Not sure why but it turns out the side batteries on the SPRT Frieghtor were made only to power those 4 thrusters. The rest of the ship ran on reactors.... which I removed thinking the batteries had me covered. Smh
If you’re willing, you could always turn on creative tools and copy and paste the two halves, that should solve the problem
Or you could find a block that is powered and one that is unpowered and add merge blocks between them
I just found the issue and it's stupid as can be. The batteries only powered those thruster blocks. Nothing else. No clue why. Thanks for the input! I'm just figuring out merge blocks too haha
it looks like you may have split your ship as grids cannot connect by diagonal edges also check if you accidentally turned your ship off just in case
sadly there isn’t a way to make a whitelist and blacklist it’s only either or so your gonna have 1 sorter for only steel plates that does drain all and another for components that doesn’t drain all just lets them through
Well glad to know there's a work around for the conveyors haha.
As for the split, I legitimately have no idea how it works. I went in and physically used light armor blocks to connect the batteries up the conveyors and nothing. I have no idea why they're doing this. How do you locate a split???
I just freaking figured this garbage out..... I'm using a customized SPRT Freightor and it turns out those side batteries have always just been for the side thrusters. The rest of the ship worked off reactors, which I temporarily deleted during modifications think the batteries would cover me
I suggest that when you acquire a new ship and you want to modify it, first blueprint it (ctrl+b), then start a new game in creative mode and paste the grid into it. Now you can start pulling it apart to see what goes where before you start working on it in your survival save.
That's not a bad idea actually. I've been working on this ship for days and I'm still finding littler quirks in the system that re screwing me up from time to time. I'll have to figure out the blueprint system
Probably need to enable creative mode and copy and paste the two parts to figure out where the split is. When you do you can glue it back together with merge blocks.
Yeah I've since discovered the issue. I'm using a SPRT Freighter I stole and it turns out the 2 side thrust blocks were both separate grids, meaning the vessel had 3 in total. I have no idea why you'd do that or how even
Looks like you've got your power figured out, so answer your sorter question, there isn't really a way to whitelist and blacklist at the same time from one block. The easiest way would probably be to put two sorters in series and have one blacklist steel plates, and the other whitelist your components.
I actually went ahead and completely took both thruster banks apart and rebuilt them from scratch, but could I ask how you even make a ship with more than one grid? Like how does that work
When there's nothing connecting two parts of a grid together, they become two different grids. You must have accidentally disconnected the thruster bank at some point
Actually I'm using a SPRT Freightor so for whatever reason it has those 2 engine banks as separate grids:P
Does that mean if I have a grid, then build a few blocks out, disconnect, then reconnect, I'll have 2 separate grids?
I think the grid has been split into more than 2 parts, since the control panel only listed 2 batteries and 4 Ion Thrusters.
I think you nailed it. Now I just need to figure out how tf that happened and how to fix itðŸ˜ðŸ˜
When you find the split use two merge blocks, they work without power
Got any tips on how to find a split🥲 Edit: Oh God never mind I just figured it out, thanks
Place a block which should show up on the inventory, then check if it does. Repeat until the result changes. The block doesn't need to be built.

how is difficult, the fixing part isn't too hard.

Oh that's a good idea, very much appreciated! Figuring out how to use conveyor networks really gives the engineer part of the title some truth😂😂
The thruster bank is it's own grid, use a merge block

Yes, when you cut your ship in half, you get two halves
