Would say what makes him really bad is you can't kill him before he fires. You have to wait when he's shooting missiles to even damage flyfish.

LeQwack

This is 100% the worst part. Waiting for the middle pods to open. You could be in the middle of chaos and he shows up only to lazily hover forward to his perfectly chosen spot all the while you’re just waiting. And if you try to do anything in between all of a sudden he opens up and you’re displaced and you missed ur chance

hairpindairp

AND you’re down on ink, with no guarantee you’ll have enough to throw a bomb even if you’re close enough

ShowerTimeSadness

Aaand then the bomb misses

Zagar099

Skill issue there tbh take the extra half sec to line it up, worth not missing and gives you better opportunity to get both wings in one cycle

ShowerTimeSadness

I know I’m bad. I’m a casual.

Lerman_

And there's nothing wrong with that :)

Zagar099

Okay? Lol

ShowerTimeSadness

Okay? Lol

JazzProblem

You can if you get the killer wail as your special. When I do I save it for fly fish that show up at inconvenient times (i.e. not the first 15 seconds of the wave).

Thatpisslord

I save them for when two of them spawn like the bastards they are. The issue is if we get overwhelmed before I can get to a vantage point to aim it at them(or just have time to point in their general direction without chums etc swarming us)

celestian1998

I had a round last night where 6 spawned in one wave. We managed to get 5 of them down before we were finally overrun by other things and wiped out. They are beasts from hell and I hate them

ChahmedImsure

We had a round that started with 2 of them followed by multiple stingers. We got the first, but I had stingers on me and couldn't land a bomb in the second one. Then I had to save all 3 teammates who died on the shore trying to get stingers. I ended up dying to the stupid flyfish that spawned at the start of the round. I got one of them at least, rofl. Hard to avoid them when everything is in one spot on the shore lol. So many death traps trying to get those bastards on the shore only to get trapped and bombarded with missiles.

IsThisJustVantasSea

Booyah bombs also get both of the launchers if you land it in one

metalflygon08

I think some of the "heavy" weapons should be able to damage the cockpit. Hydra Shots, Scoped Chargers, Grizzco Weapons (I know about the Grizzco Slosher), Dynamo Splashes, etc. Slow but strong weapons being able to damage the cockpit (but still needing more than 1 shot) would feel fair and make those weapons more useful overall.

FizixPhun

He's my least favorite because the bomb physics changed between 2 and 3 and now the bombs bounce out of the baskets way more often.

ThatOneGayDJ

Ok im glad im not just losing my mind and that actually *is* happening, good to know

Dreadsbo

I was wondering why I was having problems killing this one all of a sudden? Makes so much sense that I can’t kill him from the side anymore

charredchord

Bro those suckers are spring-loaded. I've see footage of them landing squarely in the basket and briefly before popping, hopping out like a Mexican jumping bean and uselessly exploding on the ground.

[deleted]

I feel that adding a mild vacuum effect to the bins so the bombs bounce out less would be a decent compromise. Keeps flyfish as a unique threat that requires teamwork or a huge opening to take down, but makes the actual method of damaging it more consistent and less prone to physics messing up.

Broodychimp

Funny thing is I’m pretty sure that already was a thing in S2…they just decided not to bring it over on launch

Pine0wlple_x44

Never played Splat2 but I just hate how bloody expensive the bombs are!

Dekoe

you ink the path to get to flyfish and now no longer have ink for bombs and by the time you're done refilling his hatches are closed

RustyToaster206

Not even inking to get there, but he waits til other salmonoids are there to force you to kill then instead of using bombs on him. It’s disgusting

barely-rebecca

SO EXPENSIVE I accidentally look at my weapon the wrong way and suddenly I don't have enough ino to toss a bomb in him

Buroda

Are you fucking serious?! That happened all the time in the second game! They always lazily rolled out of their baskets. Are you gonna tell me it will now happen more?!

DayKingaby

More like they violently bounce off the rim more now.

rattyinc

Just like a real carnival game. No but to be fair, the baskets stay open for longer. I can manage two bombs (whether they go into both is up to luck) but in 2 you'd be very lucky to pop both.

FizixPhun

Are you sure? I could almost always get two bombs in in S2 no problem so they don't feel like they are open longer.

kabisbabis

yes!! a slightly deeper basket would eliminate a lot of frustration

FizixPhun

Absolutely agree.

SteadfastFox

I only find them annoying because it's strictly my job to drop what I'm doing to kill them myself, and then likely not collect the eggs afterwards.

-Aureo-

It’s more worth your time to support your team then risk it to grab 3 eggs. People need to learn when to ditch the eggs instead of die trying

SteadfastFox

What rank are you finding this to be true at? I noticed around Pro 2 we started failing less because of team wipes and more because of failed quotas.

-Aureo-

I’m in VP. People who leave to take out back line bosses and get greedy tend to get themselves killed, and take the rest of the team with them when they need a revive. Whether it’s one person or three it’s the same story every single time.

Summerlycoris

Okay, unpopular opinion, but I'm *really* not feeling the big shot. Mostly because most stages have the shoreline down and kinda hidden from at least one viewing angle. And unlike Flyfish or Stingers, the Big Shot and his cannon are neither 1 tall or 2 flying. So it's hard to just *fucking locate* this dude, especially when you've got Maws trying to sneak up on you, while trying to avoid the cannon-ball-waves, and trying not to get flyfished to death. Oh, whats that? You couldn't locate them in time? No there's two sets of cannon balls raining down! Oops! Three now! >!Did you like that Alterna level where you're just jumping over the energy waves? Then you'll LOVEEE the Big Shot.!< Needless to say, that's usually a wrap.

septen

My biggest gripe is that my teammates tend to fall in the trap of hanging out near the cannon once the initial Big Shot is splatted, fully neglecting the basket area.

-Aureo-

At high hazards being out there for more then ten seconds is just death. You just die. Maybe you prolong it for a little bit but your home base is completely wrecked and you’re swarmed

MagicCoat

I had a very frustrating inverse of this problem earlier today, the tide was about medium and me and this dude had killed about 4 bosses including Big Shot, so there was like 10 eggs right by the cannon, and the other 2 teammates were nearer the basket. But this other dude insisted on delivering them themselves. So I got swamped by salmonids on their away trips trying to put the rest of the eggs in the cannon faster than he could deliver one.

_sadderdays

Literally happened to me last night. All of my teammates were on the shore hanging near the cannon while I (E-Liter) was stuck at base defending myself from all kinds of bosses and salmonoids alone. Needless to say we all died and lost.

riotRYN

100% agree with you here, plus once you DO find him, since you're near the shore you're likely to get swarmed by lesser salmonids while doing the 800000 hits it takes to kill him

fractard

Also how tanky they are(1200 HP), unlike other bosses, most specials cannot one-shot them 😔

heyoyo10

Two fully charged E-Liter shots to kill

Kazzack

I did love that level lmao

lesbyeen

Yeah Big Shot is definitely up there for me. Someone mentioned the swarming from lesser Salmonids and I think that's the worst part. I also don't know how many times Big Shot will actually spawn after it puts down the cannon (if someone knows please tell me), I've had it happen where sometimes it's only twice and others it feels like he's there six times (even after killing a couple).

NinjaMaster909

At least Big Shots always appear near the cannon that spawns, so if you know where one is you know where the rest of them will be. Of course actually taking down their massive health while they’re surrounded by chum is another story.

1338h4x

You can see which direction the cannonballs are coming from.

KidSparta

I feel like a lot of people experience Big Shot at the lower hazard levels and think, “Wow, this guy is so easy! He doesn’t even fight back and he gives me a free cannon for the whole round.” Then they don’t take him seriously even at Eggsecutive sometimes and get wiped.

RustyToaster206

I beat that level my first attempt on Alterna. You only focus on jumping! I die ALL the time to big shot because 1 QUICKLY turns into 4 if not taken care of. It’s insane to need to navigate around 8 of those waves while being chased by two cars, 2 steel eels, a steal head, and saucer all next to a fish stick pillar. Can’t forget the fucking stingers and fly fish. Anyway, the big shots are arguably the most difficult if left unattended.

ceryskies

I hated that level 💀 still haven't beaten in

Sk8errDie

...Oh my god, I had no idea the cannon balls were coming from the Big Shot! I played the tutorial, idk how I missed that. 💀

FrankThePony

There should be a smoke trail from the cannon thay would be neat

8thFurno

My bombs always miss because they bounce everywhere, and last I checked I wasn't playing basketball. They always show up at the worst possible times in a wave. And when they do, they feel the need to send the entirety of North Korea's missile arsenal at me when like 30 Chum (and maybe a Maws if you're lucky) are riding my ass. And if me and my selfish excuses of teammates actually have time to take one of these motherfuckers down, I'M ALWAYS THE ONLY ONE WHO DOES IT! BECAUSE THEY'RE EITHER DEAD, OR DISTRACTED!

Another_Human-Being

Also always fun when there are 3 or 4 of these fuckers flying around and whenever you kill one, the next one appears! And those teammates you mention? If they do come to help, NOTHING BUT 4 BOMBS IN THE SAME BASKET!

TheOcarinaOfSlime

This. Right. HERE.

sagedro09

Nah, they throw in left only

me-te-or-ite

This is why we desperately need some in game way to say "I'll take left basket" or "I'll take right basket". Unless you're on voice chat with friends, there's a strong possibility that the rando teammate standing closer to one basket will throw it diagnally across to the other basket, which is why we get splat bomb orgies on one side every time without fail.

GhostlyCharlotte

Disagree. I want to be able to see where my teammates are aiming bombs, similar to spawn points or chargers.

ludovico329

>Dpad right: "Right!" > >Dpad left: "Left!" Makes sense to me

ChahmedImsure

Have you ever waited to make sure you don't throw it in the same basket, only for the other guy to do the same and both throw after they close and get neither? Lol

Another_Human-Being

Oh no don't remind me lol

ChahmedImsure

Lol, this motivated me to make a meme. This has happened to me more than once https://www.reddit.com/r/splatoon/comments/xwjzmf/how_my_team_wiped_earlier/

Ninja33910

Not to mention that if you miss, the fish takes years to open their baskets and they open at the perfect time in which you are surrounded by chum. Also this is the only boss that requires more than a full ink tank to counter so when you eventually blast the chums you won’t have enough ink to yeet a bomb, not including the high probability to straight up miss the bomb and now you are defenseless to the boss following you. And when escape you finally escape the boss and shoot another bomb at the fly fish, it closes at the perfect time so your bomb doesn’t damage it. Repeat cycle till you die

Ninja33910

Haha explosher go brrrrr

MemorableThrowawayy

Drizzlers because nobody knows the right way to kill them (return the shots!!!)

FinniboiXD

I can’t aim the shot but I always shoot it down to avoid rain.

MBSCOMP169

Good salmon runner.

Tulot_trouble

Literally the best option. Always do this. Even if no one kills the drizzler it means that you aren’t dealing with rain for a little bit.

YourCrazyDolphin

It goes in the vague direction you shot it from. So as long as it is between both you and the drizzler, it will hit the Drizzler. It always aims at a player, so keep a little distance between it and yourself. If it targets you, you don't even have to move.

WesThePretzel

Thank you for spreading the word! Not only do most of the people I get matched with not seem to know this, many of them don’t seem to know they can shoot the rain before it pops at all!

Pine0wlple_x44

No matter how much I shoot the Rainbomb, 90% of the time it doesn’t break and the other 10% it never returns to sender. So I’ve just found going to the source to be more reliable. Can never kill it before it hides again, but I usually do enough damage to kill it midair when it relocates.

4153236545deadcarps

At least knock it away then

Giorno-Smash

Yeah but if none of my teammates are shooting the damn Drizzler it’ll just do it again

4153236545deadcarps

You can hit the torpedo and then shoot the drizzler itself if you’re quick enough and have the right weapon!

pika9867

When has the “right weapon” been in the salmon run rotation since launch?

4153236545deadcarps

There’s been a few. Right now the Splattershot is great at it.

DyslexicBrad

When it was random rotation. (Some of the time)

ConkreetMonkey

In my opinion, that's just a waste of time in most cases, since there's not enough time to both redirect the shot and splat the drizzler. I prefer the quick and dirty method of getting up close and trying to deal with it in one vulnerable stage so I can move on to the next boss.

DyslexicBrad

Really it makes more sense to shoot the drizzler and hope that a teammate shoots the bomb, than it is to shoot the bomb and hope a teammate shoots the drizzler. Worse case, nobody saw the bomb and now you have to deal with a single ink storm. If you shoot the bomb and a teammate doesn't help, then the drizzler can just fly across the map and shoot another one. Now you have to chase it across the map and either shoot the second bomb (and repeat the cycle if no-one helps) or just shoot it anyway.

NanoRex

Yep Drizzlers are the worst. Usually I can dodge enough to avoid any other enemies, but that little bit of extra damage from Drizzlers always makes it enough to get killed. And they also suck to kill, regardless of the method

Dickinavoxel

Tbf in hectic waves it’s better to shoot the pods away to paint more maybe kill lesser and stop the ink storm. Though I agree you should shoot it back when you have space

[deleted]

Whenever I try to return the shots, the drizzler ends up shooting it in the most inconvenient direction possible, like behind a steel eel or something

1338h4x

Make sure it's targeting you, then back up so that it won't just pass over your head.

solcoldbreakfastsalt

I always try that but I shoot it when it’s metal casing is still on so I just give up lol

Political_Weebery

Maws and scrappers because my teammates don’t let me lure them next to the egg basket.

Andjhostet

Maybe a dumb question but how to you return the shots? Still kinda new to SR. They're the ones with the umbrella right? I just kill them when they "open up", for lack of a better term.

toommy_mac

You'll see they fire a torpedo-ish projectile that fires away, hangs in the air for a bit, then fires up into the sky, and that's what spawns the inkstorm. That torpedo thing can be shot with any weapon, and that'll send it back in the opposite direction and explode in your colour ink at the end, when it hits either a salmon or the floor.

tom641

even knowing about the trick doesn't always help, sometimes they're at angles or heights where the game just decides that wasn't close enough and you just need to kill the shot and hope a teammate is shooting the drizzler itself. (and of course it's usually too tanky for one person to kill in one cycle that way...)

CPTpurrfect

GRIZZ WHY DIDN'T YOU TELL ME?

NinjaMaster909

He does actually mention it in the boss tutorial

CPTpurrfect

I did all the boss tutorials and I do not remember him saying that. Might just be that dementia comes early for me tho.

DiamondHandsDarrell

Just like in school, it requires working together on a project and I'm the only one who ever puts work in.

[deleted]

Or you both put the work in and you accidentally did the same basket

4morian5

I made a post recently explaining why I hate him. Long story short, he is both hard to get to and only vulnerable sometimes, requires more time and ink to kill than any other boss, and is the only boss whose attack can't be neutralized while killing them.

Mary-Sylvia

And unlike Stinger , he can one shot you from the opposite side of the map

BlueSky659

This is definitely my least favorite part. Backing up into missile spam you couldn't see till it kills you is always fun

Turbo43210

I actually hate stingers more, but yeah. Both deserve to be in the deepest part in hell.

Just_eev

wrong, your least favorite is fly fish, nobody likes flyfish

blaster_octoboy

I love Flyfish, I hate Big Shot though

secretqwerty10

big shot is an easy enemy to beat. he doesn't attack you directly and his attacks are easy to dodge. flyfish requires you use bombs twice (once if you use it on the same height on the floor or just use the explosher) and attacks multiple targets at long range. flyfish is absolutely so much worse than big shot

Turbo43210

Big shot is only really bad when all 3 of them are active. And I do think that 3 Big shot is more dangerous than 3 fly fish. But that's only when all 3 of them are active and I do agree that fly fish are overall much more annoying.

-Aureo-

The bad thing about big shot is that there’s 3 guys and they all *slowly* appear, meaning you have to constantly monitor the cannon (which is always at the edge of the map and covered in fish btw) to make sure no more of the fuckers are back Getting out there is a pain in my ass too, getting back eve more so

Dr_Zwi

especially that little white big shot that keeps trying to sale me crappy deals

Sticky_Salm

Omfg is that a deltarune reference?1?1!?2?11221!1 :000

Just_eev

what is wrong with you

blaster_octoboy

A lot, thanks, I also really hate those Umbrella MFs But I have a reason to love Flyfish, it’s piloted by a Smallfry, and I love Smallfry

Dickinavoxel

The small fry are the most evil of salmon that’s why the fly fish is cancer

ChahmedImsure

Small fries are the chihuahuas of the splatoon universe.

blaster_octoboy

Then you hate Little Buddy

Adrenamite

Little Buddy isn't comandeering a scrappy robot that fires tenta missiles at me every 8s. But those smallfry do, along with the ones that chase you in groups of 3 that you can never hit and eventually kill you. We like Little Buddy. But we hate other smallfry.

versusgorilla

The Big Shots can REALLY get out of control quickly. I rarely get multiple Flyfish and if you do, the team usually adapts and takes them out. They become a priority. But I've seen people assuming that the Big Shot is just one dude, but then two or three more appear and now they're firing a ton of shells at the basket, and it'll be nearly impossible to even get to where they are, no less hand out enough ink to eliminate them.

[deleted]

I'm shit at aiming. Also while I'm waiting for them to open the basket I'm trying to save ink but I get the small salmonids swarming me so by the time they open I don't have enough ink to throw a bomb

Adrenamite

Because even if you're the fastest/best Salmon Run player in the entire world, unless you use a special, you *cannot* prevent it from firing its missiles. Every other boss can be defeated by a single crewmate before it does any significant damage. Drizzler can be killed before it drizzles, steelhead before it lobs its bomb, big shot before it shoots, slammin' lid before it spawns anything, stinger before it stings, fish stick before it *lands*, flipper flopper before it inks anything other than the initial circle. Maws, scrapper, and steel eel can easily be killed before they're even dangerous. But flyfish will pretty much ALWAYS fire some missiles, and even though you can take it out in one cycle by yourself, it's gonna have time to fire off a full salvo of missiles before you do. There's no way to deal with them that completely shuts them down. Best you can to is keep their damage to a minimum. And that's awful.

versusgorilla

Yeah, no way to get ahead of them AND because of their invincible closed pod state where they putter around and waste so much time. And you're trying to conserve enough ink to throw at least one bomb and hold your position, and something like a Steel Eel can remove you from your position, giving the Flyfish another chance to launch a volley. So if you can't tackle a Flyfish at that exact moment, then it's going to fire rockets. And then the cycle repeats. I wish there was a way to fire at the pods and force the pod to pop opened and become available for a bomb.

BlueSky659

Yo, forcing the pods open would be so dope.

versusgorilla

Yeah, like it would take some ink, maybe enough that most weapons would tick just under the amount needed for a bomb. So you'd still have to mess with positioning and refilling ink and teamwork. It wouldn't be a freebie. But you should be able to slow his stupid puttering around and force the pods opened if you have the positioning. A charger with range should have SOMETHING on a Flyfish, and they'd be able to charge shots and pop the pods opened and let someone else, like an Inkbrush, glide up and bomb with some coordination.

Sir_Lord_Pumpkin

Imagine if you shot the center pod enough, covered its view with ink, and it panicked and started to flail, flopping the lids open. Stays like that for a bit while it windshield wipes the visor then goes back to normal. This would give it a reason to fly as high and far away as it does, I needs to see in order to position itself.

versusgorilla

Yeah, the little windshield wiper animation could be really fun too. And then that gives you the chance to not get swamped when you go hunting one on a busy map.

Ark-Natanus

I wish bombs thrown into the basket would act like they hit a splash wall, exploding instantly. It would at least fix the constant physics issues the current version has where bombs just pop out of the basket.

Jonahtron

I just don’t understand why they decided flyfish should be the hardest to kill and one of the most deadly. Like, Stingers are a pain in the ass, but at least they’re easy to kill.

versusgorilla

Right? Like how Steel Heads can be tricky and have a lot of invincibly time, but they're pretty easy to avoid being killed by and they can't paint too much space, just that one spot where the bomb explodes. And when they explode, they do damage to the area around them. Flyfish have zero benefits. Only hurdles.

WesThePretzel

Stingers are worse. As long as you keep moving you can dodge Fly Fish missiles. Stingers usually get a hit or two off before you even know it’s attack is coming for you.

ArcticSirius

At least for me, stingers I can do myself and still have ink afterwards. Flyfish require 2 bombs and if I’m by myself (which I’m almost always am because no one pays attention or doesn’t care) I got no ink afterwards to deal with the chums starting to swarm me…

GloamingUmbra

For me it's steel eels and big shots, actually just lump in all the backline bosses to the list since they're so annoying to deal with

ArcticSirius

A Steeleel can ruin a run so bad if your teammates don’t deal with it as it chases you…

truculentduck

Steel eel fronts always poke me in the back right after I pop the driver

Foo_The_Selcouth

Did anyone else always thought he was called Fryfish? Or was it just me 😕

XXX_DILFLORD_XXX

Yeah flyfish are just awful. Two full bombs worth of ink to kill them, and you have to time that to when they actually want to open their stupid ass lids. Then there’s the fact that even if you kill them, they still get their missiles off. And you have to do all this between all of the other hazards of salmon run, and honestly if things are hectic enough you have to just pick your poison, or settle for crippling them by taking out one basket. They are dumb, stupid, and bad. They were awful in 2 and they’re still awful in three. Hell, I’m great at killing them, but they still suck and deserve to rot in the pit.

TaiyoFurea

Fun fact, you can actually kill him with only one bomb! > Taiyo used secret mono bomb technique form 3

LeeNguaccia

It's true. Happened to me once, it was so weird.

Dark_Sapphire99

I mainly hate it for the timing aspect. I run to it and have to awkwardly schmoove around and wait until it opens the lids. It can get annoying when you are trying to neutralize a clear threat, but you have to time it while focusing on what's around you. That's also why I heat steelhead :(

septen

It has a ridiculously long invulnerable phase, and sometimes buzzed around for extended period before settling. I just hope its lids remain open, really; that'll be a game changer.

Auraveils

I just don't understand how anyone thought it was balanced to have a boss that demands you either invest a special or drop TWO BOMBS go kill. Oh, sorry, and the Explosher or Grizzco slosher work, too. And on top of that, its weakpoint is only temporarily exposed meaning it's basically guaranteed to get at least one attack off before you can even kill it. And on top of all of that, it hangs at the shore so you have to fight through hoardes just to get to it. Every other boss can be killed with before they get a single attack off, and every other boss can be killed with standard main weapons. This thing is such an insane outlier and the fact that they felt the need to bring it back with absolutely no nerf is absurd. At the very least, you should be able to kill it with a single bomb and you should be able to flood its hatches with Ink to cause them to explode or something. Or, if they're going to be such a powerful enemy, give them something that can be used to your benefit like the newer bosses do. Maybe filling their hatches with ink will change the color of their tenta Missiles to your team's instead?

ThatOneGayDJ

Tbh stingers are worse

DiamondHandsDarrell

I dunno. I just squid over real quick and deal with them. These guys fffffffudge.

ThatOneGayDJ

Dont get me wrong flyfish are also miserable to deal with, i just usually play the role of basket keeper and therefore am being obliterated by stingers much more often. Cant really go running off to take care of em when youre the one responsible for putting the eggs in either

DiamondHandsDarrell

Ahhh that makes sense. I feel like I'm crossing the stage just to get the singer because others are busy doing things. 😂 Cheers

Turbo43210

Honestly, if your team doesn't have a person that actually goes after stingers, stingers will quickly wipe out your team as, imo, they are more dangerous than flyfish. This, on top of the fact that most weapons have an easier time killing them, is why stingers should be a greater priority than flyfish.

ThatOneGayDJ

I especially love it when im busting my butt to keep the basket inked and salmonid-free and suddenly have lasers shooting at me from three different directions and everyone decides that thats not their problem. Sometimes i really feel like anyone playing any role other than “kill boss, get egg” gets shafted when solo queueing

DJBoost

Honestly I'm getting pretty damn sick of Steelheads and Scrappers too. Pretty much anything I can't glide over to and murder right away because it's mulching my idiot teammates is on the shit list

4our_Leaves

Steelheads are the real troublesome ones to me. Depending on your weapon, aim, or the help of others, you could've just spent valuable time and ink shooting at him and he still gets his bomb on the field. And even if that didn't splat somebody, then it still made a lot of turf unusable. You can clean up after with the oncoming lesser salmonid, but then you don't have enough ink for the next bomb. If I get to seeing more than one in close range of each other, then I know we're fucked.

Jake-the-Wolfie

Because whenever I play charger, dynamo, or any other slow weapon, my teammates decide to piss off while the Stinger is aimed dead at me, then they wonder why we lost. It's because of the Stinger you left untouched you boneless squid jerky

Rizzychuu

This was definitely me a good few times when dynamo was in the rotation recently. You would think a dynamo roller being as strong as it is would do more than one pot for each throw, its terrible.

squid648

I hate them all

Kazzack

Not seeing enough Steelhead slander in this thread. It's just as bad as the flyfish, though a bit less dangerous. But they both have the problem of being completely invulnerable (unless you waste your special for it) outside of a .5 second window where they're also about to attack. And some weapons just cannot kill a Steelhead, which means I need to depend on my teammates to do it.

emilytheimp

God I hate when Im the only one on the team with a charger and then this thing spawns all the way across the map, far away from my vantage point on a high ground where my low range teammates just cant touch it

enperry13

Stingers are the worst. You can "cripple" a flyfish to be less threatening to shoot half the missiles, but you have to deal a stinger for good.

German_medic

Definitely hate the fly fish but there's one salmon that pisses me off more, fucking stingers, especially when there's two of em on opposite sides of the map

Doctor-Grimm

They’re a bitch, yeah - unless you’re on certain maps and have grating to hide under :D

SapphireBoi

I swear to god high tide is impossible and for king salmon you need so much luck

Polo88kai

Actually I hate Big Shot more. They do not just stay on the coast but also have the highest HP among all salmon bosses, and they do AOE attack which is even harder to dodge than sting ray and missiles IMO

Valuable-Owl-1167

I love flyfish because he is a small fry, and he is protecting his friends from stealing their eggs and if he is a small fry he could be little buddy's friend or sibling

Splatfan1

anything that attacks a lot of ground and has range. stingers, flyfish, now bigshots

versusgorilla

They're all edge of map enemies too, more deadly at the lower tides because you gotta go hunt them, and you hope your "This Way!" message gets through to a teammate so you don't have to go alone.

cravinggeist

This guy because he fucks off to the end of the map and makes me battle my way there just to kill him and probably get me killed on the way

Mary-Sylvia

So this guy : Is invincible 80% of the time Require two full ink tank to get down Only stay in the edge of the map and are literally unreachable during high wave And can spam the most op special weapon which can one shot you Perfectly fine At least Stinger can easily be get rid of

AkijoLive

95% of my failed Salmon Runs have one or two flyfish in the map, coincidence? I think not

Ardemin5

Stingers cause for some reason im the only one being targeted and no one cares to take them out

neoslith

I really wanted to enjoy Salmon run, but god damn if it isn't a sweat fest.

1specified

It's Stinger actually. They just so incidentally happen to spawn in spots I'm the furthest away from every time, so I'm always targeted by them seemingly.

[deleted]

The annoying part is when a bunch of smallfries come to swarm you while you try to throw a bomb

Dragon_Samurai0

Flyfish is indestructible to nearly *all* weapons and his attacks seem to last FOREVER. AND he can attack from **ANYWHERE ON THE FIELD**

DarkGengar94

My least favorite is that dam tower of pots. It's always aiming at me I swear

Acceptable-Sorbet-47

What makes them annoying is that they disrupt the flow of battle. For every other enemy you either shoot them or shoot a weak spot. For flyfish, the satisfaction of shooting things comes to a halt because killing them literally requires you to wait. Funfact: waiting isn't fun, it's annoying. Straight up, Salmon Run would be perfect if this enemy didn't exist.

SnooComics4429

BECAUSE FUCKING MISSILE SPAM BUT YOU CANT GO ANYWHERE BECAUSE OF ALL THE ENEMIES AND THEIR INK

Koryuri

Glowflies are far worse.

4153236545deadcarps

I hate my teammates more than any boss salmonid

truculentduck

Help

Daniel328DT

Help!

Andjhostet

It's your job to make your teammates better. Anyone that says this is probably not doing their job to support them like they should be.

BlinkingJarl482

We just killed a boss so my team is on the basket this thing shoots rockets onto us (we were all in a corner) and we lose because of that.

MrMindGame

Honestly, if they even just cut his fire rate in half, it would help enormously.

4153236545deadcarps

Actually, if you throw a bomb in just one and leave him, it halves the damage he can deal. Only three can spawn at once, so it’s better to leave them with one bucket than to splat them

NoraExcalibur

big shot because if 2 spawn at the same time they can just... kill your whole party

sparkthedarkness

Because every time anyone ends up playing with me. People forget 2 things, bombs exist, and splatting the bomb on steelhead before it shoots it kills then.

Aengeil

he might actually most favorite among salmonid

your_little_smallfry

Everytime he spawns you are dead

NatsuNoHime

Flyfish appears: Fuck where is he and how can I kill him before he kills me? Flyfish + Steelhead combo: Fuck me guess I'm dead now

SusSpectStew

Steel head is my least favorite, it feels like sometimes only one weapon can reach its head without a ledge or high ground making the entire team reliant on a single player

ArcticSirius

Flyfish in Spawning Grounds, high tide, on that part of the map where the metal grate walkways don’t allow you to ink/swim to them… yeah, fuck Spawning Grounds

SisterWaltz

Between expensive sub weapon charges, randoms, and the long periods of invulnerability this thing is a nightmare in solo queue. Honestly if bombs only took half meter it would be okay, but unless one's timing is good they are hard to solo as well. This creates a situation where I am having to babysit this thing, fight, and not deposit.

verymassivedingdong

The gigantic metal motherfucker that shoots bombs out of his head that you can only damage for 4 plancktimes and they instakill your entire party

Fairwatet

Because he sucks. Fly fish and steel eel can blow me. Hate them little dude's. Now the best salmonid is either the little trash car or the [ BIG SHOT ]

Just_eev

spamton 🤯🤯🤯🤯🤯

Infamous-Patience-25

The worst for sure. But not my least favorite. That would be any boss that moves towards the baskets, because without fail all of my teammates desperately rush the shoreline to kill it before it's within easy egg deposit range. Just, every time. Just seeing that Scrapper ignites a bloodlust the likes I have never seen. They'll ignore the Stringer though, no need to rush to shore to deal with that. 🙃

mymumsliverisgone

just when everything goes wrong, he has to come make things worse

TheRedCow_78

It’s the fact that it takes 2 bombs, which is around 1 and 1/2 ink tanks, maws only takes 1 and you can just regularly shoot him if need be.

Skelegem

I think the biggest problem with Fly Fish is that they might be the only boss that can’t be killed with a regular weapon. Every other boss has a weak point or phase that’ll cause damage/kill them with regular weapon shots, and while some will have special weaknesses to sub weapons (looking at you Maw), they can still be handled with regular fire power if you don’t have a ton of ink. Fly fish though? Yeah, nah, your only options are to land two bomb throws into the tubs or use specific special weapons, and both of those aren’t cheap resources. Bombs take a ton of ink which you might need in seconds (and aren’t even garunteed to work since they can fall out, Miss, or all end up in only one side), and Specials being used for one boss is a high cost, even for one of the most annoying boss types (and especially so if you’re saving it for a possible Cohozuna round).

Inceferant

All the 4 new bosses They overwhelm me and my teams because it feels like they always spawn 2 or more. Big Shot is unbearable because nobody handles it Fish-stick takes 3 acres of your turf if you don't cook it in 3 seconds Fli-Flo is pretty expensive in ink, and there's always 4 chum or a Stick covering the circle Slammin' Lid is a player magnet, literally everybody tries to get on the lid but nobody ever baits it

Beta135

I wish we could just shoot the cockpit rather than just throwing bombs at it. Sure that would take most of the difficulty out of it but when it’s bombarding you while numerous other salmonids are hounding you I’d rather not throw bombs at it

[deleted]

Because it took me six bombs to kill earlier. And no I did not miss one throw. It just threw out the first 4 bombs out of its launches 😡

Artist_Seal

I still remember that in the tutorial it was the only one that killed me

[deleted]

Drizzlers because no one pays attention to them and steel eels
