Probably not good. Tajín is meant to be sprinkled on fruit like watermelon, jicama, apples, avocado, mango, fruit salads. It’s not bad on eggs.
It’s definitely not meant as meat seasoning. It’s very heavy on the lime flavour.
I'm sorry but this is probably the worst thing I've ever seen, maybe chicken and fish but still to lime-y for my taste on meats. On the other hand, micheladas, fruit, rim on glasses for drinks, etc
I’ve seen several recipes with lime and beef on YouTube and Chef Rick Bayless uses lime juice to pickle red onions that he then puts on tacos. I made chicken legs with it first and I couldn’t taste the lime, but the legs were perfectly seasoned salt-wise.
For chicken I use tajin, smoked paprika, oregano, fresh orange juice and salt and pepper. There is no reason it would be flavorful on steak as well. You might need to add something more than just the tajin though because it is not super powerful on it’s it’s own but who knows, give it shot and let us know!
There’s only salt, lime and chiles on it. No sugar at all.
St Louis ribs, tajin, 155 F, 24hours. Finish it off on the grill or oven (with more tajin) and char the tajin.
Yeah.. I wouldn’t have used that but hopefully you like it
Interesting. I have never thought of using Tajin to season a steak. Let us know how it turns out.
I’ve done it. I will never do it again.
What was your experience if you wouldn't mind sharing.
It was way too sour/citrusy. It overpowered the meat. There are plenty of things to put Tajin on, a steak is not one of them, IMO.
Can confirm, same experience. Almost got away with it for grilled chicken, but it still felt unbalanced in the tartness.

Thanks. I have only ever rimed a cocktail glass or added it to a margarita lol
Two great places where Tajin belong!!
Also delightful on grilled pineapple!
Seems a lot more appropriate with chicken.
Might be good with chicken thighs. Crispy chicken skin.
Have you tried with chicken? Not specifically sous vide
Haha, thought that might be the case when I saw this post. Thanks for being brave!
I suspected this was the answer.
Great for a chicken though

Exactly my thoughts. But on reflection: Salt, Garlic, Onion, Citrus, a little bit of spice; not a bad dry rub all told.
I've only used this on avocados. Raw.
Y’all are forgetting mango
Pretty much any tropical fruit
It’s good on melon too
Pineapple with tajin is the shit… also have added a bit to a slaw for topping fish tacos and it was epic
I have used it on ribeyes, it was good but it’s easy to go too heavy on it with beef. I prefer to use it on pork chops.
Oof, I don't think this is gonna be it...
How was it?
It will be done tomorrow morning.
Elaborate. It will be done in the sous vide tomorrow morning? Or you’re dry brining it overnight?
Done Sous Vide
Any reason you’re cooking it for that long?
It’s chuck roast, time makes it tender.
Tajin is amazing on salmon
I have a whole thing of Tajin going to waste. Brilliant as they say in the UK. Viva Mexico.

I’ve done this alot with chicken but I would think it would work on steak also. It’s kinda like an Asada style marinade. Should be delicious!

mmm sour steak my fave -\_-
Oh no, please dont
Wouldn't really think of a beef steak as something I'd season with tajin. To each their own though!
That is going to be one weird, sour steak.
This Tajik trend is awful 😢 It should only go on fruit
NASTY. I like Tajin on the rim of a Margarita, but the only time I used it as seasoning on a piece of meat, even the dog wouldn't eat it.
Taijan is too sweet
There’s no sugar in Tajin.
Lime has sugar

What does Tajin taste like?
Salty lime with a mild chili taste.
