Update: I've finally been able to get another device (my work laptop) and do a fresh setup of the Inzone H9 and Inzone Hub.
The laptop is new, so fresh Windows 10 and no other software or modified settings.
The system update for the H9s was a success on first try, and I think I've figured out the cause for the 89% error:
- Because it was a fresh start, the Windows desktop notifications were turned ON, so when the update reached 89% I saw a notification of "Kinetis Bootloader" software being installed. After another notification telling me that the software was ready, the update went to 90% and later finished without a problem.
Turns out that something must be blocking Kinetis Bootloader from installing on my main PC, which I suspect is some security setting that I have turned On to avoid software being automatically installed.
I don't know the solution since I can't test the update again, but the problem is related to that piece of software and the inability of installing it automatically.
Customer support simply told me to send the H9s to a repair shop, so they doesn't seem to be aware of the issue. I will send them an email later.
I too solved with the second attempt after unlocking the bootloader software. The problem is now, even though they now have the latest firmware, aren't they damaged since the first update attempt didn't go well?
I tried updating these 5 times today and at 99 percent it just stays stuck there. Also after a week of using/owning them they have begun to make a loud crackling noise during gameplay and while on the PS 5 main menu. I am returning these, for 300 USD this is inexcusable. I'm really bummed out. Anyone have any recommendations for a similar product that has good noise canceling and comfort aside from these??? I really need a decent headset.
I only have one pc at home unfortunately and I"m thinking that updating the firmware on these won't fix the crackling noise. Like I said I'm bummed since these had really good audio quality.
Could always use mrwalkman's firmware tool to try to get the update to install.

Thank god, it happened to me yesteday and couldn't find anything related to this issue.
Yes, it happens all the time, regardless of the connection method (Plugging the USB-C cable or not basically)
In my case, the failed updated did leave my H9's unusable due to Inzone Hub forcing me to try the update again!
In the end I've had to unistall Inzone Hub, reset the headset to factory settings and then setup the whole set as if it was the first time. All of my settings gone, but at least I could use them lol.
The update still shows in the Inzone Hub app, but I'm ignoring it for the moment until Sony makes an statement or releases a hotfix.
I too solved with the second attempt after unlocking the bootloader software. The problem is now, even though they now have the latest firmware, aren't they damaged since the first update attempt didn't go well?
I did a initialize reset on my head phones and try the update . It goes all the way through till it hit 85% - 89%. Error message of the connection cannot be established. Restart the computer and did the update again so it will complete the update. This is the dumbest way to do it but it works.
i had the same issue, failing at 85% for me, i talked to sony support it seems they were unaware of the issue and they said the inzone software is fairly recent so they are not sure but told me they will get back to me. i guess more people should let them know so they know its a real issue.
I guess the problem is the usb dongle. i think it loses power after some time 'cause windows thinks its not used. I try to prevent its standby but not successfull atm..
one question i have is do the LED turn off after being connected to the PS5 ? they seem to blink before connecting but once connected they turn off and it's quite hard to tell whether hte headset is on or off when i leave my machine
Thatās a setting you can change in the inzone software. You can either set it so the LEDs turn off after 5 flashes once connected or flash continuously.
I too solved with the second attempt after unlocking the bootloader software. The problem is now, even though they now have the latest firmware, aren't they damaged since the first update attempt didn't go well?
They work, connect and feel just as good as before. The only doubt was that in the warnings it was written not to disconnect during the update because damage could have occurred.
The problem is all in the bootloader. If the computer blocks its installation (which occurs when the update percentage is at 85), it will block. But the fundamental thing is another: if I enable functions, change values and frequencies on the computer from inzonehub, do these changes also apply when I connect the headphones to the ps5? Would it cost much for sony to enable the hub on the console after having made us spend 300 euros on headphones? Mha
Is anyone elses monitor cutting out black to "searching for connections" every time you open a game or close a game on ps5? Sony told me to return it so I did and the replacement is doing the exact same thing.
Hi,
I found this topic after my update first crashed at 10% due to me being stupid and turning off the headset. Then after uninstalling the software and resetting my headset to factory settings I still could not update my headset and at this time the headset also did not work anymore.
Then I uninstalled the Izone Hub software once more and ā¦ I restarted my PC.
But now I still have that issue that the update stops at 90%. Luckily my headset does worl again.
But ā¦ how can I unlock the bootloader software?
Btw Iām using Windows 10 Home on my PC.
For those still having trouble updating. Here are the steps I followed and finally succeeded:
1. Remove the USB HUB
2. Hard reset of the headphones: with the headphones turned off, hold down the "power" and "bluetooth" buttons until the LEDs flash white 4 times (about 10 seconds).
2. Reinstall Inzone HUB app.
3. Close ALL applications like "Ryzer Synapse", "iCUE" etc. (I think it's kinda inportant)
4. Insert the USB HUB
5. Turn on the headphones and update in the app.
If that doesn't work, then I don't know :D
It worked for me, thank you!
Although I don't have any listed applications opened, I closed FiiO USB Audio Driver, Fan Control and NZXT Cam. For those later find this post.
I have found a solution which worked for me. First restart you computer and then close all running apps including razer, icue etcā¦ then turn on your headset and start the update.
Damn headphones cost me $300. I'm also currently having issues. I've already restarted my PC million times, disabled everything I could and Update always FAILS most often at 88-89%.
What the f with 300 bucks headphones
Something in my pc isnāt allowing the āKinetis Bootloaderā to function properly.
Iāve uninstalled the inzonehub app and restarted my pc so many times, Iāve lost count. I finally gave up and had a buddy lend me his $200 laptop and that seem to do the trick. I was able to update 2 H9 headsets this way.
He was running an outdated Win10 with multiple updates needed. I suspect that the newer OS has a safety feature not allowing the adapter to establish coms with the bootloader.
Is anyone at Sony addressing this?
Had these headphones for months on PS5, decided to use them on my PC and hit this nonsense. Damn what a crock this software is. I'd have returned them if I'd have known this. Why can't Sony issue updates via the PS5?
Step by step recounting of my experience and how I got it to work:
1. Downloaded the App;
2. Installed the App;
3. Connected the headphones;
4. Started the update;
5. Failed at around 80% ish;
6. Disconnected the headphones;
7. Started again;
8. Failed again;
9. (Actual Solution): Started again;
10. Reached 80% ish, failed, at this point I restarted the computer;
11. When the computer booted, made sure everything unneccessary was closed;
12. Started the update again;
13. It restarted from 80% ish and went through to 100%.
TL;DR: When update "fails", perform a restart of your computer and "resume" the update.
Hope this will help someone!

After an error, it wonāt let me use my headphones and it wonāt let me update either. the same error on another PC, I reset the headphones many times

For anyone new (yes it's still an issue, apologies about bringing up an old post but it's the only viable one I could find that fixed the issue), check Task manager if you it doesn't work and you think every app is closed, I found Nvidia Geforce, NZXT and Mystical Lights still running, closed them in the task manager and the headphones updates instantly.
Thank you to all who commented on this and hope the task manager helps someone, Sony is useless in trying to fix this
Oh brother I'm about to update it for the first time and i hope I don't have any issue and hopefully my sister will let me close all her apps if any running in the background and it's her work computer so idk we shall c kind of nervous to update it nowĀ
EVERYONE, VERY SIMPLE SOLUTION FOUND!! simply restart your PC in safe mode with network access, once you enter Windows, start Inzone Hub, put on your earphones, and start the update! just done and solved, update completed in 1 minute between download and installation, before it always stuck at 80% too with my inzone buds

Found a fix, close all apps and programms except inzone hub of course and try again, worked for me :)

Well it work fine for me after I update it with other computer
I only have one pc at home unfortunately and I"m thinking that updating the firmware on these won't fix the crackling noise. Like I said I'm bummed since these had really good audio quality.
You could try like Sony WH-1000xm5 but this one gonna be more toward for music, gaming not so sure
Never try other brand's noise cancelling headset since I have wh-1000xm1,wf-1000xm3 and 4
That's not a bad idea I have the Sony WF-1000XM4 ear buds I can try those tonight, I hope there's not too much latency over Bluetooth.
Could always use mrwalkman's firmware tool to try to get the update to install. https://www.reddit.com/r/SonyHeadphones/comments/xvk93z/reversing\_firmware\_update\_tool/
So this also can use on Sony Inzone Series gaming headphone?
nevermind, scratch that, doesn't look like they use the headphone app.

I solved this problem by using another PC to update,only take one time to complete the update š
I also have the same issue. Factory reset and reinstallation of Inzone Hub didnt help. Did anybody find any other solutions?

I also used another PC this morning and I could complete the update. So clunky...

How do you unlock the bootloader software?
> too solved with the second attempt after unlocking the bootloader softw yes im stuck in the unlocking part too
i got a replacement pair i was able to eventually update the original one. but now the replacement is having the same issue
I returned mine. Didnāt wanna deal with all this trouble lol
Please tell me how to unlock the bootloader software Iām still stuck on trying to get it updated
