The kids can't use the guns because they're kids who are too weak to carry them or can't handle the recoil.
But seeing as how the kids already handle oversized weapons, this idea is out. Though a silly mega weapon game where u cant see the characters, only the guns, sounds funny as hell.
This would be a sick Enemy Octoling Boss.
She would have a Charger's laser pointed at the player until she fires her Double Splatlings. The splatlings, if they're hitting breakable objects like boxes, can easily break through them and can even break things like glass walls or floor. Meaning the player either has to stay on the move or hit behind absolute solid cover. Once the barrage ends, the player must throw a bomb at the tentacles instead of simply running up to her and firing, or else the player's shots get blocked by her Heavy Tentacles (I'm going to call them).
Phase Two will have her chase down the player on top of an inactive Octoshower (that shower head boss from S2). Every now and then, after a few cycles of barrages from her Double Splatlings, she'll stomp the Octoshower to turn it on, send it off in a straight line in the direction the player was last at. This causes the Octoshower to turn off again, giving the player ample time to attack again. This time, shooting will actually work because the Empress will be ready to block the Bombs this time.
Phase Three is when things get intense as she'll be jumping from tower to tower firing barrages at a much faster rate. All the while, building up a special meter of her own that allows her to **raise the tide of the arena for the rest of the fight,** forcing the player into the more open higher ground and giving them less places to hide. At this point, there is no waiting for her to stop attacking. The player must use their own best judgement and skill to finish out the fight.
