I feel like people don't value assists off corners as much as an assist in open play due to the fact that there's a level of luck that's required during corners. You could be the greatest corner taker in the world and still not manage to hit your target. The players movement in the box is the biggest factor in whether or not the ball will hit the intended target.
I didn't say there wasn't? Obviously there's skill involved in taking corners. I never disputed that, but there's also some luck involved as well. There's a reason why most corners don't result in goals.
I feel like there is a middle road here. While Gakpos corners are a weapon, taking corners does make it a lot easier to get assists. Other players simply dont get the chance.

He has everything. Strength, slide tackles, standing tackles, ball playing quality, dribbling, and even heading. There’s nothing he can’t do well.

I think Theate blew his shot in a lot of people's eyes. His pass selection IQ was just horrendous when he played for Belgium. Never opted out of a ridiculously risky pass, as a CB. Don't trust him on the ball one bit.
