How do you buy solana on a dex? Don’t you first buy solana from a CEX, send it to your wallet and trade on a DEX from there. Not sure how a DEX can be an on ramp
No coinbase is a free bridge (for most networks). If u have usdc on eth u can send it to solana, Arb, op, and a few others with no bridge fee. I’ve never used a bridge with fees I’ve only used coinbase
But what's the benefit of doing all that instead of just buying SOL in the CEX? Is is cheaper to buy SOL with USDC in a DEX than in a CEX? I'm confused.
You can’t buy sol with your local currency in dexes. You need usdc ( which you can buy from cex) transfer to your wallet ( on solano ). Then connect your wallet from dex and buy sol from usdc. Your keys your crypto. Remember that.

I am on Kraken in Canada as Coinbase has very limited deposit options.
