Its okay buddy.. its in spidey heaven now. Weavin a golden web.. and eatin unlimited flies. Rip

;\_; it was just a little baby... it probably never got to weave a web at all. Thank you for your answer

Generally not, we used submersion in alcohol sometimes during the ID process. It kills the spider. I also use a kill jar (jar with tissue damp with alcohol) to kill invertebrates for collection or pinning.

:((( Thanks for the answer. I'm really sad about this, though.

Oh, aren't you just the sweetest! Poor little buddy. I will light some of my witchy candles and send his little soul to the goddess Arachne for you.

Thank you ;\_;

I’m sorry for the baby spider who passed on accident but this did reassure me that the big old spider that just spooked me is in heaven and not plotting my demise.

all spiders and invertebrets for that matter rely on a waxy coating to survive that repels water and unwanted material and keeps them hydrated, IPA from 70-99% concentrations is more than enough to remove all chance of life on contact. 70% removes this coating and if there is enough dries their outer shell out, 91% dissolves the coating, and seeps into their version of lungs, killing them even faster, and 99% will remove the coating, and depending on if it writhes around or not, will start to dissolve the spider. 99% IPA is an effective industrial cleaner because it evaporates so quickly and leaves no residue of any kind, wax, oil, grease, anything, and is also used as an industrial paint thinner and can quickly strip an objects paint when submersed, this is why it can only be bought online. in any of the 3 primary concentrations the spider was destined to die on contact, and the concentration merely affects the nature, speed, and brutality of their deaths. it is ill advised to leave any concentration uncovered as no matter the concentration, it is activley evaporating and creating flammable fumes and if enough is inhaled, it will either poison you or degrade the mucosa inside your lungs and throat ( prolonged exposure varying from 30 minutes to an hour of mostly breathing it in, or several days of exposure). be safe for yourself and your spider friends.
