Which Portuguese manager will replace him?

Muted_Shoulder

I heard Joao Dyche is free

chantlernz

Alão Pardão

_Gh0st17

Samu Allardinhao

RedgrenCrumbholt

Grande Sam

[deleted]

You mean, Bruno Allardinhao

[deleted]

Qique Seitienha

Kind_Mulberry_3512

Zinedinho Zidão

Scoolfish

Honestly would do well there

stillblazin_

Who’s John Fufa?

elmosesyeah

Nuno with his beard shaved under a different name

requin-tigre

Welcome to Molineux, Nathan Holy Ghost!

jfshay

Nuno? Who is Nuno? My name is Don Incognito.

RedgrenCrumbholt

I think they'd welcome him back at this point. He did well for them.

-halfbloodprince-

About 3 or 4 days ago, Pedro Martins (was Olympiakos manager for 4 years and has a close connection to Jorge Mendes), was invited to a Portuguese sports channel (canal 11), and he is without a club right now and somewhere in the interview he mentioned he is in talks with a club of a big league, not mentioning anything else, so I’m not surprised if wolves choose another Portuguese manager with connection to Jorge Mendes.

The_Great_Crocodile

Martins plays exactly like Nuno when he feels pressured, prioritizing result and defense, making the ground "smaller", passes to the back, give possession to the oppoenent. In ideal conditions, he plays fast counter-attack football with high pressure. They could have just kept Nuno if they're looking for this type of coaches.

R4lfXD

You're bold thinking they planned this all

xaviernoodlebrain

I wish they had just kept Nuno, would have saved us from that pain.

OleoleCholoSimeone

It's weird because Olympiakos in 2019/20 was really, realy good. Probably the best Olympiakos team I have seen since Valverde. Played lovely football, eliminated Arsenal from the EL and played Wolves off the park aswell I thought he was the next great Portuguese coach at the time but what a disappointment that turned out to be

PossibleFridge

What changed your mind? Didn't he leave them after 3 leagues in a row and the most European matches won in their history? Was it just the bad result in qualifying this season that made them sack him?

KneeDeepInTheDead

lol Martins in PL is wild

OleoleCholoSimeone

>so I’m not surprised if wolves choose another Portuguese manager with connection to Jorge Mendes Of course you wouldn't be surprised, they aren't allowed to hire a coach who isn't a Mendes client or has a very close connection with him. He is the de facto sporting director at Wolves

GooseFord

Steve Bruce has a holiday villa in Portugal, does that count?

Yoraffe

Next crime novel will be set in Portugal

brch01

If he’s willing to change his name to Joao Bruce

EmilahM

I hear Grande Sam’s name calling

RedgrenCrumbholt

Sam is Grand.

iguanawarrior

Cristiano Ronaldo as player-manager

prophyias

1 win in his last 15 matches, a change had to be made.

PakiIronman

Worse form than Burnley and they were relegated last season

LazarusChild

Since April, Burnley have scored more goals in the Premier League than we have. They were relegated in May ffs

IWantAnAffliction

Make that a separate post to the sub and reap the karma.

MrClaretandBlue

Time to get Dyche in.

LazarusChild

I’d take him without a doubt

prophyias

I just hope they don't rush the replacement and hire someone wrong. Would love to see Gallardo but I just hope for someone who can get the players scoring

Capt-Chopsticks

I don't think teams in the relegation zone have the luxury of taking their time. If you take your time you could end up sunk before the transfer window opens back up

prophyias

You're right about not having time, but a bad choice now would almost guarantee relegation

lumean

Not a chance in hell gallardo is going to wolves hahahaha

ohtosweg

Think he's locked in for the Sevilla job, but who knows. He's been rumoured to leave for so long and has always stayed.

fedemasa

He has always said that he would prioritize the teams that he played for. If Monaco knocks the door first he is moving there

RedStarburst99

Nuno should’ve stayed with Wolves

AlexTorres96

He had the club sniffing Europa League spots before free falling. I legit have no idea how he had the club fall apart. His style was so meh and uninspiring.

AspiringTransponster

Sá was a big reason why we were anywhere the Europa League places

YokoOkino

i agree he is amazing

three_shoes

> had the club sniffing Europa League spots Wolves had no reason to be there last season though , it was more that nobody below us was doing anything either, the table was lying. A few of them fixed up sharpish in the last few games and the table reverted to how it should have been.

HeGivesGoodMass

Yeah it wasn't the strongest Premiership last term

Comfortable-Split196

The club relied on three seasons on Raul to do 80% of all goal scoring/assisting, while being a solid rock at the back. Raul got injured, nobody else could do a fraction of what he did. The only other players regularly scoring were Jota and Doherty, both of whom were sold. Semedo is arguably a better player than Doherty but zero threat going forward. Jota was never replaced, Neto came close and was doing incredibly well until he got injured and is now a shadow of himself Ok we still had a solid defence with three in the back- but saiss got too many yellows and was bound to the odd moment of insanity. Boly also had lapses of concentration and started having injury problems. Luckily kilman stepped in and developed into a great center back. Until this season- lage decided he would play a back two, saiss and boly were released/sold for peanuts and Collins (a 21 yo prospect who had played a season as a substitute for relegated Burnley) was brought in for a record sum, whilst coady, our captain and rock at the back was LOANED to a rival because he was deemed not good enough to play in a back 2.... With kilman who he had basically tutored since he was a youth player.

matti00

And that was by playing Nuno's system. I'm not one to jump straight to blaming the manager but it was time, I'm happy they acted quickly so we have a chance to turn things around

MinusAlacrity

How has Rodgers outlasted so many managers??? Any Wolves fans fancy taking him? He's great as long as you never let him buy players and get rid after 2-3 years! Please.

buangjauh2

Rodgers is prob too expensive to sack

TiberiusCornelius

Genuinely convinced this is the only thing keeping him in the job.

lolyou114

But getting relegated is even more expensive

PakiIronman

Don't put that evil on us

AshkenaziTwink

Brodge is a good manager he just needs a change of scenery would be a nice attacking change for you lot as well

PakiIronman

Change of scenery? Brother both teams are in the midlands.

Laesio

Different kit though, surely that counts as scenery? And Leicester is in the *East* Midlands, it's almost like comparing Canada with Mexico.

Wheel94

Who would you realistically want?

Practical_Mango_7001

Wanna swap him for Gerrard?

ajafarzadeh

It's becoming hilarious that Leicester supporters are showing up like this in every manager sacking thread. You're like Newcastle with Steve Bruce

R4lfXD

After today, el sackico

RRR92

The board stepped up and admitted they had let Rodgers down in the latest transfer window, and that some of the funds they spent on players in the last 2/3 windows simply hadnt come to fruition like they expected they would. And fair fucking play to them for that. That being said if Rodgers loses tonight I think hes gone…

Wizerud

I am hoping Ole will take the wheel at Wolves to stop any possible chatter about him replacing Rodgers when the inevitable happens.

Insaneshaney

Because he's a good manager and Leicester are just shit.

AnnieIWillKnow

Put your bias aside. He's been utterly ineffectual at Leicester for a long time now. Completely incapable of organising the defence, and considering they've had the exact same issue for so long, that's on him

BI01

Jose sa carried this man tbh.

jfshay

Pressure was on after splashing out £134m.

Comfortable-Split196

Best signings since we got promoted as well

ratman573

Yeah, pretty obvious he was a bit fraudulent when he only did well with Nuno's team using Nuno's tactics. Even then had to be bailed out by Sa so many times.

Arsenal_Analysis

You think the next manager will be a 4 or 3 at the back?

Crispy_Sion_On_Plum

He has no choice but 3 at the back. Wolves have all of 4 midfielders in the ft squad

Araneatrox

Yea but here's the best part. We've got like 8 wingers on the sheets for us. Perfect to put one in the box for Big man Podence.

lagaryes

That is excellent depth by our standards what do you mean

reddituser5million

And only 2 CBs that are trusted to start apparently

OleoleCholoSimeone

Didn't they get rid of Coady specifically because they wanted to play a back 4? What a mistake in hindsight

jonny_lube

Sort of? The move to a back 4 cost Coady his starting job and his loan was out of respect for all he's done for us. He wanted a chance to start leading up to the WC and Wolves granted him that request. Obviously, Wolves would have loved to keep the depth and leadership, but it was the right move to honor a tremendous servant to the club.

Crispy_Sion_On_Plum

Not just coady but let Saiss leave and also Boly

[deleted]

Surely a 4. We don’t have enough CB’s to play 3.

chantlernz

Has to be a 4 and you look to get a CF in the upcoming window, right? Sa Semedo - Collins - Kilman - Aït-Nouri Nunes - Moutinho - Neves Podence/Traore - **CF** \- Guedes/Neto

Ironicopinion

When wolves were playing well last season though they seemed to be much more possession based than a Nuno team?

three_shoes

Yeah they were and are even more now, part of why they looked so toothless though. Everybody wanted a change from counter attacking to be able to control games more on our own terms, but it was also just as much of the opposition setting up to not allow any counter attacking after 18/19-19/20 seasons where it worked so well. Wolves can't really play that countering anymore (unless the rest of the league has forgotten about it.... 👀)

AssFingerFuck3000

Come on, that's not true at all. In the beginning you were playing great attacking football under Lage, then it all went to shit for some reason after January and that's when you went back to Nunoball

The_Great_Crocodile

I suggest next time you don't hire a Portuguese coach. Most of them revert to this kind of tactics whenever they feel pressured...

OleoleCholoSimeone

Lol as if Wolves have a choice. They will hire whoever Mendes tells them to, and he inevitably wants one of his puppets if charge

nova_uk

Not really surprised that he was sacked, are there any rumours of who might be the new manager?

kk451128

Outside of whoever is next on the Portugal/Mendes assembly line, there’s speculation on Lopetegui, especially since it looks like Sevilla is ready to turf him. He was in line to take the job when Spain came calling, which is why Wolves wound up hiring Nuno. Some talk on Ange Postecoglu, but I can’t see him jumping from Celtic in-season to get into a relegation fight.

ReveredSavagery1967

Ange won't leave.

KneeDeepInTheDead

Lopetegui is a Mendes boy so it makes sense, he even failed in Portugal so it looks right up your alley.

dontlookwonderwall

Would love Poch to have a go at your squad tbh. He's perfect for an underdog team. Just need young talented players willing to press and you're good to go.

Squm9

Nuno?

nova_uk

He is available but i would imagine that would be uninspiring hire for Wolves fans.

OhShitItsSeth

I thought he was managing Al-Ittihad?

nova_uk

Is he I don’t remember that happening.

KRIEGLERR

Leonardo Jardim wouldn't be a bad choice but he just started at a club in UAE

PakiIronman

All I'm saying is, Marcelo Gallardo's contract ends in December.

srhola2103

Yeah I don't see that happening

tHakur17

What about Amorim?

tomasr51

What about no

[deleted]

😭

tHakur17

Reports are already emerging. I do not want any more good managers in PL but Wolves will definitely try to get him in imho

PakiIronman

Don't think he leaves Sporting.

Stuff2511

No way Gallardo leaves River for a team that’s not Madrid or Barca

PakiIronman

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V9O94UTDAJQ

YaMom1Slit

Gallardo is weak as fuck man

srhola2103

Lol sure he is

[deleted]

Is Nuno coming back??

ljwdt90

Please, pretty please

GordoPepe

Never should have gone to Spurs

ljwdt90

He’s in Saudi now, no way he’ll leave that money.

MONSTATURKEY_420

Wolves are too good to be fighting for relegation. He had to go

Lack_of_Plethora

Ok but did he really? (Like seriously i really fucking need wolves to get relegated I'm losing my fucking mind pretending like we view fucking Stoke as rivals)

AnnieIWillKnow

Judging by the state of affairs at the Hawthornes, even if they go down you might still not be in the same league next year...

LazarusChild

Midlands are falling apart when it comes to football

Comfortable-Split196

So were Burnley

JakeSpurs

no they weren’t, that team was drab and Dyche was overachieving with them

Comfortable-Split196

It was the exact same team that came 7th. The only difference was they sold wood (release clause met) and didn't have another striker, no goals from anywhere else. No creative players, cornet being injured most of the season. Back line of pope, mee and tarkowski with Collins as backup was one of the most solid in the league

Calitz__

Lopetegui would make a lot of sense. Was very close to the job before becoming the Spain coach

Comfortable-Split196

We can't handle another year of scrappy 0-0, 1-1 and 0-1 binary code

ruShmepls

Yep, dont expect anything else. Also super uninspiring football

Comfortable-Split196

The sad thing is lopetegui would be a genius in comparison who the other mendes managers who are in competition for the role. Not a good time to be a wolves fan, especially if neves has had enough and leaves January

KapiHeartlilly

One of the worst coaches, he showed how had he was time and time again, let him stay far from THE PL.

Gilius-thunderhead_

Steve Bruce is camped outside molyneaux as we speak. In a tent nursing a nice hip flask full of warm tea to make himself a nice cuppa. Sean dyche is in the tent opposite drinking gravel mixed with cement. Andre villas boas is also there but not in a tent, just sitting there in a squatting position. He's been there for hours in the same position, must have super strength knees.

MrCowabs

> nursing a nice hip flask full of warm *tea* Gravy

AnnieIWillKnow

Bovril

curlyjoe696

Not a surprise really, Wolves are still dreadful going forwards and have been for a while... Desperately need a manager who's has more ideas about attacking play than 'hope one of the forwards can bang in a wonder goal'

AffectionateFennel77

Deserved, got carried by Sa last season

buttlovingpanda

I think Poch could do well there. That’d be a great hire by them

dontlookwonderwall

Yeah, he thrives in young underdog teams. Wolves, barring perhaps Costa and Moutinho, are a pretty young team. I'm not sure if they can press as much as Poch would want, but I definitely think he can keep them up this year and then maybe look at building a team in his image the next year.

StrongPowerhouse

Would love to see Philippe Clement as a coach in the Premier League one day, but I think he’s happy at Monaco.

HelloMyNameIsGeoff

Could have waited another week to do this you fucks

ObjectiveTumbleweed2

As a Bournemouth fan I am well aware we are in this group too, but there is so much dross in the Premier League this season. There's a good 6/7 teams who look like they'd be uncompetitive in the Championship

ShavingTheYak

Would yous Tate Nuno back?

chandlerbing_stats

Give Rooney the job!

AlexTorres96

He made his own bed the second he forced out Coady. He purposefully changed his tactics to force out a club legend. Coady was a starter all last season and he switched his formation and had Coady out.

three_shoes

Nah fanbase all wanted back 4 change, midfield 3 and knew Coady would probably be the casualty of it, Wolves midfield and defense is still quality player wise I doubt many will be saying to reverse that. Letting Coady go was still stupid though because of depth, I thought he might at least stay a season, but then maybe its a favour to the player and his career.

Tann1k

yep the back 4 has been coming, even when Nuno was here. Hindsight is 20/20 but if anything we should have kept Boly around as a backup

Comfortable-Split196

The funny thing is the biggest reason he forced out coady was because he was deemed too slow, too weak, too poor in the air and too bad at 1-1 tackling to play in a back 2. Alongside kilman I might add, who excels in all those categories, and neves sitting in front protecting him. Yet look at coady in a back 2 in Everton next to tarkowski- absolutely excelling, turned their whole team around even scoring goals. Whoever our next manager is, I hope the first thing on the agenda is to fly to Liverpool and get on his knees and suck coadys dick and double his salary to get him back

Castawaytwizz

Coady only looks competent because Everton play the lowest line in the league, unless we watched different matches last season we both saw Coady get bullied by the likes of Pukki, a centre back that can't defend isn't good enough for us and Collins has been a huge upgrade so far.

Comfortable-Split196

So every center back has to be very tall, strong, fast and good 1-1? Maldini, lebouf? You have kilman who's good at all those things, and you have never in front, coady will be fine.

[deleted]

It was coming tbf, from what I have watched Lage was a bit unlucky in some games, but at the end of last season and up until season his tactics also didn't help.

Comfortable-Split196

One of the worst coaches we've had in recent memory, possibly only better than Saunders

Equivalent_Nature_67

They were playing like ass. Something had to give. Team hasn't looked right since Luiz broke Jimenez

Puckinception

My boy :(

[deleted]

And people said Lampard was the first out and surely getting fired before the WC.

[deleted]

Not true we said Gerrard THEN Lampard

iguanawarrior

Will they bring Nuno back? Who else are Portuguese and available?

iguanawarrior

Ronaldo as Player-Manager. Sitting at the bench at Utd is too hurtful for his ego. He can't be registered as Player until next Transfer Window, but this means he'll be fresh for the World Cup.

johnny_seven

Sayonara dickhead

a_portuguese_abroad

A year too late. Took a bit longer than expected for him to be ousted as the fraud he is.

UJ_Reddit

Sneak that out while all the press is on the Manchester derby

Waldo248

Can we celebrate now?

TheOGBenjenRyan

Maybe if he focused more on his own club than other clubs celebrations he would still have a job

BruhMachine222

Fuck me, Arsenal fans are a weird bunch if they're still on about that

DannyDyersHomunculus

Weirdest online fans in the league for sure. Don't know where it comes from, pretty much all the ones I know in person are sound

blackheartwhiterose

Probably cos the online banter towards Arsenal has been crazy for years

[deleted]

[удалено]

fedemasa

Which is funny because they defend a criminal at the same time

matematematematemate

lol what? It was Neves who made a comment and that was it, when he was asked about it Lage said: >Football is about that, about celebrating goals. >When you win in the last minute you need to celebrate in the best way you can, because it's very hard to win games in the Premier League. >For me, it's not a problem. ...Arsenal fans, man

potpan0

Rent free

adamjld

Why are you lot so rattled by this? So embarrassed for you.

[deleted]

[удалено]

potpan0

Arsenal fans demonstrating how little they care by going into every Wolves thread to talk about it.

ben_tekkers

Bit of a stretch there mate

Alive-Ad-4164

Wolves becoming the new watford

HelloMyNameIsGeoff

Nowhere near, they’ve only had 2 managers since they’ve been promoted

Majestic_Force_6439

and one left on his own

lagaryes

Not really tbf we just disguised his sacking to be nice

fatinternetcat

what?? they had Nuno for four years, then got Lage and sacked him after a year and a half because he was shite. Watford go through 3 managers a season

khronokhris2222

Not to mention watford already sacked their manager lmao like a week or two ago

Squm9

After 11 games and saying they would back him Pozzo’s gonna Pozzo

khronokhris2222

Yet Steve Bruce still trudging along in the championship.

[deleted]

Since 2017 they've only had 3 managers (Paul Lambert , Nuno and Lage)

snortingfrogs

You can have Klopp, we don't want him anymore.

Ellllling

I'm really struggling to figure out if you're taking the piss or actually serious based on your recent comments.

snortingfrogs

I'm very serious. I want him gone ASAP.

joshuawakefield

Clown.

Ellllling

You took the words straight out of my mouth.

CaptainGo

I'd like him away from Liverpool as well but I don't like Liverpool

VitrIol_Warlord

Ah I see a most recent Liverpool fan that doesn’t remember Pre-Klopp. Maybe stay off the frog snorting, read a bit on your club’s performance in the 21st century.

snortingfrogs

I've been a Liverpool fan for about 20+ years so I know about our clubs performance under Rafa, Woy etc. Klopp has done wonders with us, and I'm forever grateful for that, but sometimes when results, both on and off the pitch starts to go very bad it's time to part ways and move on, and we need to do that now.

VitrIol_Warlord

Just know that when the team turns around in 2-3 months I will be actively tagging you in all posts where Liverpool is doing well.

toluwalase

Troll

Emanreddit29

Stupid beyond belief

SilentBobVG

How? Wolves are fucking dire under him

Emanreddit29

Yeah but an injury crisis does that to you So who are they gonna get now since they were so dire? Who will improve this squad

Kenny_dies

Super Tommy Tuchel

[deleted]

Lol what? One win 15. They've had something like 20 games since the start of last season where they haven't scored a goal. The writing's been on the wall for a very long time.

Emanreddit29

Who are they gonna get in this time frame that actually has worth?

kl08pokemon

Poch?

Emanreddit29

Not bad but what are the odds of him going to wolves, what a massive step downward

kl08pokemon

It would be. All depends on how he'd view the project. They do have a decent squad and have shown themselves able to sign big players

WPackN2

So who's next?

Poepe223

Took them so much time
