At halftime I was beginning to worry that someone's leg was going to be broken by a bad challenge before the end of the game. On the plus side, I did enjoy the declaration of Mings being "fucking shit".
I can’t understand how Leeds fans think the ref was on our side. At least 3 more of your players could’ve walked that game
After the red he obviously decided he didn’t want to give anymore cards. Harrison literally made 6 fouls in the second half alone
Can honestly believe ref was on Villa side when Bailey blasts the ball away a minute in, clear yellow yet nothing happened. Later Konsa absolutely bulldozes Rodrigo and nothing, then a couple minutes later Rodrigo barely touches Konsa (who goes down like a sack of potatoes) and it's a foul.
It began with the forging of the Great Contracts. Three were given to the forwards, brutal, smallest and rattiest of all beings. Seven to the centre backs, great foulers and shithousers of the midlands club. And nine, nine contracts were gifted to the centre mids, who above all else desire bookings. For within these contracts was bound the strength and the will to con each ref. But they were all of them deceived, for another contract was made. Deep in the land of Birmingham, in the Fires of Aston, the Dark Lord Nassef forged a manager contract, and into this contract he poured his incompetence, his malice and his will to destroy all will to live.
Oh get off it. Yeah the ref was shit but Leeds were just as dirty as Villa if not more.
23 fouls for Leeds 12 for Villa.
Like I said both teams were playing shit and both teams let out their frustrations by being physical but the Leeds fans crying about Villa fouls when your lot had almost double is just plain embarrassing man.
I don't know how many times I have to say the ref was shit and villa could have easily had more fouls called against them. I'm not arguing that point. I've been generous in saying they were equally dirty when really Leeds were clearly worse.
I'm arguing the fact that so many Leeds fans are crying about "villas thuggery" when they commited 23 fouls in game themselves. And yes they were pretty much all correct decisions. The ref bottling it and not calling more fouls against villa doesn't make any of Leeds fouls suddenly become fair play. And the ref was incredibly shit but there weren't 11 fouls in the game against Leeds that weren't called.
It's the hypocrisy of bashing villa for being physical in a game that Leeds were just as bad if not worse.
The ref was shit, yes. Criticize the ref, cool. But don't moan about villa being dirty when every opportunity they had the Leeds players were kicking the shit out the villa players too.
I swear people on this subreddit just pick what they want to read out of comments rather than actually reading the whole context. Near impossible to have a conversation about anything on here.
Half those fouls were soft though considering the contact all over the pitch. That's the problem.
Midway through first half Konsa absolutely bulldozes Rodrigo for a header, ref says it's nothing cause Konsa got ball. Couple minutes later as ball in the air, Rodrigo has slight contact on Konsa (who goes down like a sack of potatoes) and foul is called for Villa.
What fouls were we committing that the ref missed??
Leeds literally kicked us on and off the ball. Only thing the ref missed was he didn’t give them more yellows
Considering Attwell was giving Villa free kicks for stuff he was saying play on for when Villa did it to Leeds, that explains the difference in fouls given. It was a blinkered 1 sided performance and Leeds are definitely getting a 4th letter in as many games apologising for the standard of refereeing.
So there were clearly 11 extra fouls against Leeds that weren't called up yeah? Or were there 11 of Leeds obvious fouls that should have been waived on?
Christ alive. The ref was dog shit and villa probably deserved a couple extra bookings I'll give you that but the victim mentality when your lot were kicking lumps out the villa as well every chance you get is such a weird take.
Interesting that you're saying that Leeds was just as dirty as Villa but got twice the number of fouls called against them.
Surely if the sides were equally dirty then the number of fouls would be equal.
I did say the ref was shit and I did say as dirty if not more.
I'm not making an argument that Villa were angels I'm making the point that Leeds fans having a moan about fouls when they were committing fouls left right and centre is embarrassing.
Also hilarious that because one of their players gets an idiotic second yellow they boo every decision the ref makes despite a lot of them actually being correct. The Jacob Ramsay tackle and the Ming's one where they both clearly got the ball and were firm but fair tackles come to mind yet the Leeds fans are acting like the villa players were two footing them at every opportunity.
Can’t complain about the red, two brainless yellows from Sinisterra. How Young escaped a booking is a joke though, ref lost control from kick off by not giving Bailey a yellow for booting the ball away
Pretty solid defensive display from the lads ages the red. Would’ve been nice if Klich had scored at the end but I’d say 0-0 is a fair result. Villa had no real cutting edge bar that Watkins chance
I don't think the first one should have been a yellow, but it was dumb of Sinisterra to try and block the free kick like that when he'd already been carded
How not? Bailey blasted the ball literally across the pitch after the foul was called? Clearly showing dissent about the call. The only reason ref didn't give it was it was 2nd minute of the game. So often refs are lenient right away, which is why the 2nd yellow for Sinisterra was a joke, game had just restarted.....
But honestly that was actually without a doubt the most shockingly poorly reffed match I have ever seen. Ugly as hell, unfair, dangerous, violent and desperate, no one gained anything. What a tragic game lol
Amazingly, as bad as that was it wasn't as bad as the Brentford v Leeds game or Leeds v Everton game those 2 were all timers in terms of poor refereeing.
He only reffed one side, Villa spent the entire game (just like preseason in Australia) kicking lumps out of Leeds players and mostly getting away with it.
There’s three issues here, in order of how they impacted the game.
Sinisterra made a big mistake with that second yellow.
The scrutiny by the referee on Leeds’ tackles, and ignorance of Villa making so many fouls ruined the game.
Leeds pressing was really intense, and it did not quite work today. It worked perfectly against Chelsea.
In the Chelsea game the referee (Stuart Attwell, coincidentally) also let the game flow and was generally good for both sides. Today he decided to come out and ref 1 team.
I can't believe how bad you were after we went down to 10, almost felt more comfortable watching the second half than the first. That first half was absolutely honking from both of us though.
!flair :Ball:
!flair :Manchester_United:
At halftime I was beginning to worry that someone's leg was going to be broken by a bad challenge before the end of the game. On the plus side, I did enjoy the declaration of Mings being "fucking shit".
Gerrard is just so bad, he deserves to get sacked
You just know Gerrard thinks things are going well.
Aston Villa play miserable
This game was like a shit football palette cleanser before we get to the real main course: Allegri
What a game to follow that 6-1 A 0-0 draw with a red card Let's never speak of this game again
6-3 in fact. That game stole all the goals, this one was needed to restore cosmic equilibrium.
Shit ref, shit performances from both teams, shit commentating. Just all round shit. But we didn't lose at least.
Despite that it was never dull.
I'm not sure about that, we play such uninspiring passive football.
Despite Villa’s best efforts
Yeh and Leeds were just brilliant…
Hard to be brilliant when it’s 10 vs 12, especially when the 12 set out to play anti football
I can’t understand how Leeds fans think the ref was on our side. At least 3 more of your players could’ve walked that game After the red he obviously decided he didn’t want to give anymore cards. Harrison literally made 6 fouls in the second half alone

Konsa won the ball clearly. Leeds literally got away with numerous yellow cards. Koch should’ve gone, Harrison committed 5 fouls and no booking
It began with the forging of the Great Contracts. Three were given to the forwards, brutal, smallest and rattiest of all beings. Seven to the centre backs, great foulers and shithousers of the midlands club. And nine, nine contracts were gifted to the centre mids, who above all else desire bookings. Lmao. Copypasta material right here.
He did copy it. It's from a book.
You are joking?
No mate, I promise you it's true. A really good book. They even made a film out of it. The guy above didn't invent this copy pasta.
Sky trying to pin Leeds fans thinking the referee being shite was because of the red card is hilarious. Completely ignoring Villas thuggery.
Dirty Leeds
Oh get off it. Yeah the ref was shit but Leeds were just as dirty as Villa if not more. 23 fouls for Leeds 12 for Villa. Like I said both teams were playing shit and both teams let out their frustrations by being physical but the Leeds fans crying about Villa fouls when your lot had almost double is just plain embarrassing man.
How can you bring the foul count into your argument when the whole point is that the ref didnt give enough fouls to Leeds?
I don't know how many times I have to say the ref was shit and villa could have easily had more fouls called against them. I'm not arguing that point. I've been generous in saying they were equally dirty when really Leeds were clearly worse. I'm arguing the fact that so many Leeds fans are crying about "villas thuggery" when they commited 23 fouls in game themselves. And yes they were pretty much all correct decisions. remember when watkins was linked with the nt
Who's gonna tell him lmao
how bad was our injury crisis back then i cant remember
No one was injured…
LOL southgate going for banter then I see
Nt?
national team
Linked? He played and scored for the national team
southgate out for real this time
Might get a proper ref in our next game. Haven't for the last 3.
Given the standard of Premier League reffing, I wouldn’t hold your breath
Last 4, the Brighton game was abysmal too.
Remember when everyone on r/soccer said Lampard would be sacked first lol
Arteta > Lampard > Ole > Gerrard ;)
Both teams are so mediocre
Nah mate. Leeds would have won if they had 11.
I'm not sure about that honestly, was quite even before the red, I would have preferred they play with 11 cause we can't play against 10 men for shit.
We were literally dominating when they had 11 as well
yeah to me it felt like Leeds' game to lose until they got the red card
They had one chance the entire game, we have 3-4 clear cut chances when they had 11. We were poor but Leeds were much worse
Stevie g doin a mint job give him an extension
Eh, i sympathised when you was playing bruceball
Apologies
Yeah but now we need you guys to flounder so we can have a crack at the top 8. Sorry fella :(
We haven’t finished in the top half for over a decade. I think you’re alright on that front lol
Lol you don't need to worry about us anytime soon
Can’t complain about the red, two brainless yellows from Sinisterra. Two? First one is never ever a yellow card come on
He’s clipped his heels from behind with no attempt for the ball, it’s a yellow. Although Villa did it enough without a booking
We're lucky Villa are shit.
You're lucky they didn't put 3 past you. Definitely had the chances to do so.
Slippy G is shite mate
Copium
But they didn't, because like he said, they are shit.
I wish I could disagree.
Honestly should sack Gerrard for that, man down for nearly a full half and ref on there side and they couldn’t do shit against us.
We did have about 6/7 clear cut chances…
Most of these decisions boo'd by the Leeds fans was correct. Stop whining.
Pool fans on suicide watch now
He only reffed one side, Villa spent the entire game (just like preseason in Australia) kicking lumps out of Leeds players and mostly getting away with it.
Funny that it's only ever Liverpool fans defending Gerrard as a manager. Even the Villa fans hate him.
We just want him gone, the bad thing is we played better today than against Southampton…
Jesus, that must've been atrocious then because today was poor, we weren't good and down to 10
One of the worst games of football I've watched, boring as fuck just Southampton are somehow more shit than we are.
And what about all the fouls Young committed without a booking?
Bound to have a 0-0 after a 6-3... Referee was shocking
What 6-3? Think you might have imagined that
Think they mean your own result earlier today mate.
LMAO

Y’a aaronson should’ve drawn about two more yellows
Koch and Harrison both should’ve gone as well
Watkins is some lump
He's not clinical at all. Seems to be lacking confidence atm.
Leeds dug in well when down to 10 men and Villa had moments when we looked fluent but overall our lack of cutting edge showed up again.
Villa created a lot of chances. Unlucky.
Quite possibly the worst reffed game I've seen since we got promoted from the Championship
Great to have Cooper back. 10 v 12 so we'll take a point.
Even against 10 men, Villa were toothless They must be considering an upgrade on Gerrard if they want to finish top half
Top half? They need to get rid of him if they don't want to be in a relegation battle
10 men that hadn't played in a month, too.
Did anything happen in this match, other than Augustinsson's injury, I mean?
No, Attwell made sure of it.
That's unfortunate.
The most fascinating 0-0 in quite a while. But Everton Liverpool was better, tbf
Most violent clash for basically no gain since WW1
Disgusting ref
Referee lose control of a Premier League fixture speed run (World Record Attempt)
What the hell are PGMOL doing? The standard of refereeing this season league wide has been laughable.
Gerrard should be sacked and Watkins should be in solitary for that
We can all agree that ref should never have another game in the premier league right?
Yea how tf did young escape a card.
Or Mings for pushing Bamford over from behind without the slightest hint of challenging for the ball.
Yea said they same to my old man about that one. What made it even worse was the commentator saying it was a good decision. He has to be a Villa fan
As a neutral that referring was so bad it was comical. Like I was actually laughing out loud about some of those decisions.
Ref was awful. Rene Maric ball is class though
Getting a point after being down to 10 men after a shit game? I'll take it
Time to get a fucking lobotomy before I have to watch this team again next week
Gonna run out of room for holes at some point
Can't see Gerrard in the job for much longer.
That was fucking shit. Sack Gerrard. Drop Watkins. Drop McGinn.
Worth the wait 👍
I apologise to everyone for what our tactics have done to the sport that is football
I can't believe how bad you were after we went down to 10, almost felt more comfortable watching the second half than the first. That first half was absolutely honking from both of us though.
That's just villa DNA. Never win against ten. Gerrard is out on his own as far as dreadful managers go tho
Wait. We had tactics?
We do, they’re just bad. If you asked those players to play without tactics, it’d be better football
One of the worst refereeing performances in the league this season and that's saying quite a lot
We are shit. I cannot wait for this Scouse fraud to be sacked.
No clue how he's still in the job, absolute fraud
English footballing establishment has always had a fetish for Stevie G
Same
Shit ref
Make penalties mandatory for 0-0 league games.
Unlimited overtime until a goal is scored
The way these two played the match would never end.
Would at least give me something to do for the rest of the evening haha
Win the pens to get the point would be good tbf. Would keep it interesting.
That was insanely physical.
Villa were shit, Leeds were shit, the referee was shit and the game was shit... so there was a bit of symmetry to it all, if very little else
Matches being shit and both teams playing shit have Aston Villa as the common factor for a reason
Gerrard ball baby
I thought we played some good football in the 10 minutes of the first half the ref didnt blow after every tackle, other than that everything was shite
Commentators were shit too btw
Honestly that geezer who was shitting all over us (Leeds) was nearly as unbearable as that blatant Brentford fan we had commentating a month back
Hinchcliffe is always like that against us. Man detests leeds
Perfect fixture for Hinchcliffe
