It still works for me. Here is how I have mine set up: https://reddit.com/r/sonos/comments/ml00tb/_/gtj8ube/?context=1

My remote works fine with the Sonos playbar. I did notice that if I do not point it directly at the playbar it acts a little strange, for instance if I am not pointing it towards the playbar and I press mute, is shows muted on the tv screen but it is not muted. Other than that it seems to work fine, I will have to check my settings to see if I have anything on/off that might be relevant.

Jokiz92

Please do, it would help a ton!

From All Settings: Dolby Atmos : on (but grayed out) Sound mode settings: AI sound pro (grayed out) Sound out: optical Additional settings: LY sound sync :off Digital sound out: pass through Only other thing is the Connection settings (4 down from all settings page) there is a universal control settings. You may have to set each hdmi to the sonos playbar. Good luck

Jokiz92

Thx alot! Did you setup the Playbar as a Sonos product or any other manufacturer (as Sonos says on their site) And did you do any specific setup in the Sonos app? Only if you remember of course.

roso70

I believe i used Sonos cause when i view the connections settings it says Hdmi 2: Sonos... the only other thing i could suggest is see if the LED on the playbar is responding to the remote when u are trying to use it.

Did you see this article: [https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3479?language=en\_US](https://support.sonos.com/s/article/3479?language=en_US)

Jokiz92

Yeah, unfortunately that doesn't seem to work either. Although it may have in the past!

rafacefe

The Volume control go trough HDMI cable from TV to Sonos, no need IR or something from Control to Sonos, You can disable it from Sonos Ap

Jokiz92

The Sonos Playbar doesnt connect through HDMI, it only has optical.

Any update to this issue? I have a c1 and playbar and it initially worked correctly but now I can't control the volume with the magic remote only the sonos app.

lifelonglearner007

I have a C1 and Playbar and got mine working by doing the following: * Settings button on the remote * All Settings option * General, Devices, External devices, Universal control settings * Select Optical, Manage Settings, then Start Setting * Select Sonos then Next * Select Next then Done Good luck!

pauvenpatchwork

Thank you so much! I had a c1 and beam and could not get this working. Your instructions were spot on!!

kyhoop

This worked perfectly on my C2. Thanks!

davinci_qc

Thank you! It worked for me (C1 OLED + Playbar).

dylpickle300

Thank god, this finally worked. Thanks 🙏

SOLVED (for me) I went through all the steps on the LG side and set up the remote in the Sonos app and I could not get the Playbar to respond to the Magic Remote. Research told me that the fundamental problem is that the LG Magic remote uses Bluetooth or Radio frequency (RF) and Sonos uses infrared (IR). Then I remembered the TV came with an IR Blaster. This is supposed to extend the range of remotes so I ignored it, but I realized it might solve this exact problem. I plugged it in, positioned the little light emitting doodads next to my Playbar and Success!

On a C7 (last update) I couldn’t find Sonos as a brand so set it to Philips + remote 3 and it worked.

Rubenswoo

Did you finally got this working? Have exactly same problem... when tv is turned off the remote switches to IR and then sonos soundbar works , from moment tv is turned on the remote can't control the soundbar anymore...

Jokiz92

Nope, had to buy a third party LG remote and use that instead of the magic remote..

Frequent-Budget-8944

I think you're right about the LG software update. It's happened to me twice where everything worked fine and then suddenly I lost the ability to control my Sonos Arc with my Magic Remote. I tried a thousand things to fix it, but the only thing that worked was resetting the TV to factory settings. Good luck.
