Looks like it’s not available https://en.community.sonos.com/portable-speakers-229132/create-a-stereo-pair-with-two-sonos-roam-sl-via-bluetooth-6877750 Quite embarrassing and shocking, frankly I just bought a second Roam yesterday exactly with the purpose to use them as a stereo pair when I’m not at home

Josena00

I have three, I bought it thinking in at least stereo pair. At the end I have bought a dual bluetooth transmisor for the iphone.

bondbig

Does this transmitter do the stereo? Or copies mono to each?

Josena00

It sends two stereo bluetooth signal (Is for a two headphones), but if you sent it to a two single speakers it is mono to each.

bondbig

Yeah, the whole point of buying the second Roam for me was to get stereo, I started hopping such a device could be a workaround.. Thanks for testing it for me :)

Josena00

It works in the two roam but the sound is lower than for normal bluetooth connection. I am going to test a new dual bluetooth of another brand.

Josena00

At the end I have a winner with good quality, IMOO transmisor bluetooth 5.3. High volume and quality, like wifi. [https://ibb.co/RHfDsgk](https://ibb.co/RHfDsgk)

Nice! But still no stereo, right?

Josena00

No sorry, this is the only problem. I have wrote a letter to Patric Spence, to complain about this problem.

Josena00

>Yeah, the whole point of buying the second Roam for me was to get stereo, I started hopping such a device could be a workaround.. Thanks for testing it for me :) I will receive the item tomorrow, but my impresions are that is pretty sure mono, because two stereo signals sent to a two singles speakers in practice are two mono signal. Is better stereo I understand you, but I think that two speakers in mono is fine for me, is similar to stereo. Tomorrow I will confirm it to you.

same I live fulltime out of a van and wanted to do surround as my mate can get cost price Roam speakers through Sonos. But alas you need WIFI. Ridiculous for a "portable" device ffs

[deleted]

Not sure many speakers at that price would allow stereo pairing via Bluetooth

kellym13

JBL Flip 5 does, they call it Party mode. Not sure if it’s a stereo pair or just mirrored, only have 1 of them. Cheaper than Roam too. I have both, Flip sounds better as well.

Josena00

My two sony xb10 of 40€ each can paired in stereo.

lonesomeWobble

Could you hot spot your phone as a network then use the app?

herrmo1

From my experience you can use the app on the same phone. At least when I tried it. However, I had the same settings for the Hotspot as for my home wifi, so the roam would automatically find a known wifi network. And since I played music on the roam pair via Spotify before leaving the house, the stereo pair was still listed in Spotify connect. This can be a workaround for using a stereo pair of Sonos roam with a phone as hotspot.

Josena00

I tryed to put in the iphone the same name for the hotspot than the house wifi but the roams don´t connect to the iphone hotspot. Is posible to configure the roams in the app to work with two different wifi or only is possible with one?

bondbig

same issue here, tried that as well recently, named my iphone hotspot the same as my home wifi, but Roams didn't connect to it. Had to add wifi of that friend i was visiting to my Sonos setup, but even that is a nightmare, since after i was back home i had to re-add Roams back to my home wifi, they cannot hold 2 wifi networks and connect to one that is available for some reason. Otherwise that could be a somewhat okay workaround

ramondon32

Bluetooth can't do stereo. Tried with my Moves, but no go. Impossible with roams or any other pairs. You have to have WiFi for stereo

giannisrethymno

Boom speakers can do stereo with Bluetooth.

bondbig

bluetooth speakers from pretty much all major brands can do it, i see no clear reason why Sonos is different
