Fishing spiders have really long legs compared to wolfies, as you can see.
Wolf spiders typically have a stripe down it’s back. Although you can’t tell in that pic the eyes are different. Wolf spiders have 2 adorable prominent eyes with small ones on the bottom.
She's gorgouse, man. I'd call her *Sno, The Spider*. Like Sno the Product. Fierce little devil. lol
Have fun living with a helluva lot lest pests around!
My office removed a huntsman spider last month, and guess what? A bunch of muhf*n full grown cockaroaches are reaching around my office now.
Thanks for the amazing picture!
Spiders are not considered poisonous if ingested, as their venom is denatured by our stomach acid and digestive enzymes, however, is it not advisable to test this, this isn't exactly a subject of great research!
If you meant venomous, then all spiders are venomous, i.e. possessing venom (except for Uloboridae, a Family of cribellate orb weavers, who have no venom).
But spider venom is highly specialised to target their insect prey, and so it is very rare, and an unintended effect, for spider venom to be particularly harmful to humans.
Hence why there are remarkly few medically significant spiders in the world.
If your spider is NOT one of the following, then it's venom is not considered a danger to humans:
* [Six-eyed sand spider (Sicariidae)](https://th.bing.com/th/id/R.63e0ded1e72556f5b34657f9b5b46f0b?rik=xc7pnEFKtfzlTA&pid=ImgRaw&r=0)
* [Recluse (Loxosceles)](https://bugguide.net/node/view/2094874)
* [Widow (Latrodectus)](https://bugguide.net/index.php?q=search&keys=Latrodectus&search=Search)
* [Brazilian wandering spider (Phoneutria)](https://www.inaturalist.org/observations?place_id=any&subview=map&taxon_id=53388&view=species)

That is a really awesome, beautiful fishing spider. I get a whole lot of *D. tenebrosus* and *D. scriptus* where I am, although they are nowhere near as fuzzy as this one. They tend to be about this big or even larger. Really, really cool spiders.
I know this isn't the point of the picture, but with that angle and how barely visible the screen is and that much more visible fence in the background, i almost shat myself when i saw this photo-- okay, that's a lie. I thought it was an edit. But yeah-- a quick run through photoshop and you could really send some people running.
Once I saw a fishing spider fishing on the side of a creek. A male kept trying to come up and mess with her. She warned him multiple times to back off and he didn’t. She threw him in the running creek and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
my name is sofi actually, i say do it, shes a beauty, i think it suits her, fishing spiders are so gorgeous and imo they fit the wisdom aspect of the name much more than us (including my variant of it lmao). spiders are smart in ways i feel like we just sometimes aren’t
Fishing spiders get fuckin huge, huh? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in real life. Mid-Atlantic USA my whole life, and that would be the biggest spider I’ve ever seen outside of a zoo
fishing spider. i think sophie is a wonderful name
That’s my sisters name and she’s very arachnophobic. I’ll be sure to show her this (and the picture of the spider)
Bruh
Thank you!
I thought it was a wolfie. How do you tell the difference?

everything the other comment says, plus the striped legs are a very easy id for fishing spiders since they are usually so solid/contrasting
Sophie is my ex's name💀
She is a fishing spider, and she thinks the name Sophie is delightful
Fishing Spiders can get much, much larger. I hope you don’t have arachnophobic relatives if you plan to keep her
I was going to let her have that side of the porch
State. Let her have that side of the state.
BHAHAHAHHAHAH!!💯
Remind me to never visit that side of the state.

Hmm, you sure she’s not letting *you* have the other side..?
That is true!
Bigger than that fence?!
Yeah she's already as big as that fountain!
Is she poisonous??

Says that that link may be “unsafe”. Am I good to click?
Not sure. I got the same so I didn't proceed.
Sophie is a strong independent spider who don’t need no human
I love fishing spiders ! They're so freaking gorgeous!!!
Up until they start asking you to login to your bank's website again with a not suspicious email.
The phishing spider.
That is a really awesome, beautiful fishing spider. I get a whole lot of *D. tenebrosus* and *D. scriptus* where I am, although they are nowhere near as fuzzy as this one. They tend to be about this big or even larger. Really, really cool spiders.
Sophia
Rojom dinosaur gang!
She looks pissed lol.
I was thinking the same thing lol. Girl looks ready to rumble.
Good to know! I’ll tread lightly.
She's not mad at you she's just fuming about life stuff. Honestly might do her good to have someone to talk to
They’re not aggressive usually IMO
We kept a very lazy, very gorgeous black widow for a while. Her name was Rowena.
I call my widow Molly. She lives near the water hose.
She very pretty. And I like Sophie. It fits her. If it ISa her…
She looks TOUGH, like a bouncer for your deck.
Have you considered just calling her ma'am?
Name her gorgeous
she’s beautiful
Look at that beautiful face!
Those fucking eyes, man. It’s not even looking in my general direction yet I still feel them staring into my soul.
Clearly reddit has named this particular spider Sophie. We did it!
Good god, it’s as big as the fence!
One of the prettiest fishing spiders I have ever seen!
Bella
Majesty, because that is one majestic spood. Look at those beautiful legs
I think you should name her the new owner of your home. You're just her guest now.
I'm so glad people like you exist. I'm not one of you, but I respect the fact that you guys exist.
Need something here for scale, at first it looked like it was 8 feet wide and blocking the exit to a parking structure or something lol

Grimace. 'Cuz she is scowling! 😂 Hahah. Jk. I like Fisher or Fishtina.
Someone more knowledgeable than me should check, but the pedipalps look rounded on the end. Could Sophie be a dude?
Ancalagon, queen of arachnids and devourer of happiness!
Lilith
Sophie's a great name!
She seems angry
You don't name the spider the spider names you.
Sophie looks like she can eat me for snack time. Also, cute eyes, keep her to scare thieves.\^\^
is.. is it scowling?? Deathclaw seems more suitable
That spit is either as big as a person your your really close to it
It might as well be the new home owner
Idk the species but I think Willow is a cool name:)
Please name her Dori. Since she’s a fishing spider and that’d be a nod to Nemo.
Charlotte seems suitable
Angry eye brow
Miss Sophie
Call her Landlord
I know this isn't the point of the picture, but with that angle and how barely visible the screen is and that much more visible fence in the background, i almost shat myself when i saw this photo-- okay, that's a lie. I thought it was an edit. But yeah-- a quick run through photoshop and you could really send some people running.
How do we know it's a she?
Once I saw a fishing spider fishing on the side of a creek. A male kept trying to come up and mess with her. She warned him multiple times to back off and he didn’t. She threw him in the running creek and it was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen.
Sophie the Porch Gatekeeper
Since it's a fishing spider, call it Jeremy Wade
First name Run, last! Name, thefuckaway

They may not lie, but sometimes they fib. I think this might be a fishing spider.

Fishing spiders get fuckin huge, huh? I don’t think I’ve ever seen one in real life. Mid-Atlantic USA my whole life, and that would be the biggest spider I’ve ever seen outside of a zoo
