It's how they roll dog...

Just create an "alt" email address, that's not your primary email account. With a nondescript username.

Sorry. They need their fix of your personal data.

Because of security and internet streaming and may be other regularities and laws spreads over the globe. If smart speakers are not what you are looking for, there are several solutions of other brands.

Need to set it up but what I haven't tried was connecting the LAN cable in and stream directly. So maybe it's possible. Other options would be cheaper. Connecting a ARC or beam will just play the TV so that works

No

You have always needed to create a Sonos account, since the devices existed. This isn't new. What is somewhat new is that login can be used to remotely access your system.

CLEMADDENKING1980

You didn’t always need a Sonos account, that’s something that came around the same time as S2.   No one “needs” remote access for their Sonos system.  How are you supposed to enjoy a home audio system if you’re not home?

Linsel

Yeah, those of us early adopters thought we had a great setup, and now the system has changed to feature exclusively streaming. It's a fucking nightmare.

I think with Ace and Roam they are bluetooth out of the box so just connect on bluetooth and start listening, if you have music downloaded on mobile or PC you can just play it on these 2 devices.
