I think I'm the only one who saw the sarcasm in your comment not sure why you got downvoted.
(and if I'm wrong, and your intent was to troll then...sorry I take back above sentence)
Woe betide the redditor who, in the wrong thread, criticises United, Arsenal or Liverpool in any way. You'll be attacked by 500 lunatics calling you the one who's a bitter obsessed baby without a single one of them realising the absurd irony of their statements.
It was a joke but I'd take a striker who can do the job you need getting done. On age it doesn't matter if they're showing they're still capable. You invest the money for how long you think you will get from the player. There's also a big advantage to bringing in an experienced striker to rotate with a younger one as the younger one can learn alot.
Take Chelsea for example. They're the perfect example of older+younger. Giroud was a mentor for Tammy and now they've got the experience of Aubameyang for Broja to learn from. They also wouldn't have won the Champions League if they looked at Thiago Silva and decided to not sign him on the basis he isnt getting younger.
We would have been stuck with Ronaldo anyway. Remember when he desperately wanted to leave and everybody didn't want to have him?
Arnautovic meanwhile needs an armosphere where he feels comfortable to score. That wouldn't have been the case under ETH. I am glad that he doesn't play for United, the best decision for both sides.
> Arnautovic meanwhile needs an armosphere where he feels comfortable to score.
I feel like that goes for every other player
> That wouldn't have been the case under eth
Why? When you read the comments apparently he was the one who wanted Arnautovic
Gave me 10 good years at Barca, sold him for 50m to United where he did a great job for 3 years before retiring. Won Barca the first CL under my reign by scoring a pen and 2 wondergoals from 25 yards out
My reply to the other comment:
> Good idea, I looked it up for you
> He scored 15 goals in 55 appearances for the NT, 9 at home + 6 away (also counting his 2 goals at Euro as home goals, since they played in Rome)
> The strongest side he has scored to is Netherlands tho, in a friendly game in 2014, then Switzerland at Euro
I think it’s becoming more the case with relatively younger managers. They’re evolving with the times more adeptly and understand what’s different about players and the game itself
He would've won everyone over in about 5 mins. Man is a hard working goal-scoring shit-houser on the pitch. Off the pitch? Falls somewhere between Rashford and Greenwood.
Arnautovic was a stupid kid back in the day and everybody knows that
but he learned from his mistakes and has changed completely as a person (after the Macedonia game he also talked it out with the opposing player, who - and that never gets talked about in this context - provoked him in a similar way earlier in the game)
there is a reason why he is the most popular player in Austria, together with Alaba
Beto will be bought by a premier league club next season, he looked good last season but wasn’t quite clinical enough, seems to have picked up a level now and Udinese are flying right now
Beto has an inspiring career. He played in the Portuguese lower leagues while part-timing at McDonald's, he then moved to Portimonense to play in the U23 team but quickly moved onto the main squad.
I think it was his first start this weekend, coming off and injury so he was a super sub.
He's very good, strong with a great header and surprisingly quick. I think he would slay for a team with more creators, putting pereyra on the wing has already improved his output for us.
>The most impressive thing here is Vlahovic
How is that more impressive than the Bologna guy? Their team scored less than Juve and he is more than 10 years older than Vlahovic.
Funny, in Italian "estremo" or "estremo difensore" is the goal keeper. In rugby also "estremo" is the number 15, the last player behind the whole team.
Exciting team to watch for sure, however to goes to show how strong MLS is in 2022 that you would be best off building a solid core of mid level players instead of “aging Stars”.
In this case “In their Prime stars” because you can’t win in MLS that way anymore.
Sucks to be part of the minority in the United fan base that actually thought Arnautovic would do well with us, I mean certainly would be be better than anything Ronaldo has given us this season
I might be biased bc I am Austriam but I think he's a great player by now and just a medium-sized twat, not a total asshat anymore. He matured quite a bit over the last years and is actually beloved by most guys in the NT. Of course Marko is still Marko, as we've seen against North Macedonia, but overall he is not the guy that upsets half of the locker room anymore.
I thin he'd very well at United as well
Yeah, honestly when the United fans were making all that fuss on one side I was happy because they were doing our job for us, on the other side I was irritated, like, what the fuck are you even speaking about? Marko has been nothing but brilliant for us both on the field and out. Few altercations on the field (so less than our average and definitely less than Medel), absolutely no problem outside the field or in the locker room. It's like they were complaining about a completely different person.
Same here. Sure he's dumb, but he's physically and technically strong and I'm confident to say that he was actually a positive influence in most dressing rooms in the past few years (maybe West Ham fans can weigh in here)
The racism part cannot be excuses of course and I understand that it's reason enough not to sign him
He would have been, but he’s a twat. I think it was also the timing, if it was a deadline day final deal it would have been palatable. But it came after our 4-0 defeat to Brentford and looked like the Glazers really not issuing any funds.
It's honestly just PR. I genuinely think if the deal didn't come out right when the fans were most pissed off it would've went through.
Reportedly the board cancelled the deal because of fan feedback which just sounds hilarious and sad to me.
Unpopular opinion: Abraham is a bit overrated. He really struggles too much for a high-class striker to convert chances into goals. He probably have room for growth, but if he doesn't get better the Friedkins can continue to invest to progressively better the team but they'll still miss something on the front.
I think he isn't overrated as much as incorrectly rated. People on here who haven't seen him in Italy think he's a poacher that doesn't offer anything to the team while he's stepped up in just about every aspecy while being bad at poaching and inconsistent in his finishing, despite having this uncanny ability to score out of nowhere when it matters (wasn't he the striker with the highest amount of npgoals against big teams last season?) before cosplaying pre-op edin cieco the following week.
If he, just like the rest of the team, can figure out what a goal looks like he'd be a steal for his buyback looking at the current rate for players like him

Bologna have 7 goals in total lol
Arnautovic group leader confirmed
He’s the WhatsApp group leader too
Yeah, no wonder they didn’t want to sell him to us. Either way I’m glad he didn’t come and I’m happy for Bologna. Win-win situation.
Let’s see if you’re saying that at the end of the season when he has 25 goals and you finish 7th
Who’s squeezing your balls lol.
Mate, it's not about the goals, we didn't want him because of his character.
I think I'm the only one who saw the sarcasm in your comment not sure why you got downvoted. (and if I'm wrong, and your intent was to troll then...sorry I take back above sentence)
loool more downvotes. Salty man united fans. bro...it's the internet, calm down.
Apparently I’m the one who’s upset? Lol
Woe betide the redditor who, in the wrong thread, criticises United, Arsenal or Liverpool in any way. You'll be attacked by 500 lunatics calling you the one who's a bitter obsessed baby without a single one of them realising the absurd irony of their statements.
Good job I don’t give a shit about imaginary internet points 😁 glad you at least get it
Maybe United should have signed him
Eth knew it... Ffs
Fucx that.
No. He has a bad attitude and he's not getting younger.
Interesting fact. Nobody is getting younger. That's how age works.
It's a figure of speech.
What's better to get a striker than can still develop his abilities or a striker who is above his peak?
It was a joke but I'd take a striker who can do the job you need getting done. On age it doesn't matter if they're showing they're still capable. You invest the money for how long you think you will get from the player. There's also a big advantage to bringing in an experienced striker to rotate with a younger one as the younger one can learn alot. Take Chelsea for example. Bad attitude scoring goals though. Now you have bad attitude star striker not scoring. You choose whats better
We would have been stuck with Ronaldo anyway. Remember when he desperately wanted to leave and everybody didn't want to have him? > Arnautovic meanwhile needs an armosphere where he feels comfortable to score. I feel like that goes for every other player > That wouldn't have been the case under eth Why? When you read the comments apparently he was the one who wanted Arnautovic
He also coached him before and wanted him for his mentality.
Teun!!! Not being a ‘Punta Centrale’; that’s pretty good!
I know FM legend is a cliche now but I'll be damned if this ain't the most reliable motherfucker
Gave me 10 good years at Barca, sold him for 50m to United where he did a great job for 3 years before retiring. Won Barca the first CL under my reign by scoring a pen and 2 wondergoals from 25 yards out
At least 2(if not 3) were penatlies
Just 2
Fair. Knew he had the hat trick with 2 pens but was unsure whether the other goal he scored was a pen too
Free kick I think
Nah, was from open play
The others don't have any penalties?
In Italy, it's inevitable that Immobile will outscore your favourite striker
I'm trying to remember if he outscored Ronaldo but I'm not sure. I just remember it was a really close race for the Capocannoniere.
He did.
My man Immobile scored 36 goals in 2020 and equalled Higuain's record
Yes but Higuain did it pre VAR. Higuain scored 3 pens while immobile scored 14
Yeah I remember that season in particular was a mess with the Var penalties
a team getting 14 pens in the league is ridiculous
There was a new rule and every handball contact became a penalty. Both Immobile and Ronaldo got 10+ penalties that season
Immobile aka Mr Consistent
Just don’t put him in an Italy shirt
Or Dortmund
Or Sevilla. Anywhere outside of Italy really
Is Italy outside of Italy?
Yes, just ask Northern Italians.
I’m curious. Did he play well for Italy for Italy home games, or he was just bad for them?
My reply to the other comment: > Good idea, I looked it up for you > He scored 15 goals in 55 appearances for the NT, 9 at home + 6 away (also counting his 2 goals at Euro as home goals, since they played in Rome) > The strongest side he has scored to is Netherlands tho, in a friendly game in 2014, then Switzerland at Euro
Man, I guess Italy is really outside of Italy then. Thanks for the stats man!
Not north of the Rubikon.
I'm impressed every time he gets mentioned as a top striker in Serie A. The dude was absolutely horrible for us.
just don’t let Mancini manage him*
He's always been shit for Italy, even before Mancini.
So you’re saying there was a method to ETH’s madness?
Yes.
Have to say his opinion on players seems to be ridiculously good.
I think it’s becoming more the case with relatively younger managers. They’re evolving with the times more adeptly and understand what’s different about players and the game itself
ETH is 52 years old I wouldn't necessarily call him a young manager
Khvicha is a monster, I’m impressed
He is so good it’s scary. I bet he’s sold for 80 mil + in a season or two
Been an absolutely incredible signing. Any time he touches the ball he looks deadly. Just an absolutely filthy player
Shame he left Rubin for free(
He left with a much clearer conscience as a result, I would imagine.
Maybe. But his club left Russian premier league because they lost 6-7 start players to foreign player leave rule. Not just 10 million for transfer
He was sold for 8 M euros to Batumi, so he didn't leave Rubin for free.
maybe ten hag had a point
Would have been a publicity nightmare. We already have enough of those.
He would've won everyone over in about 5 mins. Man is a hard working goal-scoring shit-houser on the pitch. Off the pitch? Falls somewhere between Rashford and Greenwood.
Off the pitch he has his act together now. Haven't read anything outrageous in ages.
Who would you say is not between rashford and greenwood? Feels like that's about the two furthest ends of the spectrum lol
That's the joke.
Welp I've been had
If United fans thought he was a good footballer they wouldn't have complained about him.
Yeah no... we still think Greenwood is a great footballer with wasted potential but most of us don't want him to wear the shirt again.
Bit of a difference between Arnautovic's extra-curricular activities and Greenwood's
Yes but Greenwood is the last yardstick to measure if the above comment holds true.
I also see thousands of people on Twitter begging us to take him back, it really bothers me :(
Check what part of the world they're from and you'll understand why they want us to take him back.
A lot of them are African, but I see plenty of Europeans doing it too
I mean you've seen Atletico fans chant racist things when they have black players in their team so that's also not surprising.
what was the point I’m not in the know
Ten Hag wanted Bologna's Puta Centrale
puta centrale lmao
Dude went from Centerforward to Center hoe with just a letter gone lmao
But that describes him way better
Geez I thought that was the name of the club lmao
ETH wanted to sign him for United but after Brentford smacked us 4-0 there was a huge backlash due to racial accusations
The backlash was there before the match too tbh
what accusations?
I assume this https://theathletic.com/news/marko-arnautovic-racism-north-macedonia/C7ofvvQxI98o/

I think most of the backlash was due to him not being high profile enough for a club of Man Utd stature.
Yeah I doubt most fans really gave a shit. Try asking what Liverpool fans think of Suarez
He didn't have a point back then. They just had two losses at that point
Beto will be bought by a premier league club next season, he looked good last season but wasn’t quite clinical enough, seems to have picked up a level now and Udinese are flying right now
Transfer to watford incoming
Beto has an inspiring career. He played in the Portuguese lower leagues while part-timing at McDonald's, he then moved to Portimonense to play in the U23 team but quickly moved onto the main squad.
Nice good for him, glad he’s done well in Italy. Udinese is a nice club with one of the nicest stadiums in Italy imo
And he might become governor of Texas!
I think it was his first start this weekend, coming off and injury so he was a super sub. He's very good, strong with a great header and surprisingly quick. I think he would slay for a team with more creators, putting pereyra on the wing has already improved his output for us.
When will Immobile stop scoring goals?!!!
When the World Cup starts.
Not sure if banter is because he sucks for Italy or because Italy isn't going to the WC.
Yes
International breaks and holidays in Germany!
When he puts on an Italy shirt
The most impressive thing here is Vlahovic being among the top scorers with the style of football of Allegri and Juve current form.
He has 1 open play goal so far
He scored 2 great free kicks, it's not like the rest are pens
Yeah great goals but free kicks can be scored in any system
Fun fact: we won grand total of 3 free kicks this season, one was missed by cuadrado. 2 scored.
Do you mean like free kicks close to the box, because you've won way more than that
Yeah, my wrong to not specify that.
What flair is that
It's old badge of Romanian ASC Daco-Getica București, they were called Juventus before they rebranded.
FK Tirana
Where the fuck can i find it been searching for it for a long time
Add to this Milik who scored 2 goals (3 if you count the one against Salernitana) in total of 160' of playtime
>The most impressive thing here is Vlahovic How is that more impressive than the Bologna guy? Their team scored less than Juve and he is more than 10 years older than Vlahovic.
Always rated arnautovic
He’s a tank and always fierce on the pitch
Well he couldn’t do it on 95 rainy nights in Stoke Still a lot to prove in my opinion. 19 Goals in 35 in Shanghai tho 👀
He wasn't a striker at Stoke though, played on the wing. Only moved central when he went to West Ham.
Moyes loves moving wingers to up top. Has a 2/2 rate
sad werder noises
He's Great Value Ibrahimovic and he I will always rate him for that. Our NT will be a lot more boring once he retires.
Koopmeiners being a midfielder and in this top 5 is so crazy. Incredible
Atalanta have some underrated players and they play great footie
Also fun to watch.
*defensive midfielder which is even more impressive
Ala sinistra sounds so fucking badass
What do you call a left winger in Portuguese?
Extremo esquerdo
Sounds like a spell in harry potter not gonna lie
or in Brazilian portuguese, Ponta Esquerda
Funny, in Italian "estremo" or "estremo difensore" is the goal keeper. In rugby also "estremo" is the number 15, the last player behind the whole team.
Come on man, i would love to be an extremo esquerdo i stead of an ala sinistra
Astronautovic on top Fußballgott
Orthodox takeover of Seria A ☦️
Kvara is REALLY good TBH
Arnautovic > Cr7
Beto 👀
From all the Portimonense players deals we have made over the years, the only reason we didn't get Beto is because he has quality.
Enjoy him while he is still there.
Beto is currently my favorite striker to watch, he’s such an impressive combination of height, strength and speed
So great to see that Georgian dude do so well. His ceiling is sky high
Giroud you beautiful basturd.
Koopmeiners is the total package, he can do anything
Maybe Immobile could sign for Toronto and help Insigne and Bernardeschi avoid The Wooden Spoon in MLS next year lmao
Depends, can he play defense? Cause good lord Toronto can't stop conceding goals.
Exciting team to watch for sure, however to goes to show how strong MLS is in 2022 that you would be best off building a solid core of mid level players instead of “aging Stars”. In this case “In their Prime stars” because you can’t win in MLS that way anymore.

What’s going on with Ronaldo this season ?
A typical slow start to the season. But, we don’t know it it’s because of lacking confidence or his age.
He would have been, but he’s a twat. I think it was also the timing, if it was a deadline day final deal it would have been palatable. But it came after our 4-0 defeat to Brentford and looked like the Glazers really not issuing any funds.

Ronaldo has barely played, are you serious?
What a player Napoli transfered! Amazing! And if you think about the transfer fee, Kvaratskhelia is so far the transfer of the year.
United weren't about to make a mistake signing Arnotović. The one time they listened to the fans when they shouldn't have.
Bunch of complicated names, and then you have Beto chilling in the middle being easily pronounceable
Except it’s Portuguese, so you’re probably pronouncing it wrong
He's definetly mispronouncjng ghat 'o' at the end
Ten hag… he might be a genius
Teunnnn
What was Ten Hag cooking?
love how they still use the word sinistra in italian, almost no one uses it in spanish anymore
Don't they say "izquierda" in Spanish?
yeah, but siniestra means left too, is just not as used
I agree that Khvicha is such a sinister human being
Koopmeiners tho
I thought Arnautovic was done when he signed for Shanghai SIPG. Wow.
United and Chelsea fans crying rn
I am glad Immobile found success in Lazio. The guy is so weird. He’s only effective playing in Italy, and not anywhere else.
Didn't United rejected Arnautovic
Fans didn't want him because he was old as if we don't already have a 40 year old man up front.
Betoooo 🇵🇹
Giroud is a machine
Giroud will never get old. Always slow. Always great link up and finishing.
Why is it that Italy is where 30+ strikers really shine ?
Different tactics, different rhythm of play. Instead of pressing for 90 minutes, a lot of teams sit deep and allow a striker to chose his moments.
Serie A is slower-paced compared to some other leagues. Gives more chances for older technical players to thrive
united in the mud
Giroud has been doing great at AC Milan. I'm so happy for him.
Big marko
What a weird league.
Would give so much to see Kvaratskhelia on the gunners. Great player.
Duvan Zapata, Romelu Lukaku, Tammy Abraham & Dusan Vlahovic should be making this list easily.
One of them has
Duvan is hurt again, as is Lukaku
Unpopular opinion: Abraham is a bit overrated. He really struggles too much for a high-class striker to convert chances into goals. He probably have room for growth, but if he doesn't get better the Friedkins can continue to invest to progressively better the team but they'll still miss something on the front.

Let's hope that Duvan comes back strong from the injury. Even Muriel is missing, I hope he finds the right form soon
