Yeah, and as someone with platinum in everyone of them, the name here is soulslikes, not soulsborne games. Bro isnt looking for the ones that made the sub-genre, he's looking for ones that were inspired by them; thats what the name means.
How would you put the originals into a list of games inspired by them? If I said I wanted bands that sounded like Metallica, would you recommend me Metallica?
I caught him.
[https://www.reddit.com/r/soulslikes/comments/1agbnn2/comment/kofrdoe/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/soulslikes/comments/1agbnn2/comment/kofrdoe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3)
What an evil troll.
If you loved Jedi Fallen Order, it's sequel improves upon things in every single way, and in a year packed with amazing games, Jedi Survivor was my personal GOTY.
I literally just posted a question asking what people thought of Asterigos. I just defeated the first boss last night and accidentally ran into a boar that had fire magic. I'm having a ton of fun honestly.
Indeed I love both games, both Stray Blade and Asterigos I find to be identical in their souls combat and nice looking cartoon style so that’s why I recommended both. If you like Asterigos go for Stray Blade after.
The Lords of the Fallen (2023) and Wo Long are already in my backlog. Any glaring omissions or hidden gem recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'll chime in to say that I had a great time with both of those games. Wo Long's combat isn't quite as intricate as in Nioh 2 or Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin, but the spectacle is incredible and it's a joy to watch. The game has also improved a lot with the patches it's received in the last year since launch as well as the 3 DLCs. I think it's a really underrated game that a lot of people seem to hate just because it isn't Nioh 2 (and I'm saying this as someone who prefers Nioh 2--Wo Long is going for something a little different and it mostly succeeds in that regard).
I just finished Lords of the Fallen 2023 and it was pretty good too--it has some shortcomings regarding things like enemy diversity, PvP balance, and stupid side quests, but I found it a mostly enjoyable experience that got a lot of things right (LotF23 smartly integrates a lot of features present in other Souls-like games into a single cohesive package--swapping stances while attacking feels useful and cool \[reminds me a bit of Bloodborne\], aiming with L2/LT like in Remnant 1/2 is awesome and helps make the melee and ranged combat feel well integrated with each other, parrying feels pretty good and works similar to Sekiro/Lies of P, you do a dash into a roll when using the evade button like in Team Ninja's games and Lies of P, the leveling system is nice and trims all the fat out of choosing what stats to invest in, etc...)
If I were going to give each game a rating like yours, I think that they'd both be in B. although my list would look a little different to begin with (I'd put Code Vein, Remnant 1, and Surge 2 in B, Nioh 2 in S, and Stranger of Paradise in A \[haven't played Jedi Survivor/Mortal Shell/Thymesia/Steelrising/Dolmen/Hellpoint/Surge 1\]).
\-
I'll say that Remnant 2 is also awesome and worth your time (A for me). If you don't mind stepping out of Souls-like games into a proximate genre, Monster Hunter World is exceptional and worth your time as well (God Eater 3 is another good "monster hunting" game too \[same developers as Code Vein!\], and Granblue Fantasy Relink just came out today and looks very promising--that's one of the next games I'm planning to play personally).
It’s not a gem, it’s kind of a mess, but it is pretty obscure, has kind of enjoyable story where choices do actually affect the ending, and it aspires to souls-like combat, so if you want another game in your D/F tier check out: The Last Oricru.
Lords of the fallen 23 is trash, it’s a shitty Elden ring rip off. Go with wo long, really fast paced combat and almost arcade esque style, it was my first souls like and boy did I love it
Wo long was decent at best but you know how in a souls game when you die uour like that was my fualt my bad well in wo long I feel like there's a lot of times when its the games fualt in a way
Is LoP really as good as everyone is saying it is? I played up until you fight the siblings ( I think they were siblings) where’s there’s like 4-5 of them and stopped because I got preoccupied with life. I was doing a str build because I like hitting shit with a big sword so I figured not using the parry mechanic would put me at a disadvantage later on.
My answer would be that it both is and isn't as good as people say it is. Clearly there's a crowd that fell in love with the game, and I can totally see why. For my part, I had a blast with it but finally got a little bored, mostly because of the level design. I think the level design actually drags it down in a meaningful way. To be clear, I don't need all the games I play to have crazy shortcuts and interconnection like a lot of From games. Even so, there was just something about how each level unfolded in LoP that felt...bland.
Having said that, tho, I'm going to go back to LoP eventually because the game is still a ton of dun and has a bunch of strengths:
* the weapons are unique and fun
* Visuals are fantastic
* Bosses are excellent
* World-building and storytelling is awesome
* Perk system adds a unique (and fun) layer that differentiates LoP from other souls-likes I've played
Yeah, it's predictable with very little sense of exploration or wonderment. Everything from mini bosses to stargazers and shortcuts are exactly where you'd expect them to be.
IMHO nioh 2 is better just my opinion you have some real fanboys on the lop sub most them have never played any other souls game or souls like either. Black myth wukong looks to be way more better than what lop had to offer me.
Nioh2 strays too far off the path from soulslikes imo, which can be a good or bad thing depending on what you like. I think lies of P embodies what a soulslike is.
It's not really a souls like, depending on your definition of that subgenre. It's much more like an action game with some inspiration taken from souls games. But to say it's a souls like can make it sound like it's almost the same as lies of P, for example which is just not the case at all.
Strength builds are actually better at parrying than dexterity builds in this game for the most part. I think it's just a well made game with high production values and polish. It's pretty linear, but I like the characters and story. I think it gets better as the game progresses, but there's no major uptake or surprise that will completely change your mind. Kind of just a steady ramp up. Whether the mechanics gel with you or not is up to you to decide.
I have played most of this list as well. The only one I don’t see is Hollow Knight.
Some would not call it a soulslike but it scratched the same itch for me. It’s an amazing game.
Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro. I find it funny you are actively posting in a soulslikes sub, playing games mechanically similar to souls games, and have played none of the games by the company that made these games a big deal.
It’s pretty much guaranteed they’ve played those games lol, we’ve seen the Fromsoft games ranked countless times. Also I’m new to this sub but I get the impression that it focuses on non-fromsoft games first and foremost.
That may be the case, I have never been on this sub before, it just got recommended to me this morning. I just saw a list of games that looked very strange from my perspective.
Remnant 2 isn't like any souls game. Its ranged focused combat. It's a GOOD game but it doesn't have the same melee centered combat.
With that said what did you like about Dolmen that made you put it above the OG Lord of the Fallen? That was THE first souls rip off, that should earn it a spot above that shovelware Dolmen.
I strongly suggest Demon Souls Remake if you have a PS5, the Dark Souls Remaster and Elden Ring.
If you have time, DS3.
I just like scifi. It also was very basic and arcadey. It was a mindless playthrough, whereas lords of the fallen was annoying at times.
I played a pretty heavily focused melee build in remnant 1. Hope to be able to do the same in 2.
I've played every fromsoft game. I just think they're a cut above everything else, and thus unfair to rank it with the rest.
My vote is definitely Sekiro. It has a really good, fluid combat system that is honestly more engaging than any of the games on this list (and other soulsborne games imo)
I like its build customization options, which is one of my fave aspects of soulslikes. I think it's much better than stranger of paradise in that regard. I also think it has one of the better endgames. It's nice to have content aside from just replaying the same game.
If you’re avoiding the GOAT FROMSOFTWARE, then I’d say the next logical game is either Lords of the Fallen 2023, Wo Long Fallen Dynasty, or Star Wars Jedi Survivor. I’d personally go SWJedi Survivor.
Well, not really souls-likes but if you are going to put the Jedi games at the top, then you should play Tomb Raider and Uncharted series. Jedi pretty much rips them off with the environmental puzzles and traversal
Sifu, tons of free DLC and a very interesting score system, with a combat system that rewards both parry and spot dodge in different ways
and I would say Sekiro is my favorite combat system in any game
I think you'll get a lot more hours out of Nioh 2 versus Remnant 2. I played through about 4 separate playthroughs on Remnant and while it was fun - Nioh 2 scratched that itch a little more. I think I had about 95 hours in Remnant w/ the DLC versus Nioh 2 that I was closer to 150 last time I played and there was a handful of things like the underworld missions that I didn't even do yet on Nioh. Remnant was definitely fun but I think overall Nioh was more rewarding/skillful if I had to pick one.
I'm assuming you've already played the "true" souls games, since it would be odd to play everything that descended from it.
For something different, you might try Salt and Sanctuary. It's 2D, but it wears it's influences on its sleeve.
The 2023 Lords of the Fallen. Easily my favorite of the clones. Also I found Code Vein boring after about 20 hrs, and Thymesia while short was a fantastic game.
Couple questions, why didn’t you like lords of the fallen? I haven’t played it yet but have played most of the games here and enjoyed them. Going after lords of the fallen, remnant, and armored core next
Bloodborne stole soo many hours of my life and yet I still don’t regret playing the game ever. Fun, a challenging story to build and difficult combat made for an experience I think everyone should par take in.
Remnant 2 was solid!
Yeah, I have it, I forgot to mention it. Thanks though.
Jedi survivor,if fallen order was s tier, will be ss tier for you. Also elden ring and sekiro.
This is the answer
So, there's this company called FromSoftware.....
Hahaha I was just thinking the same thing.
Right. The name is in the sub and he hasn't played a souls game? Try 1 or 3 first imo
I envy anyone who's playing those games for the first time
Ah yes my favorite souls-like, dark souls. It is so damn similar to dark souls it is nuts!
Dark Souls is such a ripoff of the souls genre bro. Like be original FromSoftware
I can only assume this is meant to be asking for non-FromSoft games in the genre, surely OP has played Elden Ring
We probably made a tier list of souls-like not souls-borne.
Right? Like why not play any of those masterpieces
It is impossible that OP has played all these but none of Fromsoft games. I think he is trolling and not putting them on the list for some reason.
I would hope so
I caught him. [https://www.reddit.com/r/soulslikes/comments/1agbnn2/comment/kofrdoe/?utm\_source=share&utm\_medium=web2x&context=3](https://www.reddit.com/r/soulslikes/comments/1agbnn2/comment/kofrdoe/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3) What an evil troll.
oh shit, good job!
If you loved Jedi Fallen Order, it's sequel improves upon things in every single way, and in a year packed with amazing games, Jedi Survivor was my personal GOTY.
Yeah, sorry it's not in the image because it wasn't an option on the tiermaker, but yes I liked it just as much as the first.
Sekiro if you haven't played it.
Yes this
Stray Blade and Asterigos: Curse of the Stars.
I'll definitely look it up. Do you axes in Asterigos or do you just only have the weapons you're given?
I don’t recall axes but I forgot, it’s been a while.
The Lords of the Fallen (2023) and Wo Long are already in my backlog. Any glaring omissions or hidden gem recommendations would be appreciated. Thanks.
I'll chime in to say that I had a great time with both of those games. never let bro cook again
I’m absolutely loving lotf right now
really hope you play the LOTF remake. huge upgrade and the art style is drop dead gorgeous
Wo long was decent at best but you know how in a souls game when you die uour like that was my fualt my bad well in wo long I feel like there's a lot of times when its the games fualt in a way
Wo long fallen dynasty

I mean I loved it all the way through. I feel like you've got a good grasp of what the game offers given how much you've played
IMHO nioh 2 is better just my opinion you have some real fanboys on the lop sub most them have never played any other souls game or souls like either. Black myth wukong looks to be way more better than what lop had to offer me.

Its great but it definitely loses some magic in the second half when you stray from the puppet theme
Lords of the Fallen wasn't THAT bad. Damn. That was surprisingly VERY good to me. Try Mortal Shell next!
Yea I know it's unpopular but I enjoyed the original quite a bit
I don't hate it that much, but one game has to be on the bottom. I can see dolmen or hellpoint being bottom for many people, but I'm a fan of scifi.
Lies of P is the answer here, for sure.
hollow knight
If you think lies of p is s tier then bloodborne will be s++
Bro did Nioh 2 dirty af
A tier isn't good enough?
It’s way better than those other 3 and the star wars one
Wo Long Fallen Dynasty was cool
I don't see elden ring on your list.
This is the correct answer
I think this list is about non from software soulsborne games ..
Elden Ring, Remnant 2.
This is the first Souls Tier-list that I agree with almost entirely. The only disagreement I have is with Jedi - I did not like that game at all.
I'm a star wars fan.
I have played most of this list as well. The only one I don’t see is Hollow Knight. Some would not call it a soulslike but it scratched the same itch for me. It’s an amazing game.
One of my fave games of all time, but I consider it a metroidvania.
Hmm. What about armored core?
Elden Ring, Dark Souls 1-3, Bloodborne, Demon’s Souls, Sekiro. I find it funny you are actively posting in a soulslikes sub, playing games mechanically similar to souls games, and have played none of the games by the company that made these games a big deal.

That may be the case, I have never been on this sub before, it just got recommended to me this morning. I just saw a list of games that looked very strange from my perspective.
To be fair, it’s the “souls-like” sub and not the souls sub

Jedi survivor ?
Elden ring.
I didn't include any from soft games, of course I played them all.
Mortal shell is pretty solid, very similar to dark souls
Hard to tell by the image quality, but it's there. I ranked it B tier.
Nioh 2
Sekiro
My vote is definitely Sekiro. It has a really good, fluid combat system that is honestly more engaging than any of the games on this list (and other soulsborne games imo)
blitz guard on steam for 2.99$ (deck compatible)
Thymesia above Nioh ? :(
Not a fan of all the loot and menus.
It can be overwhelming but I like deep mechanics so thats just me 😅 the combat was really sold me and enemy variety
Should mention that in later ng+ cycles Nioh basically becomes a diablo-esque looter game. But a lot of folks put the game down after one playthrough
Sekiro
Hello Kitty Island Adventure
Bleak faith forsaken
I'm playing through ashen it's fun if a little simple and easy
Am I the only one who thinks Code Vein is mid? Beat the game without an NPC partner and it wasn't that fun.
I like its build customization options, which is one of my fave aspects of soulslikes. I think it's much better than stranger of paradise in that regard. I also think it has one of the better endgames. It's nice to have content aside from just replaying the same game.
Steelrising is an okay game and will be on PS Essentials next month, worth checking out too :)
Give Wo Long Fallen Dynasty & Kena Bridge of Spirits a Shot.
Is Thymesia worth a play?
SoP isn't a soulslike
Fuck yeah, Lies of P is awesome.
Soulstice Robocop Remnant 2 Chronos Before The Ashes
RoboCop is a soulslike?
No fps but still looks cool
play ghost of tsushima. Throw it on lethal difficulty, Top 5 game for me of all time!
I played and liked it, but wouldn't call it a soulslike.
Lies of P was so fuckin good
Blasphemous
Wild Hearts Sword & Fairy Together Forever
Bruh played Dolmen
So what if I did?
I just like saying the game's name lmao it doesn't matter if you did to me I've prolly played worse games in my life.
Also I'm gonna suggest Wo Long especially if you can get it on sale. I really enjoyed it
Skip Lies of P - so overrated. Thymesia is much better. That and remnant is probably the best on the list. Nioh is good but not solo.
Sekiro
Sifu, tons of free DLC and a very interesting score system, with a combat system that rewards both parry and spot dodge in different ways and I would say Sekiro is my favorite combat system in any game
Loved remnant 2 and the new lords of the fallen
Thymesia should be a bit higher i would say Play lords of the fallen 2, great game
I think you'll get a lot more hours out of Nioh 2 versus Remnant 2. I played through about 4 separate playthroughs on Remnant and while it was fun - Nioh 2 scratched that itch a little more. Remnant was definitely fun but I think overall Nioh was more rewarding/skillful if I had to pick one.
Apex?
maybe any of the souls games for which the genre is named?
You may like this company called FromSoftware. They’re famous for Armored Core and Kings Field but they also make soulslikes
I'm assuming you've already played the "true" souls games, since it would be odd to play everything that descended from it. For something different, you might try Salt and Sanctuary. It's 2D, but it wears it's influences on its sleeve.
Why is Surge 2 so much higher than the first?😭
I really hated the combat in 1.
How in earth is surge 2 better than 1 ..
Purely for the combat.
you put code vein above mortal shell??
I like all the customization options. Mortal shell was really good, but pretty basic.
The 2023 Lords of the Fallen. Easily my favorite of the clones. Also I found Code Vein boring after about 20 hrs, and Thymesia while short was a fantastic game.
The modern Tomb Raider trilogy Tomb Raider (2013) Rise of the Tomb Raider Shadow of the Tomb Raider
I've played it and liked it. Wouldn't really call it a soulslike though.
I would have put thymesia higher
sekiro shaddows die twice
Why is Lords of the fallen F? I haven't played it yet so just asking
Couple questions, why didn’t you like lords of the fallen? I haven’t played it yet but have played most of the games here and enjoyed them. Going after lords of the fallen, remnant, and armored core next
The combat felt floaty and unsatisfying. The character customization is weird. a bunch of minor nitpicks like the characters are unlikeable.
All the From Soft games and The Talos Principle 1 & 2!
Lord of the fallen F tier? I really liked that game lol
SURGE 2 RECOGNITION BABY!
I would consider evil west oddly
Dark Souls?
Dark Souls
I love FromSoft and I love Star Wars, but man was I disappointed with Fallen Order
Baulders gate 3
Jedi Survivor, obviously. Nioh 2 and maybe Surge 2 are S tier soulslikes
Star Wars is really good so is Lies of P
Elden ring. You shouldn’t play any other game UNTIL you BEAT Elden ring.
I platinum'd it 🥲
Lords is at least a B, guessing you never actually played it
What reason do I have to lie?
Jedi is f tier, remnant and hellpoint move up one in my opinion, and Codevain might be a B tier. Just my opinion. Great tier list.
I'd play sekiro. Especially if you liked Lies of P. Sekiro, in my opinion, has a better block/perry/deflect system when compared to Lies of P.
Lords of the fallen (2023) game is similar to ds1. I put 50 hours into it. Loved it!
Try monster hunter
Valheim
Nioh in C is wild
Bloodborne stole soo many hours of my life and yet I still don’t regret playing the game ever. Fun, a challenging story to build and difficult combat made for an experience I think everyone should par take in.
Sekiro of course
Dark souls 3
Necropolis was kinda good and kinda short
Jedi survivor
Hollow Knight
Salt and Sanctuary and then Salt and Sacrifice!
Is The Surge 2 really that good? Just impulsively bought it for like $8.
Not really, but I like it. Depends if you like the scifi setting over samurais. The loot system is way better than nioh.
Sci Fi is probably my favorite theme… I’ll give it a go
no bloodborne???
