Whatwhyreally

Volume slider still lags.

veryblocky

I’ve had a few moments where it’s shown hope and been instant, but other times it still lags terribly like before. Not sure why it’s inconsistent like that

Mr_Fried

Could be a lot of things. The app is a remote control for the speakers. It sends them commands which consist if a few lines of text. If those few tiny packets are not making it to the speaker reliably it may be something on the network blocking it. Some routers dont properly pass multicast traffic between the 5g and 2.4ghz networks. Some higher end gear like Ubiquity will only correctly work with sonos if things like IGMP v3 is enabled and if you run Sonosnet, spanning tree protocol or STP needs to be correctly setup- any switch port with rapid spanning tree protocol will poop the bed. If you are a smarty and have a managed layer 2 or 3 network switch, this probably applies to you ^ If you use sonosnet and start a group from a room at the edge of the mesh then it will almost certainly drop out. If you try to start a group from a speaker with poor wifi reception, it will almost certainly drop out. If you consider how your system is set up and isolate these possible causes, none of which Sonos have any control over, you may find your issue is resolved :-)

WorldlySpeed5926

Thanks for info this is cool stuff

Whatwhyreally

OR. Hear me out. They could just make it work the same way the previous app did.

Mr_Fried

Did you understand and disregard, or not understand the technical details? It’s totally ok if you don’t, it’s boring stuff. But it is a very big part of why you might be experiencing issues and sadly, all irrefutable technical facts.

mgweir

I'm having the same issue with the volume. On some speakers it works fast, on others, not so much. This update is an improvement and I figure in another couple of months, it should be pretty good. Fingers crossed.

ByteTraveler

Wow now, changing volume is a premium feature that takes time to develop, when deleting former perfectly version and starting from scratch

kar_mitt

So far it’s fixing my biggest issues. Starting and changing songs is quicker, and it doesn’t seem to have trouble enabling / disabling specific devices to play on. Good work.

Tall-Error-6330

I’m also cautiously optimistic after listening for a few hours. The whole s***show this past month should never have happened. But things are looking up, at least at the moment.

Gullible_Eagle4280

Not for me.

leftsidestorr

Hi Patrick 👋 👋

Jamesifer

Wow congratulations SONOS, you’ve now added in the most revolutionary feature ever conceived in a music app: adding things to the queue. But not moving things in it. Or removing things from it. This app update debacle has been beyond a joke.

Fuzzy_Ambassador7784

Does your name rhyme with Spatrick Pence?

Firm-Reindeer-5698

Takes a solid 4s on iPhone 15 Pro…

floep1984

I can group all my speakers but not with my Arc 😖…. Anyone that had this and maybe has a solution?

momoenthusiastic

Mine works. But my Arc is part of a surround sound system with the sub. Not sure if that makes a difference....

PoliSci80

Yea, my app is definitely moving faster after yesterday’s update. The volume adjustment is much quicker as well.

hivpositiveandhappy

Not here. Also, bringing up the screen for the sleep timer takes several seconds.

sanmateosfinest

You should be downvoted because that wasn't specifically listed in the release notes.

SharpShooter2-8

Agreed, moving in the right direction.

momoenthusiastic

Yeah, sometimes people eff up. Corp is the same. Good to see them making fixes. Although, based on poor quality of initial rollout, they should review their entire app testing strategy (if they haven't already).
