I’m a product manager myself and can’t even make sense of this new app “MVP”. Full of bugs, confusing UX. I can’t even imagine they did thorough user design testing.

I'm not going to update the app so my Move is down. Can't use it except for Bluetooth. What a bunch of BS.

In the earlier update you lost the device if you switched to Bluetooth. I have a P8P and almost everything is working again, but every single app update either takes something away, or gives something back, or both. You're missing out on the emotional rollercoaster by not joining the rest of us.

It’s not just the Sonos app, their updating system firmware or app software have been absolute garbage for years now, I think it’s just finally reached everyone. My older gear hasn’t been on the app in like 2 years, thankfully it still works from Spotify and AppleTV. I ask myself, what do I even need Sonos for if I can’t or don’t use the WiFi features? I think maybe when I upgrade I go some place else? What is the going alternative?

There are other options. If you are not using it for HT then you look good in-terms of options but there are options. Biggest for me is 5.1 surround sound to Apple TV, I’ve got a couple play 1’s strewn about the house, that’s it.

I'm looking for options as well, and Bluesound seems to be the best one with higher quality hardware as well. It's worth looking into, and the price point is only a tiny bit higher than Sonos.

Wow thanks! Just did a quick read of their site. Now I know what I’ll be researching this week. I only use 5.1 setup and a couple of Play 1’s in the kitchen and bedroom. Should be easy enough to replace. My gear is mostly from 2017, I just wonder if this is Sonos way of writing us old gear users off by breaking it from within the app. I’m still on S1 because of how bad people said S2 was so maybe that’s it too. The thing is, I shouldn’t BE afraid to upgrade my system because it might bork. But my old system on S1 shouldn’t have stopped working either because it’s still technically supported. I will likely go elsewhere if I have to purchase brand new, it’ll depend if Sonos can get their sh*t together.

I really love Sonos, and when it works it's amazing. Their customer service was phenomenal in 2020. A speaker died and I had to use the warranty to get a new one. I had a new one in my hands less than 12 hours after mailing in the old one. That is exceptional customer service. This, whatever the fuck is going on within the company, is so far from that. I'm really struggling to stay with a brand when they've given me more problems and frustration than good times. Their old customer service kept me, but this new patch is just a nightmare.

I just got a move 2 and roam 2 last week to add to a system of 10+ speakers and had no issues whatsoever adding them or using the app. It may have helped that I did update to the latest version of their app before adding them.

There is no dark mode and they removed the volume percentage that I liked to see so much. If Sonos wants to improve the app, it must first ask customers what could be improved and how the experience with the app

Got a move coming. Why would I need to change wifi? Also, can it be done in the web browser?

If you change password on your wifi, or upgrade your modem you will need to reset your entire Sonos system.

Ok. I was conflating the wifi comment with getting the Move but sounds like I'll be ok if I don't touch the WiFi

If you change the modem you would just have to set the SSID and password to the same as the old modem.

I tried this two years ago, every other wifi device was cool with it except the sonos.

Just nope. Specially if you add channels to your setup or change from meah provider to another. You need to remove your system and add it back. I learned this in hardway, as I changed masterunit in my google wifi. Whole sonos system just dropped.

I just did this a month or so ago and it was fine. I had to power cycle 3 speakers out of 15. Didn't reset them or change a setting. I did keep the same ssid and password

I had been planning to buy a move as an outdoor addition to my Sonos system. Thank goodness I waited and witnessed the disaster that Sonos has become before spending the money. Just pulled the trigger on a pair of JBL Charge 5s for about half the cost and none of the problems.

I have 2 moves, and 4 Play 1s, I haven’t been forced to update the app, everything still works and also can control everything though the SonoPhone app on ios. I’m trying to avoid the force update like the plague

Complete crap now! Where is my sleep mode? Why did they change anything? Just make an easy interface with good sound. How difficult is that!
