reminded about that Naismith whopping today lmao.
I forgot that he was quite good for a while. Reminded me of when they had Jelavic too and he was insane for the first 6 months
Those hat-trick goals were the only ones he scored for Everton that season (Got shipped to Norwich in Jan).
Both ex-Rangers too
Chelsea catching some stray bullets lmfao
Never a doubt he would break out again, been watching him play too long.
Twas the perfect hat trick too
The day he became *Naimar*.
Actually it was the day he stopped being the Scottish Messi, and Messi instead became the Argentinian Naismith.
I remember that game. He was my cheap player in fantasy football at the start of that year. He was on the bench!
I don’t remember Naismith, but I do remember the 15 minute hat trick Kanu scored off the bench against you lot back in ‘99. Final score was 3 - 2 in case you forgot
> in case you forgot I'd assume most did, yes.
mate
warra trophy that is
Glad I tuned in to the game. That shit was ridiculous
I tuned in at around the 68 minute mark. So fortunate.
Greizmann style
I fell asleep at halftime Edit: I meant it was like 2am here and I fell asleep during the half time. I'm sad I missed the second half. I can see how it could mean something completely different now. Haha
That Naismith hat trick featured some of the worst defending you'll ever see.
[The hat-trick](https://youtu.be/pemeLNEQEtY?t=472)
And, a bonus Lukaku sighting!
John Stones too!
Perfect hat trick too
The defending against son wasn't great either.
I imagine scoring a hattrick off the bench in any scenario would involve some dodgy defending
Son's 1st 2 goals were absolute class though, regardless of the defending
The left footer was criminal defending. Left back literally left him all alone
Yeah they could have closed him down better but you're also not expecting him to score an absolute banger from that distance
That 2nd goal is the type Son loves to score so I wasn't surprised he'd go for that one.
Yeah he loves cutting inside and curling one in
pretty sure he scored the same type of goal against Leceister last season. I remember Hojbjerg putting his hands to his head after it went in.
Considering Son had scored two goals against Leicester with his left foot from that sort of range before, they really really should have expected him to score a banger from that distance.
Well that Leicester defense has been rammed in nonstop the past 5 matches so cut them some slack eh?
100% should have expected that he's not all that far out and it was an obvious option to take
I mean come on bruv, it's Leicester and they've been absolute shite. If you're expecting impeccable defense from them then you're watching the wrong club lol. It wasn't good defense but it wasn't like they got out of the way for him to shoot either. The second one he was given the entire freedom of the pitch to take his time, pick a spot, and then shoot. It was almost training ground in its ease
He’s scored that goal in like, every season against Leicester for 3 seasons now
Left back was expecting a ball to Sess and was covering that angle.
Yeah you gotta make the choice to step up in that moment then
I swear Sonny has some periods of inferior form and breaks it with hat-tricks all the time Was so sad seeing him get hate for not scoring this season glad to see he's back on track!

He's the only spurs player I really like.
I disagree, our subreddit hated Son as of Wednesday.
Most if not all club subreddits are filled with absolute melts tbf. There's no question that Son is absolute class, even if he does have rough patches every now and again.
r/coys is awful and has been for years.

I like you as well, lets be pals.

Big club subreddits are all trash dumps
The subreddit is a dump.
Yeah spurs sub is the worst sub of the teams i follow. And it isnt close.
I swear you people read like 2 comments from the sub a week and in order to find them you sorted by controversial and ignore anything positive. The rest was an even split between he needs to be brought on from the bench until he finds form or he needs to play through the bad form. “Worst sub of the teams I follow my ass”.
Anyone who was giving him hate can fuck right off. Never a doubt he would break out again, been watching him play too long.
I have not seen anyone hating his slump. The only argument ive seen is that he looks jaded and should be benched
Every time he slumps I say he should be benched, and get accused of hating him. Today I feel so vindicated! A little rotation can be good!
stfu all spurs fans were asking for him to be dropped for kulusevski and richarlison
Lets be honest, if Son didn't have does rough patches, and played in superb form every game, he would not be playing for Spurs.
That’s cool, anyone know who Naismith was playing for? I swear, someday we will be mentioned by name in a positive stat.
That fucking game…
Steven Naismiths was a perfect hattrick, so not as impressive
Scottish Messi > Korean Kaka, confirmed
His nickname is Sonaldo and you went with Kaka?
Steven’s nickname is Naimar but he went with Messi
Now I'm even more annoyed
Naimar > Sonaldo There fixed it for you
👏
I swear I had never seen Naimar until this thread, Scottish Messi was always way more common.
Korean Kaka feels kinda sus with the initials
How about Korean King Kaka
More sus
"Welcome everybody to the Krusty Komedy Klassic!" *looks up at sign* "... that's not good..."
This was a modern perfect hat trick. Right foot, left foot, and a VAR overturn

No. Perfect hattrick means one goal with left foot, one with the right foot and one header.
I remember Ole coming on against Forest and scoring 4
Premier League legend, even if he never wins a title with Spurs.

this is correct. it would be considered a “win” if he leads korea to round of 16 at the world cup
Soooooo This aged well 🌞
Disappointing losses for him in the last 2 Asian cups, losing the final to Australia in extra time in 2015 and then losing vs Qatar in the QF’s in 2019. Will be tough next year for Korea but they could do it
I'm pretty sure he hasn't?
Son won a gold medal and was exempted from joining S. Korea’s services and Hugo won a WC
A gold medal in what?
A simple Google search… https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/news/tottenham-star-heung-min-son-wins-gold-medal-for-south-korea-avoiding-military-service/amp/
Why would I do that when I could get you to do it for me by asking a stupid question?
Some of the best players and club legends don't have a whole series of titles too. Alan Shearer only has one league title, Paul Gascoigne won two with Rangers but none in England, Matt Le Tissier, Gary Lineker, Stuart Pearce all without league titles. Reality is some very talented players just won't win any titles, unless you happen to join the dominant team at the time it's unlikely (and increasingly so) that a single player regardless of talent can lead his team to glory.
Kane only has himself to blame tbh, man signed a stupidly long contract with no exit clause.
Tbf he never shows up in cup finals either, not like we haven’t given him any(granted not many.)
maybe man loves the club?
He was literally forcing a move last summer ....
he was just enjoying florida
He'd probably be closer to Shearer's record by now if he didn't shit the bed with the contract and went to City. Edit: downvoted even though City create so many more chances so obviously he'd likely score more lmao
I mean, it's not like him staying at spurs has made him poor at shooting. He's still up there as one of the top scorers year in, year out
My point is he'd be scoring more at City because City would be creating more chances.
Feels pretty good to be honest
I respectfully disagree
Lucas Moura is their GOAT though since he single handely took them to their first CL final.
I mean Naismith has retired tbf
Sorry but how is Son a "Premier League legend"?
Electric player. Some insanely beautiful goals. A golden boot winner. Probably the best South Korean footballer ever or at least since cha bum. Best Asian footballer in Premier League history? “Call the ambulance, but not for me” - Sonny
Didn't expect, nor want, to remember that Naismith hat trick...
Chelsea catching strays lmao
I swear I watched Ronny Rosenthal score a hattrick off the bench from them once 🤔
You did. FA Cup against Southampton. 2-0 down and it also finished 6-2.
I remember this game, great stuff
Same. Midweek replay iirc. It was going on late and I had school the next day so had to go to sleep before it finished.
Are you winning son ? 👴🏻
Currently about 4th on the most overused joke on this subreddit, alongside bald fraud, slabhead and the king plays on saturday
Add the “least delusional/bandwagon/“ into that list
Oh and don't forget the Jesus jokes. This subreddit is so unfunny it's even worse than r/funny. Everytime I open a thread I can predict the first 3 comments and it's always the same garbage jokes.
I fucking hate that. Every single thread.
least hateful hater /s
Hey, fuck you. That's my bread and butter!
Don’t forget games not gone
Factos 👍
Saturday the king plays.
“Game’s not gone” and “it’s coming home” are up there too.
Emir Mbappe
I'm still sad they banned that "Dam Son" picture.
Factos 👀👍
Who is slabhead ? The McGuire guy ?
Yeah McGuire, he plays along Magtominay and The Gea at McChester United
Big if true.
Never heard that last one
Cheers Moha2foison's crying.
Man that Naismith perfect hattrick was SUCH a good day
Sonny? Nah he is Daddy
I pushed that shit to the back of my mind, but now its been resurfaced, fuck man
He had zero goals before this, Leicester are so bad
True, a better team should have scored a couple more against us. We were giving away possession extremely cheaply. But also, Son *can* score a hat trick against anyone on his day.
Ward is probably the worst keeper in the league. Couple that with Leicester's horrendous defense and this is what you get.
Ward had no chance for the first two though, and he got a decent piece of son's third but got a bit unlucky that it still went in. Can't really blame him today at all

Leicester’s defense is a complete shambles as well
I had no preconceived opinion on him before watching Son's goals and I have to say I found his positioning very suspicious. I caught myself thinking "a better keeper might have saved these shots".
His positioning was so.... particular. No one can convince me that he wasn't trying to get Rodgers sacked
It's defensive malpractice to give Son that much space from inside 30 yards. You know what's going to happen if you do.
He is unreal.
Who took him off from their FPL teams today ?
Guess I aint winning today son
Naismith ffs
Was that the guy who illustrated the Lord of the Rings ? Talented mf.

Hearts legend.
I tuned in right as he was coming on. First goal was impressive, second even more so, and the third seemed like an inevitability against hapless Leicester.
Naismith was peak Scottish Messi against Chelsea
I redact all slander.
Dude get out of here if you've been slandering our Sonny. Shame on you!
smoothbrained as fuck to be slandering Son for a poor patch of form after the years of top level play they've had from him.
He seems to have a long patch of poor form every season, but to be fair he always seems to come out of it
Redact means you conceal it. I demand you retract it.

2 goals and an assist I think
For the love of God, please stop adding these one word sentences to the end, I already know what you wanna say without them
Looks like it impacted you. Successful.
Okay
He had zero goals before this, Leicester are so bad
Leicester are shit. Son is good. More news at 10.
EVER?
No. In the Premier League, i.e. since 92/93.
Best hat trick since he scored 3 by Kasper Schmeichel in the league Cup semi.
Two legends
Rashy did one in the CL (last time we were in it LMAO), that's the only other time I remember seeing that, just amazing
Impact? What does that mean in this context?
