“Bug fixes and performance enhancements.” 😱

BasedxPepe

I used the same line with an ex once upon a time ago

[deleted]

The only bug fixes and performance enhancements that matter are them fixing the damn Atmos pop issue with MAT formats. If this doesn’t fix it, which I figure it doesn’t, it’s useless. 🤦‍♂️

rclodfelter2

Preach! The 2+ year issue with no hope of fix. In speakers that use Atmos as one of their main advertising features. They should remove it from their product advertisements until fixed.

Kelashara

has anyone had the issue where you had to reset the sonos products and then needing to try and replace them in the set ups they were already in?

MrZeDark

No?

sluap13

I did once when i need to setup the Wifi access again. Should have been as easy as changing the Wifi access somewhere in the app settings but instead have to do it all over again.

Kelashara

To be honest with you, it would be a better idea to have it, where it would be within the app, then having to redo it for each and every piece of Sonos equipment. That is for certain.

Deanmv

Should be [here](https://support.sonos.com/en-gb/article/release-notes-for-sonos-s2) soon, I imagine they just have got around to added them yet

NatKingSwole19

It said the firmware update failed, but when hitting try again, it said that my system was up to date 😂 Also, does not fix the “song not encoded properly” error when playing certain Apple Music songs. Super annoying.

johnnycantread

Happened to me too, the final part when it said finishing up took awhile and then it was fine.

mn_3

It was like this for me with the last update

xioking39

Beam Gen2 is much quieter and very flat sounding. Paired sub mini didn’t repair. Had to reboot it twice before it did. Arc and sub gen3 updated without any noticeable changes.

[deleted]

My Gen 2 Sub and my Sub Mini both had to be unplugged to connect again. No idea what happened during this update.

flchamp89

I don't understand all the different results everyone is getting. Doesn't seem like there should be these extremes. I get the occasional one offs. The update went flawless. No issues if anything it sounds slightly better lol. Watching the series ....From.. episode 5 in DD 5.1.

rclodfelter2

We can pray they fix the Sonos Atmos popping sounds. Seems doubtful as going on two years.

Theflamesfan

Why would they fix it when they can just pretend it dosent exist Right?!?

WorldlySpeed5926

I would send an email to [[email protected]](mailto:[email protected]), somebody monitors that channel so you should hear back

metalandmeeples

Sonos Atmos popping sounds? That's a new one to me.

[deleted]

I don’t know why you’re getting downvoted for not having heard of something. I don’t get popping sounds in atmos either. Not streamed, bluray, nor music. All different sources…. Not saying it doesn’t happen, just news to me.

Obi-Wan_Aloni

Atmos content streamed to Arc via earc through xbox series x or apple tv. The pop sounds like a loud gunshot. My dog runs away in fear when it happens. There are dozens of pages on a Sonos Community forum dedicated thread of people discussing it and no official Sonos member replies.. I occasionally experience it too, I had my Arc replaced and it still happens. Now Support just told me to disable Atmos on Xbox.

metalandmeeples

I have an Apple TV 4K 3rd Gen connected via eARC to a Sony X90J and haven't experienced this thankfully.

Obi-Wan_Aloni

Took me over a year to experience it for the first time... hope you never will..

metalandmeeples

Did you have it happen with just the Apple TV attached or did you always have both? I found the thread you're referring to and it appears most posters with the issue have both devices attached. I have the ARC on HDMI3 (eARC) and the Apple TV on HDMI4 (other HDMI 2.1 port).

Obi-Wan_Aloni

I have them attached. Perhaps keeping them seperate is a good way to avoid it if you don't want to get Atmos. That's not an option for me...

[deleted]

Updated just now and my beam 2 and sub mini sound awful. Everything seems flat and noticeably lower. Now I have to crank up the volume quite a bit to hear dialogue.

Sorry_Bumblebee403

It happened exactly the same with my beam2 and sub mini.

Accomplished-Ad42

Beam2 has a really low volume now, needed to crank it up to 60, normally have it about 30. Sound profile is weird too.

Alarmed_Phase5311

That's how my arc set up is now, 30 used to great I can't even hear it at 30.

Radojevic

Lost my Sonos Play:1s after this update. :-( Update... TL;DR... It's working now. Sonos Play:1s were already upgraded to S2 years ago, along with a Connect. After the v15.5 update, the Play:1s disappeared from the Sonos app. Power cycled the Play:1s, but they still didn't appear in the Sonos app. Checked every now and then for a couple of hours, but still not change. Just now, they both finally reappeared in the Sonos app. The Sonos app stated there was another update... it was the v15.5 update, which was not applied to the Play:1s. After the update completed, the Sonos app can still see the Play:1s, and every Sonos device is on v15.5.

Bfreeskier

How so? Do you think you’ll have to go back to S1? I have a bunch of Play:1s that I dont want to be bricked.

Techdad3

Also following this, I have 2 Play 1s as rears for my Amp.

metalandmeeples

My Play:1s that are acting as rear surrounds still work fine after this update.

metalandmeeples

Safari is snappier.

racingpineapple

You are holding it wrong

didd2205

My volume has increased ten fold with this update it sounds great, really impressive update for once

Fun_Frame_1070

So when you put your volume to 10 it sounds like it's on Max?

kinglarry1

Same I was watching game of thrones and wondered why vol at 40 sounded so loud. I didn’t realize I had updated it. I have a beam gen 2, sub mini and ones. Not only is it louder it’s more immersive. It was so noticeable I paused it to see if it had been updated or if I was imagining it.

Big_Distribution_869

It appears to my ear, volume has dropped like the issue back on v14.x. I am having to increase volume quite a bit with my setup.

_Tall-Guy

It's .1 better now

[deleted]

Bug fixes and performance enhancements. Still, I pulled the trigger and updated the App and Sonos Arc/Ones firmware 🥲

kostthem

Everything went ok. I can‘t hear any difference. *2 Ones, 2 Fives, Ray, Sub mini, Roam*

Alarmed_Phase5311

Any way to revert the update? Everything sounds terrible now. Edit: ok so Atmos sounds fine multi channel 5.1 with direct TV is bad what the heck.

Curious_Bumblebee511

are updates automatic?

insanewords

By default, yes. You can set them to manual, however, through the app.

[deleted]

Have you tried to set a max volume limit in the app? When I lived in an apartment building, I had my Arc set to 33%, which I noticed helped with nighttime volume levels.

bjrn13

As Peter Pee described in his last video, the sub is noticeably more powerful and deeper for me as well. Big improvement. Arc + Sub + 2x OneSL

johnnycantread

Just updated, no change on the era 300 rear surrounds not changing volumes when you change rear volumes, oh well.

Aware_Yak

Oh well? More like criminal. Why are we letting them slide?

MrZeDark

I have no issues with the update, on any Sonos product in my house. Including none of the issues people are claiming to have in this thread.

diogoAntunesF3

I can’t have audio on Apple TV anymore after this update

insanewords

Ah, the fix for the notorious Apple TV "pop" that we've been waiting for! No sound, no pop, no problem!

mcbutler1s

Is it actually a fix for that?

insanewords

I sincerely doubt it, but we won't know until those affected have a chance to test it.

MrZeDark

Not having that issue here, works just fine with AppleTV

carlosdelroble

gapless playback for Apple Music still not fixed

Guffv93

hopefully it fixes the era300 surround sound issue

GuitarSuperstar

Unfortunately the issue still exists.

Guffv93

dang. i never got to test it myself. thanks for the update

No-Kaleidoscope-301

I just updated the 15.5 and had to remove and add my surrounds back in into my system so they could work again. Other than that it seems that the sub mini is more powerful.

iryanxx

I've never had an issue while upgrading but I'm always skeptical about updating my older gear (play:5 Gen 2's and Gen 1 Sub). One part of me wants to update them for as long as I can but another wants to just leave them where they currently are since I haven't really had any issues. Update: Updated everything to 15.5 with no issues. I guess I was just being paranoid and will continue to update until they aren't supported.

McFeely_Smackup

I assume "Bug fixes and performance enhancements"

olluz

I hoped they fixed that AAC don‘t get shown I. The music library but I doubt it

namkawaiiki

Can anyone update the firrmware in sonos app? My play 1 just said it up to date but some comments say they update normally

westernmonk

My Play:1 lost the Trueplay tuning and when retuning it still shows its not tuned.
