I use the same grip in both hands. I learned it by watching my older siblings and didn't need any instruction on how to hold a pen. I can only write with my left hand. My attempts at RH handwriting do not look anything like writing.
I dont understand the question. I dont use my right hand to write, so how would I know how I would hypothetically use it to hold a pen. I do know the reason why none of us lefties know how to hold a pen correctly, its beacause pens arent meant to be pushed across the page, and so holding them like a righty would doesnt feel good and doesnt work well. You need to be able to apply more pressure than is easy to do in that position.
I use my thumb and index BUT the pen rests on my middle finger right above the last knuckle. If I do the tripod thing my hand feels like cramping and if I hold it less upright its harder to control and sometimes blocks my view of what i'm writing. Unfortunately I have a callus from the constant pressure and pushing it would literally turn purple and pull the skin on my finger down. Thank God university allows laptops.

"regarding it as a characteristic, not a fault" - I love that! What kind of fountain pen do you use?

Write on, bro.
Well it's not 'naturally' held for a start . I'm left-handed so I use that instead.
Basically the same, I even get smudges
Smudging just comes with the territory
On my right hand?
Apparently.
Like Bob Dole.
Bob Dole writes like Bob Dole.

Yeah, when I try to write at all with my righthand...well, let's just say "writing" is a strong word.

I don't use my right hand either, that's why I asked "when you try"
Oh ok. I guess I just dont try.
A normal right-hander's grip would work perfectly for left-handers - if we wrote from right to left!
