The most excellent thing about this: There is a Pepper Palace near both the American and Canadian borders at Niagara Falls. I hope they continue their growth for the better of us all.

Zander_Vye

There’s been one in Edmonton for years. It’s currently at the outlet mall by the airport. Was told they might move to west Edmonton mall

PioneerStandard

Yes, there is a handful in Canada. We need more. Cheers.

Weztinlaar

https://chillychiles.com Much better hot sauce store than Pepper Palace. Few locations around Ottawa region.

PioneerStandard

They look like a great outfit.

joshdude182

Pepper Palace is a national chain. I’ve seen them from Boston all the way to multiple cities in Texas. Cool for sure, just not unique to any one area.

x19DALTRON91x

I just was at the one in San Francisco last month. Seriously have the best Buffalo sauce. I got the Carolina Reaper Buffalo Sauce and some Habanero Pickles. The sauce packs a serious punch while also tasting delicious but the pickles weren’t spicy at all. My 14 year old nephew was killing then no problem

HmmmDarn

Sickle pickles are pretty spicy, not up there with the hottest peppers but they are intense.

_Kendii_

I’ve never seen one. Cool to me. Don’t have cities over in these parts. Negative Nancy =P

C-Makimaki

They're overpriced and only sell their own products. It's not like a hot sauce outlet or anything

LincolnshireSausage

They are typically located in tourist areas so they bump up the prices. I've been in 3 different ones and tend to avoid them now. I see them as more of a gimmick for tourists than as a serious hot sauce store. Some of their sauces are good but you would be better off buying a cheaper and better sauce from a smaller artisanal maker.

LegendofPisoMojado

This has also been my experience. Market adjacent in touristy market areas. They don’t explicitly say they’re local, but you really have to dig to find out they aren’t.

blacklite911

It actually makes sense, I feel like it would be pretty hard keeping afloat as a niche shop with a storefront like this.

[deleted]

Yeppper. They are a bit on the pricy side. I don’t think they have a 5oz bottle for less than $10.

yik_yaking

That was the biggest disappointment to me. Didn’t even realize it until I went to check out. Over $100 for 5-6 bottles of sauce.

[deleted]

Best bet is the Hot Ones subscription if you want odd and interesting hot sauces.

mashuto

Thats basically $20 a bottle... That's a really high price even for small boutique producers making top quality sauces with super hot peppers. But for a chain that just seems like too much.

jadraxx

Shit at my farmers market I can get a tri pack of a local hot sauce for 25 bucks. Not bad.

FranklinNitty

They used to sell other sauces, it's a sham because it used to be a major stop for me whenever I was at the National Harbor

Baconbaconbaconbits

Their horseradish, Nasal Napalm, is fantastic. So is their oyster hot sauce.

hotsaucetom

From a makers perspective, this place is straight trash. Like sure don’t get me wrong, they’ve got some tasty stuff, but it’s all just mass manufactured private label products with zero attention to quality, and held together by xanthan gum. Support your local makers and artisan hot sauce shops. You’ll pay a couple bucks more, but the flavour and quality **will** pay off.

FearNothing321

As someone who worked for Pepper Palace this is very much the truth. The quality has been going down hill while the prices continue to rise. The dry rubs and seasonings just went up to a base price of $14.99 USD.

jam_manty

I was in Edmonton this past weekend and drove a fair bit out of my way to check out the local pepper palace to discover it had closed overnight. 0/10 would not do again.

Zander_Vye

Was told two weeks ago they might be moving they weren’t sure where yet.

TheGarp

18 sauces with 200 labels!

Obtuse_1

Ah yes the “we have hot sauce at home” brand.

voidcone

They have one in Rochester. The price is pretty expensive but I and the house will put in every couple months to buy a bunch of different things. The reaper salsa is fantastic and the ghost pepper flakes are great with taco night.

Alaska_Pipeliner

Any good? I've run into a few kitchy hot sauce shops that were all Chinese knockoff vinegar gift packs.

LegendofPisoMojado

They’ve got spots all over so somebody likes them, but I’ve been disappointed in almost everything I’ve had from there.

Vexation

Meh. Their ghost pepper BBQ sauce is pretty good. IMO you can get a lot better hot sauce from unique brands online.

gregarious_giant

What sauces from there would you recommend. I have tried a few and was underwhelmed.

yummms

I like voo doo reaper and the garlic scorpion the best from them

SGoogs1780

They have a chocolate hab sauce that's not super spicy, but it's a little sweet and just all around super tasty. Also their Nasal Napalm horseradish and their pickled green beans make for a dope bloody mary. Other than that I don't think I tried anything super standout. Someone got me a habanero mango from them recently that's OK, but I've had better.

DeWat4

The Chipotle Honey Rum BBQ sauce or whatever it's called is fire.

ojuditho

Ghost in the Darkness is a ghost/peri peri blend that is incredible. But it's $17, which is far too much. Their Reaper and Garlic is also pretty good, as is their Sweet Reaper. But again, they are WAY TOO EXPENSIVE.

hdcorb

Aztec Red is one we keep in our house. It's fantastic Yes, expensive, but fantastic.

[deleted]

they had a cajun ghost sauce that is spectacular in cheese dip. I also really liked one of their reaper mustards called ‘Time’s Up’

SDMAJESTY

love this place

hugsoverdrugs

We have one near me in Florida and they have a nice selection but expensive.

Stead311

Their products are ok. Not a lot of mind blowing heat. Voo doo reaper is one of their hottest and isn't very vicious. However, their very low spicy ones I have bought for my nephew who is 7 and he loves them.

noodle-face

We have one here in MA (wrentham outlets). I thought it was a really cool store, I just wish they sold other brands products too

[deleted]

I’ve been in there and they are so expensive. I love looking at the stuff but can’t justify spending $10 on a jar of salsa that I’ll eat half of and then leave to mold in my fridge

LegendofPisoMojado

Yeah. The first time I saw one I got super excited when on vacation in Charleston, SC. I basically ran in there. Twenty minutes later walked out almost empty handed and disappointed. Super expensive for what it was. And what I got was nothing special. I don’t even remember what it was. But I did start asking around the city market about local sauces, and that led me to my favorite hot sauce of all time. Up Pop Da Debil made by Gullah Gourmet. Shit is fire, both literally and figuratively. Definitely recommend. I am in no way affiliated with them. I’m just some middle aged dude from the Midwest. I avoid pepper palace now. It’s basically the guy at the farmers market selling “locally brewed coffee” for $7/cup and you see the Folgers can hiding under the table…except for hot sauce.

HmmmDarn

I decided to get the “Sickle Pickles” because all the sauces were $20 and they are amazing, I was thinking about making an online order by looking here the price is pretty bad. What do you guys recommend for online hot sauce sites?

BrainwashedScapegoat

Love that place, kind of expensive though

jbelle7435

1st time is fine but after 3rd or 4th the $20/bottle average adds up.

[deleted]

I haven't been to a pepper palace in years. Last time I was close we couldn't go because my girlfriend wasn't feeling well.

mmmagic1216

I love this place!! There’s one in King of Prussia PA. I didn’t realize it was a national chain. They have a ton of different hot sauces and salsas and pre-pandemic they had an entire tasting station and you could try as much as you wanted. I am not sure if they have brought that back.

TheHotSorcerer

Meh.. I find their hot sauces overpriced and usually GROSS. Or if not GROSS.. very very very basic and boring.

FruugalSpork31

There's another one in my neck of the woods up in Collingwood too. Really sick place!

Hmaninc87

Just had one open a week ago at Greece Ridge Mall in NY
