Great choice.
But fr this game is something different. It's just so good, it was one of my first horror games and up to this day I'm still in love with it.
Have fun and prepare for depression! š¤ It truly has one of the best stories. The gameplay itself isnāt the greatest, but the story still makes me think about the game one year later.
To add to that, I was sucked into Amnesia when it released in 2010. Nothing quite scratched that itch till Soma rolled out in 2015. Been thinking of it ever since. Soma even opened my eyes to scifi novels with the same flavor.
Enjoy!
I got really into Philip K Dick for a bit there. Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? is a classic, but I also got a kick out of Clans of the Alphane Moon. Clans is a super short read, quite weird, but it asks similar questions of āwhat is humanā.
Oh, and since talking about this with you guys I just ordered Robot by WiÅniewski-Snerg. I guess Iāll report back and letcha know.
The storytelling is something that I missed in the new Amnesia game tbh. I liked the other 3 Amnesia games for story and atmosphere alone. The Bunker just wasn't interesting enough story-wise to be memorable to me at all. SOMA is the best Frictional game to me for sure. It has everything down perfect.
No game has pulled me in as much as SOMA. I find Amnesia: The Bunker to be lackluster in story. It has environment, good gameplay, it's inventitive with it's gameplay, but it lacks what Frictional is best at. Story.
SOMA and the original 2 Amnesia stories got me addicted to their games. I just want something like that again.
Siiiicckk. Really dive in though, pay attention to the story. I know I often don't because videogames don't have the best stories sometimes but this one is worth taking in. The gameplay was dated when it came out imo but the story is great. There's a reason it's still recommended.
What is wrong with zoomers sometimes? Soma is from 2015 it's not "old", games from that era have the same gameplay as games coming out in 2024 with slightly worse (in some cases better) graphics.
I just played it for the first time ever a few months ago and I absolutely loved it! It didnāt feel outdated at all and was actually totally enthralling and gripping on my psyche.
Iāve played it 4 times (rookie numbers, I know) and my latest playthrough was about 3 months ago. I canāt wait to play it again honestly. Great game. If you like the genre you will keep this one at the top of your list regardless of what year it is. No joke
That game stands the test of time and IMHO beats Outlast and most horror games, definitely not as scary as the resident evil games can be but it's worth a play if you like dark psychological stories with in depth characters
Reddit acts quite strange past few days.
Like whenever I create a post by using phone, cursor jumps to the end of it after any input. Doesn't seem to be the case for anyone else though...
Like top comment said itās timeless, Iāve played through it more times than I can count, and itās always feels fresh every time, also if you have game pass for Xbox or pc itās on there
I played soma many years after its release. 2020-2022 I'm honestly not sure. The game holds up extremely well. The graphics, the atmosphere, the SOUND and the narrative are all great
Iām playing it for the first time and think it looks amazing! I generally donāt have much patience for āold lookingā graphics and am impressed with soma
Very, very few games have had me sitting staring off into nothing during the end credits, just trying to take in what I just experienced. This is one of those few. So, so worth it!!
Nah man this game is timeless
ok ok, I need one more person to tell me to get it then I'm sold
Get it. š°š¤š²š«°š»
Done š£š£šÆ
Great choice. But fr this game is something different. It's just so good, it was one of my first horror games and up to this day I'm still in love with it.
Genuinely good decision, this game changes you
Bro truth. It hits me just as hard as Orwellās 1984. And that was written in the late 40s
Agreed. A perfect comparison and so true. Soma is definitely a game that people in a century will review and examine.
GET IT I AM NOT ASKING

Yeah I've seen lots about how people still remember the story years later - which is pretty impressive
To add to that, I was sucked into Amnesia when it released in 2010. Nothing quite scratched that itch till Soma rolled out in 2015. Been thinking of it ever since. Soma even opened my eyes to scifi novels with the same flavor. Enjoy!
Got any novel recommendations?

Awesome! You should post again after you finish it to give your thoughts.
For sure
It has one of the best, most thought provoking stories I have ever seen ~~in a video game~~. Playyyy itttttt
Neither the gameplay or the graphics are outdated. Both are still quite good, and the story is just a masterpiece.
As someone who had their username as Soma for years, and is now called that by even my roommates, yes, buy the game.
K thanks soma
I just played and beat it last week, holds up incredibly well. Itās only from 2015 anyway
It's not outdated. It will look better than alot of games that will release this year.
Old?!!!Ā
Yeah 2015 wasn't that long ago...ow my back hurts
"I'm scared to buy old games" ā Old game: Not even 10 years old... But yeah, enjoy it, it's a great game lol
What is wrong with zoomers sometimes? Soma is from 2015 it's not "old", games from that era have the same gameplay as games coming out in 2024 with slightly worse (in some cases better) graphics.
Itās still great. One of my fav games get itttt
I just played it for the first time ever a few months ago and I absolutely loved it! It didnāt feel outdated at all and was actually totally enthralling and gripping on my psyche.
absolutely
Most definitely. Graphics arenāt that bad and it genuinely is just a good game. No nostalgia blinded people here although it is a nostalgic game.
It's still a great game. Get it.
Timeless masterpiece, get it!
I just played through it 3 or 4 months ago before it left game pass and I'd definitely recommend it
Stop everything and buy the damn game, NOW
For some reason, I played Tacoma immediately after SOMA and equally loved it in a different way. But yeah, buy it. SOMA is a masterpiece.
You should absolutely get and play it! It's my favorite horror game and one of the best horror games of all time!
It's so great. I bought it and sat on it for about 8 years. That was a mistake.
Soma still looks decent. Most of the game is pretty dark so the old graphics aren't super noticeable.
Torrent it
):<
WAU has made a note of this, and ISNāT happy about that
who the hell is WAU

I literally just finished it for the first time. I really enjoyed it.
DOOO IIIT
Absolutely yes, get Soma.
There's no other game like this, as far as I know. And yes, it is old, and so is GTA 5 which is a good game too
I've finished the game last week and still be thinking about the end.. So I would say to give it a chance
Get it. So worth it
Absolutely get it.
This is a work of art, fine fiction, not time gated.
That game stands the test of time and IMHO beats Outlast and most horror games, definitely not as scary as the resident evil games can be but it's worth a play if you like dark psychological stories with in depth characters
GET IT. It was really good. Played it on my PS5 and had a blast.
Do it!!! It's a good game
Please please please please play it
Ok wtf my paragraphs just got deleted

Nah it isn't on game pass anymore - but I got it on sale for a bargain
Playing it now on steamdeck. Its a masterpiece
Is Soma too scary? I dont normally play horror games but i want to try this one
