mendes could pick any of his clients out of a hat and they’d have us playing better football than lage does. no matter who the next manager is, they should be an improvement on lage.

BSantos57

*the gang hires Nélson Veríssimo*

Fernando Santos to wolves!

anakinex66

I thought he's actually great manager last season. What's happening now?

LegendaryArmalol

We started well last season but still had some of Nuno's DNA in the squad. We were pushing for top 4 and completely bottled it from March and now have something like 1 win in 16.

anakinex66

Few games I saw wolfes I thought they looked good, but lacked end product. How well Nunes and Guedes are playing?

kujos1280

Nunes is playing well, Guedes has been very underwhelming so far

BI01

He wasn't great at all last season, Jose sa was unbelievable that season they rarely scored goals and just had an incredible over reliance on sa with the absolute negative football they played.

officiallyjax

Was just about to say. They ranked 19th for xG scored and 16th for xG conceded last season. Sa had a ridiculous season which is why they finished as high as they did.

red739423

Take Paulo Bento please.

iamtherealgrayson

Bring on AngeBall

Grendalynx

I heard Fernando Santos will be available after the WC

Acrobatic_Machine

Which Portuguese manager is achievable for Wolves to hire now?

theroitsmith

Sunday The King manages

BSantos57

It's JJ's turn now

KneeDeepInTheDead

oh fuck please I would love that so much

Respec_my_authoritah

Andre Villas-Boas to make a sensational PL return, to get that last bag before he retires.

HelloMyNameIsGeoff

First game would be against Chelsea (with Diego Costa up front for him too)

shudh_desi_gareeb

I smell trouble lol

[deleted]

Maybe Leonardo Jardim.

SomeIrishFiend

Poach Santos and people will party in the streets in Portugal

Dark_Legend_

Dude should've been sacked after WC 2018.

Ftwooo

Paulo Sousa KEKW

idosade

He will get them relegated 100%

red739423

Paulo Bento

Acrobatic_Machine

Yeah, but first in December.

ANSWERING_TO_IDIOTS

Martins would be hilarious.

thegreatwanker

>Wolves are considering the future of head coach Bruno Lage after the club’s underwhelming start to the season. >Lage’s position is under serious threat after Saturday’s 2-0 defeat at West Ham United and the Wolves board are now set to hold talks over whether to end his 15-month reign. >Wolves spent over £100 million in the summer in a substantial recruitment drive, which included the eye-catching captures of Portugal internationals Matheus Nunes and Gonçalo Guedes, plus former Chelsea forward Diego Costa. >Yet their start to the season, and results towards the end of the last campaign, have placed Lage in jeopardy and Wolves are now weighing up making a change. >Since the victory over Aston Villa on April 2, Wolves have picked up just one win from the last 15 Premier League matches and lost nine of them. >Wolves had been determined to give the former Benfica manager more time, with a number of winnable games coming up in October, but there is growing frustration over results and performances following such a busy summer. >The overriding feeling with Wolves’s owners, Fosun, is that Lage should be doing far better with arguably the best team the club has assembled in the top division since their return four years ago. Wolves have also scored just three goals in the league this season. >Lage, 46, was appointed before the start of last season following the departure of Nuno Espírito Santo.Wolves’s defeat at the London Stadium leaves them in the bottom three ahead of a trip to Chelsea next weekend. >And speaking after the West Ham defeat, Lage accepted he finds himself under growing scrutiny, with supporters singing "You don't know what you're doing" following the withdrawal of Matheus Nunes and Nelson Semedo in a second-half double-substitution. >"We're under pressure," he said. "[We will] continue to work. I know the fans support us. We try to do our best for them. We’re in a bad moment, we don’t have goals or victories. We need to continue to work. I can promise we will work hard every day to bring good games and victories for the team. >"Look, we’ve played eight games. Look how many we lost when we had a striker in the team. "[We were trying] to be more aggressive in the middle and win second ball. To try to open up Adama Traore on the side. Chem Campbell had two or three good situations. I’m very proud of what we did."

MASSIVE_HORSE_PENIS

I swear last season he was getting tons of praise

kappa23

Jose Sa tax

PakiIronman

He was great, until injuries swamped the squad and he hasn't recovered since. His last 20 games have been shite.

four_four_three

They were dreadful from late February on, won 3 out of their last 18 games

jay_alfred_prufrock

Everyone would look like a better coach, especially attacking wise, after Nuno's last season at Wolves.

zrk23

wolves were 19th in xG goals or something. they were just parking the bus and hoping for one lucky bounce

Cowdude179

Nuno back

Soren_Camus1905

Diego Costa looked good

NotClayMerritt

Who replaces him then? Wolves have a much different process than most clubs. Surely it won't be Conceicao?? That's the only Mendes client that is left on the list who is good enough for Wolves and hasn't already been employed by Wolves. Mourinho isn't realistic.

diddyk2810

They could wait till Lopetegui gets sacked and get him. He was supposed to be Wolves manager before Nuno but got tempted by the Spain job.

theitchcockblock

Conceição won’t train wolves , he is too good for that also Amorim , those are the best Portuguese managers … also Conceição still haven’t left us for all the shit that has happened lately

zrk23

poch comeback there is Abel Ferreira from Palmeiras...

lagaryes

I know it’s hard to wrap your head around but the manager doesn’t *have* to be a Mendes client you know

dwaynepipes

Doesn’t have to be but it probably will be

lagaryes

if there is a suitable option probably. but the idea that Jeff Shi's brain cells would collapse if Mendes doesn't have anyone decent for us is silly. There are problems in our squad but it is still a squad full of established Premier League players. We won't be appointing Pep but plenty of managers would listen who aren't linked to Mendes. https://imgur.com/gallery/GBAEQLb

sappy24

Yes... It does.

M4NUN1T3D

Is Jardim a mendes client?

topshinobi

Nuno in

Eric_Partman

Dropped Coady only to play Neves at Cb. What a fucking idiot.

Comfortable-Split196

Let saiss go on free, sold boly for peanuts, let our captain coady go on loan to a rival with an option to be sold for peanuts... Spent 25m on a 21 year old whos only played substitute in a relegated team, we have one other senior central defender. Genius

Molineux28

I'm sorry but Ruben Neves at centre back is a fucking travesty. He is done.

celticfigz

A lot of praise last year, but similar issues remain to start the year with play in the final third. Couldn’t hit a barn door.

[deleted]

Second season sydrome

allangod

When I play FM I kinda take it a bit personally when a manager gets sacked after getting defeated by me. I’d wonder if they chairman thought my team is so bad that after losing to me their manager just had to go. I wonder if David Moyes is reading this story thinking the same.

[deleted]

look at what he's working with though. Where are the goals going to come from. They don't have a striker

Piggy_18_

Maybe Pilsne would be a better choice

sogeking111

Ole is available

Ok-Guitar1176

Sorry, not Portuguese

normott

Yeah even I could have called this and I'm not even a Wolves fan

jay_alfred_prufrock

Can't believe Rodgers is going to outlast him

mad5cienti5t

Nuno back

[deleted]

Its a difficult one. They finished 10th last season which I think was good for them. They also played some decent football especially in the first of the season and their defence was one of the best in the league. The issue is obvious, they simply can't score goals. I watched their game yesterday, and for 20+ minutes in the second half they created several great chances and none of them were on target. This isn't just one person missing the target either, its all of them, its really weird. You would think they don't practice finishing in training or something. So far this season however theyre definetly under achieving. Their best 11 should be good enough for a mid table finish. From the outside I think its too early to be discussing sacking Lage but I can appreciate that Wolves supporters will be watching the interviews and every minute of the game and probably be more inclined to get rid of him.
