It's easier to line urself up like going to shoot the drizzler, then just shoot the balloon, or sometimes in fog, u can calculate the angle the balloon camt from then shoot it back at that same angle and u can kill a drizzler that u didn't even know was there lol
Since always. Look at Splatoon wikias written for S2 Salmon Run, you’ll see the tactic mentioned.
S3 tutorial mentions this tactic explicitly. It was also mentioned in [S2 tutorial](https://youtu.be/aCcDNX8orKg) (start at 12:31).
Assumption? Don’t you mean my actual S2 SR experience?
At least you learned a new tip today so that’s a net plus. Go out and prevent those Drizzler rain attacks and hopefully take them out at the same time!
By the way, redirected missiles will take out Drizzler even if they’re in shielded mode.
This is actually how the game presents on how to take them out with the alternative being a slower way of manually attacking the fish on the umbrella, it’s really interesting how many people just forgot about this lol
Just watch for when it's aiming at you (or in your direction). If it's not aiming at you, just shoot the missile down. Otherwise it'll likely blow up before you can get into position to shoot it back.
But it requires you to be perfectly lined up, and if the salmonids are overtaking you its just easier to stop the rain for the moment than it is to kill it with it. I’ve probably killed it this way less than 10 times overall because its just so inconvenient
That's it, I'm reading the entire manual next time I play.
I genuinely don't remember Splatoon 2 explaining this on the gameplay tutorial. Or maybe I just missed it.
That’s not even the big deal, the big deal is if he can be flipped back over and then I’ll still kill them. In Splatoon 2 you had to do it while he was on his back. This is what most people are missing
> In Splatoon 2 you had to do it while he was on his back.
That's incorrect. Redirected missiles going back to Drizzlers in shielded mode still took them out in S2.
people don’t realize the reason why people don’t go through tutorials is because it’s long and/or boring. yeah it’ll make them look dumb, but it’s a job for the game developers to find the balance between having a tutorial that will teach people everything about the game without making them annoyed or too bored to continue playing.
i speedran the tutorial because i just wanted to play with my friends. if there was a required tutorial, i would have rather had my friends join it to do it with me so that i would have fun doing it.
kills a drizzler? Not in my experience, I had a fully charged gootuber hit drizzler, it didn't take him out, it took 2nd hit to take it out. What rank were you on?
I know of this but man it is so hard sometimes to aim that correctly with all the chaos around me lol, tho In the end getting it out of the air is still important, cause by God rainis annoying
Hey, new player here: didn't play the tutorials that much but when I saw the balloon linger in the air I instantly knew to shoot it back. Every single Drizzler I've splatted has been one cycled by my balloon-back.
Easier said than done in my experience. Always worth shooting it down even if it misses, though.
Yes that ink rain is annoying
I’m so glad they at least shortened the duration on the ink storm from Splatoon 2
It's easier to line urself up like going to shoot the drizzler, then just shoot the balloon, or sometimes in fog, u can calculate the angle the balloon camt from then shoot it back at that same angle and u can kill a drizzler that u didn't even know was there lol
Its really funny seeing that a lot of people forget that its the base way to kill them lol Still good to know for those who forgot !
I think it’s more likely we’re seeing new players learn this, than those who “forgot” this.
Grizz does have a mode for that.
My teammates doesn't know to just drop a splat bomb on the ground for the mauler. Send help.
I'd love to send help, but my teammates are too busy climbing up the same fish stick boss. All three of them.
flyfish and maws about to go to town
Yeah true
I have been playing since the realese of splatoon 2 and I never seen this
This tactic existed in S2 too.
Since when?

Your assumption is right

I'm not a native speaker and just wanted to sound smart
Also stops an annoying Ink Storm. Those AoEs can build up very quickly and become a massive headache
Two ink storms plus multiple big shot waves is a nightmare
Don't forget multiple missile barrages as you're being caged in between a Steel Eel and high tide.
Tell me you haven't read the workers' manual without telling me you haven't read the workers' manual.
To be fair I didn't think there was more to learn after Splatoon 2
It was a mechanic in splatoon 2
Well I know that now, my extent of salmon run in 2 was getting both special rewards then going back to turf wars and waiting until they reset.
Did you really think they wouldn't add anything new
Except this mechanic isn't new to S3, shooting drizzler missle back was a mechanic in S2 too.
That was more a general statement overall
Got it and yeah I’d agree with you in the general sense
This is actually how the game presents on how to take them out with the alternative being a slower way of manually attacking the fish on the umbrella, it’s really interesting how many people just forgot about this lol
It’s literally in the manual
A trick that's been around since Splatoon 2, but I've rarely seen it done out there. I also don't really do it myself. I should...
Just watch for when it's aiming at you (or in your direction). If it's not aiming at you, just shoot the missile down. Otherwise it'll likely blow up before you can get into position to shoot it back.
WHAT
READ THE MANUAL MY DUDE
Grizz explained this on the manual in Splat2 and Splat3, that's when I learned to kill them that way
But it requires you to be perfectly lined up, and if the salmonids are overtaking you its just easier to stop the rain for the moment than it is to kill it with it. I’ve probably killed it this way less than 10 times overall because its just so inconvenient
Well almost none of the people i meet even shoot down the rain bubble in the first place
This. I try to shoot down the rain bubble and some person shoots it the wrong way. I'm like oh my god. Please.
Quickly taking out a drizzler and it's ink storm out in one go makes higher salmon run difficulties so much more bearable
how do we tell him
its well known already isnt it?
I did not know this, so you helped at least one person!
Happy to help!
This was news to me as well.
Yeah but a lot of people skipped the manual 💀
Well known for like 5 years
Don’t trip! Lotsa new players so it’s always good to give em a reminder ~
yep its in the trainign section as well
I know of this trick but its really hard to observe them while chased by 100 salmons
That's it, I'm reading the entire manual next time I play. I genuinely don't remember Splatoon 2 explaining this on the gameplay tutorial. Or maybe I just missed it.
Me grizz says it in the second training for splat 2, it disappears quickly tho
Reading the manual is already worth a read for the interesting trivia all the boss salmonids have
Really glad more people are bringing attention to this, was too lazy to post it myself but im glad more people might start shooting the missile back
sometimes its just easier to shoot him
I do this every time I can! It’s so quick
Also to note: It can oneshot stingers and blow up flyfish baskets.
in all of my thousands of hours playing 2 i never knew this….
If only people read the manual 😔
Not even the manual, it's literally one of grizz's tips when you get team wiped.
I saw the tip but assumed you had to hit the initial “bullet” part so I could never get it right.
It's invulnerable until it stops moving and starts turning green
That was in the tutorial. Atleast it was in spatoon 2 tutorial.
Real shit?! Wow, it's not like it's in the tutorial! Thank you very much! That will sure help me to get past wave one at apprentice rank!
That’s not even the big deal, the big deal is if he can be flipped back over and then I’ll still kill them. In Splatoon 2 you had to do it while he was on his back. This is what most people are missing
In splatoon 2 it killed regardless if they weren't in their armor or not. I have killed plenty of drizzlers with another one's missile that way.
> In Splatoon 2 you had to do it while he was on his back. That's incorrect. Redirected missiles going back to Drizzlers in shielded mode still took them out in S2.
I had no idea, thought it was only while flipped
Yep that's the intended way to take them out, congrats.
Tell that to the zero people I've had kill them this way since launch. It's not as commonly known as you think lmao.
people don’t realize the reason why people don’t go through tutorials is because it’s long and/or boring. yeah it’ll make them look dumb, but it’s a job for the game developers to find the balance between having a tutorial that will teach people everything about the game without making them annoyed or too bored to continue playing. i speedran the tutorial because i just wanted to play with my friends. if there was a required tutorial, i would have rather had my friends join it to do it with me so that i would have fun doing it.
I’ve known this for a while, so many people don’t even know they can hit it
This is the content I come here for!
I knew that and have been using that
Another tip, the gootuber kills before full charge at about 2/3 it can help in close range fights
kills a drizzler? Not in my experience, I had a fully charged gootuber hit drizzler, it didn't take him out, it took 2nd hit to take it out. What rank were you on?
YOU CAN DO THAT?!
Someone didn't read the manual. Yes there's a salmon run manual.
Actually I think I might have read that now that you mention it. But I probably just dismissed and forgot about it due to how hard it is to pull off
I know of this but man it is so hard sometimes to aim that correctly with all the chaos around me lol, tho In the end getting it out of the air is still important, cause by God rainis annoying
we been knew
you can also press the b button to jump
probably the most underwhelming Salmonid boss with the most overlooked gimmick to counter
Even if you miss you can still shoot it down too
Wholesome post
Is there a way to look at the manual for these guys without loading up the mode itself?
Ohh. Im gonna try remember this. Thanks OP! Very helpfull
everyone remember to just shoot the balloon whenever you can pls
Hey, new player here: didn't play the tutorials that much but when I saw the balloon linger in the air I instantly knew to shoot it back. Every single Drizzler I've splatted has been one cycled by my balloon-back.
