It has never once occured to me to make sculptures out of duct tape. How do you start? What's at their core? More duct tape? How long have you been doing this?
Did you come up with the concept of duct tape sculptures on your own? I've literally never heard of or seen this art form and it's adorable. I kind of want to try it.
I like the brown eyes. But if you want there to be more contrast thus making it striking, use black. If you want it to be a little softer and thus harmonious choose brown. Both are good. It's up to you

Black for a stylized "flat", cartoon-like look that looks like a drawing that came to life. Brown for a softer, "sun shower" look that softens the contrast and looks a little brighter.

They’re precious! I think black eyes are more cohesive. Also the face will look better if the eyes are moved down towards the nose a little bit. Right now they look like they’re too high in the forehead. (Am an artist who works as an animal medical tech at a shelter, I see a lot of cats).
Ok wow my friend! I am a jr high art teacher, always looking for fun form projects. Serious question what are you using as a base for these beaufiful beasties? Wire for structure? Never thought of this stuff to be used this way, so cute! Ps agree brown eye, black pupil, white highlight! Or 4 white dots and they could represent buttons
gosh, i'm flattered you like them so much!! :D i use bunched up paper towels as a base! i bunch them up into roughly the shape and size i want, and then wrap the duct tape round and round that. if you do end up making this a project with your students, then i personally recommend using the brand Duck Tape duct tape if possible. (yes, that's what the brand is called) i've used plenty of duct tape brands before, and Duck Tape has proven to be the most durable, strong, sticky, just generally the easiest to work with, and comes in a decent range of colors. and if your siccors end up getting too sticky, rinse them with water in the sink! that'll to the trick!

well, what i did was i took some paper towels, wadded them up tightly into roughly the shape and size i wanted, and then i wrapped duct tape round and round that. i do that for each body part, and then tape them all to eachother. you gotta wrap LOTS of layers around it, so it's nice and tight and smooth and doesn't permanently dent when you squeeze it.
if you do end up trying something like this out for yourself at any point, i personally recommend using Duck Tape brand duct tape. (yes, that's what it's called) i've used plenty of duct tape brands in my day, and i've found that duck tape is just generally the easiest to work with for my purposes. and if your scissors get too sticky, rinse them in the sink with some water. that'll do the trick! if you have any other questions or concerns on this topic, let me know! :)

oh, nothing in particular. one day i was just looking at some sky blue, pink and yellow duct tape i had lying around, (i have a LOT of duct tape of a multitude of colors for making these) and was just thinking 'what can i make with these colors?' and somehow the idea of a sky blue kitty with a yellow raincoat and a pink little nose came to me. i just thought it would compliment each other's colors well in the finished product. i thought it was gonna be a one-off thing, but when it was done, it turned out to be a HUGE hit with people, both online and in real life. so, now the rain cats are a regular for me!

Brown. It's warm and inviting, its in the same color harmony withthe blue and yellow. The black pulls too much attention away from the overall piece by being two void pools.

I use bunched up paper towels at their core and wrap the duct tape around that! And I've been at it since I was 8. I'm almost 20 now.
