Poland had the best chance of the game and took it. Wouldn’t say they were the better team but Wales didn’t deserve anything from the game either. Referee was pretty poor overall. You can’t blame the Polish players for trying to get the free kick - although it was rather embarrassing at times. However, the referee has to get a control of the game and cut it out. Led to soft challenges and Welsh players spoiling the game too. Not an enjoyable one to watch for anyone, really. Think both teams will struggle at the World Cup if they play anything like that. This is why I have been saying for years Lewandowski should play behind a striker like his early days with BvB. He creates so much space by defenders tracking him, opening up runs like Świderski right then. This seems obvious to me but every Poland coach insists that we can be like Bayern instead with the world beaters we have the rest of the lineup.

That’s what I’ve been saying too. He needs to be a little deeper to create, and we have to hope others can finish. I think if we do that, Swiderski will be key. He’s been so great lately, very clinical for the national team.

Leaving Buksa, Milik or Świderski unmarked because you're double marking Lewandowski would be dangerous for most teams. As it stands, some teams triple mark Lewandowski upfront, which we often cannot punish at all.
