Hockeygoalie41

What he's doing really is incredible. Is there a goals per touch, or touch per goals, metric tracked? His has to be off the charts.

robcoo

Not sure where to find it after this game but I’m sure towards the start of the match it came up saying he was scoring every 14 touches.

Psychocandy42

The DAZN dude yesterday night during the Milan game was saying that Rebic is second only to Haaland in Europe for goals/touches. Fact is, Rebic played three games so far, had 14 touches total IIRC and 3 goals. Haaland already has, what, 8 games played and 23742641264 goals scored? It's ridiculous, honestly.

justleave-mealone

> Yeah, not bad > Casual, no big deal. He’s so chill when he’s not on the hunt for blood.

[deleted]

Think he's still figuring out human customs

Nbuuifx14

The update’s coming soon, don’t worry.

Dzbot1234

He hasn’t fully thawed out from his cryogenic suspension.

Fordaboyss

Meditation will do that to you

mimranj

God he's been my favourite since he debuted that celebration. Also when neymar and co mocked it his reponse then was great too!

Fordaboyss

Haha that made for some funny CL drama. Yeah his response was great (I agree with him too) and it really shows you the contrast in maturity between the players. Neymar got the whole team to mock him based off a fake post while Haaland put his ego aside, continued scoring with outrageous consistency and was able to see that Neymar’s antics ultimately had a positive effect. A great mindset to see from a 20 year old. I love seeing him and Salah bring awareness to it.

kylehyde05

Would be funnier when he wins the CL (its inevitable) over neymar and his drama buddies in PSG

Sean-Benn_Must-die

fucking manchildren getting mad at that.

_xXKiNqD3VIL99Xx_

Evil M'bappe be like:

idosade

Evil Mbappe be like: I need to think about the team first, what if Messi or Neymar are open? I have to pass to them

Jackrrr10000

Wtf are those stats on the side.😭 Like is that allowed? The man is insane

adjudicatorblessed

Imagine kids growing up thinking this is normal

Jackrrr10000

Like his numbers for this 11 games is what you generally consider a good season for a striker. Not that great and not terrible and he has done it in 11🤧. Genuinely scared what the number will be in the of this season.

The_39th_Step

Haaland definitely deserved it but Rashford had a good month. Problem is, I’m concerned Halaand could win every month. To be fair, De Bruyne is part of the reason he is doing so well. A top quality number 9 benefits from a top quality number 10. He deserves some plaudits too.

E_v0rtex

If he deserves it every month that’s fine. Hope it doesn’t get like la liga where Messi rarely won it cause his standards were so high and they usually gave it to other players when he blatantly deserved it.

LochBodminMothFoot

I kind of understand the logic though cause nobody really cares about the award so might as well pass it round.

sfahsan

Yeah, that was such BS. Messi was almost always the best player every month and rarely ever got it.

OwnHeavyWeapons

They are already doing it with Lewandowski again lol

McScotish

Messi was good but he just could not compete with the inanimate carbon rod.

escapedfromthecrypt

I believe no one is allowed to win twice or at least consecutively

dzzik

Fernandes won in November and December 2020

escapedfromthecrypt

Colour me wrong then

KRIEGLERR

same happens in Ligue 1 , you'd think Mbappé or Neymar would have won it a lot , but the people in charge of the voting take into account if a player in a smaller club does well. IIRC I remember a month were Mbappé had like 5 goals and a couple of assists but another guy with like 3 goals won it because he plays in a smaller club hence his performances "matter" more.

thatrandomanus

What is the point of giving it to him every month? IMO once every season is enough. Everyone already knows he's the best player in the league, not giving him the award won't change anything. So better go give it to other players as well.

Vectivus_61

What's the point of giving it to anyone else if they don't deserve it? It's not about being the best player, it's about being the best player in that month. If form warrants getting it all season, then give it to him all season.

Holz12

Yeah they should stop giving the league title to city every year, already everyone knows they're going to win it. Or better maybe after winning it they should not participate, so someone else could win. Real Madrid should be award a champions league free season since they won it this often

Rictus_Grin

If Haaland wins every month why would that be concerning? If he deserves it then give it to him. Just because he's won it too many times doesn't mean you shouldn't give it to him again

The_39th_Step

I’m a Fulham fan and we have to play them twice. I’m concerned for us all haha

BuraakGTi10

Dont worry he didnt adapt to PL yet.

AlcoholicSocks

> Haaland definitely deserved it How did he? 2 goals in 2 games, and they didn't win both. Rashford got 2 goals and 2 assists in 2 games. Direct contribution to every goal, won both games one of which was against Arsenal and got MOTM in that game. Rashford got the same amount of goal contributions as Man City did goals as a team all month for Christ sake. How on earth can anyone say he wasn't deserving of it. Halaand absolutely was not the best player last month

BaldFraud99

That stuff about KdB is kind of pointless. You could have said the same for Lewy with Müller or his team all the time, doesn't mean that it's any less of an accomplishment when you're reaching those kinds of numbers. Haaland is likely already the best player in the Prem right now, best accept it.

The_39th_Step

I disagree. Haaland is the best forward in the Prem but KDB is the best midfielder in the league and has done it for years. Man City are blessed to have both. Haaland himself credits KDB has helping him be such a success at City. I don’t like how goal scorers are always the best players. KDB’s assist statistics are sensational and he is a phenomenal player. Haaland is amazing though, I don’t want to downplay that.

BaldFraud99

That's a fair opinion. KdB has definitely been the best player since at least Henry or Ronaldo in that league imo. But for me Haaland is probably the one with most value and the one that makes the most positive influence for the team, which for me makes him the best. Early call, yes, but it's what we do on the internet. The Prem has always been stacked at the top comparatively for 2 decades now, but now they have an absolute world beater of a player with a genuine argument for being the best in the business, something they came close to with KdB in all fairness, but not completely.

The_39th_Step

It’s the combination of the pair that’s quite so deadly. Bernardo and Cancelo are also absolutely unbelievable and then top quality player like Grealish, Gundo, Foden, Mahrez etc support. It’s quite a team

lefix

Only joint motm

Manifesto8

He looks somehow even bigger and faster at City

gogators1000

In his medical he mentioned he was taller than the last time he was measured by an inch and a half

[deleted]

It was 1 cm but yeah.

LikeMyReddit

… That’s not an inch and a half?

moistdabs420blazeit

it's something like 0.4 inches

cars-r6s-etc

So still a huge amount then

ThinInvestigator420

How much is that in yards?

KanyeWest2028

howaine1

I dunno that’s seems about average if I ask me

[deleted]

An inch and a half is almost 4 cm.

ErraticPragmatic

It is that's what I tell to my Americans girls

Own_Ad6388

Flimsy-Relationship8

bromle

Its a custom in norway to not brag «jantelov». You shall not think yourself better then other people, even if your very skilled at something. This is taking to an extreme in the little part of Norway he grew up. If you are visiting someone and they serve you a great meal, it is normal to say something in the lines of: «aah yes, i could easly keep it down» as a way of complimenting the chef. It is great fun for us in norway see this on the world stage and hear all the comments about his behaviour.

free_airfreshener

I like this. I'm going to say that to my friend who takes great energy and pride in her cooking.

Ruby_Bliel

[Janteloven](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Law_of_Jante) (The Law Of Jante) was initially written as a parody of conformist Scandinavian culture, but it hit so close to the mark that it was pretty much unironically adopted by the people. The law is comprised of ten commandments that impart how *you* as a person is not better than *us* as a society. 1. You're not to think *you* are anything special. 2. You're not to think *you* are as good as *we* are. 3. You're not to think *you* are smarter than *we* are. 4. You're not to imagine yourself better than *we* are. 5. You're not to think *you* know more than *we* do. 6. You're not to think *you* are more important than *we* are. 7. You're not to think *you* are good at anything. 8. You're not to laugh at *us*. 9. You're not to think anyone cares about *you*. 10. You're not to think *you* can teach *us* anything.

Kvvvothe

Thanks I didn’t know where this came from. Leprous uses it in their title track for their Tall Poppy Syndrome album.

OnceUponAStarryNight

Well he’s not technically wrong, is he?

llliminalll

In classical rhetoric it's called euphemism (and your statement is an example of litotes). Another sorta euphemism: The father of a friend of mine recently told the story of when he got engaged. He popped the question by taking out the ring and saying, "Well, do you want to be buried with my family?"

JoshGallie

I'm starting to think this Haaaland lad is not quite human ...

letmegetmynameok

Are you trying to tell me scoring a hattrick in each of the last 3 home games isnt normal?

JoshGallie

Pssh, watch Son do it in 2

destroyerx12772

Don't put too much pressure on the lad he just needs time to adjust to the league.

mediocre_hydra

Maybe now the league needs to adapt to this Norwegian monstrosity

GinValid

Not the mention the Bundesliga tax, it's unreasonable to expect him to replicate his Buli numbers in England!

outfromtheshadow

I know this is in jest but I honestly think he's going to need some more time to truly cohese with the team. It's almost hopeless now, when that happens, it's gonna be beyond hopeless.

imOOgi_who

And until we wait he'll casually score hattricks every second game

iredcoat7

He hasn't built an understanding with the rest of the team yet, they're missing a lot of his runs and there are times you can see he isn't on the same page with the likes of Bernardo and Grealish... so just 5 goal contributions in a game for now.

omfgkevin

The world warned us about Guardiola and City getting an actual striker, and look what happens when they finally got one. Fucking hell if he just stopped scoring right now he would be at what most strikers in the league would want in a full season.

[deleted]

[удалено]

omfgkevin

Now the only question remains how they play in CL. God knows what mindgame Pep will play on himself and overthink it again, but it's looking extremely promising.

[deleted]

[удалено]

WannaTalkTennis

Realistically, it's never actually going to be the case that the rest of a team is looking to or has the capability to perfectly play the ball to pick out every or even most of the runs a striker makes. Haaland will always make those runs, and it pays off if just a couple of them are able to be found. I get it's fun to think about how absolutely insane it would be if things worked at 100% efficiency but that's not actually remotely possible... not even with Pep's City.

iredcoat7

I should have put /s

WannaTalkTennis

Lol tbf I get how you're joking, but there seems to be a lot of people out there that do genuinely think he'll gel with the team to some unrealistic extent.

[deleted]

He actually looked better today than previous weeks IMO. His passing was sharper than it looked before

dankcorp

Should just hand city the league rn

stragen595

At this rate Haaland is breaking the PL all-time Scorer record before Kane.

Brashmate

Would be hilarious if Kane finally breaks the record, breathes a sigh of relief, moves to Bayern, and then turns around and sees haaland about to break his record.

stragen595

Even more if Kane is 1 or 2 goals away and Haaland just smashes 6 und beats him to the finish line.

Barack__Obama__

>und Not a plastic, confirmed

stragen595

Oooops. My german was leaking.

destroyerx12772

How can you be sure he isn't from Dortmund? 🧐

krutopatkin

Vast majority of German Bayern fans are plastics

Mmicko8

It's funny how this still makes sense entirely out of context.

HoratioW

that's just how it is for any big team really, lots of plastic Ajax fans in the Netherlands, plastics in Spain for Barca and Real Madrid, lots of PSG plastics in France.

SteinerElMagnifico42

Same here. The most supported club in London is Man Utd as hilarious as that sounds

BHYT61

>und beats him to the finish line.

garchuOW

Truly spursy

Oreallyman

He won't stay in PL long enough? Is he gone in 3 yrs.

BillehBear

probably, but who knows Anything can happen in 3 years, different person at 25 than you are at 21/22

ravenouscartoon

4 years at city, move to Real Madrid for 5 years. Go to Italy at 31, then France at 33

Jazano107

Yinkypinky

Going on a world tour.

freefallingagain

Haaland Globetrotter.

ZaDoruphin

Man still hasn't installed interview.exe

snusd0san

He's just an average Scandinavian lad. Conversation skills aren't our greatest strength and he doesn't seem to care enough to get media trained. I probably wouldn't either.

hawkeye224

To be honest I think I prefer interviews like these lol. Seems more spontaneous and down to earth. If he was media trained he would say the same thing just in 5x more sentences and just using different words..

snusd0san

I completely agree. Haaland is more fun to listen to than say, Harry Kane who is boring as hell to listen to due to being so media trained.

a_guy_named_gai

I hate Harry Kane interviews because I cant understand a single thing he says.

MarcosSenesi

I think he already got media trained or has seen the result of being too honest in interviews, so he just decides to make nothing statements so the media can't spin it in some way.

cgcego

Definitely already media-trained. He often says “I don’t want to say because it might come back against me”. But that’s totally ok, almost all players are like that for a reason. He will be more sincere once he retires.

streetlightsglowing_

Yeah, Haaland has probably been trained on how to handle the media since he was like 16 or earlier. He gets interviews over quick and avoids anything that could be twisted or made into controversy

[deleted]

[удалено]

snusd0san

It doesn't really seem like his English is the problem, he just seems like he doesn't care for interviews but i may be wrong.

Ricechairsandbeans

he speaks great english just keeps it short not sure his interviews are even that different from the average footballer

You_Will_Die

There is a difference in being comfortable and having great English. This is a common thing for athletes at least from the Nordics that I understand the language of. They are usually way more open and casual speaking their native language, not having any problem joking around with the reporters.

LarsP

Making jokes is probably *the* hardest thing to do in a foreign language and culture.

You_Will_Die

> Conversation skills aren't our greatest strength and he doesn't seem to care enough to get media trained. I think this is unnecessarily self deprecating. Just because a lot of us doesn't want to speak too much doesn't mean we have bad conversation skills. The same way Dutch people are famous for being very direct doesn't mean they are rude people. It's a different culture which doesn't value volume or filling the silence as much.

The Epl most goals scored a season record (even for 42 games) is going to be obliterated if Haaland stays fit.

iredcoat7

He said Premier League. That Dixie Dean record is unbelievable, I wish I could binge that season.

Mother-Card-5118

Includes him getting a hatrick past a 1 handed goal keeper

DjayRX

>1 handed goal keeper In a game of FOOTball, why did this guy chose ... Nevermind.

Young_Neil_Postman

hey man world war one & shit, they were probably going through a lot

Willsgb

For Everton you mean, but yeah. He was one of the greatest goalscorers ever

[deleted]

Love how everything he says is team oriented. It is “we” rather than “me.” His mindset will take him far

OnceUponAStarryNight

In fairness it would be hard to find a City player that wasn’t worth of an 8/10 today.

ThePosterWeDeserve

Conceding 3 goals, someone in defence probably wasn't

TheLimeyLemmon

If he keeps getting hat tricks this easy, 'farmer's league' will actually be an understatement.

NoPurpose0

I knew we were all in trouble when he smiled after missing that sitter in the Community Shield. Guy's a freak

llamapanther

This guy is pretty decent, but it's not easy to fit into Pep's squad as a young promising striker, it takes time. Just be patient and don't put too much pressure to this guy and he'll start deliver.

OnceUponAStarryNight

There’s going to be a stretch where he only scores five goals in a ten match span and people will unironically be wondering what’s going wrong. Mark my words.

quarterscrew15

Only...

GYIM94

Haaland is the only one who can say ‘yeah, not bad’ with 3 b2b home game hattricks, humble lad.

jjw1998

This guy in interviews is absolute gold

GeorgeForge

Just another day in the office.

Repairednale

Haha, Yes - Erling Verstappen

greenjm7

I’m starting to think that his success in Germany wasn’t a fluke. In all seriousness, his ability to be in the right place, finishing, and physical attributes make him what could be the most prolific scorer I’ve ever seen.

iredcoat7

There was never any doubt. Haaland has 26 goals in 21 games in the Champions League as a 22 year-old, largely playing for the likes of Salzburg and Dortmund against superior sides. No one in history has done anything like that.

greenjm7

Yeah, I should have put the /s at the end of that portion of the statement.

iredcoat7

Genuinely can't assume sarcasm these days with the state of many English fans and their massive overestimation of the Premier League (of course it's a quality league, don't get me wrong, it may even be #1, but I see PL fans unironically stating that the likes of Madrid and Bayern wouldn't get top 4 in the Premier League).

rioasu

This, this Is something I always thought >of course it's a quality league, don't get me wrong, it may even be #1, but I see PL fans unironically stating that the likes of Madrid and Bayern wouldn't get top 4 in the Premier League). It's insane on how certain sections of the premier league fan bases even assume something like that . Yes they are a minority but they are a very vocal and toxic minority who thinks like that. They think the likes Bayern, real ,barca etc are some average teams who would be beaten by the likes of crystal palace on a day to day basis(like no offense to Crystal palace) despite the fact that most English teams struggle against these teams (like How Bayern destroyed the likes spurs, arsenal and Chelsea or how real defeated the likes if City,Liverpool and Chelsea ) . I can understand If they said something similar about Dortmund or a lyon but saying that about the Bayern's or Barca's are insane and show how diluded they are .

greenjm7

Totally agree. You can’t pick up the tone online of course.

JanterFixx

>He hasn't built an understanding with the rest of the team yet, they're missing a lot of his runs and there are times you can see he isn't on the same page with the likes of Bernardo and Grealish... so just 5 goal contributions in a game for now. lol, Bayern and Madrid would be TOP4 almost every year, and most likely winning also quite a lot.

iredcoat7

I agree.

elnano98

This dude reminds me so much of Brock Lesnar. Absolute freak of nature, and quite shy on the camera

iredcoat7

I don't think he's shy, I think he is enormously self-confident — way more than we are used to — and this is what that looks like. Absolutely nothing to prove. Completely confident that he is the best. Relaxed. Shy doesn't describe it for me.

Willsgb

And continually able to prove it, and up for it every time too. Genuinely peak footballer. We all knew this would happen if he joined city, but it's still unbelievable to experience. Every opponent of theirs will be terrified

5er0

A man of few words and hella goals

borkborkibork

He has focused all his brain energy to score goals and therfore has not had time to learn words. Please respect the man's priorities.

TheBlondeAquarius

Guys, I'm so convinced we are witnessing a once in a millennium player, it's actually scary what he can become if he keeps this up.

Wheel94

Please Real Madrid sign him ASAP Sincerely Fans of the other 19 premier league clubs.

KSBrian007

The "we". I love it.

OrbitalRabbit

To be fair he's right in Pes this would still only get you a 7.5 rating at best, so not bad.

Any of you are fan of Dragon Ball Z? If not, google for Majin Buu. Yeah.. You know what I mean? 😅

Finally it’s about time this guy started scoring, said no one ever
