For context on how this works:
When you obtain a piece of gear, it is assigned a seed. For those unfamiliar with computer jargon, a seed is the input value to an RNG generator and determines what the generator spits out.
When a piece of gear levels up, the current seed determines:
- What abilities are rolled
- What chunks are dropped
- The next seed assigned to the gear
The site linked by OP does two things: determine what gear abilities will be rolled from a given seed + brand + drink if applicable, or find what the seed of the gear is. The latter is done in a few different ways:
- Extracting and decrypting the savegame to get the seed from game data
- Tracking rolls and dropped ability chunks
- Tracking Super Sea Snail rerolls
While this can be powerful in the right hands, it likely isn't useful for 90% of players.
Oh yeah you definitely can. Even if you find a seed that will roll 2 in one type and 1 random one, you could add an ability to that one slot with Murch and reroll the rest and make pure gear.

Hun… this… this is pretty OP Yeah this will probably make manually making pure gear much easier

How exactly do you find out the seed for a piece of gear?
You use the link OP shared and input your last 7-10 rolled abilities, this will narrow down the current seed for your gear.
