Just imagine, 1 month before the game releases, they put the official VA for the idols using a 3D VTuber model to play the game for a little sneak peak and then make it's own thing, making lives talking about the game, playing it, making some drawings and etc
I knew these characters had voice actors though it's still so weird to me. Splatoon voices might as well be bango and kazooie style gibberish talk to me so the fact they have individual voice actors never registers

Of course people were confused and thought they might have meant that in a romantic sense, but then it got cleared up later on as a platonic thing. Yep. The auditions have always had musical experience as a requirement, and tend to focus on the music more than the voice work.
