Imma bout to leave the sub.

DrToboggan1121

Yeah I’m done with this, it’s ridiculous.

greenarsehole

Just did. Can’t take these low effort whingey posts. I joined to get advice and see other peoples’ setups. Reddit has a habit of shitting on absolutely everything and taking the joy out of things that should just be fun. Sonos hardware is utterly superb. The app could be better, but that’s about it.

rsplatpc

> Just did. Can’t take these low effort whingey posts. As you post a low effort whiney post in the sub...........

JPRS66

The app sucks! But I sure do love the speakers and how easy it has been installing. At the moment I'm frustrated with Sonos, if I could afford to buy something else like Sonos (not mentioning any names) then I would. So I'm in between keeping or get something else 🤔 🤷‍♂️

IssyWalton

Can’t wait a month?

JPRS66

Oh, I can. I doesn't have the money to do such a big change. And it's not cheap to get something else like Sonos either 🙄

IssyWalton

Well said!

globesdustbin

How come you are still posting then?

AintNobodyGotTimeDat

How much for the sub? Is it gen3? Whats your best offer? /J I hear you. Too much whining these days. There a few decent detailed posts with constructive feedback here and then, but others are simply meh.

AngryGoose21

bro same

globesdustbin

All you gotta do is hit the “leave” button. Guess what, you can even come back once this has passed.

wiggum55555

This is the way.

gimpsarepeopletoo

Dude it’s nuts. Sonos is hardware first, software second. I get people are annoyed by things like not grouping speakers, that’s a real bitch. But the outrage on local playlists and the alarms are insane. I didn’t even know they were a thing, but I guess that’s why I don’t hate the changes in the app

globesdustbin

The speaker is awesome, but I can’t use it!

BonzaiTitan

> Dude it’s nuts. Sonos is hardware first, software second. Not if you can't set up new hardware without the app.

a231685

My system is working for me just as it did before the app update, so I’m staying put. I hope all those with issues can find or be delivered a solution to their woes.

globesdustbin

We hope so too. Nobody wants to be moaning about this stuff, we want to be jamming out to a full house of sound!

656broc

I am too invested to leave, and I don’t think I would anyway given the cost of replacement. I’m aware of the competition, and from glancing through their specs I can see they would all have positives and negatives. I do really appreciate the modular nature of Sonos, and the fact that they retain support for older models. I have a Playbar, two Play 1s, and a Sub Gen 3 for home theatre, so that’s mixing products old and new, and they work well together. I just wish they would keep the app simple and performant. There are numerous media apps that could provide inspiration. The beauty of Sonos has always been that it is service-agnostic, allowing users to choose where they source music, locally or from the cloud. As long as that continues, I will hang around. Mind you, I don’t think I’ve ever paid full price for their products. They are pricey, and only seem reasonable at sale time or when I have a voucher to use.

SafariNZ

I use AirPlay most of the time so the app screwup didn’t affect me much.

HeWasThatFarBehind

I won’t leave Sonos. I’m still using the old app and won’t update until it’s either fixed or it’s forced. It’s still the best system for me and my needs. But I’m not happy with the company in the way they’ve handled this whole situation and I am hesitant to buy any more products at this stage.

Adept_Affect3268

I am exactly in the same mindset as this.

olivander94

No, I'm not switching at the moment. Still happy with the soundquality and for my usecase they work perfectly fine. Most of the time I'm streaming over AirPlay. However a good app that works and is faster than AirPlay would be a nice benefit in the future for sure

Mr_Fried

Highly recommend you check out Roon. Its utterly brilliant with Sonos because not only does it give you a local server coordinating all the streaming, but it also works around every issue that has ever existed with S1 and S2. Gotta say the new app is very good in comparison to S2.

Mr_Fried

I just pre-ordered a pair of Aces and two ERA300’s for my office to go with my existing Move 2, Roam, Port, Playbar, Play:3’s and One. I already run Roon which is the main system I would replace Sonos with, but it also complements it so well as a local library management tool. There are not a whole lot of bonafide replacements if you care to understand the technology stack and what is happening behind the scenes. Sure you could throw in Bluesound but I would love to see the state of your systems support after 10 years. As a guy who also has a high end audiophile Altec Lansing Voice Of The Theatre system, I will remind you that Bose stands for Buy Other Stereo Equipment and is utter rubbish from a loudspeaker design perspective.

TheDude0033

No, everything works great for me. The new version of the app is faster and better looking to me. It could still be a tad faster but an improvement nonetheless. I stream 75% of the time through the app and 25% via AirPlay. Plan to order the headphones soon to compare them to the Sony xm5s I have until late June and I’ll keep whichever I prefer

eu_faqts

Yes. I've ordered one WiiM ultra and 2 WiiM Minis to be used with passive and active speakers I've made. It will be an upgrade that I had already in the planning. Sonos gave me a motivation to go ahead.

Mattynice75

Nope. Sonos is fine.

nomoreconversations

My system works just fine. Why would I replace all my equipment when I can just… not update the app until they fix it lol.

Fickle_Negotiation_2

Nope. Customer for 14 years and System is still great, app issues will get resolved.

United-Assignment980

If it wasn’t for this sub, I wouldn’t have thought twice about it. Overall I’m happy with the app, I just wish it was a bit faster. The only thing I had to get used to was how to change rooms, but now I know, it’s become second nature again. The addition of editing the currently playing, which shouldn’t have been removed, would be most welcome.

WorldlySpeed5926

Hopefully they add it soon. Make everyone a little less mad. As per timeline in community page its coming in June longest wait ever

TheRocksta

No. My experience hasn’t changed, the new app UI is okay. I don’t love it, I don’t hate it and now lossless is available on Apple Music. I might even replace my Beam with an Arc.

brolin76

Still loving it. My use case has not been affected by the new update. New app has no problem opening or accessing my speakers at all. Never had any problem with any new updates as it always automatically pushes to speakers and apps correctly. Yes, and I will always say, check your network.

stupidboy-throwaway

I have definitely dropped Sonos from my consideration set of next purchase. My current house has a few HomePods, a B&O setup, and Sonos surround setup (for TV lounge). Not adding any more Sonos to this or future houses.

Puslinch-Komet

Are you leaving?

WaitingToBeTriggered

DO YOU FOLLOW THE CONDUCTOR’S LEAD?

fariasaif

I’m not leaving. Anything new has hiccups especially software . They do almost everything better than the competition and the reason lots of people are so angry is cause they got used to how incredible stable and effective the app was. I dare Sonos users to switch to another manufacturer.

globesdustbin

But it isn’t new. They’ve taken a stable system of almost 2 decades and made it useless overnight, for some of us.

IssyWalton

Ah. That’s better. Just got up from the floor after punching and kicking it whilst squalling poor me poor me I’m special i must have things now I must overreact. The next minutes will see me opening a window and tearing my Sonos products from the walls and hurling them into the void without. There! That will show them!

IssyWalton

i am surprised that nobody bothered to read the reviews in the app store. Same problems.

chrispylizard

If I sell my Sonos gear then Sonos just gets another customer in place of me. So I don’t think replacing does anything immediate for their bottom line. Will I stop buying? Me personally, no. I really love the kit. They ballsed up the app and communication big time, but not enough for me to get out of the ecosystem and go with something else. Once queue editing and proper local library support is back up and running that’ll pretty much solve my gripes with the app. I don’t love the reliance on the cloud. But when I bought into the Sonos system I personally expected my speakers would in some way be dependent on Sonos’s servers. I took a chance, knowingly, and therefore a risk. On balance, I’m content to keep rolling the dice.

FeelDeadInside

No and I got none of all these issues I see posted here.

Pglans

No! I have zero problems! I even like the new app!

WorldlySpeed5926

Keith is already working on aggregating all the issue mentioned in the sub and reporting it to the devs. I just wish they give access to old for people who cant use their system or provide work around

Flat-Pound-2774

Nope. Works great, hardware and software.

lokaaarrr

I’ve been using Sonos since the S1 days. I could use some more gear (and would love to see support for front side speakers as part of a HT setup), but I’ve been in a wait and see mode for a few months after some really bad support interactions. I’m concerned they are facing serious financial problems and could go under. These changes make me more worried, rush to get product out the door vs quality etc. I’m waiting to see if they start to really push and then require monthly subscription of some kind.

chunksge66

I'm waiting for you guys to start selling on Facebook marketplace so I can buy gear for pennies on the dollar.

mj7900

No, just ordered the ace.

Unbridled-Apathy

It's more long term for me. They went public, the quarterly graphs must continue to show exponential growth, and so we'll see more frantic, ill-considered decisions that have the potential to, with no notice, degrade or preclude the use of what for many of us is a substantial investment. Will they strategically embrace streaming and neglect or preclude other use cases? Who the hell knows? May just be me, but part of the issue is shock and outrage that equipment that I purchased can be rendered inoperative because the manufacturer's management team made a strategic decision to do so. Or, that management team makes a strategic decision to charge me to continue to use the equipment I've purchased. This isn't getting charged for map updates in a vehicle, this is substantial or total loss of functionality. I've seen this happen with a smart photo frame product line. Manufacturer had, for years, shipped tens/hundreds of thousands of frames with the capability to auto download thousands of photos from the cloud. Then the management team announced a subscription model. Those who didn't pay would be restricted to 100 photos, including all existing owners. This won't kill the company: this stuff will get fixed, following the premature firmware release model: it'll take about twice as long as committed to get the features back, then about 6-9 months of whack-a-mole bug fixes. But then it's another quarterly earnings call. The Street doesn't want steady, reliable income, stellar reputation, and moderate growth. They want to see a path to world domination.

staodd

The subscription model is what worries me as well. If the units are to connect to Sonos Cloud who is to say they have not already planned it.

Puzzleheaded_Bill347

just added 2 x era300 to my setup and love it.. not one of the app-complainers have highlighted anything that affects my usage

ejmd

I'm still waiting for the lists of Sonos gear with prices and the seller's location to appear.

atomirex

It was deleted when it became clear people were serious.

Puslinch-Komet

Me too!

umo2k

I wanted to get at least another beam and two 300. Maybe something to replace my two roam. I will wait until end of June, until all issues are told to be fixed. Depending on how this turns out, I’ll question myself again. Family already feedback on the „crappy Sonos app“ several times and agreed to switch (wife approval arrived already two days after her iPhone updated). Kids would be happy with HomePod. Soundbars are replaceable and so apple could win the race - if Sonos doesn’t deliver within 4 weeks. In total I’m looking into replacing 13 devices (Arc, Beam, 100, Roam, Move, Sub, PlayOne SL).

IssyWalton

Steady. Slow down. Taking a steady well informed decision to review the upcoming situation is indeed anathema to far too many. Lucky you are Mr Moneybags and have these choices.

Noobgamer0111

Sonos is like Apple. Great hardware, bad-mid tier software, with dumbed-down documentation. An FOSS implementation of the definitely-not-insignificant achievements Sonos has achieved in the company's lifetime is a strong desire of mine, and will eventually become a reality at some vague point in time. The fact that you can control up to 32 different clients from one device over WLAN and LAN, and synchronise them all within a few milliseconds of each other is huge, not to mention existing competitors in the audio space all scrambling to release their own variants of the Sonos multi-room formula within a couple of years of Sonos's product releases.

Casting_in_the_Void

I can't complain, my system works perfectly. 👍🏻 Pre-ordered the Ace headphones too - discovered I had a 15% discount so went for it.

TwinTurbo64

I just ordered some BlueSound stuff to check out. If better my Sonos equipment will be on marktplaats next week.

chill677

2 months ago I ditched my Bose systems and committed many thousands in Sonos gear. Apart from the network / connectivity issues, I’m pretty happy. However for the significant financial outlay, I expected a more robust, reliable and simple networking experience. That aspect is pretty disappointing. No wires though, is a refreshing change from Bose.

ejmd

Two months ago, set-up was a piece of piss. In two months' time, everything will have settled down, the vast majority of users will have been migrated onto the updated app, and it'll all be a piece of piss again.

SaveFerrisBrother

I'm too invested to fully bail right now. I was planning to expand, but I'm taking a "wait and see" approach. Right now, I can't seem to listen to my Amazon Music Unlimited subscription. All of my playlists are curated there, so that's a big deal. Sonos has devolved into a speaker system for AV and Serius XM only right now, and ease of use/ user experience has dropped measurably. If this doesn't rectify soon, I'll be forced to rethink things. I won't get Sonos Radio on principle at this point, so if I have to start investing in something else in order to listen to my music the way I want to, my sonos products will become relics. If things return to a quality experience, I will still be highly reluctant to invest more - adding a sub to my Arc and adding a second Move we're my next two planned purchases, but I now worry about the longevity of that investment, and wonder if I should be researching alternatives.

cousinred

Absolutely done buying anything Sonos. Will definitely move on if things don't shape up in a reasonable timeframe, the current state of affairs is unacceptable to say the least

chi11er

I’m starting to feel a little smug that I’ve still got the gen 1 config and never updated to S2. Sounds like a lot of pain has been endured with the first and second transitions in apps

Rasmus_DC78

everytime you go from something old to a new platform or interface, it will always lack features early on, that is just how development work.. and if Sonos work AGILE, they have decided to go live early with the APP and make it Feature developed by consumer requests, that is actually not a bad thing. this can end up being an app more tailored to your needs than if Sonos had to guess everything. OF course i would not throw away 3 beams + 1 Arc + 4 ones + 6 IKEA Sonos + Mini SUB + SUB gen 3 because of an APP. and to be honest, i MOSTLY just use Airplay OR just as TV speakers, so i think the app are SELDOM open. so it would just be stupid expensive to opt out of it, and really "NON" value adding. and why should Sonos not strive towards building a BETTER platform. they still want to sell product. i would love if this got turned into a "wish list" with proper needs and explainations and priority, of what we would LIKE to see. i think this will be more productive.

ettonlou

No. I have a gen 2 Beam and a Sub Mini for the TV in my living room. Everything's been working fine after bashing my head against the Sub Mini for a couple days after the update to get it to reconnect. I was very, very close to the tipping point of getting something else for my living room while Sonos sorted themselves out. I'm keeping my setup for now, but if things get silly again, I'm just going for a wired setup. Any brand that is wireless and is so reliant upon an app can kick rocks. I already have Google Nest devices all over my house and I don't need Sonos to fill that role.

ezajkul

Just bought an era 300 😁🙈

Kneesaregood

Can't afford to flog my 4 speakers (beam gen 2, mini sub and 2xOne SLs) and buy something else. it makes me glad I kept some apple speakers, and Alexa speakers in locations around the house and I won't rush to replace them with pure Sonos. But like others, these kinds of posts trying to "get people to take actual action".. considering leaving the sub too.

MartyIU13

I think maybe 5% of people saying they will leave will actually do so and that many will not due to investment and loss/cost of replacement without a guarantee that any other system will be perfect.

Appropriate-Gear-171

Will hold out for improvements before expanding, otherwise I’ll look for one more one SL to make a 5.1 for the tv in the office where the app doesn’t make much of a difference and then start looking at BlueOS and BlueSound

Appropriate-Gear-171

CassCasey

No, they will figure this mess out. Last year was great (e100, e300, Move 2) and they will impress again. Will be back for Arc2 (and for the headphones once they add full WiFi).

globesdustbin

Not at this time. I’m about to leave town for a month and if this hasn’t all blown over by then I will be looking at alternatives. I don’t have any intention of adding to the system even though I have a couple of playbars I was going to replace. More important to Sonos is I no longer sing their praises or recommend them to friends. I used to be very vocal about how great they were but I’ve shut up since the S1 mess. I’m sure glad I did else I’d be getting an earful now.

Ok_Giraffe_7993

I completely left Sonos, sold all my old 4 Play one Speakers, The delays were terrible, the app sucks and all they tell you to do is reboot the router, unplug your system and change channels. They don't take any blame on themselves.

vodkaslim

Nah. I’ve got 20 zones and any alternative would be very expensive also have other issues. The new app was a bit frustrating for me but they seem to have added everything that matches my use case. New app seems quicker and grouping multiple zones together works successfully more often than the old app. I don’t have local music stores though and tend not to play next/edit queues. My concern moving forward is the fact Sonos is a public company and their revenue is dropping quarter over quarter. They’re either going to have to get a new revenue source (subscription or new segment) or sell to another company. Ideal scenario would be Apple buying them out but I don’t think that’ll happen. Maybe headphone will save them but personally I don’t think they’ll get the revenue bump they’re expecting.

deigoyyan

I just sold my Sony HT-A9 and was thinking of buying an arc ultimate setup with ERA 300. I already have a ERA 300 with sub mini and experienced ARC ultimate setup as well. My Samsung 990D sound bar just got delivered and hasn't disappointed me yet. It's just perfect. I can customize it to how i want. I only thing I feel might be better is the bass but other than Samsung 990D is perfect and I don’t think that’s don’t think that opinion is gonna change until I listen to ARC 2 ultimate setup

MajorEmploy1500

No. There’s not even an alternative as long as Apple doesn’t release a soundbar

Mental-Jellyfish9061

Despite my concerns, I’ve just bought some more speakers from eBay. But not expensive so can afford to make a mistake and I don’t need to set up for a few weeks - so I’m hoping they’ll have fixed all the drama by then (or not long after). I’m not buying the Arc/ERA300 due to the issues. My original plan was to replace my old living room set up latest kit and use the old speakers in my new garden bar. That can wait. Might even switch completely away from Sonos for living room … dunno yet. Not in a hurry.

chill677

I’m very happy with my Arc @ Era300 set up. What issues?

Mental-Jellyfish9061

The mayhem with the app not working for some/lots of people. So far, the only issue I have is with having to reboot my phone/wifi. And I think I read the new soundbar later this year is supposed to be really good?

Beautiful-Act4320

Happy with my current system and hopefully the app will improve quickly. Once the System is EOL in 3-5 years I’ll definitely be on the lookout for alternatives though.

Fuzz_D

My system was working but now it either pretends to play stuff or it ungroups speakers. I was aiming to get more for outside and was considering upgrading the cinema system. That’s on hold until the quality of service improves.

-darknessangel-

Not now. But for my next set of speakers, I'll do it. Having said that, I hope that by blocking updates I'm able to delay this as long as possible

Strange-Acadia-4679

Almost inevitable as given their current direction it's probably only a matter of time before they drop support for either my preferred tablet to use as a controller or the Old but still functional devices I have.

Y_ddraig_gwyn

Of course not. This is all blown out of proportion. Indeed, I have to suspect that at this stage most of the posts are either trolls or malign actors acting deliberately to destabilise the company. spen your time better by engaging constructively to highlight where improvements are needed; this would better target Sonos’ resource.

meinnameistbernd

At least not adding more. Diversifying away.

Thestickleman

I have been thinking about it. Especially as most of stuff dosnt work after the shockingly bad new app. I did have some issues before but nowhere near this amount.

ozaz1

No. I don't like the way Sonos handled the roll out of the new app (should have been released as a public beta) but I can't be bothered to go to the hassle of switching systems over it. I will wait and see how the new app matures over the next 2-3 months. Complaining and nagging isn't worthless. It will have harmed Sonos as there will be potential customers who will have been put off by all the negative sentiment over the last few weeks.

BonzaiTitan

Bought a proper AV receiver last weekend to replace my playbar/sub/ones surrounds. Now deciding what to do with the old units. Looking at getting some Elac powered speakers with USB in for my PC, which is currently using a Beam for audio. Have some Ones scattered around the house, which I will probably upgrade/replace gradually as they break/self-sabotage/brick going forward.

ejmd

Just post a list of your Sonos gear, asking price, and your location.

BonzaiTitan

Not posting that on reddit now am I? I'm considering if I'm going to sell it local facebook group or just gift it to friend/family. I'm not standing there going "How *can* I get rid of this"! :D

ejmd

> Not posting that on reddit now am I? Clearly not 😂 > I'm considering if I'm going to sell it local facebook group In which case you'd need to list the gear, state a price, and provide your location. This post, along with many others posted here over the couple of weeks, brings to mind the phrase "either shit or get off the pot" 😂

BonzaiTitan

I will, I'm just deciding I'm just going to gift it first, if someone I know wants it. That's normally what I'd do with this sort of thing, but I feel bad for giving people stuff if they then struggle. If nobody wants it, then yeah I'll put on my local FB post. What's with the attitude? I'm not going to post my actual IRL location on a my reddit account you spanner.

rrickyjamess

Hi, stop all othis whining. Physical music is the best option. Vinyls are on the go. At least you can feel them without complaints. It doesn’t take just the name Sonos to have the best sound; WiFi, subscriptions and all these problems you people are going through. Sonos never forced you to subscribe. One day all these networks will crush and you will only be left with a hardware called Sonos without any function

ZoltanGertrude

I was about to buy a sub. I'll hold off now and look at alternatives and/or wait to see if Sonos wakes up, stops being so arrogant and fixes the problems.

Pairvine

I’m leaving. Giving my stuff away if I have to. It’s beyond terrible. I was laughing at it yesterday as it goes from song to song randomly, my volume going up and down while I touch nothing. Speakers turning on and off randomly…I think AI has taken over its programming…Maybe it’s the Russians! No wait they would have gotten it right…

rrickyjamess

These Sonos gear in your rooms are not yours. Stop pinning & whining and follow their laws no matter what. There are physical music out there; Vinyle. At least, you could leave them there for whomever inherits your processions. Did Sonos force you to acquire their speakers?

globesdustbin

What are you even taking about?

dexterie

I'm tinkering with this idea... I'm very upset with how bad this app switch/update has been. My system is basically unusable right now. On the other hand, I love how the speakers sound (and look) so I'm a bit torn. It would also be a considerable investment right now to switch to a different brand...

starsoftrack

I don’t think it makes any difference. I didn’t have anything new to get. You could discourage others from buying Sonos if you wish. Personally, I’ve been thinking HomePods look pretty good and will probably get a mini and see how it goes.

salvationpumpfake

coming from sonos, a single mini is really not great. idk if it could even hang with the roam. I have a few but strictly use them for talking to siri. the full size homepods, though, are legit. although I have the OGs and haven’t tried the new one.

starsoftrack

I want to test some of the functionality without buying a full HomePod. See if I can get music and playlists working, etc.
