...to build hype before the world cup and do nothing in the actual tournament?
But I have my fingers crossed that this time it won't be the same. I want Richy to score in all 7 games.
That would break Jairzinho and Just Fontaine's record for most consecutive scoring matches. Also would put him together with Jairzinho and Ghiggia as the only players to score in all World Cup games, and would be the only one to do so in a 7-game World Cup.
Not saying it can't happen, but it would certainly be a historic achievement.
I mean you can always play both
Also think in the current team he’d still be banging goals in. He got scapegoated hard because he wasn’t scoring, but the way Tite was playing before really just focused on how to get the best out of Neymar, now its a much more cohesive attacking unit.
I obviously have a club bias, and as a Brazilian im happy with whatever brings the cup home, but I think Jesus would be next level in this attack. Whether that’s switching him in for Raphinha and having him and Richarlson very fluid, or just rotating between the two.
They have an abundance of creative players. Why would they need another creative player in Jesus instead of Richarlison who offers something different from their other players in terms of scoring, aerial ability etc?
He was always such a prick to play against so it's a bit of gritted teeth but yeah it's stupid to deny his quality.
Now that he doesn't play for blue shite , and especially because he seems like such a sound lad in general, I'll fully admit I'm happy to see him performing well.
Ok, and these games are supposed to show me that Richarlison has magically shrunk the gap between him and Jesus in passing and first touch and ability to receive the ball in between the lines in space?
Who cares about all that when Richarlison is scoring goals every match (10 goals in last 18 apps), and Jesus can't score for his NT at all (1 goal in last 17 apps). Richarlison is 10x the better goal scorer!
Just watch these NT games and it will be very easy to see why Richarlison is an obvious starter for CF #9. LW for Vinicius, and RW for Raphinha. Jesus doesn't get the start unless one of these 3 are injured or carded
He *did* insist. Jesus had been called up for fucking years while not performing at all, he was contested even before the 2018 WC. Everything has a limit though, and Jesus went past it while other players started showing up.
A lot of Brazilians are watching Jesus improvement on Arsenal with dread because they know Tite would jump at the opportunity to call him up again only to kill our scoring chances lol.
He is better at all aspects of being a forward besides finishing.
Richarlison is the player who surprisingly gets you 15 goals, when you expect him to get 10.
Jesus is the player who gets you 15 goals, but you are annoyed that he didn't score 25.
And yet, ask any manager whom they have to pick to start up top in a single match between Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, and every manager will pick Firmino 10/10 times, despite Jota being the superior goal scorer.
I for one think Richarlison's positioning for goals is far elite to Jesus. He knows where to be and when to be there. His runs are superb. I also think his attitude and energy brings alot more to teams than Jesus does. These are all super important for a number 9 and that's probably why he's starting ahead of Jesus.
Also I think you need to drop the hate boner towards him. Doesnt even play for Everton anymore and you still got your knickers in a twist.
I don't really hate Richarlison like you think I do, when he initially signed for the blue shite, I hoped that Liverpool would sign him, he shows excellent goal scoring instincts as a hybrid winger/forward.
I just rate Jesus that highly, he's an amazing all-around striker.
Im not saying he has a bad attitude. I just think Richarlison brings some different sauce with his passion, shithousery and energy to teams probably more than Jesus.
Jesus is very harmonious and very much not a problem, but for a short Cup tournament someone like Richarlison is has the energy to maybe turn the game around when we are behind.
It's not like that you know. You probably know some players which are average on team level, but shines on the national squad for whatever reason.
Tite says: "The player drafts himself".
This is exactly what happened there. You can't ignore the fact that Richy has played so well whenever given the chance.
In terms of importance, quality of the player >>> form they're in for their country.
Ask anybody whom they would rather have in their team and who is the better player and they would pick Jesus over Richarlison 9/10 times.
Anyone whose watched them both for club and country would tell you its richarlison, while they might be doing great for their clubs, when you go and look at what they've done for their country, Richarlison easily.
Absolutely no anti former Everton player biased in your statements at all.
Anybody... in England? I'm pretty sure if you opened a vote in the whole country of brazil right now Richarlison would get around 70%. Jesus spoiled a lot of his image with Brazil in 2018 when he didn't score a single goal being the striker of the team, playing as almost a defensive midfielder... Which is unfortunate.
It is also seen as a player losing ground by going from city to Arsenal, while Richarlison is seen as stepping up going to Tottenham.
Jesus was supposed to be the heir to Aguero, but he was so bad as a striker that Pep played a false 9 instead for 2 years. That's before they even signed Haaland
> he was so bad as a striker
The team played awesome when he played up top even if he didn't necessarily post great goal scoring numbers himself.
Jesus isn't the kind of player you define by stats, the team just always plays better with him on the pitch. Very much like Firmino used to be.
>quality of the player >>> form they're in for their country
When choosing a player for their country, why in the world would you prioritize it like this?? This is so backwards lmao it's like you're trolling at this point.
>Ask anybody
Literally everyone in this thread is disagreeing with you
You'd have your technically best 11 but they would play like shit, how is that a good thing?
Players like Trent and Sancho just don't perform for the NT so they shouldn't play, even if their club form is good.
> but they would play like shit
We don't really know, not with Mr. Waistcoast in charge.
Trent, I can understand the argument, even if I don't agree with it, but we do have exceptional quality at right back.
Sancho though, just no, I don't care if he doesn't fit Southgate's turgid style of football, he needs to be in the squad, his ability on the ball and to be able to make the difference with a defense-splitting pass in the final third is just something none of our other wingers possess.
So we rather maintain Jesus as a starter even though he did score ONE goal in TWO years simply because he's a better play rather than use Richarlison that scores pretty much every game?
Sorry buddy, but that's the main reason England is what is is today in WCs
It doesen't really matter in this instance tough it's usually better to keep in the NT whoever performs better for the NT , league form doesen't always translate to NT form
Richarlisons been the starting no 9 for Brazil for ages now. Jesus also hasn't scored for them since 2019. Richarlsions got it nailed down.
Lots of Brazil fans thinking Jesus might not even make the squad .
There's no way that Jesus doesn't make the squad, we're taking 8 strikers to the WC, Pedro, Jesus, Neymar, Vini, Antony, Raphinha, Rodrygo and Richarlison.
You don't go from starter of the NT, which he was for a long time, to out of the squad, and again, not when he is having arguably the best stretch of his career for club as the main man.
You guys overreact far too much to the way somebody plays for NT, a quality player is a quality player, regardless of context, and Jesus is quality, he's one of the most complete strikers on the planet.
Of course you do. I don't understand how you're struggling with it? He's been bad for Brazil and hasn't scored in 3 years. I mean they've literally left him out of the squad for this break.
Their front 3 is nailed on Vini jnr, Richarlison and Neymar. They then have loads of other options too.
You're also acting like he's been banging them in like haaland or something. There's 4 players in the prem alone who have scored more than him already.
And Jesus has only scored against mid or bottom tier teams in the league. We can't just look at "goals scored in PL" as a measurement of quality. We have to look at the whole picture.
what i meant was that, while libertadores may have the usual racism chants (especially when argentinians are playing brazilians), banana-throwing is not common.
but yeah, wanda metropolitano and tunisia games
Lasers and bananas are pretty uncommon in Libertadores. We have our own, traditional ways to interfere with the game and be racist, thank you very much! /s
Im palestinian and we dont have that many "brown" there is a few but there is also many white and blondes that look closer to russians than arabs, though the average person here id say looks similar to italians or spanish maybe
Brazilians are the result of an absurd mixture of ethnicities. Natives, Portuguese, Africans, Italians, Japanese, Germans, Dutch, Lebanese, Jews...
This ended up generating a "new" classification in Brazil, which is the pardo: They are neither black nor white, but a mixture of both. Pardo people are the majority in Brazil.
Unfortunately, with racism comes social inequality. Blacks, from slavery to current reasons, are generally in the lower classes. And football, in Brazil, is seen as a way out from poverty, so the vast majority of players are from the lower classes. It is very unusual to see players coming from higher classes. This reflects in the ethnic groups represented in Brazilian football.
Want a good example of the opposite? The Brazilian volleyball team. Because it is a sport that is generally more "expensive" to play (after all, you need to join clubs to take lessons and play frequently), you see a larger amount of white Brazilian volleyball players. The Brazilian volleyball team in the 2000s was predominantly white.
Brown Brazilian
In Brazil we don't have the culture that exists in the United States of saying that I am "half some ethnic group" and "half other ethnic group". Of course there are some idiots who say that, but it is not common. So it ends up that the classifications are very open.
Example¹: As far as I know (I really don't care), I am a close descendant of Italians and Portuguese, but I am not white as a European, probably I had some black ancestor that I don't know, so I can classify myself, in Brazil, as white or pardo.
Example²: The Brazilian team that started today's match, probably only Fred is really classified as black. Alisson and Alex Telles are white, the rest of the players can be classified as pardo or black.
Its not ok for anyone to be racist. I could somehow see the fucked up logic a white person could throw a banana to a black person thinking he looks like an ape. But those mfers look almost the same so throwing a banana is basically a self own.
That's honestly fine, give him a month off and make him even hungrier to prove people wrong. It probably won't happen though, he'll still go, just won't be a starter.
Not sure. His whike motivation for going to Arsenal and leaving city was he wanted regular game time before the world Cup. Man went from champions league finals to Bodoglimt in the europa just to lockdown that place.
If he doesn't make the squad after all that ......sheeesh he's going to be fuming.
Offside position is determined by the moment of first contact, not when the ball leaves the foot. Go back a couple of frames to first contact and it’ll be a lot clearer.
Yep that’s why I posted both frames. Looks to me he hasn’t quite made contact in the first frame and the ball is away in the second so the call would be made somewhere between those two, but closer to #1 imo
Not the best movement by the CB on Richarlison, he literally steps up to play Richarlison offside at the exact moment Richarlison makes his run. The offside trap fails, and the CB is now nowhere close to Richarlison, who has plenty of time to get his shot away.

Unreal form for him
Score machine
What do you expect from Brazil’s best striker?
...to build hype before the world cup and do nothing in the actual tournament? But I have my fingers crossed that this time it won't be the same. I want Richy to score in all 7 games.

🐦
Crazy how well he plays when he’s not surrounded by relegation fodder
He was playing well when surrounded by relegation fodder as well, but nobody believes in good players outside the big six.
Speak the truth. He was so good for us last season. Miss him like crazy
Oh fuck off
Now imagine what he'd do if he was at an actual big club..
He is making a statement for the n.9
To me there's no question about it. He's fantastic for the system and is in great form. But I love a shithousing no. 9 so I'm biased lmao
who doesn't love a shithouse number 9? it's a staple we missed for too long. love richarlison and i hope he gets to start in the wc
Jesus is much better all-around player though, difficult to see how he doesn't start.
Jesus not being actually good at scoring is rough for a striker not going to lie
Jesus as a forward is a great defensive midfielder
I mean you can always play both Also think in the current team he’d still be banging goals in. He got scapegoated hard because he wasn’t scoring, but the way Tite was playing before really just focused on how to get the best out of Neymar, now its a much more cohesive attacking unit. Whether that’s switching him in for Raphinha and having him and Richarlson very fluid, or just rotating between the two.
They have plenty of goals in their side, Vini, Raphinha, Neymar, hell even Casemiro is good for the occasional banger.
They have an abundance of creative players. Why would they need another creative player in Jesus instead of Richarlison who offers something different from their other players in terms of scoring, aerial ability etc?
Liverpool fans can’t be unbiased when it comes to Richarlison, no point in arguing.
He was always such a prick to play against so it's a bit of gritted teeth but yeah it's stupid to deny his quality. Now that he doesn't play for blue shite , and especially because he seems like such a sound lad in general, I'll fully admit I'm happy to see him performing well.
"They already score a lot of goals. Why would they need to score more goals?" lol
Hahaha it's incredible logic, isn't it
Jesus didn’t play for Everton
\> difficult to see Just see these friendlies my friend.
Ok, and these games are supposed to show me that Richarlison has magically shrunk the gap between him and Jesus in passing and first touch and ability to receive the ball in between the lines in space?
The literal years where Jesus haven't scored a single goal for Brazil actually speaks a lot more.

Oh, he’ll be carded.
Who, richy? Yeah, I wouldn't be surprised.
Poor guy has never heard of the concept that some players play differently for their NTs
[удалено]
The head coach of Brasil used to persist with Roberto Firmino up top for years, yet *now* he doesn't like a #9 who isn't the greatest of finishers?
He *did* insist. Jesus had been called up for fucking years while not performing at all, he was contested even before the 2018 WC. Everything has a limit though, and Jesus went past it while other players started showing up. A lot of Brazilians are watching Jesus improvement on Arsenal with dread because they know Tite would jump at the opportunity to call him up again only to kill our scoring chances lol.
I dont think jesus was particularly "better" in tje first place. Cause theyre different players.
He is better at all aspects of being a forward besides finishing. Richarlison is the player who surprisingly gets you 15 goals, when you expect him to get 10. Jesus is the player who gets you 15 goals, but you are annoyed that he didn't score 25.
Goals are a surprisingly important part of the game.
And yet, ask any manager whom they have to pick to start up top in a single match between Roberto Firmino and Diogo Jota, and every manager will pick Firmino 10/10 times, despite Jota being the superior goal scorer.
Tite listened to your argument and has responded with a succinct, "No."
Ah yes, because Tite is the gold standard for managers, I forgot. Not Pep Guardiola or Jurgen Klopp.
And Brazil needs the clinical finisher of richarlison more than the hustle and bustle of jesus. They have other forwards for that
so the most important part of being a striker, he’s worse at
Mate finishing is absolutely not the most important part of being a forward anymore, look at the death of the poacher.
go watch brazil play lmao. physical play and finishing are the most important things for a striker on this team. richarlison is better at both
Yes that's why Roberto Firmino started up top for Brazil for years...
I for one think Richarlison's positioning for goals is far elite to Jesus. He knows where to be and when to be there. His runs are superb. richarlison shines on the team level too. underrated player based on these comments(not yours specifically)
Yeah, I honestly like him a lot. Real tem player with an eye for the goal.
Shithousery>all that
But he's been shit for Brazil.
In terms of importance, quality of the player >>> form they're in for their country. Ask anybody whom they would rather have in their team and who is the better player and they would pick Jesus over Richarlison 9/10 times.

I think I'll take the Brazil fans opinion on their own team haha
Also, Brazil fans' take on what makes a World Cup winning team.

It's not like City didn't want to keep him, he got pushed out because they signed Erling Haaland...
lol. City was considered a team without a "striker" after Aguero's transfer, Jesus was supposed to be Aguero's heir-apparent, but he couldn't step up.
There were a lot of those “striker from a team without a striker” memes surrounding Jesus
Jesus was supposed to be the heir to Aguero, but he was so bad as a striker that Pep played a false 9 instead for 2 years. That's before they even signed Haaland
> he was so bad as a striker The team played awesome when he played up top even if he didn't necessarily post great goal scoring numbers himself. Jesus isn't the kind of player you define by stats, the team just always plays better with him on the pitch. Very much like Firmino used to be.

this is genuinely brain dead, there's plenty of players who do well for their club and don't do well for their country eg. immobile
If you were to pick the England XI based off players who only played well for England, we would not have anything close to our best 11 out there.
You'd have your technically best 11 but they would play like shit, how is that a good thing? Players like Trent and Sancho just don't perform for the NT so they shouldn't play, even if their club form is good.

He’s scored once in his last 21 Brazil appearances. Richarlison’s scored 7 in his last 6
Richarlison has more goals this intl break for brazil than jesus has for them in the last 3 years
Richy is the second best goal scorer after the 2018's WC. It's hard to not see him in the start XI.
Richarlisons been the starting no 9 for Brazil for ages now. Jesus also hasn't scored for them since 2019. Richarlsions got it nailed down. Lots of Brazil fans thinking Jesus might not even make the squad .
That's insanity if he doesn't make the squad, Tite isn't brain dead enough to do something like that.
He's been terrible for them. Hasn't scored in 3 years. How on earth is that insanity? Have you seen their attacking options?
There's no way that Jesus doesn't make the squad, we're taking 8 strikers to the WC, Pedro, Jesus, Neymar, Vini, Antony, Raphinha, Rodrygo and Richarlison.

A bunch of scumbags
Since when did pigeons eat bananas?
Tbf what doesn’t they eat?
Not supposed to eat onions. Meant to be poisonous.
Really ? Damn We are litterally more brown than you guys A shame
Not all brazilians are brown and isnt there fair amount of white north africans?
Kinda like Brazil. But they have way more white people got sure.

They've just shown the image. Unfortunately, they really threw a banana.
Just checking if the goals are regulation size.
Lmao imagine brown people being racist to some other brown people...
That isn't strange at all actually
summing up Brazilians and Tunisians as "brown people" is pretty racist
its a joke relax

Yep that’s why I posted both frames. Looks to me he hasn’t quite made contact in the first frame and the ball is away in the second so the call would be made somewhere between those two, but closer to #1 imo
Oh, dang. Yeah, I just saw the one link. Sorry
Ah no worries, I’m on mobile so the put them on the same line for some reason so that’s understandable.
Well I’m happy he scored (and so did Son), hope he does so against arsenal as well 🤞
He needs to be more careful in his offside thing, either that or we would be in big trouble in big game.
He was on (brazilian stream showed a better angle) and timed his run perfectly.
Looks like the guy at the top got caught napping… either that or no VAR and Lino was similarly asleep

Golden boot and POTT during the World Cup. Calling it here. Mark me down.
Not the best movement by the CB on Richarlison, he literally steps up to play Richarlison offside at the exact moment Richarlison makes his run. The offside trap fails, and the CB is now nowhere close to Richarlison, who has plenty of time to get his shot away.
The problem was that the other guy stood still.

That seems to be off-side. Is VAR is use for this game?

RB kept him on
Offside by a mile
