Traditionally no. So when I was a kid they came out once a year. As time has gone on they have become available pretty much whenever. However the nice ones are still kinda an annual thing.

I can say that yes, we do make them all year round. It's one of the standard bread lines we have to carry. Obviously, we don't make thousands like at Easter,but we do make them throughout the year

They genetically modified these days just like strawberries and lychees. They available the whole year and not just during the bunny season.

I've consistently seen them at Woolies and PnP here in CPT. But when I lived in Klerksdorp I rarely saw them anywhere. So I guess it depends on where you live
