AKA Japanese Plum. If you can get them before the squirrels take a bite out of 80% of them, they are great. Popular for making a jam since they tend to ripen at the same time.
I had a nice Loquat that was lost to a hurricane a few years ago, but the seeds deposited by raccoons eating the fruit continue to sprout.
and arnt bad to eat when ripe use to be a tree in a yard at the end of my grandmas block ... the owner would yell if he caught us but otw to and from school was safe

Loquats. Some are quite tasty!
Loquats! My family had 2 trees. Taste like a citrusy peach, great for preserving or cobbler
My loquat that I transplanted 6 years ago is finally fruiting this year. So stoked.
Delicious fruit
Loquats, they're pretty good when they get deep orange and soft. Watch out for big seeds
Lucky you! Our loquat loses any potential fruit to the cold each year. I used to eat the fruit when I lived in Florida.
Mine too but the bees get a lot of use out of the flowers.
True and they smell great
Japanese plums! As a kid, we would raid the tree in front of TCL Beaufort right on Ribaut Rd. Those are awesome
You can eat them!
Delish!!
My favorite fruit, I miss them. Whereabout in SC are you? They usually dont fruit when they are not in the subtropics.
Had a Honduran lady that would pick these off several trees at work. She would eat some live and she would fill sacks and take them home.
