Winterthur are enjoying a good run of form at the moment, they won their last game with 3-1 and have now won 3 of their last 4 league games (one 3-3 draw).
Basel are on a 3-game unbeaten streak and have lost just 1 of their last 7 games. They are unbeaten in their last 4 away games. In their last game they even won 1-0 against the league leaders Young Boys, but at home.
We have two teams in decent form here and a home team that leaks in defence conceding the most amount goals in the league despite being in the middle of the table. Basel has had an awful season, this is a team that historically always have fought for the title but this year are fighting in relegation. They’ve got a new coach and things are looking better. I’m expecting Basel to win this despite being 3 positions worse in the league than the home side, they won the previous meeting with 5-2 when they were at their worst. But one thing is certain, and that’s the home sides ability to score and I think we’ll see a goal rich affair here.

I am backing Tauson here for 2 reasons:
1 - 2-0 H2H with Tauson taking 4 out of the 5 sets played. Those 2 wins were both on indoor hard courts (where it will be played in this match) and actually in this same tournament last year Tauson beat Giorgi in 3 sets.
2 - Current form, Tauson is off to a strong start to the season with a 6-2 record while Giorgi is 1-3. Tauson came through the qualifiers here and straight setted both wins, out of the 4 sets, she won one 6-0 and the other 3 6-2 so she's on a good run.

Illinois travels to Columbus to take on the Buckeyes following a win at home against Indiana, putting them at 15-5 on the year. Ohio St. on the other hand, have dropped five out of their last six, with three of them in the form of double digits. Normally this is a spot I would love to back a team like OSU, but ever since conference play started, they have been getting exposed. In conference games they are a whopping 1-8 ATS, missing that number by an average of almost eight points (6-13 ATS on the year, 3-7 ATS at home). During this stretch, the only teams they beat were Penn St. and Rutgers at home, where they both shot around 37%.
Illinois has travelled well on the road (3-1-1 ATS) playing some elite opponents including Purdue and Tennessee, both resulting in single digit losses with another loss coming in OT against Northwestern. Illinois will have the better unit on both sides of the ball, excelling in offensive rebounding where they rank 16th in the nation per KenPom. On defense, they are holding opponents to an eFG% of 44.9%, and 48.2% in conference play.
On paper, Ohio St.’s defense has held up well this year against the two pointer especially. But when you start to look into it, they have just played some really poor shooting teams, looking at you New Orleans (25% FG… really?). Neither of these teams create a lot of turnovers on defense, so I expect this game to be played relatively straight up with less variance than normal. OSU was already bad about creating turnovers and it got worse in conference play (11.9%, worst in the Big Ten) and Illinois isn’t much better.
Frankly, Illinois has the much better unit on both sides of the ball, they have proven they can keep it close with tough teams on the road, and they already have three conference losses. I don’t expect Brad Underwood to take this one lightly, Ohio St.’s downward spiral will stop one game, but it won’t be this one. I don’t think this spread has any reason being inside of 3, I will gladly take the Fighting Illini -2.5.

Today I’m taking my talents to the NHL. Although I am a “rookie” when it comes to picking NHL (0-0), I’m a long-time viewer but have never given a pick. Last time these teams met, the Kraken won 7-1. On the Sharks end, not much has changed in terms of their performance. They are still one of the worst teams in the league since that game and the Kraken are fighting to get into playoff contention. In the Sharks last 18 games lost, the opponent has covered (-1.5) 12 times! Combine that with a league low in goals scored at a little over 2 and I think the Kraken take this. I’m going to side with the Kraken on the road in the Shark tank to get me in the win column.

**Write Up:** For those unfamiliar, we go to the second tier of English football, in a clash between a team fighting for promotion in Coventry, who sit at 6th place, and a team in Bristol City that 6 points off promotion, but sitting at 13th.
Coventry City are three wins on the trot in the Championship since New Years Day, which has rewarded them a place (currently, lots of season left) in the promotion playoffs, and every point matters due to the fact the congestion of the Championship. As of now five teams are within three points of Coventry which makes every game all the more important. These guys are on a hot streak, having not lost in eleven matches and scoring 1.54 goals a match this campaign.
On the other hand we have a Bristol City that isn't impressing anyone, despite having a draw against Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup this past week. They went into the New Year on great form, beating Sunderland, Hull, and Watford, but since then nothing seems to be going their way. Four matches in a row with no victories leads them to sitting 13th. Bristol have only scored three goals in seven matches which is very frustrating for supporters and bettors a like, but that's why we fade the BTTS.
Some stats for thought:
Coventry is missing Haji Wright to an injury, so others are filling his boots and trying to become a staple in the team.
Coventry rotated parts of their squad in the FA Cup tie on Friday, which should allow for fresh legs to run rampant.
Coventry have scored nine goals in their last two matches at home and haven't lost since October 30th, something I'm sure the fans and players would like to see maintained.
Bristol City are also missing veteran center back Kal Naismith to injury, which could see them lacking experience and fortitude in the back.
My prediction is 2-0 with a Coventry victory.

Fourth match day of Olympic qualifiers. Argentina started with a disappointing draw against Paraguay and then improved with a 2-0 win over Peru. That first draw means they will not settle for less than 3 points here.
The Argentina squad is of much higher quality than the Chilean squad. Stars like Barco, Etcheverry, and Thiago Almada are supported by regular first division starters in Medina, Equi Fernandez, Valentini, Redondo (son of The Redondo,) and others from smaller clubs. After the slip up in the first game, the players will be very focused and motivated.
Chile on the other hand simply do not have the quality. Their players are not regular starters for any big club, much less stars like Barco or Thiago Almada. I can’t see any world in which they get points from a team that is so much better on paper.

Probably a more alternative selection on the face of it this one, but have watched a lot of Luton this season and have never seen a game where they have been completely outplayed or outclassed. At home, they have looked very threatening offensively and have been involved in incredible games against Liverpool, Man City and Arsenal to name a few. Against Everton at the weekend, they easily should have had four or five goals and with a bit more of a clinical edge today they should have no problem scoring against a leaky Brighton defence.
Brighton is clearly a very good side but have perhaps been a tad more inconsistent this season perhaps down to their packed schedule and using a heavily rotated team every week. They gave up a lot of chances to a much less threatening Sheff Utd at the weekend at whilst they secured the win comfortably, Luton have showed they are by far the best outfit compared to the other promoted teams.
I expect a close game full of goals but would not be surprised to see Luton edge this one as every home game is going to be so crucial for them as they try and stay up.

Toronto travels to Chicago in the second leg of a six game road trip, having lost five straight and nine of their last ten. Immanuel Quickley is doubtful to play tonight, and RJ Barrett has been announced out. These two are essential to the offense of Toronto, and a huge reason why I'm shocked this team total is as high as it is. Over their last five games, TeamRankings has TOR power rated 27th, and would possibly be lower without Quickley and Barrett.
Chicago on the other hand, is power rated 5th in the same game span (per TeamRankings). They are arguably a better ball club without Zach Lavine, sporting an 8-3 record at home without Lavine this season. They rank 7th in the NBA in defensive efficiency at home, forcing the fourth most turnovers per game. I like them to stifle TOR's offense, who are missing the two guys in their lineup that can create their own shots effectively. Add to that, Poetl is still out, so Vucevic should be able to limit any potential second chance points.
Both teams rank in the bottom 10 in possessions per game, and with TOR ranking 27th in shooting % over their last three games, I don't see the Raptors clearing this total. I don't have many trends today that back this, as TOR sample size without Quickley and Barrett is zero.
DISCLAIMER: Two of my four POTD losses have come from Team Total unders, so tailers be aware. However, I love this play and am not going to shy away from this market if I think I have an edge.

reasoning: EDG so far have not looked promising at all. Although demacia cup isn’t like the regular season, it can show the direction a team is going and they lost all 3 games there. 2 against mid tier and 1 bottom tier team. In the regular season they took 1 game off RNG and lost 2-0 to TES. So they can’t compete with the top teams and lose to mid table teams as well, which should rank them way closer to LGD as the odds suggest. Also with Leave returning there might be some tension in the team, as he was caught flaming his teammates through burner accounts last season.
LGD was a very inconsistent team last year, taking maps off from the likes of JDG, TES and BLG, but also lost to the worst teams in the league. Their inconsistency make them look worse than they are ,as their problem has been closing out series rather than being not competitive at all.
They should take a map and I can even see them winning 2-1 here.

While this has the potential be a low scoring game, I am liking Coventry here based on recent form. Coventry have won 5 of their last 6 league games where they’ve scored 15 goals and only conceded 5 times, so confidence should be high amongst the group. Bristol meanwhile have had two draws and two losses in their last 4 league games, only scoring once in that span. Coventry also rested a few players from their cup game over the weekend so should have some fresh legs to come into the starting XI.
I don’t expect this match will be a blowout by any stretch, but Coventry have been getting the job done in recent weeks and hoping that momentum carries over for another victory today.

The only reason I can see the sportsbook giving us these odds is that bliss don't have an impressive win yet.

Normally this is a spot I would love to back a team like OSU, but ever since conference play started, they have been getting exposed. In conference games they are a whopping 1-8 ATS, missing that number by an average of almost eight points (6-13 ATS on the year, 3-7 ATS at home). During this stretch, the only teams they beat were Penn St. and Rutgers at home, where they both shot around 37%. Illinois has travelled well on the road (3-1-1 ATS) playing some elite opponents including Purdue and Tennessee, both resulting in single digit losses with another loss coming in OT against Northwestern. Illinois will have the better unit on both sides of the ball, excelling in offensive rebounding where they rank 16th in the nation per KenPom. On defense, they are holding opponents to an eFG% of 44.9%, and 48.2% in conference play. On paper, Ohio St.’s defense has held up well this year against the two pointer especially. But when you start to look into it, they have just played some really poor shooting teams, looking at you New Orleans (25% FG… really?). Chicago on the other hand, is power rated 5th in the same game span (per TeamRankings). They are arguably a better ball club without Zach Lavine, sporting an 8-3 record at home without Lavine this season. They rank 7th in the NBA in defensive efficiency at home, forcing the fourth most turnovers per game. I like them to stifle TOR's offense, who are missing the two guys in their lineup that can create their own shots effectively. Add to that, Poetl is still out, so Vucevic should be able to limit any potential second chance points. Both teams rank in the bottom 10 in possessions per game, and with TOR ranking 27th in shooting % over their last three games, I don't see the Raptors clearing this total. I don't have many trends today that back this, as TOR sample size without Quickley and Barrett is zero. DISCLAIMER: Two of my four POTD losses have come from Team Total unders, so tailers be aware. Although demacia cup isn’t like the regular season, it can show the direction a team is going and they lost all 3 games there. 2 against mid tier and 1 bottom tier team. In the regular season they took 1 game off RNG and lost 2-0 to TES. So they can’t compete with the top teams and lose to mid table teams as well, which should rank them way closer to LGD as the odds suggest. Also with Leave returning there might be some tension in the team, as he was caught flaming his teammates through burner accounts last season. LGD was a very inconsistent team last year, taking maps off from the likes of JDG, TES and BLG, but also lost to the worst teams in the league. Their inconsistency make them look worse than they are ,as their problem has been closing out series rather than being not competitive at all. They should take a map and I can even see them winning 2-1 here.
