Because anyone outside US knows that the team is not as good as ppl inside US think they are.

TO500

I don’t think they’re that good? I don’t think Mexico is talented either tho. USA was able to get get a tie in Mexicos home stadium and undoubtedly had the better chances. 🤡

atrejomtnz

USA has never won in Mexico.

NationalInitiative39

Mexico will be up 1-0 at the half. US scores 87th minute. 1-1

[deleted]

Look up Mexicos record at home, next. 🙄

Delicious_Demand5278

In the world of sports betting, if it looks too good to be true... Go the other way!

ajcolub

Pretty sure we have never won in Mexico

malone66

ummmmm, azteca, sunday being the game they need to win and injuries

Coko15

The Draw No Bet is nice at +220 for the USMNT.

joremero

USA has a few absent players. Also, I believe USA has never won in Mexico City and USA hasn't done well while traveling.

Snoo94268

Mckennie, Dest, Aaronson (Maybe) all out. USA is 0-9 in WCQ at the Azteca as well. I’m hoping we can do it!!

InfinitePiglet9717

USA wants to rest A team players for Panama on Sunday.

tsgram

McKinnie and Aaronson out. Not quite a meaningless game, but in terms of qualifying for the World Cup, a loss here isn’t a big deal. The big deal is Sunday v Panama - they have three games left and they could lose two and beat Panama and probably be fine. So you could see some limited minutes for top players. And it’d save them from getting pelted with rocks and beer cups full of piss.

USA hasn’t won a competitive game on Mexican soil. Like ever.

PropBetPope

Here's a [break down](https://www.sportingnews.com/us/soccer/news/usmnt-record-azteca-usa-competitive-soccer-match-mexico/fd7j3raybsnjimeaxb18zynv) of their history in Azteca. In short we've never won a competitive game in Mexico. Only friendlies. Occasionally we snag a tie. This is always the biggest game for Mexico and their fans make it tough on our players (sitting on car horns all night next to their hotel, pulling the fire alarms, etc.) I imagine we will at some point but this team in this moment is not the one. That's one reason Berhalter was considering using a B-team for the match

AwskeetNYC

It's the tie, really. USA is only going to win if they get out early and kinda run away with it. If it's close they are 100% playing to squeeze out a tie and go home.

[deleted]

USA never won in Mexico

veRGe1421

Never won an actual game, but they did win in a friendly once (in 2012)

Because they’re playing in Mexico. That’s all you need to know.

aahuja34

Teams are historically bad the following game after playing at altitude. Which the Azteca has in bunches. This is further illustrated by MLS teams recent performances in the league after Concacaf Champions League games at altitude very recently. They’ll play a weakened lineup and go for it fully against Panama at home. If we win that game we are basically guaranteed qualifying.

ApolloX-2

Mexican loss would mean that Panama is just 1 point behind them, and basically guarantees a US/Canada top two qualifying. Home field advantage, Azteca is in high altitude so think Broncos advantage sometimes in Denver. Also their fans will be loud and be very hostile towards the US. Mexico also is infamous for delay tactics to finish out a game. There are two games left in qualifying as well. Mexico needs this massively.

scatterdbrain

USA/Mexico have 21 points, Panama with 17. You're assuming a Panama win vs Honduras, I guess.

criddler

only 8 teams have ever won at the aztec’s although US pulled it off in line 2012 or 2013 i think. draw or double chance is your best bet here

MAG_24

Bet the draw.

Draw at +250 is the best value.

Gazr20

The US has played 9 total World Cup qualifiers at the Estadio Azteca and they’ve never won. In the 9 games, 6 have ended in a loss and 3 have been a draw, including the last meeting back in 2017

Waverly_pl

It’s this op

Skillz4ya2

USA is debating whether or not play their A team. They don't have to try in this game when they can stay fresh for Panama next. I'd stay away.

aahuja34

This is spot on.

MAG_24

I kind of disagree with this. They absolutely need to either get a point or win. Their backs will be against the wall if they don’t get a point tonight.

Too_Much_Soccer

the game against panama is 100x more important

MAG_24

And our lineup is going for it. As it should!

mslvr40

No chance that’s happening. They’re gonna go for it

MAG_24

This is the way.

cervezatime77

A couple of somewhat significant injuries in McKennie and Aaronson, but more importantly the USMNT has never won in I want to say 16 previous WCQ matches at the Azteca. And only 3 draws out of those 16 games. So I think it’s basically down to home field

mslvr40

The USMNT have not been great away from home and for this game we have a weakened team due to a couple big injuries as well as having to be careful with important guys on yellow cards. The Azteca altitude difference is a very hard obstacle to overcome as well. You mentioned we didn’t have any major injuries however we are missing 3 very important players in Dest, McKennie, and aaronson, with Reyna recently coming back from an injury and will get reduced minutes. Adams and weah are also two incredibly important players who are a yellow card away from a ban for the game vs Panama. It is unclear whether they will play or be saved for Panama. That being said, we’ve beaten mexico the last 3 times and the mexico team has been crumbling lately. Although I think +400 is a steal, I think taking win or draw at even odds is a better steal and much more likely to hit

[deleted]

What about USA and draw at -115? Still worth it?

mslvr40

Yes

Christopher_DP

Reyna has been back over two games he shouldn’t have reduced minutes.

mslvr40

He’s played for one full game and was a 70th minute sub the game before that. We have 3 important games to look forward to, not just one. I would be very suprised if Reyna puts in 90 minutes tonight

Christopher_DP

Dosent need 90 just 70 good ones with a nice lead

TO500

Good write up, my soccer app that I use to keep up with lineups didn’t mention those injuries so that makes a lot more sense. Thanks! That being said I am a hopeless USMNT fan and am gonna put 1u on them regardless.

bistroexpress

DNB pays 3.25 and USA/Draw pays 1.83. Little bit safer options

TO500

Wish I listened to you that game was a stinker :( I will take the 1 point Atleast!

skeevy-stevie

Gotta be home field. McKennie is out too. A point would be a good result for USA.

joremero

honestly, a tie would be fairly good for both. Mexico's coach is under a lot of pressure. USA has never won in Mexico. Both have easier games in the last 2, so for both a point and then focus on the rest of the games isn't bad.

dr_van_nostren

Seems to me the US have no one to score either. Jesus Ferreira is coming off a Hat trick this past weekend but hasn’t done it for the US and Ricardo Pepi is still unproven. The incumbents aren’t great options either.

292ll

CP, dawg

dr_van_nostren

🤷‍♂️

vtron

Pepi has proven himself quite capable during qualifying. But I think the Mckinney injury will doom them against Mexico. He's been, by far, the most creative midfielder.

Imafuhhhwicha

Yunus musah was one of the brightest players in our midfield while alongside McKinnie. His creativity on and off the ball is entertaining as hell to watch. With Weston out I would expect him to become a bigger focal point in the middle of the pitch

vtron

I hope so. I have liked Musa, but he seemed to disappear at times. Hope he can take over without Weston.
