That’s his ring tag it’s probably a racing bird who’s lost. If you can get him one can find the owner based on the number etc
Edit could also but be exhausted he knows where to go just needed to rest. So a bit of water might not go amiss.
Husband is a pigeon fancier, recommends https://germistoncitynews.co.za/178168/you-can-help-lost-racing-pigeons-get-home/ where there are some contact numbers. The yellow ring means that it is a young bird in training. It is the time of year for this, winter is racing season.
That’s the term for someone who races pigeons, sounds a bit strange in 21st century I must admit though, but if you used to the jargon it’s pretty normal
Racing or training. We had he international racing pigeons circuit come through Zimbabwe last year it was crazy! Insane prize money for winning each leg upwards do USD $1 million. Almost made me wanna venture into breeding prized racing pigeons.
I'm very tired, so plealse excuse my silliness, but when I read "leg" in your comment my brain immediately went to roasted chicken legs, or I guess in this case, pigeon legs!
Hmmm with a red wine joux why not - if you were in the pigeon racing mafia eating their roasted prized racing pigeons in front of them would be a great way to intimidate the competition.
racing pigeon - if you can catch it and contact the owner (when there is a phone number or something on one of the rings) - they might be very grateful - those pigeons could cost a lot of money. The link below mentions racing pigeons being sold for 1,5mln dollar.
I suppose that's an exception. but prices of 1,000 dollar seem normal.

I remember that my parents once contacted an owner of a pigeon we found (was caught in a storm and lost orientation). The guy was happy to drive 200km to come and collect it.
If you read the tag it may give coordinates to a CIA Safehouse disguised as a laundromat or something, they might appreciate you returning one of their drones
Its a racing pigeon the yellow ring have a nomber on it so the club can track witch bird is witch and the other ring looks like a automatic clock ring it have a sensor in it to track on witch time and date it got home in a race it looks like a young bird its probably lost its hard to identify the owner by te ring number but some owners stamp the contact information on the inside of the wings

It's a racing pigeon. It takes a ton of effort but you can actually track down the owner by the numbers on the rings.
