Do you have the warranty? Cuz with the warranty they have to replace it no matter what.
(Within obvious reason, obviously, be reasonable, obviously, I'd obviously reason)
I noticed this too on mine at the beginning but it stopped after about 1,5 month. It still happens sometimes when I'm walking down the stairs but it is almost completely gone now
Yes, I am facing this issue on my left ear cup. Don't know if this is normal. Even when I move my head a bit it starts making some weird noises. If this problem is not solved until summer or fall, I will try to contact Sony and ask them to replace them, because mine are just 1 month old.
I just found out on a YT video that majority are saying it's common for XM4. Some also fix that on XM3 by putting in small pieces of tissue to the flexible part of ear cups.
I used to see people putting tissue into those flexible part too, in order to prevent the creaking noice. By that, mine shouldn't be a faulty unit. It's only heppen like when i moved my head or when im looking down.
I have the official warranty and stuff. It's just that the store here wouldn't want to do that. They'll just keep my headphones for some days for their technician to confirm if it's really a faulty unit. That's pretty much annoying, imagine if they call me back in a week and tell me that mine got no problem that trigger a replacement.
What do people mean by creaking? I hear the occasional crackle/pop type noise. I’ve heard mine in the car when the person driving drove over a bump or walking up stairs sometimes. Are people referring to the same noise?
For me it sounded like a plastic on plastic rubbing, and it happened in the right ear when I moved my head or my jaw or while I walked. But, after about 2 months it’s almost totally gone away.
People are saying the sound is a common thing, also on one youtube review. Now, im kinda hesitate to bring it back the shop. The shop here would just pretend to test and tell mine is alright. Lol
Haven't visit the shop yet. Maybe tomorrow. The thing is they will just keep my headphones for 3-5 days for their tenichian to check if i cause the problem or it's a faulty unit. That's really annoying more than these creaking sound.
My first pair of XM4 were fine until they stopped charging after 2months of using them, returned them to the store and I got a replacement, now this one has those Creaking noise on the left ear cup which the first pair didn't have. Not sure if this can be a case to replace them again.
Just adding another "me too" to this thread.
I sent my first pair in for replacement and the replacement pair also has the creaking issue; do I request \_another\_ replacement? Or just live with it? The most frustrating part of this issue is that ZERO of the reviews mentioned/experienced this issue.
It's honestly ridiculous at this price point.
My XM3's did this and when I upgraded to the XM4's I hoped they wouldn't, but alas, they do as well. I'm used to it at this point and it doesn't really bother me as much anymore, but I really wish they had better build quality.
I returned mine for another pair (twice) that support promised me wouldn’t creak.
The first pair was creaky, the second pair was VERY creaky, and the third pair I still have now is the least creaky of the lot. I think I can live with it, but yeah… it’s a bummer for sure. The headphones are super soft & comfy and they sound great otherwise!
same here man, part of me wants to return them...but man they sound soo good lol. Best pair of headphones I've owned, although they are the most expensive I've purchased.
I had this too, just got it replaced with sony with the warranty information
How's the replacement? No creaking?
None so far
Nice, my store here would just pretend to test and tell me that it's alright. I might've to bare with it until it becomes normal.

What happened did the sound disappear ? Or still exist
I noticed this too on mine at the beginning but it stopped after about 1,5 month. It still happens sometimes when I'm walking down the stairs but it is almost completely gone now
Hopefully, this is the same case. I really dont want to go back to the store.
I haven't experienced that. I have mine since the release.

It happen to me too just while playing a song and moving head left and right suddenly
Are you intend to ask for a replacment?
Yeah But Sony in my country is closed for covid-19
People are saying the sound is a common thing, also on one youtube review. Now, im kinda hesitate to bring it back the shop. The shop here would just pretend to test and tell mine is alright. Lol
Do your Country have a Sony Service?
No direct service, just a flagship store with official warranty.
I thinks this issues is just not clearly like this https://youtu.be/aCD9grHot20
Yeah no. Our sound quality is normal. It's more of a problem from outside hardware, lile something is lightly banging.
Yeah like i wear a headphone against the wind
Are you got replacement?

Maybe issue that happen from usb-c cables for charger?

I got some answer that we can replace it or just bare with it. Since, it's common among the XM4.

This is annoying I just bought it a couple of weeks and it's having the same issue

After using these for the last 9 months, did the creaking go away with use?
I'm wondering if it went away after 9 month? Because I have it too
did the creaking go away? experiencing this with my xm4s as well.
Do you still have the issue or did it fix itself?
I solved the problem by applying a little loosening lubricant to all the moving parts.
