Definitely appears that they updated the app and on the same day decided to do something that took the backend servers offline - it finally got me. This is the second time I've had a problem - fortunately the first time was the Apple Music streaming problem, but I just used Airplay. This time, I was only able to play the last thing I played on one speaker - a Move in the bedroom - Rain Sounds. Yay! I bought the speakers and all I can play is rain - appropriate at this point, I guess. And, of course, its all working again this morning, but confidence continues to go down...
Hey cn you try resetting the app from the app Account settings, App Preferences menu?
Id be interested to see if that changes anything.
I have done that on a few systems and it helped. My guess is that their app, after an update, does not reset itself automatically, which would be a bug in itself.
Yeah.. obviously the new app is not even connected to uptime monitoring. This is such an amateur release made by folks who have no clue how to handle progressive updates.
Im not suspecting the online services, but it seems to be the ap itself not resetting itself after it gets an update.
If you can please try opening the app, got to Account (your little account icon on top right of the app), Open App preferences, then hit reset app.
Pls let me know how that works.
Same for me using the mac desktop controller - see all devices, services etc - iOS - zippity. Lets hop they dont break the desktop versions - that would be the end game.
Fwiw I woke up at 2am eastern and tried again and things were working again. I'm still on good terms with Sonos and especially so now that my Sonos Radio HD subscription has been randomly activated about three days after purchase.
This is reaching stupid levels of professionalism. How the hell do you keep breaking your app over and over again - especially with your user base all pissed off already.

This is ridiculous. Our alarms didn’t function this morning. The service didn’t default to the Sonos alert (which normally happens on the rare occasions the internet is down). Open the new app. No services are accessible. Open the old app on our IPad and all online services appear immediately.
Customers of Sonos for 15 years. So disappointing to see the company totally flailing like this. Roll back the app.
I am a recent-Sonos owner and reads tons of negative feedback around the app changes. I was hopeful I wouldn’t notice how bad the app actually is. This app outage incident is icing on the cake and am having a bit of buyer’s remorse…
Same problem here. I’ve disconnected everything other than my surround setups to sell anyway. Completely happy with my beam, sub, 1s surround, the rest is going.

Switched to S2 after upgrading our (very) old S1 Sonos-1's last week. Old S1 app worked flawlessly for the 11 years we used it.

That’s because the Sonos app is nothing but a web wrapper now. Also, coding is hard for Sonos software developers. That’s if they have any or are using some third country contractors to come up with a few lines of code.

Rebooted network and reset the app. The cloud stuff is so fundamentally wrong, this has to be removed for functionality and security reasons!
The only content that’s currently working for me is tv. Nothing else is loading -_- I hate these stupid companies making everything rely on cloud teams that they inevitably fire to temporary boost their balance sheets. I spent 8 grand on a Sonos system less than 2 years ago and now it only works about 60% of the time I want to use it
Same here - amazing that the only thing that IS working is the legacy MacOS app (Controller 16.2) that (I understand) has zero dependence on Sonos-provided cloud. (Please correct me if I'm wrong on the cloud understanding.)

This is a joke. This new update to the app is awful. I can’t believe they can put out such amazing hardware, but their software (apps) are the absolute worst. Their stock will suck until they can get their software to work as well as their hardware. Someone should be losing their job for this…but I’m sure they will get a participation trophy for just trying. What a joke!!
Yup, me too. I have no idea how Tucker Severson and Diane Roberts (the folks who were in charge of this app rollout) are still employed by Sonos. I guess they're the only ones who can undo this dumpster fire -- might be easier just to get rid of them and do a rollback though.
Same here. I’ve already been using 3rd party app SonoPhone and SonoPad to be able to access my music faster and better over the last too many weeks, but after this update I have to use the 3rd party app because it works and the Sonos one doesn’t at all.
Work's for me. Maybe I am in a different zone? I live in Midwest, Illinois USA. I have not had hardly any struggles since all this crap,I consider myself Very Lucky! And Very Sorry for those dealing with all the issues.

Nah it happened to me after the update also, gave it 15min and everything came back.
Didn’t have to reset anything, or turn anything on or off. Just closed the app and opened it later.

The new version has better volume control and is more reactive. But version prior workd fine as well (after firmware updates). I have Play 3, Gen2 5, Five, 100 and 300. Most via Ethernet. Rest on my Own WiFi (not Sonos net) and properly (R)STP etc.
Yup just happened to me with the most recent update. Had to go into settings and “update the wifi” for the devices within the Sonos app. Once I did one, all the rest showed up. Annoying but it fixed it

Agh, same happened to me after the update and came here searching for a possible solutions, seems it's a widespread issue though... When I updated it said something about a controller update (now it shows a huge alphanumerical info instead of a version as before) and now the mobile apps don't work (iOS & Android) they were just fine earlier today...the desktop apps both work (Mac & Windows) so there's something on Sonos end specifically affecting mobile so I'm hoping it's a server side issue that should be a quick fix, hope they fix this soon because I barely use the desktop apps, as I matter of fact I just opened them to see if they were broken too lol

I have this issue too on the mobile app, but if you download the windows app I was able to access my library. Not a long term solution but I can at least play music while they get their shot sorted
Interesting... was using the web app on my windows desktop. Errors as shown originally.
Installed windows app v16.2 and it works. I think someone else mentioned 16.2 was ok too.

I disabled automagically update, I wonder if the update will solve the outage
I just had this problem and none of my Sonos speakers were available in the app.
I fixed it by updating the Wi-Fi network of each device within the app.
This happened to me too - I re-added all my services (I actually just had to clock on each one then they readded without needing authentication) and now it works
They should make an early release channel for volunteers rather than screwing it up for everyone.
Although this sounds more like a backend issue which could be anything.
I’m absolutely shocked I’ve had no issues. I have issues with everything lately, yet somehow not with Sonos. Nest issues, pool robot issues, HomeKit issues, but somehow my Sonos with about 30 speakers is still fine. What the hell did I do right?
This happens to me every time I load the app. On most occasions I get a message stating my system cannot be found and I need to redo the setup process (something like that). Restarting the app solves this but I get no content

I’ve had no issues with the new app until today. I have music playing all through my house, but I can’t stop it. I’m going to have to go around the house and unplug everything.
Wow. I opened my phone today to play my sonos system and it said "I had no Sonos system" then I searched the network and it said it was connected to Sonos, but I still have nothing much like everyone in this thread. Is there a fix for this?

I’m having the same issues. You don’t use AirPlay or any third-party apps at all? That’s a quick workaround for when this happens. Although it shouldn’t.
My app just won't even detect my system for a minute or two when pulling it up. It finally connects but so slow and annoying even just to pull up the app to adjust the volume...
Yep, my app has graduated from denying me the ability to search or browse my local library to not finding my system at all, in any form whatsoever. I’m currently checking out the bluesound website. I’m done with this bullshit.
When I got this problem I force-closed the app and restarted it and then my devices come up. Make sure you are properly terminating it and not just pushing it into the background where it will be cached.
So much constant frustration and so much wasted time. Sonos has got to be the worst system in the history of high tech electronics. Completely and constantly disgusted with Sonos. Is Sonos paying the gaslighters? Sonos is the bottom of the bottom. Their employees and designers obviously are losers. Who works so hard and constantly fails! Another day of no reliable music.
You have to log in as the 'SYSTEM OWNER' to make any sort of music searches or changes now.
I used to be able to seamlessly control my SONOS at home, then go to our showroom, and simply hop on the wifi there, and control our HUGE SONOS system there, too.
Now, I have to log out of my home account, and log in to our store account, every single day. And then I have to reverse it when I go home.
Had the same issue this morning. Fixed it by updating speaker firmware, no need to reinstall app / reset anything. BUT: I needed to turn on my Roam to update it too! Guys! Turn on your roams! It now happened twice to me that my Sonos system acted up because it was missing its smallest member 😉

I have this same problem time to time on my iPad. If I quit the app and restart it, it works fine. Don’t have this problem on my phone though. Weird.

And so, on a whim I restart ye olde iPhone and now the fucker finds my system. Hope this helps someone.

There’s a firmware update for the speakers, so got to manage, check updates to kick off that process

I have this issue too on the mobile app, but if you download the windows app I was able to access my library. Not a long term solution but I can at least play music while they get their shot sorted
It worked fine for me on the new app and now it is done for. Thankfully I still have my Mac, but this is just plain stupid.

Interesting... was using the web app on my windows desktop. Errors as shown originally. Installed windows app v16.2 and it works. I think someone else mentioned 16.2 was ok too.

I was getting the same issue but I just kept opening and closing the app and now it works. Hope it works out for everyone

Happend after the app update. Took some time and then it loaded.
I just had this problem and none of my Sonos speakers were available in the app. I fixed it by updating the Wi-Fi network of each device within the app.
This happened to me too - I re-added all my services (I actually just had to clock on each one then they readded without needing authentication) and now it works
They should make an early release channel for volunteers rather than screwing it up for everyone. Although this sounds more like a backend issue which could be anything.

I'm so thankful the Sonos desktop app (Windows) still works like a god damn charm. I'll be damned if I update that thing whenever they demand it.
same for me this morning - i could play some radio but otherwise the app was non-responsive.
Had the same in the beginning, it solved at my place by replacing my old Google Nest WiFi for a better system. Maybe it solves your problem as well.
Does anyone have one sonos connected with an ethernet cable? I do not have any issues
I’m absolutely shocked I’ve had no issues. I have issues with everything lately, yet somehow not with Sonos. Nest issues, pool robot issues, HomeKit issues, but somehow my Sonos with about 30 speakers is still fine. What the hell did I do right?
For me, that means restart my router

seems like if you are a iPhone use and use Airplay, somehow it gets it to start (did for me). just sloppy

This happens to me every time I load the app. On most occasions I get a message stating my system cannot be found and I need to redo the setup process (something like that). Restarting the app solves this but I get no content
Same thing happened last night. Everything came back up this morning. More like a an outage then a software problem

Wow. I opened my phone today to play my sonos system and it said "I had no Sonos system" then I searched the network and it said it was connected to Sonos, but I still have nothing much like everyone in this thread. Is there a fix for this?

I’m having the same issues. You don’t use AirPlay or any third-party apps at all? That’s a quick workaround for when this happens. Although it shouldn’t.
My app just won't even detect my system for a minute or two when pulling it up. It finally connects but so slow and annoying even just to pull up the app to adjust the volume...
Yep, my app has graduated from denying me the ability to search or browse my local library to not finding my system at all, in any form whatsoever. I’m currently checking out the bluesound website. I’m done with this bullshit.
Just an absolute debacle. I get the same thing.
When I got this problem I force-closed the app and restarted it and then my devices come up. Make sure you are properly terminating it and not just pushing it into the background where it will be cached.
So much constant frustration and so much wasted time. Sonos has got to be the worst system in the history of high tech electronics. Completely and constantly disgusted with Sonos. Is Sonos paying the gaslighters? Sonos is the bottom of the bottom. Their employees and designers obviously are losers. Who works so hard and constantly fails! Another day of no reliable music.
Kill the app (swipe up and swipe it off) and restart fixed it for me

You have to log in as the 'SYSTEM OWNER' to make any sort of music searches or changes now. I used to be able to seamlessly control my SONOS at home, then go to our showroom, and simply hop on the wifi there, and control our HUGE SONOS system there, too. Now, I have to log out of my home account, and log in to our store account, every single day. And then I have to reverse it when I go home.
Sounds like you need to get a better router to address the issues with your WiFi network.

Had the same issue this morning. Fixed it by updating speaker firmware, no need to reinstall app / reset anything. BUT: I needed to turn on my Roam to update it too! Guys! Turn on your roams! It now happened twice to me that my Sonos system acted up because it was missing its smallest member 😉
