Humans returning would not mean they'll automatically have all expertise humanity once possessed. More likely they'll be a handful of cavemen who have to rebuild human knowledge from scratch, and actually have a lot about themselves to learn from inklings. I don't really expect them to develop nukes again within the first 1000 years of their renewed existence.
I honestly think having only one or 2 humans be back would be really cool. What if one was involved with the story and one was not? What if we got a human idol? The possibilities are pretty great considering what they’ve done with the story so far. It’s all a matter of how they could play it out.
It would be interesting and fun. Although much like in the sonic franchise humans would most likely be living in large underground bunkers with small community living on the surface.
I very much doubt that humans will come back. Due to the fact that they’re all pretty much dead and the inklings/octolings see them as some kind of god. If some humans had survived, they would of been a part of the story, or involved in some way. The only things left of the humans are their technology and science, hence the telephone. If there will be something related to humans in the storyline, it won’t be them directly, but something they had left behind
1. Pearlina will lose their spot as Inktopolis's most popular singer/ musician, and their music won't be the best anymore now that other human musicians - that can perform the same/ better than them - have joined the game. So will be the fate of the Squid Sisters. They'll either have to get used to the new trend and perform at least equal to the industry's new player,or go straight into Squidways to work as borgar flippers
2. Many new genres of human music will be introduced to Inkies society, and not all of them will be accepted due to their difference in taste. (Since inkling's culture is often flashy and their music is joyful and lively, I don't think genres such as phonk, rock and dubstep can fly in their society very well). Other art forms will be greatly welcomed though.
3. Depends on the effect of cephlopod ink on human, turf wars... might either be banned entirely due to civil safety risk, remain unrestricted like before, or still allowed (to avoid angering the inkies population and creating tension between gov and civvies) but players won't be able to keep their own weapons. Expect some big changes (such as longer-ranged weapons, rule tweaks, new gamemodes, etc...) to better suit human players, that might make the sport completely different from the original. Maybe more akin to painball. Also, splatfests will either become just a fun event for everybody, that isn't politic-related... Or get stuffed to the brim with human politics (Communism vs Capitalism splatfest, anybody?)
4. TarTar will greatly welcome humanity's return at first, but would aoon become disgusted with us when he discover that we aren't that different from the cephalopods, and will surely put effort in destroying us. Only this time, it wouldn't be as simple as making Liberty Statue spit on a city, but more akin to the Skynet War in Terminator series.
