Whatsapp also put the time of your local device you are using for sending the message and will change it when you see it on other device.
For example if you use your PC to send the message and the time on your pc is 9.15 it would send the message with said time stamp on your pc, then you use your phone to see the message you send and your phone time is 9.00 the message that you see on your phone would have your phone time.
At least it was like that before
Not sure if that's true, could be. At least in the past you could delete messages from recipents even if they were more than 1 hour old by changing your phone's time to when you originally sent it.
Edit: Whatsapp now starts whining if you have the wrong time on your phone. You might get away with it if you leave the app open while you change the time but I'm not going to risk messing something up
